Because I'm a curious doink, I wondered what web browsers JPH!P members commonly use.
I use Firefox. I like the extensions, it's open source and it's safer than IE.

And how about people that use more then one...
(browser wars! :) )
Currently 95% IE7, 5% Firefox.
And FF is not really 'more secure' then IE7, there where a few goofs in updates lately...
And they still need to fix the memory leak in FF.
BTW, zero plugins used/needed (although I might need a popup blocker for FF someday. some sites are starting to annoy me that start when I view pictures from ImageShack)
-
Firefox, though I don't have near as many extensions as doinkies has.
-
firefox
imageshack toolbar
tab mix plus
veoh
foxytunes
twitter
portuguese and english dictionary
save image in folder
ietab
fasterfox
and i thinks thats all
-
FF + 45 extensions (I'm too lazy to list them all XD)
-
I use Opera myself and Firefox on occasion, to test web code and whatever.
Maybe I've grown accustomed to Opera or something, I just don't see myself moving to FF. Maybe if I find some plugin I just can't live without...
-
Firefox with a handful of vital extensions. I also have Opera installed because even now I'll occasionally (rarely) come across a page that simply will not work in FF but will in Opera, go figure. I haven't opened IE in ages.
-
I've been using Firefox ever since I discovered it. I only open IE when I need to access the intranet site at work and when I need to download something from Megaupload. XD
-
FF2
- Foxmarks
- Download Statusbar
- Firebug
- bbs2chreader
- RikaiChan
trying Safari 3β for PC...
-
I use Opera for years now. I have for some stubborn webmasters that don't want to make their sites compatible FF too, usage nearly zero.
-
FF with only 4 extensions.
Don't need or want anymore, those do fine.
-
Firefox.
Along with rikaichan and locale switcher.
-
I like livin' on the edge
IE6 mwahahahaha!!
actually I'm using mostly Opera now I think FF sucks your RAM and I really hate that kinda thing happening.
-
Firefox.
-
90% FF with only 1 extension Rikaichan
10% IE for manual windows update, surfing certain chinese sites.
-
Internet Explorer ebcause I can't stand Firefox...I just can't be arsed with all the shortcuts and shit, I'd rather just ahev the buttons in front of me. I do use it whenever I'm using megaupload though as IE decided one day that it would block it...hmm.
-
Opera. And Opera mini in my cellphone.
Occasionally Firefox when I'm in need of some extensions.
I just like Opera better... I probably could change Firefox to my liking by trying and installing tens of extensions. But I don't feel like doing it :)
-
Opera.
IE6 for the few sites that Opera can't handle.
-
Opera 99% of the time, and Firefox when Opera doesn't display a page correctly. Mostly because Opera is faster and more secure than Firefox (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html).
-

I noticed that too when I used FF on my dads laptop. Seems to take much more ram than Opera which I use on my own comp.
-
FF, still haven't been convinced to go back to IE. May give Opera a shot.
-
Firefox.
Extensions:
Adblock Plus

Same here. In my case, sometimes Forefox gets to be faster than Opera, but that's only when I abuse my computer. Most of the time, Opera works better for me.
If not for the extensions and the eventual incompatibility, I wouldn't use Firefox at all. 8)
-
Firefox.
It's just the most stable and reliable for me. I've tried Avant, but it was too IE-based and I don't like IE. Opera is pretty good, I have it, but it's just a back-up browser.
The only extension I have with FF is Ad-Block Plus, I don't see the need for a whole bunch of them.
-
I'm using firefox. although I don't use a lot of its expansion, one of my favorite feature is 'recently closed tab' because I often close a tab accidentally XD
-
^ That DOES come in handy, doesn't it? ;D
-
I'm using firefox. although I don't use a lot of its expansion, one of my favorite feature is 'recently closed tab' because I often close a tab accidentally XD
yep, it's a must-have XD
-
I use Firefox. I have a number of extensions, some of which I use more often than others.
-
I've used Opera before (back when it was ad supported). It's pretty good but Firefox fits my needs better at the moment (and I use the method listed in the Geek Guides subforum to deal with the memory problems).
And yeah, I do have many extensions, don't I
Well, at least I don't have as many as this guy does:
Now there's a lot of extensions...
-
^ Shit that's waaaaaaaaaaaay too cluttered. :o
-
And then to remember that people switched to FF because IE was taking up to much memory and required to much plugins to do 'anything usefull'... how the times change nothing ;)
-
I use Firefox and Opera most of the time, but I think mt winner would have to be Firefox.
Nowadays I only use IE when something is not working right with either Firefox or Opera.
-
I'm using firefox and sometimes using opera
but i vote for firefox :D
-
I'm using FF most of the time.

