Meet AVEX's new idol group Tokyo Girls' Style. It consists of 5 girls who love to sing and dance. They plan to not only promote in Japan, but all across Asia. They will begin performing together this February.

Avex launches new idol group
Avex has unveiled a new five-member idol group called Tokyo Joshiryu (also known as Tokyo Girls' Style). This is the first girl group created by Avex since SweetS in 2003. The five members were revealed one per day, starting on January 1. On Wednesday, Avex officially launched the group's website, which finally includes a picture of them together. The group consists of leader Miyu Yamabe, Ayano Konishi, Hitomi Arai, Yuri Nakae, and Mei Shoji, who are reportedly between the ages of 11 and 13. Tokyo Joshiryu is aiming to be active not just in Japan, but throughout the rest of Asia as well. They do not yet have a CD release planned, but their first official live performance will be on February 7 at Shibuya O-Nest. The group has already opened a blog, a Mixi page, and a Twitter account.

Yeah, no release news yet. They appear on DJ Tomoaki's radio show on the 11th and I'm hoping someone rips this for us (not likely, I know). They have a lot of lives lined up, and they've finished recording their single now, so it should only be a matter of time.

They've had a year of training as a group already, and they've been active with at least something for years now.
Plus, AVEX has never produced a BAD girl group (...unless I blocked it out of my memory) so I think we can count on them being good. <3

Hey guys! There are two birthdays to celebrate! On June 24 will be Miyu’s birthday and she will be turning 14. And on the 28 it will be Yuri’s birthday. She will be turning 13. Ever wished that you could get a chance to support another idol group from the beginning to experience the satisfaction of watching them grow up and become something from nothing? Well, here is that opportunity! I can't wait to see them on the Oricon Chart! I wonder what song will be produced that will bring them into the main stream? I guess i will just have to wait and see! Anyways I have decided my order of favorites! Although it may change...

This is an account of how my morning got started on September 20, 2010:
“Expect the Unexpected”
So, early this morning my mobile phone starts beeping and I think: ‘Wow, the time to get up came awfully quick this morning!” I grab my phone (because I also use it for my alarm) to press the snooze button and I see “ message received.” Looking at the time I thought, who in the world would be sending me a message at 1:50am?” I open it and to my surprise I see: Yuri_TGSJP: # TGSlive! Sleepily, I thought how did she get my number? Than I remembered I joined her friend list on Twitter. Immediately I jumped out of bed and ran to my computer and signed into Ustream and waited for the show.
The first few times I watched I was not a member of Ustream but, this time around I had made an account and I was able to chat with them!!! Right around 2am (my time) the broadcast started and I saw them gathered around a table talking and checking out the Ipad. I didn’t type much because I was mostly listening and watching. My first message was to my favorite, Yuri Nakae: “Yuri-chan kawaii!!! \(^o^)/” and a short time later she said: “Arigato gozaimasu!” while holding her phone. I was watching and she set her phone down and smiled. Just as she set it down my phone blew up with a message from her!!! It was: Yuri_ TGSJP: (--;() #TGSlive. I thought “Awww what a sweetheart! She sent me a text flower!!! She IS my favorite of the group!!! This is actually pretty cool! I am going to have to hang out with them more often!”
Than I typed “Tokyo Joshiryu ganbatte kudasai!” in which I got no response- but that’s ok! Soon there after, they moved off cam and Yuri jumped in frame and says “JAAN!!!” and she had her hood on her head which had ears like a dog on it!! I bursted with laughter because she was SOOOO adorable!!! Then she started barking and meowing that made her SUPER CUTE!!! I was floored with laughter and tears!!! SHE IS MY FAVORITE of the group!!!!
Than they sat back down and played a game with a pirate in a barrel that they stuck plastic knives into. Guess who won? If you picked Yuri, you are correct!!! I was cheering and clapping for her! She was the only one not to “stab” the pirate and make it “jump” out of the barrel!
Sadly, time ran out and they we sitting down to eat at the end of the broadcast. They said their goodbyes and they went off the air. However, a few minutes later when I was just about to turn off my computer and go back to bed, Yuri blew up my phone again!!! She sent this picture she took with her phone:

In closing, even though I only had a few hours of sleep today, I was in very high spirits. I really enjoyed interacting with them for the first time. As for how Yuri Nakae became my favorite, she has a certain “shine” that she carries which I see and like. I it kind of hard to describe but the first time I saw them in thier first video she just stood out from the rest to me. And it wasn’t because of her hats that she wore in the first two singles. I am going to love cheering for, supporting Tokyo Joshiryu, and watching my favorite Yuri Nakae also the rest of the group, grow up.

