Would anyone be willing to translate this?
http://csx.jp/~chinkoondo/flash/chinko_anesan.swf (http://csx.jp/~chinkoondo/flash/chinko_anesan.swf)
:dunno:
-
I'm not gonna translate, but it's about penises.
-
It's nowhere near as catchy as this..

(a mix between "Guns N' Roses" and "Mr.Hankey")

Does anyone know what this says?
I'm getting the message on niconico, a Japanese youtube site.
Every so often it won't let me watch a video and instead I get that message.
-
^ Basically, it just says "Thank you for accessing the page, but the contents has been removed by the user.. Please try again later"
-
Ah ok, thanks! So maybe like on youtube when a video gets removed but it still comes up in a search for a while.
-
Just check the thumbnail next time.
I don't have any screenshots, but you'll notice next time.
-
I was gonna go back and check the thumbnail but it won't come up in a search any more.
-
I think maybe they're starting to crack down on copyright videos?
cause a lot of videos are either gone or show up like that.
-
Is someone able to type the kanji of these out for me (they're written downwards).
I don't need a translation, I just need the kanji so I can copy and paste.

船頭小唄
祗園小唄
裏町人生
男の純情
流行歌大(x)
Sorry, I don't recognize that last one.
-
damn beaten
made a correction with the second set and got the last one, which was interesting trying to write the strokes
祇園小唄
鑑
that first one from the second set was a bitch to find since it seems that it's only ever used with the kanji next to it, to make the name of a place... And it seems that we're not the only ones that's had trouble with it since the japanese wiki page itself says something about a common kanji error with the one ayabie posted.
-
Oh shit, good job noticing that extra stroke, SITS. Took me a minute to realize the difference.
-
Thanks! In case you're wondering what it's for, some guy on usenet is posting mp3's of a bunch of cassettes he has of old Japanese music but he has no tracklist and no idea what they are. I've managed to google up every one so far but the last cassette was giving me trouble. I had all 16 names and 11 of the song titles, the last 5 and the title of the cassette was giving me problems though.
Are you sure of that one kanji you were having problems finding? This is how they look to me...
The one Ayabie found looks correct apart from that one extra stroke at the bottom, the one StreakInTheSky posted has a different radical. Interestingly though they both seem to romanise to the same thing!
With others I had problems with, if I had half of the song title I was able to put the artist name into google and the half song name and find it easily but this one (it's a song by Mori Masako) gives me zero results when I search the name and the last 3 kanji of the song title.
-
Sits is right..
"祇園" is the correct kanji for Gion (the Geisha area of Kyoto)
:edit: While I'm sure the track title is right, I also can find it by Mori Masako.. Other artists, no probs, but not her..
-
K, gonna try my luck here. Can anyone identify the song titles in the following screencaps (both in kanji and romanji if possible, please and thank you)? They're from the 2008.06.24 episode of Wowow's CollaboLabo, with Tanimura Shinji, Ayaya, and CHAGE. The 2 caps here are the 2 duets that Tanimura and CHAGE did.
First:

Second:

Damn that was fast. Thanks SITS.

Can anyone read any of this?
It's a Japanese postcard. My dad has a collection of old postcards and this is one he has that's all in Japanese and we have no clue how old it is (late 1800's/early 1900's I guess?) or what it says. I'm not asking for a complete translation as it'd take too long and I know handwritten Japanese can be hard to read, but can anyone read the address or anything?
-
 that's way beyond me, But I can make out the first word, it's "Tokyo" :P
I also see Nakata on the top of the forth line from right, which could possibly be a name.
And then Kyoto on the top of the next line.
I'm pretty sure that's the addresses and stuff since it's a postcard.
-
^ not bad Sits!!
Asked the wife, and she could read much more than that..
From Matsui ??? in Karasuma Sanjo, Kyoto
To Omura Kazuyoshi & Nakata Kiheibei in Tokyo Nihonbashi
She couldn't read the rest of the addresses, and the damn post offices didn't stamp them properly, so the stamps are both missing the left sides which includes the year..
Best she could read was.. sent from Kyoto on the 30th of ?? on the 13th year of ????.. (if ???? was the Meiji period, then 1882) and arrived in Kyoto on the 1st of May..
Not much can be done, since the stamps aren't complete.. Sorry!!
-
Thanks!
The lower stamp seems fairly complete. Now you mentioned the dates I can see where 1st & May is on the lower stamp and on the top stamp I can see where 30th is and I assume the bit above it is the year. Is it 13 though? Instead of 十 it's shaped like a U with a line across it. It's the same on the lower stamp and to the left of it is the characters for May, there's no room for the era name. I can't see that there's any room on the stamp for the era name? I'm wondering if the era name would be on the stamp at all.
If I understand it right the stamp is laid out
??
city
month / year number
day
??
written from right to left. I can see 山 at the top of the first stamp.
I'm thinking maybe the top 2 things are the city and the prefecture?
I rotated them the right way so they're easier to see.
-
Yeah, they are written from right to left, top to bottom..
京東 / Tokyo
月五年三廿 / Month 5 Year 3 20 / May Year 23 (sorry, 廿 (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/20) is 20, not 10 as I wrote before)
日一 / 1st day
I'll save these scans and ask the history teacher at high school (he's my smoking buddy), and see what he says.. But I'm not going back to school until the 22nd though, so I'll update after then..
-