IE when an image or something doesn't show up. I have Opera too but don't know how to download torrents with it. Opera is faster for me and sometimes I can see things that don't show up on FF. The AA's are misaligned unfortunately on Opera....turned into Eririn-like drawings...
-
Firefox for me with flash stopper to stop flash  and flash got add on
-
I've been using firefox for years now. It's a decent browser.
It had better pop-up blocker and tabbed browsing when IE6 still didn't had those.
-
I use Firefox primary although theres still some sites where it isnt compatible with FF, so i use IE for those.
-
been using firefox since i got my laptop, never touched IE once. thinking of getting opera as a secondary browser too
-
Converted to FF long time ago.. The add-ons are useful and add more functionality. 2nd place is Opera, which I think it\'s faster than Firefox and friendlier to memory .. Use Opera on my old specs xp box at home which has 128MB ram lol..
-
I use firefox, had some plugins but a lot of times when I get the firefox updates they no longer are compatible with the newer version so I just get lazy trying to check for a newer version. I had the black japan theme for firefox but that too went kaput when the FF 2.0 update came. I use IE scarcely only for certain situations where I can't do something in firefox.
-
Still using Firefox for 3 years, anyway this is my currently extension
Greasemonkey
IDM CC
Megaupload SX 3.2
Megaupload Toolbar 1.0.8.3
ReloadEvery 2.0
SmartWhois Launcher 1.5
Talkback 2.0.0.11 Tweak Network 1.1.1
Veoh Browser Plug-in 1.2
Yahoo Toolbar
-
Firefox.
But I just use two extensions, I don't really need more.
-
I use Camino (http://caminobrowser.org/)! Have been using it since I started on Macs, so that makes it... hmm. About four or five years I suppose!
-
Lynx.
-
OPERAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Then I use FF if some site works better with it, like Photobucket (sometimes Opera logs me out while I'm uploading some pic). But yeah, Opera o/
-
i´m used to FF but Opera works really good... i tried safari for windows but i don´t really need another browser XD... i really don´t know pages that opera or firefox can´t open.
-
i was using opera for a while but i just recently switched to seamonkey (just to be different XD )
-
i use flashpeak slimbrowser.

^ So... with FF you are not allowed to have fun...
;)
-
i use internet explorer.. firefox doesnt like my computer for some odd reason, and i cant seem to fix the problem that i do get from firefox.
-
I use plain Firefox. Don´t want to mess with tons of pluggins.
-
I use firefox mostly. I never really did like IE, but have to use it for some things like windows update, that is if I dare to do it :) Aslo I have used one called flock, which is kind of a firefox clone, its a bit weird, but its ok.
-

