Queen, you mean?

I remember my friends trying to shove X in my face back in Jr. High. The only songs I like are Foever Love and Endless Rain live ver.

They're good and I like most of their songs (especially ballads). They are probably the best rock band in Japan, but that's basically it.

I like them okay.  I wouldn't call them the best rock band ever, but then again, I'm more into a classic rock kind of sound.

They are probably one of the best in that grouping of rock.

Love X Japan.  Definitely influential, I wouldn't know if I'd call them the greatest - since I haven't heard all of them, it wouldn't be fair for me to judge now, would it?

Now if only Yoshiki could finally get some Violet UK off the ground....

Other way round here. I remember my friends (and some family) trying to get me to listen to Queen when I started listening to rock music because they thought they were the greatest band ever.. but they arent that good. They have like 4 good songs in my opinion, whereas X Japan have well over 30 :D

I like Queen too, they've got some hits.  But yeah, X Japan is way higher on my list than Queen is.

Oh, and I dig your avatar, BizKiTRoAcH.  Jack Bauer is the fuckin' man.

X-JAPAN: THE Japanese rock band of the late-80's and 90's.  Lead by Yoshiki (drums), other members were Toshi (vocals), Pata (guitar), Hide (guitar), and Heath (bass guitar).  When they first broke on the scene there was a different guy on bass, but I don't remember his name.

Anyway, a lot of people have likened their style of music to Queen, in that they've done everything from hardcore rock, to symphonic rock, to some pretty kick-ass ballads.

Yoshiki, as leader, was also the principal songwriter, composer, and producer for the group (as well as many other JRock acts which he still works with).  He's musically very daring and bold, willing to try new sounds in an attempt to continually evolve the sound of the music.  He's also a major perfectionist, which may be part of the reason his newest/latest/current project, Violet UK (which has been "in the works" for at least 6 years), hasn't been able to really get off the ground.

Anyway, X-Japan had broken up sometime in '96 or '97, partially 'cuz the guys wanted to do solo projects, but largely due to tensions within the group reaching an all time high. Sometime in '98 (I think), the guys apparently mended some of their fences and had planned to reunite/re-form the band (everyone except Toshi was in).  Tragically, this reunion never happened because Hide died (overdose, I think).  They did have a psuedo-reunion when the remaining members got together at Hide's funeral and played some of their songs as a tribute to him.  With Hide's death, X-Japan was dead.

So now, Yoshiki is still writing, producing, and on occasion playing drums with some other bands.  I'm not sure if he's still working on Violet UK.  As for the others, they've each released some solo works (saw them on EBay).  Other than that, I'm sorry to say I don't know much about what they've been up to.

Hope that helps a bit.  I'm sure I'm leaving out a ton of other stuff.  If anyone else can add to this, feel free to do so.

Something to add, Toshi got arrested last year for hitting little kids.  He also tries to sing at local bars and clubs.  It's sad to see an artist with world class abilities singing gigs that arent even close to what he can be singing.

X Japan is the greatest rock band ever.  What other band is/ was as versatile as them.  I've never seen a band or heard of a band that can top X.  Yoshiki is a genius and Hide is/was unstopable on the guitar.

Sorry, I got a heated up there cause X Japan is so great.  Anyways, I think they are awesome :x

Don't feel like you have to apologize for being such a big fan of theirs.  We're all fans of our own fave artists/groups, and we're not ashamed of it.  Totally agree about what you said about Yoshiki-san and Hide-san.  When the two of them and Toshi-san worked together, FUCK it was magic!!!  Their type of greatness will never be seen again.

I love X-Japan, i think Art of Life is a masterpiece.

I want to visit the hide museum before it closes, hopefully ill go in july.

I have a question tho, do you pronounce 'Hide' as Hi-De the japanese way or 'Hide' the english way?
Title: (Band) X Japan

Holy shit man.... I've been there twice and that place is fucking awesome!  I can't believe they are going to close it down.  But it's true, both times I went there only about a handful of people were there.  The first time I tried to go, they were closed for maintenence.  I don't see how that place needs it but yeah.  Shit, I really need to go there then before it closes.

RIP Hideto Matsumoto

Hm. Hard to say the best ever, what with the beatles, etc, and other old bands .. rock's a very large category and it's hard to make such sweeping generalisations, especially in the face of literally billions of Beatles/Stones fans.

Certainly the best heavy rock band. Certainly the best rock band in the last 30 years. Certainly my favourite. Certainly there will never be another band like them, ever.
Title: (Band) X Japan
Post by: sendai sky on May 23, 2005, 04:45:53 AM
"Hee-De"???!