Thanks! :) No rush.
Ah I looked up 廿 and it said it was an old way of writing 20 (I only knew 二十).
23 is good, because it's only possible for it to be 1890 or 1948 and I think 1890 is the most likely.
Reading right to left I also noticed the last kanji at the bottom of both stamps is the same as the last kanji on the preprinted stamp (in red) on the postcard, and the last 2 kanji on the red stamp are the same as the first 2 written in red below the red stamp.
-
That last kanji would be the kanji for mail or letters and before it, it looks like "random" Katakana probably used to catalog them.
And the Kanji on the Red stamp that says "Japanese Post" I think might be the name of Japan's old postal service or something but the order of the Kanji is a bit confusing.
-
Romanji for the following song title please? It's from the TOSHIxNacchi CollaboLabo from last month. The song itself is a Japanese version/re-write of "The Prayer", produced by David Foster.

For anyone not familiar with the original song: ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTbztw3LmU8
*copy/paste, add the "h" to the beginning of the URL
-
I'm gonna guess it as Towa ni Tabi suru koto
-
^
-
Why TOWA? o_O
It's usually read as eien
-
Why TOWA? o_O
It's usually read as eien
Dunno, it's how it showed up in the show. Maybe it's an alternate pronunciation?
-
Both are correct. I believe "Towa" is only used in poems, songs and such.
-
Because the Japanese ppl are crazy and like to have lots and lots of different readings for the same kanji... ;)
-
wth happened to just onyomi and kunyomi... those bastards.
-
And that's the way the cookie crumbles. Have fun learning JP SitS!
-
Hi. I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place, so if any of the mods think it's in the wrong area feel free to move this where it's supposed to be. :)
Anyway, I was in the middle of filling out a contact form at Avex when I came across this bit of Japanese:
※BBS 削除希望される場合はアーティスト名を必ずご明記ください
I believe it has something to do with aspirations or something along those lines, but if anyone could give me a better translation it would be help me fill out the form properly.
Thanks much in advance.
-
Hmm, I thought there was an Official Translation Request thread, but I can't seem to find it anymore. It looks to me that it's asking you to clearly write the artist name, but I couldn't understand the first 4 kanji, so I don't know the reason why you would have to write the artist's name specifically,
There's a few more qualified people on the board than me, but maybe this could tide you over.
-
Using several different webtranslators I get something like "If you would like to be removed from the BBS, please write the artists name clearly."

Yeah, the first few kanji has me confused too. :( Thanks for helping out Ping. I guess I could wing it on that section of the form, but then I would probably end up getting myself in trouble.

Hmm... that would explain the BBS part at the beginning. I guess I don't have to fill out that box since I'm not signed up to any Avex BBS'.
Thanks much Dan
-
I don't blame you for not noticing it, but the correct thread would be this one (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=15510.0).
I'll leave it as it as for now, and merge the threads tomorrow.
Edit: Done, and stickied.

Does anyone know what this says?

I made 2 different caps in case one is clearer.
It's the name of a music show from the late 70's.

^"8 ji dayo! zen'in shûgô" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1300334/)
something like "It's 8 o'Clock! Everybody Gather"
hosted by Chosuke Ikariya (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chosuke_Ikariya), leader of The Drifters comedy group.
The Drifters also included Shimura Ken, who you might know as Bakatono-sama.
-
Thanks!
Some clips were labelled DORIFU which I realised was Drifters, some I saw that name appear on screen and had to label the file "8... ..." and yet other clips featured Shimura Ken. I never realised they were all the same show, I can make more sense of some of my video clips now.

Does this mean like Fuck You?
_,,../⌒i

I know in Chinese, this hand gesture means fuck you

^ The Katakana says "Good Job!!"..
There was a TV show (http://www.nhk.or.jp/gj/index.html) named that..

Thanks!

Just a general translation would be more than enough. I should be paying you guys for this.

I can only read some of it:
Left says: Power/Strength #1
Right says: _____ #2
Middle says: and New Hero Protect Gear #3
Can't read the rest of it...
-
That's plenty. I'm honestly surprised that you can read any of it, considering the weird script.
Much thanks, fine sir.

Not sure if this is in proper Japanese since I translated it from Korean XD, but could someone translate it again for me in English? Thank you.