Same here!
-
Firefox  Love it, hehe XD but I still use IE for the things that doesn't work in Firefox and damn I voted here a long time ago but haven't posted XD
-
Firefox and Safari
-
Foxy's doing the Lynx. That's hardcore!
I'm a firefoxer myself. Coz of ABP. Can't live without it.
-
Wow, no love for Safari here! (and rightly so IMO, I have a Mac laptop and Safari is  )
I'm a Firefox guy. It just... wins. Sure, it eats memory, but every browser does these days. My extensions I can name off the top of my head: Adblock Plus. DownloadThemAll, some youtube downloader one. I've cut back a lot.
-
Firefox 3
My extensions:
Rikaichan
Foxlingo
NoScript
And that's it :w00t:
-
I have about three browsers. But most of the time I yes Firefox 3, though don't have too much extensions. Second place - Opera. But for now it's just too cluttered by different tabs I don't want to close. :P
And when I'm on my linux machine - I use Konqueror. Pretty much browsers I think.
Though my vote went to firefox :P
-
firefox ftw
-
Added a Chrome option to the poll. :)
-
Removes my old vote, and adds one to Chrome..
-
Yeah I've been trying out Chrome today and seems really simple and fast.
Also this quick reply box has a little tab on it that lets me resize it to however large I want :o and that seems to be a standard feature built in to Chrome :o
Although I can't use my middle mouse button to scroll :(
-
I use opera which suits me well since on average-ish i have about..15 tabs open at once.
Opera seems to cope with that number best and goes between them easily and such.
and at ebc comment on the scroll...wtf? That would really annoy me. At school most computers dont have one and it gets so annoying scrolling down pages actually using the scroll bar.
They need to fix that.
-
I use Flock & love it!
It's like a baby sister (or something) of FF so it was the 'recently closed tabs' thing and, my fave thing, the downloads window... Originally I d/led coz of the Photobucket uploading features it has coz sometimes I need to upload hundreds of pictures at a time so I need Flock's drag and drop. Back then I was only using it for that and as back up when IE and FF weren't working... Now those two refuse to open most of my usual sites (incl. this one) so I've dumped them and only use Flock, which is sooo much faster than they ever were!
I haven't used all the features on here yet (even if I have had it for years XD) but a couple of the media features (eg. friends activity for Facebook & Youtube on homepage) are really interesting.
Oh and coz it's so fast, I don't bother with all the toolbars like google that I had on IE, it's just as fast to open a newtab and go that way.... it already has the built in spell check thing, so I don't need to add it on or anything... and I think it's pretty
-
^ I use Flock too, and I love it. The only problem for me is that it takes forever to open/load the program...
-
flock is really just firefox with a bunch of extra features to make it "easier" to use a bunch of social networking type stuff. Being what it is, I don't think it would be possible for it to outperform firefox, unless you add a bunch of add-ons. I really wouldn't be surprised if there were add-ons that did what the extras on flock do, with better performance, but the interface and options probably wouldn't be as well integrated or user friendly.
As for me, I can't ditch firefox just yet. I'll have to wait and see what features chrome will be offering later on.
-
Opera 99% of the time, and Firefox when Opera doesn't display a page correctly. Mostly because Opera is faster and more secure than Firefox (http://mywebpages.comcast.net/SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html).
im agree with you,
common problem with firefox is always not responding when opening page with full of picture,
but if im using opera its no problem
-
Switched back to the sexiness that's FF, I was getting tired of Flock's loading time..
-
Started using Opera yesterday. It took a bit to configure, and lacks some delicious extensions, but I'm enjoying the speed + low loading times (2 seconds, down from 20+ for Firefox, and I have a nice computer //(-_-)).
