okay, so seriously a bunch of us have already been talking in IRC for jph!p meet up opportunity. many of us locals (me, boy, slack, fen) have pretty much already signed up for this shit, cus honestly, this is once in a lifetime. so who else is down? we should really plan this kinda shit and get organized early. need to get cheap hotel rooms (we can split for added savings), etc.

The MORNING MUSUME (モーニング娘. Morning Daughter) is a one of a kind all-girl group whose story began in 1997 when Japanese producer TSUNKU♂ held auditions for a female rock vocalist for his band SHARAN Q held on the Japanese TV show ASAYAN. With the five runner-ups from the contest, Tsunku decided to create an all-girl group that sold 50,000 copies of their indies CD single “Ai no Tane” and debuted as MORNING MUSUME. They are the lead group of Hello! Project.
MORNING MUSUME’s first single “Morning Coffee” made a huge splash by hitting the #6 position in the Japanese pop charts within its first week of release. In August of 1998, MORNING MUSUME reached the #1 spot in the Japanese pop charts with their 3rd single “HOLD ON ME”. In 1999, the group had their first nationwide tour with 19 performances in 7 cities for 40,000 fans.
In September of 1999, MORNING MUSUME released their smash hit “Love Machine” that sold 2 million copies and held the first place spot in the Japanese pop charts and stayed 17 weeks on the Oricon Karaoke Chart.
MORNING MUSUME is famous not just for being the Japan’s top female group, but also for its unique approach with the shuffling of members. Producer TSUNKU♂ creates freshness by graduating band members and adding new members to create different units and adds fresh new faces for fans old and new.
In 2007, MORNING MUSUME made a historic impact within the Japanese music industry as the band welcomed new members Jun Jun and Lin Lin from China and began to reach an international audience. In 2008, MORNING MUSUME celebrated their 10th anniversary. MORNING MUSUME is definitely the world’s most famous and successful Japanese all-girl group.
MORNING MUSUME consists of band members Ai Takahashi, Risa Niigaki, Eri Kamei, Sayumi Michishige, Reina Tanaka, Koharu Kusumi, Aika Mitsui, JunJun, and LinLin.

Yeah, the reg system doesn't seem to be up right now, so keep checking back, I guess.
For the "reserved" tickets, it just means you are guaranteed decent seating. You won't actually have an assigned seat until you go pick up the ticket at con. This is where the first come first served thing comes in. This is what they were doing two years ago though, can anyone confirm if it's still the same?

I'm not sure how to phrase it as a question right, but I am curious about this recent change in venue.
Up to now H!P has been a japan only franchise. Other japanese groups have toured all over the world, but H!P has been almost exclusivly in japan. Even their Hawaiian tour is for japanese fan club.
Between Hangy and Angry and now MM, why the sudden interest in coming to the US?

AX Ticketing manager here. I'm talking with our Marketing team to see if we can arrange something for you guys at H!O, like setting up a section of the seats for you all to sit together. Nothing official yet, but I'll keep you guys updated.
So what I've noticed, is the someone from H!O has been talking to the ticketing manager, and the ticketing manager is "seeing" what he can do for them, trying to arrange a way they can all sit together..like sectioning off seats for them.... If he'd be able to do that for them, I don't see why he shouldn't be able to do that for other people...
I live literally near the convention center, so I guess it's pretty positive I'll be there.
This means I have to listen to the newest songs again. Naturally when Ive gotten out of H!P this happens. BUT, since I'll be home from Sweden by then, I intend to try my hardest to get there~!

on a different note, in irc we've been discussing what kind of gift(s) we should give to the girls at the panel/autograph session. Me and Fenrir think the best idea would be a hueg JPH!P gift basket full of candy, stuffed animals, a small journal/booklet with stuff, short letters, commemts written to the members from us, jph!p shirts.....and possibly our cellphone numbers. as for the stuffed animals, one per girl would be the best. a turtle for eri, a cat for reina, a bunny for sayu, a monkey for ai-chan, etc.
thoughts on what to give the other girls for stuffed animals, candy, other items?
well I know some others are making up some t-shirts, but I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in.
I'll probly working on other designs as time goes by. But maybe we can all put our ideas together somehow and have show our unity at the event.
I found this place by doing a search on groups via google on whose going to the concert. I'm game if you guys don't mind a new JPH!P member coming along. The more the merrier right? O0
I checked out other HP sites, like H!O, JPM, BBS... The other places seem to have a legitimate amount of uptight and annoying members, this place suits me better. The vibe I get from JPH!P is pretty laid back. Exactly the type of fans I'm looking for to chill with during this epic event.
I'm living in Hawaii at the moment, but I'm a Californian native (born in San Diego). I'll be back in SD late June.