Because otherwise, there's a translation up at SSF:

1.) Cut out the cardboard with a boxcutter or a pair of scissors. Keeping the blank space to a minimum gives better results.
2.) Soak the decal in water for 10-15 seconds.
3.) You should be able to slide off the decal easily if it's wet enough.
4.) Place the decal at a desired location and press it on carefully with a wet fingertip, and watch for any air bubbles before you fully remove the cardboard.

My homework for this week (8. Answer the questions) but I forgot most of it (http://dailyasiatalk.pytalhost.de/Smileys/default/mon_undecided.gif) The teacher is too fast with changing the topics.
But it would help to see the questions (+answers) translated :mon sweat:
-
Well, since I can actually help here, here's the translations for the questions:
1. Is tomorrow's weather nice?
2. Is karaoke interesting/funny?
3. Is Switzerland a big country?
4. Is Tokyo a small city?
5. Is Japanese(language) hard?
6. Is Osaka an old city?
I won't give you answers though, cause that's against my principles.
I assume you can do the part above yourself.

Its something bout Daimajin Kanon's AnimeNight. Can I know what it says about Nao Nagasawa? Google isnt clear... :smhid
http://www.cinematoday.jp/page/N0024653 (http://www.cinematoday.jp/page/N0024653)
Thanks a bunch! XD
-
It's basically about her character and her amount of skin exposure. The director even comments on her great proportions, hence why they put extra emphasis on her boobs, legs and ass. Apparently there's also a scene where a monster of some sort is supposed to bury itself in her boobs and they explain that they did it in CG, to which one of the producers joke about him wanting to do the role instead.
-
Thanks for the translate!
At the end, theres like something about sexual harrassment and alcohol?
Correct me if im wrong.
Whats it say?
深夜帯ということで若干アルコールの入った大人たちのセクハラ寸前のトークにも笑顔を絶やさない里久鳴と長澤だった。
Caption: セクハラ寸前トークも余裕?
-
The article was about some late night event so the staff had some alcohol in their system. The "sexual harassment" part is referring to the producer's comment among things, and Nagasawa reacting to it with a smile on her face shows that she didn't really seem to have any problems with it.

And the seller wrote in the description
"*I sell more items.
If you bid multiple items, I'll discount shipping cost."
But there is no discount, and a friend had the same problem a few weeks ago when he ordered 2 PBs from him and he sent the seller a mail in which he asked for the discount and seperate shipping to dont get trouble with the customs. And now, 3 Weeks later he still hasnt received his PBs (probably because they stuck at the customs) We think that the seller doesnt speak english very well (Or he doenst care :S because the one "new" CD he sold was used). And thats why I need a translation .

I got a new ISP and am now encountering an unexpected problem posting on 2ch so I need some help there~
Can someone translate (explaining what it says is enough) the following:
http://info.2ch.net/wiki/index.php?%CB%C1%B8%B1%A4%CE%BD%F1%B5%AC%C0%A9 (http://info.2ch.net/wiki/index.php?%CB%C1%B8%B1%A4%CE%BD%F1%B5%AC%C0%A9)
Last time I checked I had level 1 but I don't know how I'm supposed to level up beyond that, at leas the way I thought it should doesn't seem to be it.
Well disregard that, still don't really know how to level up I think but got around it... kind of. (reading ftw~)

なかなか会ことができないけど会った時はいろいろ話したいです
Usually [?we?] don't have a chance to see [?each other?] but when [?we?] do [?I?] want to talk about a lot of things.

BUMP. :shakeit:
So I've been getting the following message more and more often over the last couple of weeks when I try to watch videos on Youku. Can anyone translate/summarize what it says? Also, has anyone else been getting this?
There doesn't seem to be any pattern or anything, just happens at random times to random videos. Sometimes the number in the upper-right corner counts down, other times it doesn't. Sometimes refreshing the window/tab gets the video to play, other times it doesn't. Sometimes the video will play if I try it again after a period of time, while other videos just keep giving me that screen.
-
I have a T-shirt that has 名のつてる (at least that's what I think it is) written on the upper left corner. I was wondering if this means anything or it's just some random gibberish. If the Japanese characters aren't clear enough, I can try to take a picture of my shirt to get a better idea of what the text looks like.

@Teriyaki: do take a photo, I can't really figure out what it means lol

Sorry for the late reply (if anybody is still interested in an attempted translation). I put the shirt in the laundry the day after I posted the request and it wasn't washed until yesterday. Luckily I still have some time to post before I go on a one-week vacation later on today so here's the pic:

^ Just guessing here. :)
throwing it in google つてる = tsuteru
名のつてる = namae no tsuteru = put your name here
= stick your name in this spot

I guess the vague Google translation that I got wasn't too far off then (it also translated to about what you posted). I just wasn't too sure if it was that simple or not. Now that you mentioned the gym shirts with the names on them, I guess that shirt I have is probably like that.