-
I've used IE since forever, but I just installed Firefox 3 and I can't imagine my life without it anymore. So much better then IE XD
-
^ cough don't forget to apply the latest security patches for FF, they had like 3? in the last month.
Am looking into chrome also at the moment, very fast, way better use of WebKit then Safari.
But the main browser browser for now stays IE (yes also just patch in hte last few days) freaking programmers should learn to program first
-
I am using Chrome it is clean and simple to use. I used to use Firefox but it keeps crashing on me and takes ages to start up.
-
^ cough don't forget to apply the latest security patches for FF, they had like 3? in the last month.
Thanks for the tip. Ehm.. I'm quite the computer noob.. where can I get these patches?
-
I use Firefox. I used to use Internet Explorer, but then I got really sick of it... a lot of errors. I definitely prefer Firefox. :)
-

Under the help is a 'check for updates'
If you downloaded from the mozilla site you should have the latest already, but as I said they seem to have a spree of bad programming currently so keep an eye on it.
-
Ok, excellent. Thanks :)
-
Back to Firefox now. Chrome had a nasty habit of hitting 100% bandwidth usage and disconnecting Skype and MSN.
-
I was trying out this browser called 'Sleipnir' for a while, but it doesn't cooperate well with LJ, so I removed it.
-

ohhh bad chrome... i ♥ firefox
btw i'm using explorer because i'm using internet from a remote location (i mean a town in the middle of the nothing) and it sucks... no wonder i never use it.
-
I use Firefox. I used internet explorer for years and years but I like Firefox more now.

firefox yo!

At the Pwn2Own competition that just finished up recently, people competed to break in and exploit various browsers across all operating systems. Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Mac's Safari all fell. Chrome didn't.
Browser security: Pwn2Own topples all but Chrome (http://features.csmonitor.com/innovation/2009/03/24/browser-security-pwn2own-topples-all-but-chrome/)
Questions for Pwn2Own hacker Charlie Miller (http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=2941)
Pwn2Own hacker Charlie Miller concerning Macs and Safari:
"It’s really simple. Safari on the Mac is easier to exploit. The things that Windows do to make it harder (for an exploit to work), Macs don’t do. Hacking into Macs is so much easier. You don’t have to jump through hoops and deal with all the anti-exploit mitigations you’d find in Windows.
It’s more about the operating system than the (target) program. Firefox on Mac is pretty easy too. The underlying OS doesn’t have anti-exploit stuff built into it."
Pwn2Own hacker Charlie Miller concerning Chrome:
"There are bugs in Chrome, but they’re very hard to exploit. I have a Chrome vulnerability right now but I don’t know how to exploit it. It’s really hard. They’ve got that sandbox model that’s hard to get out of. With Chrome, it’s a combination of things — you can’t execute on the heap, the OS protections in Windows and the Sandbox."
-
Cool. I'm using Chrome now on my netbook - just because it makes the most efficient use of screen real estate.
-
FireFox .... but it crash when its ram usage went around 1.5GB .... (note: FireFox is 32 Bit ... so it can't use more RAM..)
it also crash when I use it for a long time ...... wtf
my PC is 64Bit and has 12 GB .... *banghead*
so I use IE8 simultaneously ..........
-
I switched directly over from Netscape to Firefox probably close to 4 years ago and through a combination of no major problems and laziness, I've never really tried anything else since.
I have tried Minefield a couple times but I think thats just bleeding edge builds of Firefox.
-
Firefox. Default search bar uses Google so I don't have to go to the actual site. Oh and tabs. IE's tab system seems kinda clumsy to me. Next is Safari but only when I'm on macs.
-
I think firefox is the best but I like IE more than it.
-
I like Opera's new blocking feature. You can block Flash ads now, which you still can't seem to do with FF. I still use Firefox though.
-