It's pronouced the japanese way, as you'd expect, "hi-de" with "hi" as in "hit" and "de" as in "dead".

Anything else is wrong!
Title: (Band) X Japan
Post by: Katchoo on May 25, 2005, 03:42:56 AM
i believe "hee-deh" or hee-day" is the correct pronunciation.  The japanese "i" is pronouced like the english letter "e". So "hi" is pronounced "he" (as in male) not "hi" (as in hello)

from: http://wiki.theppn.org/hide

"hide [always spelled with lower case 'h'] (pronounced hee-day, not to be confused with L'Arc~en~ciel's [1] HYDE"

I'm not sure if this is what you were getting at, regardless, X owns  :)
Title: (Band) X Japan
Post by: kinsei on May 25, 2005, 03:53:03 AM
just watch x (the song) live and you can hear toshi calling him hee-deh
from what ive heard from tv and music japanese vowels are pronounced the same way as spanish vowels (i dont know japanese so i could be wrong)

Ok... rumor has it that X is going to return! Yoshiki, Pata, Heath, and Toshi with Sugizo (LUNA SEA) filling in for hide. This news apparently comes from Heath's fan club.
They will play the Budokan on February 11. One night only. God, those tickets will go for $5,000 on yahoo auctions. And I'll be bidding on one.
Now, I couldn't think of anyone more appropriate to fill in for hide than Sugizo.
But I just can't believe that Toshi would have any part of this. The article says he hasn't signed up yet.

maybe you're right ... The first time I listen to it I really think the same.... too long the piano solo.... no good the melodical thingy, but wait a minute... I realized that is like a metaphor of life.... All the lyrics are complement with all the music and melodical solos... so the piano part is like a part of the life itself... expresed like that.... very sad moments... desesperate... angry... confusion.... is like all the bad-sad moments we lived are there....

I'm pretty excited. Song sounds good. I just hope they do a short tour here in the US.

Yeah, I saw it opening day. It was great to hear it over the theaters sound system. Great song, but I was disappointed by the lack of a real guitar solo. I figured that's where they would have thrown in one of hide's old recordings.
Yoshiki said during the pv shooting that they would preform in Tokyo next spring. I would assume at Tokyo Dome. No word on when the single will be released. Rumor has it that it will contain three tracks, including "Without You" and a secret song.

I was really disappointed with the new remastered versions of BLUE BLOOD and Jealousy. They really don't sound much better than the originals. I had such high hopes for those... I'll upload them if anyone wants, but don't expect anything amazing.

hey brad, have been reading alot of your post about Jrock stuff and learning alot of different bands, as i'm still a new comer to this type of music    :pimp:

Pls up for a fellow J-rock/X 'new' fan!!   :D

** a friend sent me the old version, but somehow the mix is very muddy and there's couple of skips here and there, esp. between the first instrumental track into 'blue blood"..

Here is the full version of I.V. that was ripped from the SAW4 DVD. Still not positive if this is the final version that will be released as a single, I've heard rumors that the unedited version is a lot longer.

credit to Menacia over at Tonberry forums. His rip also included about a minute of the song played after I.V., so I edited that out, so it stops right when the piano stops.

There's a bunch of torrents up over at jpopsuki and most of the show is up on youtube. I only downloaded X's and Luna Sea's sets, but they were awesome. Best part was the muteki band at the end of X's set.
For the spread beaver thing, all the band members played live and they played hide's vocals over the speakers.

Weird I just saw X-Japan is going to have a concert in Paris next month.
"Lucky" french having such a strong connection to Japan.

Anyway I thought about going there but some online shop lists tickets for 214$ D:
It's probably worth it for fans but I'm not fan enough to spend that much... especially not since I would also have to pay for a flight/train ticket as well  :bleed eyes:
Hopefully they'll have success in Europe though

more news, from the home office of Chase Wang, they are main stage acts and.....

FIRST SONY, TOYOTA, CANON, NINTENDO/Wii, and SUSHI; NOW X JAPAN IS COMING TO AMERICA
A Lollapalooza Main Stage Appearance and U.S. Record Debut Set for 2010

LOS ANGELES, CA - (Thursday, June 17, 2010) -- X Japan, the biggest rock
band in Japanese history, has been confirmed to play the Main Stage at this
summer's hottest ticket, the Lollapalooza Festival.  On Sunday, August 8, X
Japan will make its U.S. concert debut as it shares the stage with other
international superstars such as Lady Gaga, Green Day, Soundgarden, MGMT,
and The Strokes.