I just love hanging out with them during live streaming! I had spent the day with them yesterday 10-9-10 from 6pm to 4am (my time) and it was so AWESOME!!! Watched them do a rehearsal and perform at one place. After they were being taken to lunch they all fell asleep on the way! They were so CUTE sleeping! After lunch back in the car they were singing songs playing on the car speakers on their way to another show at CROSS STREET- that place is tiny!!! Hardly any room for them to dance in. Anyway, they did a fine job and I was rooting for them the whole time!!! The best part was actually talking to them!!! The more I watch the more Yuri Nakae pulls ahead as my favorite! She is my #1 favorite and I cheer for her much more than the others.

On October 17th, there will be a special girl idol event at the Shibuya Glad, called, “LIVE*015 ‘Harouinrori Pop’“. The event will feature female idol groups Tokyo Girls’ Style and Momoiro Clover on the same day, and both groups will doing a live Ustream broadcast of their segments.
Tokyo Girls’ Style mentioned a story involving their live stream event for the release of their single, “Himawari to Hoshikuzu/Kitto Wasurenai…,” on October 10th. Apparently Tokyo Girls’ Style had used the location right after it was used for a Momoiro Clover event. One of the Momoiro members had forgotten her headdress from their new single at the site, and instead of having it returned to the member through their manager, Tokyo Girls’ Style said that they wanted to deliver it personally themselves at their joint event on the 17th.
It is very unusual to see such a “promise” between two idols, especially in this era of idol group rivalries. Those who missed the exchange between the two groups earlier will be able to see it in the archive section of the Ustream channel.
The October 17th event will feature both idol groups, and everyone should make sure to tune into the live event to see the special encounter and friendship between Tokyo Girls’ Style and Momoiro Clover.

Something strange happened! The fans of each group started to go to the other's Ustream show and watch at the same time! Even i myself went to watch a few songs of Momoiro Clover! I saw some of thier fans post in Tokyo Girls' Style channel! However, the concert in Nogoya had over 1000 viewers and that is where they gave the headdress back to Momoiro Clover. I couldn't get a screen shot because I was busy cheering for Tokyo Girls' Style! It was an epic event!!! History was made on 10-17-2010!!! It was a great event for both groups and fans alike!

This Group, Tokyo Girls' Style, is fast becoming my favorite group outside of Hello! Project. I love hanging out with them and cheer for them as much as I can. They are all so very talented and awesome singers/ dancers! I will continue supporting as much as I can because I understand they are working very hard and thier goal is set very high. I really like TGS, but I keep getting the feeling I've heard some of their songs before. Do they do many/any covers because I keep getting déjà vu listening to some of their tracks. :? ;) :panic:

Of course it is, because TGS is covering SweetS songs, other avex group which had been disbanded. Well, they not covering all of SweetS song, just covering some of them. Although I didn't know whether they covers other song beside Love Like Candy Floss :lol:

Love Like Candy Floss is the only one I was pretty sure was a cover.
So you say they are covering other songs (from avex). That's good then, I wasn't imagining things. I may not know the other songs but I've obviously heard them in the past. :P Sweet!

It seems that TGS have two styles of music - the first is music about Baseball/random sports (Ganbatte, Itsudatte, Shinjite/We Will Win), and the second is fantastic music.
For some reason, the first type seems seriously lacking, in comparison to everything else they do. For example, with Limited Addiction, both it, and Don't Be Cruel are utterly amazing, while We Will Win! just doesn't fit in well.
They all sound good - but whereas the sports stuff is merely 'good', everything else is superb.
Just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

oh Finally found the TGS thread in JP!HP,
I just want to write a minor review about the TGS live on the 24th December at Nakano Sun Plaza.
Me and 3 of my friends was waiting outside of Nakano sun plaza at about 6.30 as written on the ticket but the lines wasn't moving yet. It was quite some time before we even got it but like any other typical Japanese concert long lines aren't even a problem when it started moving. I got an aisle seat, pretty far at the back though but good enough space to move around and to do any furimane and I was exactly right next to those guys with the huge sound mixer or something like that.
It has been quite a while so I have forgotten the setlist that day. But they sang SPEED's White love that day. and towards the 2nd half, it was a medley of 6 songs with the latest single that is about to come out this January, TGS18. Girls were complaining that the company had actually skipped #17 XD/ TGS18 was really good though, upbeat and hyper.
the transition between the 1st and 2nd half was really fun, they brought down a screen and showed like a live cam of them rushing back to the changing room to change to the next costume. The girls were panicking screaming "faster faster!" and everyone was picking on Ayano. Mei was done real fast though. That's quite new to me, and its really fun.
The concert that day was backed up by live band, and towards the end of it the audience had fun chanting for the band members just as loud as them chanting for the girls.
I don't really watch their uStream shows very often, due to unavoidable reasons but after watching this live I really liked how the girls handle their MC parts. I'm not sure whether it is scripted or not but it really looks natural and they are naturally funny. Miyu don't really talk much though but Ayano, Yuri, Hitomi and Mei pretty much floored the segment well.
During Liar, Mei's skirt came off a bit earlier that it should have been and she threw them out like 40 seconds before the original choreography. So she was like the only with the short pants for 40 seconds XD But she was all cool about it, didn't seemed panic at all.
After the concert, I wanted to buy some goods, but the lines were darn long, so yeah I gave up and looked for their stuff elsewhere. I kind of like how TGS is not trying to milk every cent that you have like other idols, their goods are pretty general and not member specific.

