They've just released a new CD this week called "8 Carat Princess".

Official site:

http://www.jvcmusic.co.jp/80pan/

Unfortunately no new DVDs yet, but hopefully they'll release a new DVD soon.

I really like them. They have some fun songs and stuff and I thought their first album was great.
Looks like they've changed their name so.....yeah.

Name is sort of changed and sort of the same.  Harenchi Panchi used to get shortened to 80pan - HarePan.  It's always been their website address.  So they changed their name from their fullname to the shortened nickname version of that name instead.

New mini-album is fun though.  I'm lazy so I'll just quote myself from when I was talking about the video from it:
Quote
One of these days I definitely need to learn their names, instead of always referring to them as "the singer girl," "the rapper girl," and "the chorus/guitar girl." It's always amusing in their songs when you're watching them and thinking "Hmmm, singer girl's been singing for a while, rapper girl's part must be coming up soon." They don't really intermix them or make the transitions smooth. Still, new song, bit of a new look, and a new backup band. If I really think about it I think the main reason I like them is because of how constructed they are for me to like them. If someone made a trap and tried to push me in I'd resist, but if they instead just pointed out to me where their trap was I'd probably jump right in of my own free will.

The video kept doing Matrix pauses and zoom arounds for no apparent reason. And guitar girl continues to remind me of Ogura Yuko, at least if Ogura played the guitar. Which is not a bad thing, just kind of an odd thing. It'll be interesting to see how the album this is from turns out.

I like 'em since I had the chance to see a small live performance of their debut single in summer 2005. The best was the meet & greet afterwards though...and being the only non-japanese guy there^^

Anyway, thanks for the link to the album! :)

Finally get to hear the new album. Wasn't too bad. It seems like they wanted to switch to a more hardcore sound or something. I kinda dig it though.

Kira Kira sounded almost exactly like a song by B'z. I guess they took it and modify it to fit their style. Don't think it worked out that well...  :O

listened to the new album. Wasn't as infectious as their first album and that was sort of a downer as I loved their crazy poppy songs. XD But it was pretty solid. I actually liked Kira Kira. It was one of my favorite tracks lol The first track, Monster Drive is really good as well, I love it. The album as a whole felt very Zone.

The new album is good but I don't know what is missing as I prefer the first album more.