Calling X Japan the most successful rock band in Japan is not a statement
made lightly.  X Japan has sold more than 30-million albums, singles and
videos, headlined and sold out Japan's 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome 18 times - so
far - and has started playing to tens of thousands of fans outside of Japan.
Going back to the 1980s, the band's look and sound sparked a global interest
in Japanese entertainment, especially with the Japanese cultural rock
phenomenon, "Visual-Kei," a movement X Japan pioneered that went on to
become a catalyst for today's worldwide Anime craze.

Yoshiki, the band's leader/songwriter/drummer and classically-trained
pianist, has been referred to by his first name only throughout his
professional career, and is arguably Asia's most influential musical artist
and biggest rock icon.  According to one industry insider, "Yoshiki is to
Japan what Bono is to the UK."

"We are very honored to be asked to play Lollapalooza," said Yoshiki.  "This
is a wonderful opportunity for X Japan to bring our music to new fans, to
play some of our brand new songs, and to play for our U.S. fans."  At least
one of the new songs, "Born to be Free," will make its worldwide debut
during X Japan's Lollapalooza set.

The members of X Japan - Yoshiki, Toshi (vocals), Pata (guitarist), Heath
(bass), and Sugizo (guitar) - have been spending time in Yoshiki's Los
Angeles recording studio working on what will be the band's U.S. debut, and
its first album sung in English.  "We decided to record English lyrics for
four or five of our most popular, previously released songs," Yoshiki
explained, "and then write an additional four or five brand new songs, also
sung in English.  We have worked very hard on this album, and are very
excited to present our music to the American rock fans."

Immediately following their August Lollapalooza set, X Japan will fly back
to Tokyo where they will play their biggest concert ever - headlining two
nights at the Nissan Stadium, performing to nearly 150,000 fans.

About THE YOSHIKI FOUNDATION AMERICA
The Yoshiki Foundation America is a California nonprofit, public benefit corporation founded in 2010 by Japanese musician Yoshiki of the multi-million-selling rock band, X JAPAN. A number of personal experiences brought Yoshiki to the launch of his foundation beginning with the loss of his own father when he was just a teenager. Like so many people around the world, he read news accounts and was deeply moved by the devastating effects of the 1995 earthquake in Kobe; in 2009, he paid an emotional visit to an orphanage in Sichuan, still reeling in its recovery, with so many children still displaced and orphaned. Additionally and as a tribute to Yoshiki's late X JAPAN band-mate, Hide, who embraced the support of children with bone marrow disease, The Yoshiki Foundation America provides funds to offer assistance through music to children with this debilitating illness. Music is what kept Yoshiki moving forward with life after his father's passing, and bringing music to children in need is at the heart of his Foundation. While he was thankful he was in a position to donate several pianos and other musical instruments to the schools affected by the Kobe and Sichuan earthquakes, as well as having the children in the local orphanages as his personal guests at local X JAPAN concerts, he wanted to do more, something permanent and enduring.

Here's what went down:

COMIC BOOK LEGEND, STAN LEE¹S POW! ENTERTAINMENT and WORLD RENOWNED MUSIC
ARTIST, YOSHIKI, JOIN FORCES TO CREATE MUSIC SUPER HERO MOTION COMIC AND
COMIC BOOK SERIES

New York, NY October 9, 2010 Stan Lee¹s POW! Entertainment, the comic
book legend who co-created Super Heroes such as  Spider-Man ,  and The
Hulk , and Yoshiki, Asia¹s most influential music artist and founder and
drummer of the band, X Japan, join forces to develop a music Super Hero
comic book and motion comic series that will incorporate both Stan Lee¹s
literary genius and Yoshiki¹s music genius.

³When I met Yoshiki, I was so impressed with his musical talents and unique
creative eye that I knew immediately I wanted to work with him on something
special where we could combine both our strengths. Creating a music Super
Hero character was the natural evolution of our efforts,² said Stan Lee,
Founder, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of POW! Entertainment
(PK:POWN)

Combining the talents of these two great artists, Stan Lee¹s gothic-styled
music Super Hero will be based on Yoshiki and his passion for music and his
fascination with dragons. The music Super Hero will be a vigilante.
Yoshiki¹s music will be inspired by Lee¹s story and will play an important
role in the comic series. The Super Hero¹s powers are triggered when certain
musical notes are played on drumsticks by Yoshiki¹s character. Additionally,
Yoshiki will create music that will be heard in the motion comic.