Call me an idiot, call me whatever you want, but, I had no idea there were more communities out there than H!O, that is why when Bryan said what he said, I did not say something along the lines of "what about other forums". That is my failure to you and your community.
Let it be known though, I did not go out searching for this, I was not even expecting this, and I don't think anything will come of this. Bryan said something, and it was passed on from there.
Also, it was posted previously that someone thought we were getting something free. That is not the case, Bryan told me we would have to buy our tickets still. There was never an offer for free concert tickets.
As for the not letting new members in thing, yeah, that IS the case. We decided that people who created just to get special seating (Who knows what that even means? I am under the impression bryan was just trying to get a section where members of our community could sit together, I am not under the impression he was trying to get us better seats than anyone else, they may not even be good seats, who knows?), and were not an actual part of the community should not be involved. No matter what, this would be a limited supply thing, and my intent by making it so people who just created cant get on that list was just to keep the list from getting too big. I don't believe in taking advantage of someone's kindness that much, it's not right. As far as I am concerned, I will be waiting in line just like everyone else, probably. I have every intention of getting the best seat I can get and paying for it.
All that said, I would like to invite the members of jph!p to an after party after the concert. I will be organizing it, it is open to all H!P fans, that's what the members of H!O decided, there would be no charge, and we would not stop anyone from entering.

I am NOT trying to give H!O special treatment, they were just the first group that I was aware of when looking through this thread. All I'm currently trying to set up is a "group buy" system so that fans from various fanclubs can be seated together. On top of that, they'll be getting their tickets from the "Reserved Seating" section, so individual fans not part of a fanclub can still get good seats.
As of this post I have NOT offered H!O anything, and once the logistics are worked out, I'll be making an official announcement of some kind. There's no way I or AX staff would want to give special consideration to some fans but not to others.
All that said, I would like to invite the members of jph!p to an after party after the concert. I will be organizing it, it is open to all H!P fans, that's what the members of H!O decided, there would be no charge, and we would not stop anyone from entering.

I apologize once more, at first I said the party was being run by H!O and H!O members decided we wanted everyone but the fact is. Iceymoon (who is spearheading this, I am just helping her with it) Posted simultaneously on jpm and H!O, so this party truly is outside of forum constraints, hehe. I have school in July, and it's not like I can just tell my parents I need to suddenly go to LA...
LOL, okay. Change in plans. I'm booking the hotel that's closest to the con site, pretty much right down the street. I checked the O Hotel site (http://www.ohotelgroup.com/ (http://www.ohotelgroup.com/)) and for a discounted price you can just do full payment in advanced. Not like I'm gonna cancel so I don't mind. Rate's at $106 and totals at $363, but at least it being close and good quality makes up for it.
I'm trying to work out a way to go...permission is not a problem since at the ripe old age of 21 by the time AX rolls around, I am a legal adult anywhere in the world. XD The only real problem is financial, obviously, but I'll figure something out. No way I'm missing seeing MM again after my crazy Taiwan trip. XD I wonder if Junjun remembers me as the crazy fan perched on top of a signboard...XD;

it seems, AX is not going to be using the Nokia theater for the show, that the cost has become to much to use that venue.
They are now discussing using two of the Hall at LACC to do the concert, which are NOT equipped for concerts, it makes us sit in fold out chair and has a stage rigged up possibly poorly.
I suggest those who don't want to have a bad concert experience head over to AX's forums and let them know they need to find a proper concert venue close to the convention.
cause it's making me rethink my decision to go.
Tho I know I would go if they we're playing in a barn in Kentucky.
ok going back and looking at LACC's layout in halls A and B they have a theater with a 17,000 person capacity.
so maybe they will use that.

Anyways, not really familiar with the metro LA Japanese/Asian spots besides a couple, but you can go to Mitsuwa in Little Tokyo, it's a fairly large Japanese market with a bookstore and a food court. Never been to that one, but I hear they have a pretty good ramen place. My friend works there :lol:
As for my hotel I'm thinking about the Orchid Hotel as well. The list of hotels that rev2hd put up are pretty darn expensive.Found a room with 1 bed for about $91 a night.FRICK that room is gone. Next best that doesn't require full payment up front is $621 total for 5 days. Maybe I might meet up with rev2hd cause of same hotel.
Actually, that's the exact same situation as me. Ever since I got into H!P, I was like, "Screw anime." but when this was announced, I completely reversed and practically tackled the AX site... Officially, this'll be my 4th year. I doubt I'll go again after this, unless H!P becomes involved again, somehow.
Driving/being driven up each day to L.A. Ouch on the gas costs... (I think. *doesn't keep up with the economy/gas prices and just knows that it fails*) Then again, it's only about an hour...
Nice to know I'm not alone haha. While walking around the first day last year, my friends found a 4 day badge on the ground and I used it for the rest of the con xD So I might even just go the one day that they're going to do their thing and just borrow a friend's badge for the panel or whatever. It depends though.