You can download an add-on for firefox that blocks flash. Otherwise you can just disable plugins in the options but that disables other things (QT and java) and you can't use youtube. The Flash blockers I have seen allow you to selectively enable flash.
-
Chrome 2.0 has fixed every complaint I had about it... you can go full screen.... and you can remove thumbnails from the new tab page. yet I still use Firefox XD lol...
anyone tried Safari 4? the screenshot looks interesting
-
I use Opera but have to use IE for facebook apps as some of them don't work properly with Opera.
Recently I upgraded IE6 to IE7, then IE8. Both IE7 & IE8 are totally useless so I downgraded back to IE6.
Both IE7 & IE8 have the annoying habit of forcing the window to the front when the page loads. Facebook is so slow that I always have other stuff open in Opera, and facebook in IE. I'll click a link in facebook then bring Opera up and continue doing stuff there, going back to facebook in a while when the page/app has loaded. With IE7/8 this was impossible - I'd click the link in facebook then go to Opera and immediately IE would force itself to the front, then it'd freeze for several seconds because facebook uses too much flash or java or something and uses 100% cpu (the freezing isn't nearly as bad with IE6). IE7/8 kept forcing itself to the front when I was trying to do other stuff in Opera, it was making a mockery out of multitasking so I downgraded back to IE6.
In short, if you have IE6 don't upgrade because IE7&8 is shit.

Thats weird. I've never heard of a website that "steals focus" on one browser but not on another browser. Isn't that kind of behavior easily programed into javascript or something and will end up working on virtually any recent browser?
Honestly, it seems that IE6 days are numbered. I've seen websites here and there, that are dropping support for IE 6. Granted these websites tend to be visited mainly by the tech savvy "cool kids" who are probably using the latest version of x browser. Even microsoft is pushing holdouts to upgrade.

I'm still loyal to Firefox but I've been playing around with others lately, and damn, I wish Mozilla would do some MAJOR work to speed Firefox up. It works great but compared to others, namely the webkit-based browsers like Safari and Chrome, it is DOG SLOW.

Cool javascript based hacks (no flash involved). My favorite is Starfield. Should work with recent versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (possibly Opera).

Opera is my fave. but for browsing i prefer to use Firefox.
I use Opera for torrent and saving pages into MHT format, i like my saved pages gather in 1 files.
Opera is good enough actually, what disappointing is that it doesn't support with hotmail and some website :(
another thing what i like about opera is when i download something, opera shows where the address file is,
so i can copy that address into my download accelerator.
-

You can do that on FF too. For some sites, I think. You just click the download link, go to the FF download progress window and check the properties of the file being downloaded, then it'll show you the address.

I'm using FF 3.5
w/ extensions: Adblock Plus
All-in-One Sidebar
Chatzilla
Google Toolbar for Firefox - not active
IE Tab
PDF Download
Personas