³Just like the rest of the world, I have admired Stan Lee and his creations
my entire life. Just meeting him was so great and now working with him is
one of the most fun and creative experiences I have ever had.  To watch his
mind at work is amazing and inspiring,² said Yoshiki.

X Japan signs 3-year contract with EMI Music North America

Rock band X Japan has signed a 3-year exclusive agreement with EMI Music for production and distribution of their music in North America. Their first release through EMI is the single "Jade," scheduled for March 15. This will be the band's first single in North America, and their first CD single anywhere since "THE LAST SONG" in 1998.

X Japan successfully completed their first U.S. tour last summer, which included their debut U.S. performance at the rock festival Lollapalooza.

Leader Yoshiki said that they have plans for an album this summer, with about half of it being new songs. Naturally, they are also aiming to do a tour for the album before the end of the year.

Yoshiki also stated that the band is currently negotiating for releases in other countries, particularly Europe and other parts of Asia.

In addition, Yoshiki announced that he is getting his own regular radio show, called "YOSHIKI RADIO," on the U.S.-based satellite radio service Sirius XM. The show is currently planned as a one-hour broadcast once a month, starting in February.

X Japan is probably my favorite band of all time!!! Pretty versatile, but I like their earlier work better, since you can see more of other band members involvement, such as HIDE and TAIJII, but after HIDE's tragic death and TAIJI leaving (or fired by YOSHIKI according to his own autobiography), now X Japan feels like YOSHIKI's doing everything and the music style is getting more dramatic.  I still prefer their newer music than any other modern music, and I appreciate Yoshiki's talent in both Rock and Classical music, but I gotta say, I miss the good old X days... even though I wasnt actually a fan until after HIDE passed.

They are doing the theme song to the new Japanese animated film Buddha, which sounds closer to X Japan Dahlia Era music, check it out on youtube when u guys get a chance!

Here you go! It's looking really good, reminds me of Prince of Egypt and Princess Monomoke.  The song is called Scarlett Love Song. IMO it sounds more similar to their older slow songs then the recent songs that has the Violet UK feel to it.  Not saying Violet UK is bad but I miss their older songs.

X JAPAN'S YOSHIKI HAS MARILYN MANSON WALK THE RUNWAY AT HIS "ASIA GIRLS EXPLOSION" FASHION EVENT IN TOKYO

Japanese music/fashion icon, X Japan's Yoshiki, co-produced and hosted "Asia Girls Explosion" on Sunday, March 6, an East-meets-West/fashion-meets-music event held at the Yoyogi National Stadium in Tokyo, and rocker Marilyn Manson walked the runway.

"When we came up with the concept for AGE, the first person I thought of was Marilyn Manson," said Yoshiki. "He is the fashion icon in rock'n'roll, and
I'm very excited he agreed to be part of the show."

Manson and other international celebrities that included Shenae Grimes. Jessica Stroup and AnnaLynne McCord from the TV series "90210," presented
trendy but wearable collections from a variety of high-end, international designers that combined Japanese street fashion with progressive Western
design, and a healthy dose of rock'n'roll style.

"Asia Girls Explosion" also unveiled Yoshiki's own fashion line, "Yoshikimono," that paid tribute to his parents who ran a Kimono shop when
he was growing up. "It is a tradition in Japan that the eldest male takes on the family business," Yoshiki explained. "But I rebelled and got into
rock'nroll. With the Yoshikimono line, I feel I'm keeping my parents' dream alive."

Yoshiki's band, X Japan, one of the biggest rock bands in Japanese history, is currently recording what will be their first-ever album to be released in
North America. The album's first single, "Jade," will premiere on March 15, and the album will be out later this year.

also a friend of Danny Trejo (the gangster looking mexican guy)
have to say, Marlyn Manson is actually someone closer to his "world" lol....

X JAPAN'S YOSHIKI TO AUCTION OFF HIS CRYSTAL PIANO TO AID JAPANESE EARTHQUAKE/TSUMANI VICTIMS

LOS ANGELES, CA March '5, 20'' Yoshiki, leader of the Japanese rock band X Japan, will put his favorite "crystal² piano on the auction block,
donating all proceeds to help provide aid to the victims of Japan's earthquake and tsunami.

  (http://img255.imagevenue.com/loc64/th_026425135_STAGEDAYONE_2481_122_64lo.jpg) (http://img255.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=026425135_STAGEDAYONE_2481_122_64lo.jpg)

The custom-made, plexi-glass "Yoshiki Signature Piano by Kawai" with Yoshiki's name engraved on it, was used when the band played their legendary
shows at the Tokyo Dome.