Yeah, nothing is actually set in stone yet, unfortunately. The staffers over at the AX forum all say that the dates and times are not official or set in stone until they make an official announcement or the official schedule comes up.

Another at the O, nice! That's where me and rena are staying. Looking at the AX forums, it seems a lot of con goers will be staying at this hotel. The location is GREAT. Only drawback is the rooms are a bit small and only have one bed, but if you can live with that, it's a great spot.

Okay, for some reason I've been finding myself increasingly preoccupied with this trip and whether or not I should go. I've probably got sufficient fundage for it (unexpected events notwithstanding), so now I've just got to get myself caught up and find out what the 411 is.If Mugen staying with daigong, that means there could be space in my room with cool_kickin_dude. My room only has two twin beds. If you don't mind the floor or working out some kind of bed switching arrangement, you're welcome to room with us. I'll be arriving on the 2nd and leaving the 6th. With the room being about US$80/night, the three of of us would each pay about US$110 for the whole hotel fee.
Cost-wise, it wouldn't surprise me if I've screwed myself a bit by not committing as early. Just out of curiousity, is there anyone out there who still needs a hotel roomie?

I need roomies ~I asked them the bed type and they said Economy room has twin beds.
I'm planning to book a room (around $113 per night) @ mayfair from July 1- July 5 (4 nights)
but the bed type is not confirmed, so you may need to sleep on the floor lol (Economy room-shower only -bed type not confirmed-)

well I am highly offended by odor, and will not be able to hold my tongue if some smelly fucker is all up in my space, which is why I shall be packing some axe, and tag, and some other random odor sprays. Maybe I should keep a bottle of fabreeze? I know many are socially awkward but that's no excuse to not bathe, or wash your clothes. I don't want to go home smelling of the unwashed masses. Heaven forbid some one but in on me and my friends, were like rabid pit bulls, we might eat the person alive, we're normally nice to strangers, but if it gets creepy we tend to get nasty.
I will be honest, I cuss A LOT. In fact I don't think I have ever had a convo, where the word fuck has not popped out of my mouth, so if anyone is,can, or will be offended by me, I am sorry.
But I am fun, and can be funny as hell, and I tend to dork out on a whim, so I am just preparing anyone who wants to chill with me at AX.

Unfortunately, when I went two years ago, there was a severe shortage of hot/cute cosplayers, and about 80% were either Naruto or Bleach characters. At least there were a few really interesting ones, and you might get to see the famed Man-Faye. (or is that a minus?)

Ive looked in the AX forum, but their answer was a bit confusing.
e shut off for all Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation - Anime Expo® block hotels is on June 17, 2009 at 3:00pm PDT (6:00pm EDT). As of June 18, 2009, all hotels will be CLOSED in the Experient reservation system.
All inquires for new reservations, changes and cancellations to reservations for the Anime Expo® received by the Experient Customer Service department will be directed to the Anime Expo® block hotels starting June 18, 2009.
We'll post updates when we receive them.

I wouldn't recommend it. Something like this happened at an anime convention I was at a few years ago, with Psycho le Cemu, and afterwards there was some really strict rules put in place during the handshake/photo op event they had the next day at the con.

We eventually found an end, only for some moron to tell us we were in the wrong spot, then a JapanFiles person came around and put us right back where we were, while an AX staffer put other people into another branch of the line.

I forgot to mention, that lady who was translating for MM most of the time was not a professional interpreter. You can tell by the way she translated things, and made her own stupid comments about what was being said. She seemed more like their manager or PR person, and was super annoying. I could tell during the panel, the real interpreter was probably getting annoyed at her too. She didn't understand many of the questions during the Q&A panel, with many of them being answered incorrectly. She also failed to translate many things that were said and kept butting in. Totally unprofessional and seemed like an attention whore. We didn't need her as an MC, and even more as an interpreter.