I just started liking TGS right during Limited Addiction, though I have seen them performing Himawari to Hoshikuzu during 2010's Shimokita Idol Fest. TGS back then, didn't really capture my attention except for the Himawari to Hoshikuzu but now the group's song list is pretty solid. I think right after this Nakano live, I'm pretty much sealed as a fan XD so yeah... Bring the new SINGLE!!!

So I went to the CONCERT 03 at Ya-on Hibiya Koen today. I was at the last two concert too(at Ginka theater and Nakano Sunplaza) but this one is by far their best performance.
There's a couple of announcement made today. One is that the group is taking a break for two months to "level up" their performance(probably from after the Sendai live until Yubimatsuri). But the big announcement is that Joshiryuu will be performing at the Budoukan on 22nd December. The producer Satake-san said that the staff were not confidence whether Joshiryuu can fill up the Budoukan but they decided to go with it. Momoiro Clover Z also sent a short video congratulating the members for the scheduled Budoukan appearance.
They also performed their new song TGS23 titled "Lolita Strawberry in Summer", a cover of SweetS song but with a heavy rock arrange. I liked the song but the dance was a bit unlike Joshiryuu for me(there's a part where the members lifted their shirt a bit showing their stomach in the chorus part. A bit too sexy for my liking). From what I can remember, Mei got a lot of line for this song is a must look forward for all Mei fans :heart:

I wonder why they are taking a break anyway. Their performance is up there with the real artists. If there's one area that Joshiryuu can improve, it's their MCs. Their MCs today seems like unplanned and ended up being too long. I hope after the two months break they can improve in all area and I really hope AVEX give them the exposure that they deserve.

there's this thing with TGS where they put numbers on their original songs. This also includes new arrangements of some songs they covered.
if you check their japanese wiki (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%9D%B1%E4%BA%AC%E5%A5%B3%E5%AD%90%E6%B5%81) and look for TGSナンバー (TGS number), they're all listed there.
TGS23 is a new arrangement of SweetS first single- LolitA☆Strawberry in summer.
as for momoclo, they did a joint live before where they did performances up against each other, and also a bunch of other idol events. I guess that's one of the reasons they're close.

I am having real problems identifying which girl is which right now. Can anyone please identify them left to right in these vids... and also, do they always tend to line up in the same order on stage and in promo pics, to help fans know who is who? Hoping someone who knows this group better than me, can give us wannabe fans some hints here :P

"Get the Star" is pretty different but it's probably the best song I've heard from TGS in a while. Wouldn't mind if they explored this kind of sound some more on future singles.

Hi everyone! I'm a bit sleepy at the moment but I hope this is a good post. Outside of Hello! Project TGS has become my most favorite group. I try to keep up with them as much as I can and I think I remember Miyu posting that Last Forever was actually written by them- meaning the girls wrote the song so, it must be very special. Anyways yes, I absolutely LOVE TGS and I'm happy to help support and promote them as much as I can! This is the latest update!

Tokyo Girls' Style member Konishi Ayano to leave the group + retire from showbiz
December 30, 2015
TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE member Konishi Ayano will be graduating from the group and retiring from the showbiz industry.
Konishi has been on hiatus since June in order to concentrate on treating her back issues. Regarding the reason for her graduation, Konishi explained, "I lost my confidence to keep up with the group who is aiming further ahead. It doesn't feel right to be part of it with this half-hearted attitude. I could even stand in the way of them. Thus I have made this decision."
Regarding her future, she wrote, "Though it will be a different way, I will try my best with confidence, so I won't lose to the members who are charging head first toward their dreams."
With Konishi's graduation, TOKYO GIRLS' STYLE will continue their activities as a 4-member group.