The Japanese-born Yoshiki, who lives in Los Angeles, felt the earthquake tremors while in a Tokyo recording studio working on X Japan's first North
American album, and was shocked by the large-scale damage across Japan. "It took awhile to locate my mother, but she is, thankfully, OK," said Yoshiki, "and I've spoken with [band members] Toshi, Pata, Sugizo and Heath, and they are all safe as well. I am praying for the people here who are still trying to locate their family and friends."

X Japan has decided to postpone the release of their first U.S. single, "Jade,² that had been scheduled to be released today, so that they may focus
their time and energies on helping with the recovery.

In addition to raising money by auctioning his "crystal" piano, Yoshiki will collect donations for the Japanese disaster relief through the Yoshiki
Foundation America, his California non-profit, public benefit corporation with tax-exempt status as a section 50'(c) (www.yoshikifoundation.com (http://www.yoshikifoundation.com)
<http://www.yoshikifoundation.com> ). The Yoshiki Foundation has already donated to American organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation of
America, the Grammy Foundation, and St. Vincent Meals on Wheels.

Title: X JAPAN EUROPEAN TOUR!!
Post by: daigong on April 16, 2011, 09:50:59 AM
hey EUROPEANS JROCK FANS!!

JAPANESE ROCK ICONS X JAPAN CONTINUE THEIR WORLDWIDE EXPANSION WITH FIRST-TIME EUROPEAN CONCERT DATES PLUS SPECIAL GUEST SLOT AT SUMMER SONIC FESTIVAL

(FRIDAY, April 15, 2011) They¹ve sold more than 30-million records and DVDs, filled the 55,000-seat Tokyo Dome a record-breaking 18 times, made
their North American concert debut last summer at the Lollapalooza festival, and sold out their New York City debut at the famed Roseland Ballroom.  And this year, for the first time ever, X Japan will bring its long-awaited, epic rock¹n¹roll to Europe, with three special concerts set to take place in
London (June 28, Islington O2 Academy), Paris (July 1, Zenith de Paris) and Berlin (July 4, Huxleys). Tickets go on sale today, Friday, April 15.  Go to
http://www.xjapanmusic.com/ (http://www.xjapanmusic.com/)   for ticket info.

More X Japan concerts are currently being confirmed around the globe and will be announced shortly.

³We are all so excited to finally come and play in Europe," said Yoshiki, X Japan's leader/drummer/pianist/songwriter. "This is something we've wanted to do for many years, and we are ready to rock our European fans."

In addition, X Japan has confirmed they will play a special guest slot at the two-day "Summer Sonic" festival set for August 13 in Osaka and August 14
in Tokyo.  Although on its own, X Japan sells out Japanese venues twice the size of the "Summer Sonic," it is a big honor for the band to be part of
this bill as the annual festival features the biggest and most-buzzed about international artists. This year¹s headliners also include the Red Hot Chili
Peppers and The Strokes.

In Asia, X Japan - Toshi (vocals), Pata and Sugizo (guitars), Heath (bass), and Yoshiki (drums, piano) - plays arenas and stadiums, bringing in
elaborate production including lasers, catwalks, and holograms.  For these upcoming European dates, X Japan will tailor its ³stadium-sensibility
theatrics" to the more intimate venues, focusing primarily on its "Queen-meets-Guns-N-Roses-meets-The-Matrix" rock assault.

"We had a wonderful time last fall on our first North American tour, playing theatres, something we hadn't been able to do in Japan since the early
days," Yoshiki explained.  "We were able to make a strong connection with our audiences because they were right there, just feet away from the stage. I even crowd-surfed a few times!  So, we¹re looking forward to the same sort of close-up-and-personal but intense experience on these dates."

Yoshiki and X Japan¹s vocalist Toshi were in Paris last July, making a special appearance for more than 5,000 fans.  The duo performed a handful of
X Japan songs "unplugged," and had the entire audience singing the chorus to one of the band's most exquisite compositions, "Endless Rain."

The members of X Japan have been writing and recording what will be their first album to be released outside of Japan with English lyrics.  According
to Yoshiki, about half of the album will feature some of the band's most popular songs from throughout their career, with nearly all of the lyrics
re-recorded in English, and the other half, brand new songs written specially for this album.  The album's first single will be "Jade," and will
be on the 2011 European set lists as well.