Apparantly I voted on here way back when I was using IE; I've since migrated to Firefox though because I'm a fag and wanted a delicious skin for my browser.
-
Firefox. I hate IE
-
Firefox. Can't live w/o the addons. The memory leak thing sucks big time though.
-
Firefox all the way, its the fastest browser ive ever used.
-
Firefox for the win, so many addons to make your browser awesomeness and make the internet bend to your iron will. i loves it
-
We need some more Opera loving up in here.
Submit to the superior browser
-
Google finally released a beta version of Chrome for mac after about 15 months . Complete disappointment first there was not apparent way for me to block flash, either through disabling plugins or a built-in flash blocker (Camino is the only browser that has a flash blocker out-of-the-box!!). Any browser that gives me no means to block flash is dead to me. Google chrome also stealth installs an auto-updater (the kind that does not tell you they are updating the app) process at launch, which a big no-no for
control freaks mac users such as myself. That and the whole google watches you thing. Not that it really matters between google analytics (most websites I go to seem to use it) and their search service I find it pretty hard to stay away from their sights.
BTW anybody who talks about memory leaks or excessive memory usage clearly has not talked to a mac user about Safari. :)
-
Chrome is my default one now because it hardly crashes, compared to my FF especially. And if something that's a part of Chrome crashes (like Flash), you don't have to shut down your entire browser.
-
FF is absolutely fabulous given the extensions available, but in terms of speed and robustness, I gotta give the :thumbup to Chrome. It may be simple, but it's bloody quick and reliable. I can't say the same for FF now (even though by default I use FF 4 out of 5 times), especially with the shitload of extensions that I can't help but install :banghead:
-
I use 2 browsers. Google Chrome for regular use of the web... like checking mails, jphip.com and other stuff. And I use Internet Explorer (Yes I use it) for when I'm gonna surf the web knowing I will encounter ''dangerous'' websites. My IE has this program called Forcefield wich is like a shield for my browser. So much safer ^^ Also I use IE for things that won't work on Chrome.
-
I use FireFox, IE, and Chrome
-
I use firefox. It's the fastest browser I've ever used, and more secure than internet explorer. Everyone I know uses it now becasue of me.
-
Chrome's a really nice browser, but I'm too attached to my extensions (esp. Rikaichan) to move away from Firefox just yet.
-
Actually Chrome supports extensions now, including Rikaichan (which I love as well). I've been loyal to Firefox for almost six years now (was loyal to IE for six years prior) but now considering switching to Chrome since I hear it's faster and less of a memory hog.

Firefox. :)
-
I've always been a Firefox user ever since I knew about Firefox.
The only add-on I use is Tiny Menu with Full-Flat theme. IMO it's the simplest and most space-saving.
-
opera, IE
-
Firefox is the main browser.
Chrome & IE ony when I visit some website that does not support firefox.
-
My main Browser is Firefox, but I want to use Opera now, but I wont use it as long as I cant add RSS Feeds to the Bookmarks :smhid

You're missing out, man, I'm telling you.
Opera 4 LIFE :cokecat:
-
FF is also fine with all the Add-ons like rikaichan http://www.polarcloud.com/rikaichan/ (http://www.polarcloud.com/rikaichan/)
Isnt there any way to add the RSS Feeds to my Favorite Bookmarks :?
-
Firefox is still my main browser - hovering over switching to Chrome or Opera....
-
1. Firefox
2. Opera
3. Google Chrome
go away IE
-
I just went from 10.10 to 10.60a Opera. The interface finally does not lag. :hump:
-
Safari~~! though I have to use Firefox for my internet banking. My bank's crazy security applet thingie always fails to load in Safari T_T; *sigh*
-
Been using IE until switching to FireFox for around a year. Been good so far.
-
firefox, but its nice and bloated now
-
Firefox is the best, but some website can't work with firefox. Then I will use IE or opera to open the website.
-
Used Firefox for some time, but it kept giving me troubles (freezing/crashing) and my sister told me that had been happening with her laptop as well (so it's not just my machine or a bug on it or something). Switched to Chrome and while it occasionally has issues (for a while it did NOT like shockwave) it's been working fine.
-
The Opera 10.60 beta has much better support, HTML5 video notably being useable now.
http://www.opera.com/browser/next/ (http://www.opera.com/browser/next/)
-
Firefox user here because of the addons i frequently use
I watched a demo of IE9 and it was promising because of the gpu acceleration
well i have hopes for firefox that they'll do better..as always
-
Opera released the final version of 10.60 several days ago, and it is fantastic :yep:
-
Ever since I downloaded Chrome, I got totally hooked to it. The user-interface is wonderful. Well I also periodically use Firefox and almost never, the Internet Explorer.
-
Opera 10.63 is available

