Starting this October, idol group SKE48 will finally have their own regular TV show on NTV after AKB48 and NMB48.

The three members Matsui Jurina, Matsui Rena, and Takayanagi Akane will serve as the main characters of “SKE48 no Magical Radio”. Moreover it’s said that the vibe of the show is going to feel like variety show disguised as a drama.

Takayanagi is going to mime the radio host of a third grade radio show of a fictional radio station in Nagoya who suddenly gets forced to co-host the show together with former child actress Matsui Jurina in order to attract more listeners. Matsui Rena is going to act as the director who loves radio more than anything else.

In addition to the three main characters, we are going to see Audrey’s Wakabayashi Masayasu acting as the writer of the radio show and actor Sato Jiro as the producer. However, the other girls of SKE48 also get to appear on the show in the roles of the assistant director, sponsors, and other characters.

The main point of the show is the fact that there will be no real script, forcing everyone in the cast to ad-lib according to the situation and their respective characters.

“SKE48 no Magical Radio” will air every Tuesday night at 1:29am. The first episode will air on October 11th at 1:59 am.

Second ep was great again. Rena's acting is unreal  XD (meaning: she's really good imo)

Akane's cat noises were the best.

Jurina ZR and forehead pimple action  XD

Next week looks like a must watch!

This show is one big excuse for them to make Renaeveryone give ridiculous monologues. XD Jurina cracking during the puppy-and-kitty section was great, and of course the entire Ashida Mana segment.

I seriously can't tell what the hell parts of this show are improv and what parts are scripted.  :lol:

This weeks ep was another great ep.  Felt kinda bad for Jurina getting scared but it did provide a good bit of drama.  Um, I also feel a bit bad for asking this but, who was the girl?  I'm guessing the one in the monster outfit was the same as the one playing the ghost girl.  I'm a bit of a SKE noob so I don't recognise some of the girls yet.

I'm really enjoying this show so far.  I actually didn't know much about Akane until watching this show and suddenly I'm finding myself becoming a huge fan of hers :D

My only dissapointment was that Jurina didn't get to dress up as anything this week.  I was kinda hopeful that would be a recurring theme.  Especially since her 'Marilyn Monroe' was so super awesome :D

The way Rena reacted to those jump scares, I wonder if she's enjoying it? Jurina sure is cute when she's scared though.

^Yeah, I don't think that Jurina could have taken any more of that :lol:

This was another great episode.  This show is seriously turning me into a huge fan of Rena and Akane (I was already a huge Jurina fan so no need for her to win me over again) :D

I was very happy to see non was in this ep.  I'd kinda figured that she might only be in one ep.  I actually thought I was imagining things at first cause when she first appeared they didn't really show her clearly.  I was thinking 'It can't be her, she's already had her turn.  But no..  I think it is her.. maybe..' XD  I wish she got more talking lines though.  She's really just a background filler in some of the shots.

And that guys 'Jesus Christ' seriously made me laugh out loud :lol:  Totally caught me by surprise with that one XD

And finally, Yay for another Jurina transformation :D  I love this show! :)

More Jurina transformations this week and next week. I wonder why they didn't do one for one ep...

Rena is an epic actress. Those monologues are so impressive.  :bow:
J and Akane are pretty lol-worthy themselves too  :thumbup

I liked how the little fart joke totally floored W Matsui  :lol: They're too pure and classy for stuff like that.

The whole fart moment was hilarious :lol:  The way the guy just rolled with it was brilliant and then seeing how the girls couldn't keep a straight face was priceless XD  I loved that moment when it seemed that Jurina had composed herself, and then she started giggling again :lol:

I also liked Akane's getup for the sleepover :lol:

And I really wish I could understand more of Rena's monologues as I'm sure there's a tonne of stuff I'm missing. 

Overall this was another great episode.

Rena's monologue was excellent this week :lol:  The whole main story was proper random though.  It felt a little bit like they weren't sure what to do at first so they just had a bit of a stand off and tried to pump a few gags in here and there.  Don't get me wrong though, I laughed quite a bit whilst watching it and I did enjoy it :)  Plus it started to really get going halfway through.  And Jurina's 'Charlie Chaplin' was pretty cool too.

I wonder though, maybe I'm just strange, but am I the only one who didn't like seeing guns (even though they were fake) being pointed at the girls.  Especially that bit near the end when the guy had Churi I was kinda thinking 'please don't hold the gun against her like that'.  Maybe thats just me being weird though :nervous

Random thoughts about the series so far.. I can sum it all by saying this: This is my favorite 48-related show since AKBINGO! began. So fresh, so original, so damn fun to watch. Love it. Even though it's downright nuts, it also does a great job of showing off Rena's impressive acting skills. The fact that she also often does a great job also makes it even more funny when she does crack up. :lol:

Seriously, this was probably the best episode so far. Akane, Rena, Jurina... they were all on fire! Great stuff throughout.