With many more dates coming, X Japan¹s 2011 global concert schedule is as follows:

JUNE
28            Islington O2 Academy, London, UK

JULY
1            Zenith de Paris, Paris, France
 4            Huxleys, Berlin, Germany

AUGUST
13            Summer Sonic Festival, Osaka, Japan
14            Summer Sonic Festival, Tokyo, Japan

YUP!! here's an official news release:

Quote
X JAPAN'S FIRST SINGLE, JADE TO BE RELEASED ON JUNE 28

(June 14, 2011) -- Jade, the long-awaited new single from X Japan, one of the most influential rock bands in Japanese history, will be released in
North America, Europe and Latin America on Tuesday, June 28 in all digital formats.  Jade is the first track from the band's English debut album,
currently in the final stages of recording.

A Jade full-length ringtone will be made available exclusively in Japan on June 28, and the single will be released there and in Southeast Asia two
weeks later on July 13.

"This is a years-long dream of X Japan's, to release a record in the Americas and in Europe," said Yoshiki, X Japan's leader/producer/songwriter/drummer/pianist.  "Music is very powerful, and we believe it can help us bridge the gap between east and west. We hope that Jade will be the first step."

Written and produced by Yoshiki and mixed by Andy Wallace, Jade was recorded in both Japan and at Yoshiki's Los Angeles studio, the same studio
where Metallica recorded its classic Black album before Yoshiki bought it and turned it into a private facility.

The song features the thunderous drums and bass of Yoshiki and Heath, respectively, the searing twin guitar work of Pata and Sugizo, and Toshi's
dynamic vocals.  With most lyrics sung in English, Jade is a hauntingly romantic tale of embracing the beautiful sadness of death, and showcases X
Japan¹s eclectic mix of rock, goth, and classical music.

The release of Jade coincides with the X Japan's June 28 sold-out show at London¹s Shepherd's Bush Empire and the kick-off of their world tour that
includes stops in Europe and South America.  Click here http://www.xjapanmusic.com/ (http://www.xjapanmusic.com/)  for the full itinerary.

South America Tour is official over, from what I heard it rocked HARD!  But there were also quite a few bizarre moments.  A strand of YOSHIKI's hair got pulled off intentionally while he was doing a crowd dive, then that person actually tweeted that picture to YOSHIKI, of course the dude got a lot of heat for doing that and he took it down.  And then his neck brace got stolen on another crowd dive. I guess people were having too great of a time, but still show some general respect!

YOSHIKI's been addressing he's a nurse-con tweeter while interacting with fans, but he caught everyone by surprise when he actually changed into a nurse costume in a few concerts, just looking at the pictures totally ruined Nursed themed AV for me!!! but nothing wrong with them having some fun, and the crowd seemed to love it. I just wish they can come back and play at LA again soon, I happened to miss it last year, but attended the their Yokohama Live, which also happened to be former bassist Taiji's last live performance....  RIP Taiji...

I love the little Hide's guitar alarm clock! This is really cute!

I visited the concert in Paris last summer (I was there on vacation and lucky enough they had their concert at the same time :)) and it was a wonderful experience. The crowd was awesome! The whole atmosphere was breathtaking. I really felt the love of the audience for the band!

TOKYO, JAPAN October 26th, 2012 - Make-A-Wish® of Japan, an official affiliate of the Make-A-Wish® International, will welcome its 20th year since its foundation in 1992. To celebrate this anniversary, a dinner party was hosted at Tokyo American Club on the evening of October 26th, 2012 in Tokyo, Japan.

YOSHIKI, international musician/producer and leader of the rock band X Japan, donated "A Chance to Sing an X Japan Song Accompanied by Yoshiki on Piano" alongside other items donated by celebrities and other supporting corporations.

Hide's encouraging and supporting one girl in particular, who was a big X Japan fan as she faced a life-threatening medical condition, was a captivating story, which continues to inspire people and remains a legacy.

Yoshiki put his own favorite "crystal" piano up for auction in 2011, as well as collecting donations from various Hollywood celebrity friends, providing aid for the Japanese Earthquake and Tsunami, through Yoshiki Foundation America (USD 213,658 to date). In addition, Yoshiki's charitable work includes donating pianos to schools in the affected area by the Kobe Earthquake, as well as donating musical instruments and helping build music rooms for children affected by the Sichuan earthquake in China, and many more.

Yoshiki's previous auction with Points of Light was a "Private Dinner /w Yoshiki", which closed at 37,100 USD.

"It's been over 15 years since I first moved to the US, and charity work is very much a part of people's everyday life, this has also grown to be a part of mine as well. Your mission to: 'Make a wish come true', very much resonates with my passion which is why I have, and would like to continue supporting your organization and all of its many efforts," Yoshiki says.

The online auction opened at 1 a.m. (US PST) on Friday, October 26th and will close one week later at 1 a.m. (US PST) on Friday, November 2nd.  To place your bid, please visit:

HOLLYWOOD, CA, December 20, 2013 - In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Golden Globe Awards®, the show's musical theme, composed by Japanese superstar Yoshiki, will soon be available for download on iTunes. Written for the awards ceremony by the classically trained multi-instrumentalist and leader of one of Japan's most successful rock groups, X-Japan, the theme will be available for download as a full-length digital single in 111 countries starting January 15, 2013. All proceeds from sales of the single will be donated to charity.

"It's such an honor to be a part of this esteemed event which is enjoyed by hundreds of millions around the world," said Yoshiki. "Composing this music was a journey that involved creating numerous versions in order to arrive at just the right sound to capture the unique combination of glamour and edginess that makes the Golden Globe Awards so entertaining. I'm very proud of the result and am thrilled that Warner Music has chosen to make it available around the world."

Yoshiki recorded the theme, which opens the show and is used at other key moments during the broadcast, in his native Japan. He played many of the instruments himself before adding a full string orchestra.

"To have world-renowned musician Yoshiki compose the theme song for the Golden Globes is an honor for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and we are delighted that the single is now being released worldwide," said HFPA President Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly. "Our international organization recognizes the most accomplished entertainers in film, television and music, and Yoshiki certainly fits right in among our honorees,"

All profits from the iTunes sales of the single will be donated to charities chosen by the HFPA.

YOSHIKI Twitter Q&A to take place on August 6th
August 2, 2014

X JAPAN's co-founder and leader YOSHIKI tweeted that he will announce big news on August 6th via his official Twitter account (@YoshikiOfficial) during a special Q&A session, where he will answer questions from fans using the hashtag #AskYoshiki.

YOSHIKI successfully completed "Yoshiki Classical World Tour Part I" after 13 shows in 10 countries in June, which was followed by a performance in front of 4,000 European fans at the 15th annual JAPAN EXPO in Paris. Yoshiki is scheduled to make an appearance and perform at OTAKON on August 9th and 10th, an anime culture event happening in Maryland, featuring guest performers PATA and HEATH from X JAPAN.

Tickets for X JAPAN's highly anticipated October 11th concert at Madison Square Garden are available for purchase on August 1st. (The GA floor tickets were sold out within the hour of sale.)

Since their debut at Rockefeller Center press conference in New York on August 24th 1992, X Japan's explosive live show has captivated a worldwide audience. The band has had a notoriously tumultuous career, which includes the loss of two of its five founding members to tragic death and breakups. Despite its hardships, the band has steadfastly maintained the X Japan vision and brought themselves together to perform this October where their U.S. story started, in New York City.

This performance will no doubt be a historical event. The band will be performing both fan favorites and previously unreleased music from their decades of recordings.

In June 2014, "THE WORLD -X JAPAN- The World's First Best of Album" was released after 13 years since their last release. On August 6th (Japan Time), YOSHIKI will announce details of an exclusive Japan concert during his Twitter Q&A. Fans can tweet in their questions using the hashtag #AskYoshiki.

X Japan to get U.S. Documentary

Rock band X Japan is set to film a documentary filmed by Stephen Kijak at their upcoming Madison Square Garden concert date in New York City on October 11.

Formed in 1982, X Japan’s journey to stardom is filled with much dramatic back story, persevering through breakups and the deaths of two members and selling over 30 million albums and singles to this day. The band originally disbanded in 1997 but reunited in 2007 as if nothing had changed, selling out their previous Madison Square Garden date back in 2010.

The band’s co-founding drummer-pianist-songwriter Yoshiki and the rest of X Japan are planned to appear before their concert at New York Comic Con where they take part of a panel with Marvel legend Stan Lee and talk about the comic book based on based on the band’s leader.

Thanks Becky for the news tip!

And the article on Deadline on which the above Arama! Japan article was based:

Quote
‘Searching For Sugarman’ Exec Producer Plots Docu On Rockers X Japan

EXCLUSIVE: Award-winning producer John Battsek (Searching For Sugarman, The Imposter) is ramping up for a new feature documentary on glam rock/hair metal band X Japan. Megastars in its native Asia who sell out arenas overseas, X Japan has yet to break stateside with as much success. Formed in 1982, X Japan’s evolution into glam-metal-pop superstars is laden with as much dramatic backstory as any international rock outfit. The lineup, anchored by co-founding drummer-pianist-songwriter Yoshiki, has navigated breakups and the deaths of two members while selling over 30 million albums and singles to date.