Firefox is my main browser but I use Chrome, Safari and IE. I'm studying web development so I have to make sure that everything works in all of them^^
-
i used to use firefox, but now i have chrome.
but i still use ff when i have to be multi-logged in on some websites. lol
-
Been using Chrome and loving it, but it seems to be slow recently.
-
I'm using Opera, now for about 2 years, before was IE 6/7/8 ...
Why? Well 8)
> Bookmarks and DL manager gets the job done
> Tabbed browsing is very fast and has previews
> Speed dial is awesome!! (and very functional)
> Address bar seems to be magic :shocked (very VERY functional)
typing "g opera" will search for opera in google.com
typing "yt KARA" will search for KARA on youtube.com
typing "gtk 카라" will translate 카라 to Kara on google translator
> Panels are very handy: Notes, DL's, History, Windows, Bookmarks, etc; all that in a very tiny space and one-click away
> Plug-in loading on demand: flash objects don't load until you click on them, including videos and ads, separately!!
> Mouse gestures!! (those are the sh**t!)
Opera also has RSS feeder, "search as you type" in almos every box where you can type on, can download torrents, a very good Memory Management
(normally I have 30 to 40 tabs opened, with 20+ of them loaded with pages with videos, images, sounds, etc... using 400~500 MB RAM), skins, anti-phising
and many other anti-malware stuff, customizable UI(you can move/hide tool bars), e-mail, IM and IRC client; and so many things that I can't remember lol
I know Chrome, Firefox and Safari are very good browsers, but Opera has almost any function you want!!
PS: I'm kinda like a fanboy of Opera, but we have to admit that Opera is a very good browser, full of features with low system requirements
-
Is it just me or does Opera not load pictures properly?
I've noticed that when I open a site, any pictures on it come out kind of pixely or grainy. But when I go to the same time on Chrome/FF, it's fine.

Which version are you using? For me, Opera is able to open not one, several (10, 15) 5k by 5k pics. I'm using 10.61
-
I started using Safari today, because I grew weary of Opera's inability to completely function with all of Google's sites, among other things. Safari lacks a lot of functional I'd, and I may wind up using Chrome, if I can find some extensions to fix glaring flaws. :cokecat:
-
Chrome.
-
Firefox. Can't be bothered to learn how to use anything else.
-
Indirectly related to the thread topic...there are still people using Internet Explorer 6?????

Kind of funny watching MS try to kill off its own product.

I'm glad I've held off on changing my vote for the time being.
I switched to Chrome last week, having grown tired of Firefox's memory usage problems, but was reminded quickly why I stopped using Chrome the first time around last year (Asian font rendering, live bookmarks, Rikaichan's name dictionary, Twitter add-ons). This time, however, I made the necessary modifications, both with add-ons and my own habits, to make for a more comfortable changeover and made up my mind to stick with Chrome.
But then here comes Firefox 4 all of a sudden with a new Chrome-like interface and the promise of better memory usage...and now I don't know which one to stick with! :panic: I'd like to get back to proper fonts and the name dictionary via the new Firefox, but I've already settled myself with ChromedBird and RSS Live Links (plus this forum tends to make my CPU activity go crazy whenever I want to post a reply in FF). I guess I'll be alternating based on my mood now? XD
-
I'm a chrome person myself..
-
I used to use IE, but switched to Chrome. But Chrome :banghead: kept being a but(crashed soo much, and still does) i switched to firefox and has been very satisfied. :)
-
I been going Opera for a while till it stopped opening, wth lol but then got hit with malware a reformat am back. I missed the tab stacking... but it crashes more often so whatevs
Opera Face Gestures (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkNxbyp6thM#ws)
but gonna go Google Chrome too cuz I wanna do some Google stuff with it, Earth, Docs. And i like the insta-translating. And the FB games run faster XD
-
I use Firefox. I was using Safari at first when I got my new computer, but grew annoyed at the way you're supposed to open new tabs and switched to Firefox :P.
-
opera user here.
originally a firefox user but switched for no reason other than to try it, and now i have no intention of switching back.
use it to check mail, because i hve a tendancy to be OCD with checking my mail xD.
not by any means a power user of it, but apparently lots i still need to learn about it :P
-
Firefox 4 with permanent private browsing on.
Extensions: NoScript, Adblock Plus, LastPass, BetterPrivacy, Force-TLS, Redirect Remover
(http://i.imgur.com/Sf5MY.jpg)
-
Firefox, I had less virus issues and downloading seemed to work better.
-
I use both Firefox and Chrome
-
Google Chrome :thumbup
-
vote for Firefox :thumbup
-
Mozilla Firefox :thumbup
-
BACK TO OPERA, AWWW YEAH.
Latest version works dandy with every site I've seen, including Gmail, Google Maps, and more. I don't suffer the UI lag from Firefox anymore, or Chrome's overwhelming feeling of being half-baked.
-
depends on what I'm doing, but I can't seem to go wrong with chrome.
-
Chrome faster!!
-
I use Chrome, but it crashes a lot, so i might go back with Firefox :D
-
Still Firefox
-
now i'm changing from firefox to opera. my usual way of browsing - hold many open pages, but after hibernate firefox starts freezing system. meybe i'd like chrome, but it create separate process for every page, i cannote let it generate about 40 threads, it shuts the system down. so i chose opera for ordinary surfing.
-
Can't use anything else after switching to chrome... the interface feels so slick and tidy. My firefox used to be loaded up with way too many extensions >.< chrome makes me feel like I don't need any :D
-
I use Firefox FTW, most customized browser ever. But really, they should start keeping the memory usage as low as possible, and they should start doing something for add-on site, it is easier to find variety of extension on chrome than firefox. Still don't like the fast pace upgrade.
I still use Chrome, for the PORN MODE(ctrl + shift + n). Chrome is fast, a little faster from firefox with little lower memory usage(they separate the process per tab, which seems like lower memory usage than firefox), no hassle.
-
Yeah, my vote's been officially changed for a while now, as I've been sticking with Chrome for the past several months. I managed to adjust myself with certain quirks and the right extensions, and all that along with the pure speed is making it hard to go back to Firefox even with the revamp. Though the way fonts look in FF now are kinda interesting (plus Rikaichan is still better than Rikaikun).
-
I use Chrome for everything but a few sites, for those I use Firefox.
-
I strongly believe multi-browser setup is the way to go which is why I run with firefox & safari myself.
Surprised to see people still use IE :P
-
Firefoxis always better
-
Using firefox for the most part and chrome sometimes. Chrome seems too fast. >.>; Pages end up not loading because it'll come back 'cannot find page' when you have crappy internet...
-
I use Opera for almost everything. But I still have Firefox installed, just in case I'm in need of some specific add-on.
-
What is currently the best browser for viewing Flash content? Chrome hogs too much RAM memory & Flash content stutters in Firefox
-
I use a Firefox extension called "Flash and Video Download" and run flash off my hard drive. (My bandwidth is really restricted, so I like to save a copy to avoid multiple DLs.)
-
Firefox and Chrome is on my list!!
:shakeit:
-
Does anyone else with Chrome know why sometimes when I save a picture my browser just crashes?
-
Just switched over to Waterfox - http://waterfoxproj.sourceforge.net/ (http://waterfoxproj.sourceforge.net/) - the 64-bit version of Firefox. Working great so far.