Soo like.. I'm pretty new here, and I just discovered this place thanks to the fellas selling shirts/glowsticks during the seating of the concert. Anyways! It's nice reading other peoples' experiences, I feel really bad for people that weren't able to get autographs. I also had difficulty trying to find the first autograph session like most people, but was able to find the place eventually and get an autograph. When I was getting my picture signed, I was completely star-struck.. so I wasn't able to say anything except "hello" and "thanks" [I'm also really shy, so yeah..] Also, I was only able to attend Thursday and Friday, but luckily was able to make a lot of great memories from it:
The concert was amazing also. Honestly.. I felt bad because I haven't been listening/watching much Morning Musume stuff lately [thanks to Korean idols], so I wasn't caught up with the songs performed in the concert. I did try my best to cheer with the crowd; I swear I was going to lose my voice the following day. Man-oh-man.. the next time MM comes to the states, I'm going to try my best to attend [maybe even meet you cool people of JPH!P] and get a rematch w/ Reina!

Well, that and the awesome night the hip crew had in Little Tokyo Saturday. Livin' it up like the Japanese in the izakaya, and then karaoke afterward! Though you guys made me a little self-conscious with all the rokun chatting. :oops: I hope it didn't feel like I was monopolizing the karaoke... (along with ComFen... haha) I guess since we've done ridiculous karaoke before, it just felt natural for us, eh? Most of you guys probably don't know me very well, but I did have a good talk with JFC about it upon returning to our room. Karaoke is just like my thing... I love to sing... And something I'm realizing lately, I love to entertain... I hope you guys really did enjoy it there as much as it sounded like you did.
Day 3: Saw Dai at the JPop House booth. Then found ten, Ping (I think...) and some others dudes later. They showed me the scrapbook and it was damn beautiful!!! :twothumbs Great job, guys. :P I mentioned that I didn't have an autograph ticket and they ran me over to Aarita, who hooked a little sister up!!!! :w00t: (Thank you so much, you guys!!!!) So I was able to get my autographs after all!
That's when I heard a familier voice coming from my right. No, it couldn't be! I looked up and I saw the pinoy powerhouse himself, Mr. kuno_thunder! I was all "HOLY SHIT MAN, NO WAY!" The bastard decided to drop in on us unannounced. It was a great surprise that made me forget about being shut down at the autograph session.- we had quite a few ideas on just how we'd bring him out and "punk" everyone. In the end we just tried to get as many HiPstaz in the same general area and just had him casually walk up to the group. :P
And MEOW YOU ASS! I GAVE AWAY YOUR BEAVER TO REINA! :lol:This is so much more funny if you were part of the JPH!P party that went to Honda-ya izakaya on Saturday. XD

2. Her name is Yaz ****.
3. She works for a 3rd party company that handles Japanese acts in the states. Tenkei also knows her because she also seems to handle Ore Ska Band, and he's seen her at other Japanese acts, like Puffy. In this case, she is working with UFA to handle Morning Musume., Hangry & Angry, and Tsunku, and she will most likely handle other related acts in the future.

If I remember correctly, the old guy said that his editor/supervisor didn't think that anything AX-related was worth writing an article for, but that he was going to try and do one up anyway and hope that it would be impressive enough to get published (like you said, might have been a really slow news day for him :P). Oddly enough, I don't remember seeing that old guy after that. He had "affiliated" himself with H!O, I think, so maybe he was with some of their peeps.

We skipped the Q&A Panel Autograph tickets because we had our tickets for this event already...and we kind of regret it in a way.

When these things aren't particularly polished in the first place the translations come out even worse. Had they been better scripted they would be considered praiseworthy.I completely agree. It's a case of something being translated just well enough to get someone in trouble, but not well enough to serve its intended purpose. Still, at least they tried to speak some English.

Anime Expo would do well to take measures to create contingency plans for unanticipated lines that all staffers are briefed on. Without this kind of thing, attendees are likely to blame the staff for problems instead of blaming the lack of an overarching plan. There is actually a lot of study that goes into line formation that makes the lines like those at Disneyland work. For the most part, it seems like those lessons are lost on the AX organizers and they would do well to study up or hire someone who knows.

For the most part, it seems like those lessons are lost on the AX organizers and they would do well to study up or hire someone who knows.
I wholeheartedly agree with this. They can all use some experience working with Disneyland lines. I could see outside of my panel rooms where the line could be, but for whatever reason, the upper heads didn't see anything like that. Sigh...

Apparently on all the forums and their own website, JapanFiles wrote out that there were 300 tickets, but when the contract/deal was made to UFA, UFA thought it to be only 200 tickets.

WOW Koharu concert too :DRight at the end of the concert - just before they went to following Morning Musume walking out backstage - they panned along the row I was in and stopped and me and some of the guys I was in for about 4 secs. I'm decked out in a Risa green t-shirt and have green glowsticks with my arms open doing actions similar to someone helping an aircraft land lol. I'm shouting out "Risa" because just before that she blew a kiss to zorrander and myself as she was walking off the stage (you can see that in the FC DVD) :heart:
