Shukan AKB

Weekly on Fridays at 17:30 - 18:00
Hosts: Speedwagon

This show is aimed to promote girls who haven't been featured that much, according to Aki-P. There are some SKE folks in the back, but other than that it's been the same old girls mostly

This show really resembles Haromoni. Rollercoaster rides, hunted house, exploring cities etc.

The good thing about this show is that some girls get a lot of individual screen time as they usually only feature two teams consisting of two girls.

It's great cuz we still get the 'real fun' in AKBingo and this show is kind of like a bonus

Lordly lord. I just got did my 1st ever post regarding AKB & Japanese variety shows and now here's another! AND this time JUST about Shukan so I can yap and yap like a deranged fanboy.

So far so good. Every episode has something to look forward to. Be it standing-at-an-intersection-popularity-contest, rollercoasters, hole-in-face-poster things, eating spicy food, eating celebrity visited restaurants and surely, haunted houses. The latest episode with the 'wild hair' producer also had me laughing since we get to see the girls act naturally off camera.

The only thing I would like it to copy more of Hello! Morning are, the epic English lesson class (just rip it off, invite Thane Camus, everybody outside Japan will rejoice!) and surprise wake up call (a MUST I tell you, A MUST!).

^We did get to see some English bits in Nemousu, but you are definitely right! Just invite Thane and let the good times roll!

Wake-up calls would be sweet as well.. I don't think I've ever seen an AKB one.

Finally another interesting Shukan! It's Part 2 of the Spicy Food challenge!

^Spicy food challenge 2 was indeed great fun to watch and the highlight for me was Moeno's total collapse at the second challenge. Just too adorable.

This week's episode (18 Sept) might just be a classic and must-sub. As if H!P fans were not mad enough with AKB 'stealing' 'their' stuff (sports festival, finger electricity, musicals), TV Tokyo producers opted to do a Chukan (mid term) Test episode! It's just like the famous Mechaike Momusu Test episode only more condensed.

While it might not be a true reflection of who is the smartest/dumbest member of AKB (not all members were present) it was great fun to watch the girls strive or struggle with the questions (nope I didn't understand a word of it). Then the best 3 was announce and also the worst 3 with the last placed girl having to go through a batsu game! Watch it to find out!

Oh man.. just watched the episode. There is so much I want to comment about.

1. My view of most of the girls was correct!
2. I was kinda surprised by who was the 'dumbest' girl

I knew Erena would be up there.. it's amazing she confirmed my exact opinion about her. Not to bash her or anything, she has other strengths.
3. They even stole the punishment game from a certain H!M Fujimoto Special

4. I need to update my favorite list. I like smart girls, so some of them deserve bonus points and some of them drop down the list.

I'm so happy Matsui Rena did well! I knew it!

It's cool that they showed the full list of results. Maeda was pretty bad as well, which wasn't that much of a surprise, really. Kojiharu was good enough, she's much more 'with it' than she gets credit for. Would've been fun to see how MaiMai would've done

I really liked this week Shukan,of course it reminds me the morning musume test,like everyone =D but it was very funny to see and one of my favoutite episodes so far,I hope someone is going to sub it !This ep can become a classic!

I thought about subbing it, but an episode like this is very complex and very time consuming... I'm definitely not up for it at this point

Sasshi really surprised me this episode. I thought she would react differently to the whole thing.

Excellent gifs! I also liked how Kasai grabbed her face when jumping down

and Moeno's jump looked extremely painful.. she jumped too straight, which I assume should have had quite an impact on her knees when the cord stretched out.. but luckily she looked fine afterwards.

This week's ep is interesting as well!

The worst three girls on the mid-term are being trained by the top 4 students! In addition, Shinoda (who gets to pick her coach) is added for random entertainment

The girl with the lowest score AND her trainer(s) get a penalty game

*spoiler alert highlight to view* As I was watching this, I was thinking in the back of my head that when Sasshi succeeds and I finish the episode, I'll pop open Photoshop and take a screengrab of her hanging from the Bungie, add some lens flare, and make an awesome little signature avatar, maybe even write yuusha(brave) in Kanji on it. Awesome idea, man.

Oh well, at least I will go to bed on time tonight.

Sasshi-centric episodes are never a waste of time, though.

In fact, her epic failure only makes me like her more, because I'd be just like her. I ain't jumping off a fucking ledge 42 meters high! I'd just take her on the Ferris Wheel and buy her ice cream.

Still love Sasshi, I respect that she doesn't feel forced into doing something she's not comfortable with. It could have scarred her for life. In addition, Moeno is supercute and seems like a great friend to Sasshi.

Overall, it was a great ep of Shukan.

The free throw competition was so nerve wracking! [bgcolor=#131313]Nice rally by Tomochin! \o/ It was Team B's to lose, and lose they did. All they needed was 1 out of 3![/bgcolor] That platform game was kinda..weird. Made me wonder why they'd even have something like that. [bgcolor=#131313]Oshima was all "oops, did I win?" after she destroyed Maeda [/bgcolor] I thought the relay had way too many people in it, you could barely see anyone really showing off their running skills.

That said..