Is there a version for Mac OS? One of the required plug-ins seems to only have an .exe version download.
-
Not that I know of. It's an independent rebuild specifically for Windows.

Do you mean Silverlight? You could check this page, maybe: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx (http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx) - Not much uses it though, so you might not miss it anyway.
As of 26 August 2011, 0.3% sites are using Silverlight,[15] whereas site usage of Adobe Flash is around 27%.[16] Usage of Java on sites during the same time period is around 4%.

I've been using Firefox for years, but lately it's just been a pain to use. I think I might make a permanent switch to Chrome soon o:
-
I've been using Chrome for a long time... But, I used to use Firefox! (http://i1048.photobucket.com/albums/s376/Nakamii_Eririn/GIFs%20Decorations/o0020002011703825455.gif)

Lately Firefox has been slowing down.
Switched to chrome for the past few weeks and have been happy.
Anyone else get that?
-
opera user for now and for a long time to come
love the searchbar, other random addons, being able feed my OCD for checking my email from like 50 million different clients, and auto logins too useful IMO
-
I found that Firefox's memory leak was way too big for me to handle and would just bog my computer down. Ever since then I've been using Chrome and I've been happy with its performance.
-
I use Chorme. It quick, simple interface
-
I use firefox. Its quick, simple, and easy to use. Plus some of the add ons are very hand like the ad-blocker plus which blocks youtube ads :p. I didn't like chrome because it didn't have a home button ..maybe I just couldnt find it?
-
Been using Firefox and adblock plus since forever.
-
Is it just me, or does Mozilla Firefox hang everytime I open it?
-
Is it just me, or does Mozilla Firefox hang everytime I open it?
Depends on your computer and how old it is/what it's able to do as well as what version of FF you're trying to run. Assuming that you're trying to run the latest/most updated version of FF, if you have a good, strong, fast, efficiently-running rig then it should not be "hanging" on you. However, as is often the case, if you're running an older, slower computer, it may just not be able to handle/keep up with the resources needed to run it properly.
-
Yeah, agree with many of the posts here. Firefox seems to be eating up lots of cpu usage for some reason.
Will gradually change to chrome in the near future
-
chrome is the king
-
I use Firefox on computer and Opera on phone
-
Chrome user here
-
But Firefox is lagging sometimes hard on my computer so nowadays I use more Internet EWxplorer than Firefox
-
if u open a lot of tabs firefox is a little too slow, i prefer opera
-
primary browser is opera, have some tabs that have been open for months or years
i have firefox set as my default browser on windows (it loads faster for opening links from emails chats etc)
i also use it for studying japanese, with extensions rikachan etc.
i use chrome for browsing pixiv (too many tabs open on opera, and keep firefox clean for visitors etc.)
-
firefox all the way :twothumbs
-
i would use chrome, but firefox has alot of add-ons i like plus ive been using it forever. XD
-
Been using Chrome on my Android tablet, but I like still like Firefox better for my desktop.
-
Switched from Chrome to Firefox and back to Chrome. Couldn't stand Firefox Startup time.. Chrome feels more slick for some reason 8)2
-
just installed IE 10...doesn't seem to be any difference from IE 9...lol
EDIT- seems that web pages load a lot faster (and there's some spell check/grammar nazi thing cuz I spelled a lot without the space but it corrected it lol)
-
Chrome definitely, Tab sync with all devices and OVERALL sync
-
Chrome. I like how I can just type what I want to search in the url instead of having to go to google.com and what not. I used to have firefox but switched when google chrome first came out because of how fast it was.
-
Props to H!Pstah Tom_Green for this little gem! :cow:
For Firefox users, have you ever come across a streaming video on YouTube (or on a similar site) that you wanted to watch, only to click "play" and find out that the video has been locked to only be playable/viewable in a specific country/region?
Get the MEDIA HINT extension, and enjoy the videos like a boss! :peace:

For anyone interested http://www.tomshardware.com (http://www.tomshardware.com) ran their latest "Web Browser Grand Prix" to try and bring a little objectivity to the 'which web browser is best?' question. They benchmarked for Windows 7 and Windows 8 only so if you're using a different OS altogether then maybe you'd just like reading this article for the hell of it?
Here's the link:

Here's the tl;dr version:
chrome won.

I may just be demonstrating how old I am, but does anyone else here remember using Netscape?

Sure. Netscape Navigator was my browser of choice. I dodged IE till the very last moment, until jumping to NN's kinda-successor Firefox.
Talking about Firefox. The newest update basically destroyed all the sleek UI tweaks I made.
Using this add-on, it's nearly 90% back to what I was using. Give it a twirl if you're also troubled by it:

Yeah mine did that update earlier today. Finding that add-on has helped me retain my sanity. :yep:

Watching the stars falling down past the lighthouse was amongst my favourite forms of entertainment when I still had dial-up.

Hey everyone, it turns out that there's now a Firefox version of the "Unblock Youku" add-on that had previously only been available for Chrome! :thumbsup

The original Chrome add-on, for anyone who was curious, can still be found here:

Whenever I start up Chrome for the first time and try to put in a URL, the browser freezes (and shows the 'loading/wait icon') for like 15 seconds before I can continue typing again.
It only does whenever I start Chrome for the first time after turning on my laptop. Does anyone know what's wrong?
-
At the moment I'm running parallel Firefox and Opera 22.
I need FF, because it has a good plugin for youtube and that damn blocking of foreign music here. Plus, Opera doesn't work with some pages like loading no pictures...
On Android I have Chrome running. The free alternatives all aren't satisfying, some slow, some with bugs or just not userfriendly.
-

That used to happen to me quite often and for downloading a pic it would always freeze for the first pic. What I've been doing lately is when I log off Chrome at the end of the day is to delete the history plus someone mentioned on settings to check the Send a "Do Not Track" request with your browsing traffic box, seems doing those things have solved the problems.
-
Chrome, used to be a fan of Firefox. But since Chrome pretty much handles all my needs, I switched. I found being able to google search by just typing anything into the address bar come in handy. Although pretty sure other browsers can do the same with the right settings.
-
I want to move away from Chrome, but haven't found the perfect replacement. Used to run Firefox, and then Google created Chrome, which was definitely faster than Firefox.
Over couple of years, I had tried to go back using Firefox, but it was definitely slower than Chrome. With Chrome, I only need to restart my browser every few days, but with Firefox, I have to restart it every couple of hours before it becomes very sluggish (Note: I run them on a quite old laptop, so it might have effect).
Looking forward to the development of Firefox "Quantum" and also Brave (which is fast and blocks ad+tracking, but still doesn't support extension). Hopefully one of them can become good enough to replace Chrome.