With director Stephen Kijak (Scott Walker: 30 Century Man, Stones In Exile) at the helm, principal photography on the Passion Pictures production will begin October 11 at New York’s Madison Square Garden when the band plays their first U.S. concert since 2010. New York also is where X Japan first landed stateside when it signed with Atlantic Records in 1992.

While lesser known in the States, X Japan enjoys icon status in Japan, where its glam fashion and musical aesthetics were influential on other bands and youngsters in the “visual-kei” rock movement. When original member Hide Matsumoto hanged himself at age 33, it spawned a wave of copycat suicide attempts. His face still is projected as a hologram onstage during X Japan shows, where he’s still introduced as a member of the band.

Yoshiki and X Japan are set to appear this month at New York Comic-Con with Marvel legend Stan Lee, who with Todd McFarlane created the Blood Red Dragon comic inspired by Yoshiki. Yoshiki is repped by WME.

X Japan Announces World Premiere of Documentary Film 'WE ARE X' at Sundance Film Festival
January 22, 2016

As X JAPAN lay down tracks in a Los Angeles studio for their as-yet-untitled album,  Japan's most iconic rock band have announced that the world premiere of the new documentary film from Passion Pictures--'WE ARE X'--will take place this week at the Sundance Film Festival.

'WE ARE X' explores the evolution, groundbreaking history, and hopeful future of the land of the rising sun's most legendary rock group. X JAPAN have sold 30 million singles and albums combined and continue to tour the world performing sold-out shows to massive arenas in 16 countries throughout the U.S. and Europe.

On Friday, January 22 at 9pm, YOSHIKI -- songwriter, drummer, classically-trained pianist, and the creative force of X JAPAN -- will perform live with a string quartet for the first-ever Sundance Festival Base Camp party presented by Canada Goose. YOSHIKI will headline the Festival Base Camp (http://www.sundance.org/blogs/flying-lotus-neon-indian-dan-deacon-to-perform-at-the-sundance-film-festival), a new outdoor venue located at Swede Alley behind Main Street. Other artists confirmed to perform include Dan Deacon, Flying Lotus, and Neon Indian.

"It's overwhelming to see the full documentary 'WE ARE X,'" says Yoshiki of X JAPAN. "Stephen Kijak and John Battsek opened doors, which I shut and never intended to re-open. I didn't realize that on the other side, dark memories could co-exist with a meaningful future. Audiences will be a witness to our history and future."

Saturday, January 23 will mark the world premiere of 'WE ARE X' in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at Prospector Square Theater in Park City at 2:30pm. YOSHIKI and the film team will be on hand for the red carpet at 2:00pm and a Q&A after the premiere. 'WE ARE X' was created by the production team behind the Academy Award-winning film Searching For Sugarman: producer John Battsek (Passion Pictures) alongside renowned director Stephen Kijak (Stones In Exile) and Scott Walker: 30 Century Man-- (executive produced by David Bowie). From X JAPAN's massive success (over 30 million albums, singles and videos sold) and sold-out tours worldwide, 'WE ARE X' chronicles the triumphs and tragedies of this legendary quintet who will never give up. On Sunday, January 24, YOSHIKI will perform live at the ASCAP CAFÉ (http://www.ascap.com/eventsawards/events/sundance/2016/artists/x-japan.aspx) at Sundance at 4:00pm. For the full Sundance 2016 schedule for performances and screenings of 'WE ARE X,' see the grid below.

X JAPAN guitarist PATA diagnosed with diverticulitis and pylethrombosis
February 4, 2016

It's been reported that X JAPAN guitarist PATA has been diagnosed with diverticulitis and pylethrombosis, making it difficult for him to be musically active. As such, the band have announced that they will temporarily halt their activities.

On January 15, PATA was suddenly hospitalized and admitted into the intensive care unit. He is currently receiving IV drip and is in a state of reduced activity.

Due to this urgent situation, X JAPAN's concert "X Japan World Tour 2016 #XDAY", which was originally scheduled to be held on March 12 at The SSE Arena, Wembley in England, will be rescheduled to March 4, 2017. As for the release date of their new album (currently untitled, March 11 release), it will be announced after further discussion.

We hope PATA gets well soon!

Was just randomly going through Youtube, and found these 2 girls who did an INCREDIBLE cover of one of my favorite X-Japan songs, Say Anything.

I'm so sorry it happened, but a gust of wind blew up. I talked to the Queen afterwards and Her Majesty was very sweet.

"Yoshiki’s scarf came into contact with the monarch during a gust of wind."

Note: Gillian Anderson is the ‘freaking out’ expression lady.