^I agree with you 100%, I really do think this was the best ep so far.  And thats even considering that I've liked all the ep's to date :)

I thought that Churi's monologue was awesome (especially with Rena's intereuption at the end :lol:).

And I didn't really understand what or who Jurina was mimicking from that book she had, but damn it still made me laugh XD  And out of curiosity, if anyone can explain what the book was about and what Jurina was doing, it'd be much appreciated :)

J was starring for a sengoku period time-slip movie that Aya Ueto, Miyazaki Aoi, etc..50+ people all refused and so they started talking to J to star.
And they were starting filming tomorrow, so the guys starting helping rehearse. :P
No idea what chara she was mimicking either though. :) The script character was probably based on Aya Ueto's character from the Azumi movies.

Loved the Japlish Churi/Johnny Depp scene steal. :lol:

What a great show. Even relatively simple plots like in this episode are still entertaining.

Rena monologue, improvisation segment with the producer in focus, Akane based story, Jurina transformation... Every character gets a chance to shine  :thumbup

Next week looks like madness again, of course, since Kumi is finally there  XD

I felt this week's monologue was a little weak in comparison to last week's, but the improv definitely made up for it :lol: OnimaruP is freakin' hilarious XD

Definitely surprised at how good Kinchan's enunciation was, considering how it was on SKE ANN-R :nervous + heavy Yannu vibes too.

Also angry Kanon is awesome. :lol:

I can't get enough of this show.  It's just supremely awesome!  I laughed so hard at the scare moment (though I did feel bad for Jurina too).  And the 3 'sisters' were so cute :D

Someone please help me though.  I instantly recognised Kaneko Shiori as the first sister and I figured out Katou Rumi from the easy to read hiragana, but who was the third girl?

I'll definitely be looking forward to Kumi's appearance next week.  And Oh God was that also Hiramatsu Kanako in the preview?  Please tell me I'm not wrong cause that girl is so cute and I'd love to see her in this show :D

^Forgive my SKE ignorance, but what is that first screencap from?

As for this weeks ep, my god KanaKana is so cute! :D  Her appearance was the highlight of the show for me.

It was pretty funny with the girls eating the curry :lol:  And Jurina's little squeal was so cute XD  What had they done to the curry?  Made it super spicy?

Kumi had a pretty good character and I enjoyed her performance in this weeks ep.  I liked that she played it pretty serious almost the whole way through but she did bust out the odd comical moment.

And OnimaruP made me laugh pretty hard when Non was giving her explanation and he leaned into view :lol:  I'm so glad they got that guy for this show cause he's fricken hilarious XD

Jurina's transformation was cool, but I had no idea who she was supposed to be :nervous

Also, Churi just seem like she wants to burst out laughing whenever she's supposed to be acting serious XD

Next weeks preview, wow Rena :wub:

^I haven't seen the series on any video streaming sites yet but you can download the series from the Hello!Online forums tracker if you are a member.  And there are probably a few other sites you can download it from.

There are also softsubs available (so far only for the first 2 eps) at this forum:

I don't understand much Japanese so these softsubs have really helped me to enjoy the show :)  But even if you don't understand Japanese, I'd still recommend watching it as it is a lot of fun.

This wasn't one of my favourite episodes, but that really isn't a critisism considering how much I enjoy this show :)  It was a good episode with a lot of laughs but, well, for me anyway, it didn't quite 'take off' like some of the episodes have.  Neverless, Akane and Jurina's little makeup session was totally lulzy :lol:  And Rena basically stole my heart for the entire episode with how stunning she looked in those 2 dresses :D  Lots of fun all round once again.  This show really doesn't know how to fail.

Also, I like that they added the theme tune on their website.  I'm half tempted to see if I can find a way to use it as a ringtone for my phone XD

Wasn't there a news a while ago about Rena being too sick while recording Magical Radio that they had to stop filming or something? I wonder what episode shoot that was.

EDIT: So I finally watched it. Not really up to par with their past crazy episodes, but it's I guess it's quite understandable since it's a Christmas special, and they're trying to tie in the loose ends before the series finale next week. Also, I find it weird who Gomatan just magically pops into the scenes. One minute, it's just the five main casts, and the next, she's already standing next to them. Like nothing happened, lol! Where does she come from?

It's just so sad that this is only another 12-episode series, like Mousu Deka. In my opinion, they could've totally dragged this series on since there isn't really a set plot to it. Kinda like those American sitcoms where there's just  a season-long arc, but every episode is pretty much a stand alone. Ah, the possibilities. I'm going to miss Rena's awesome monologues. Where will we able to see it if not for this show? :(

Damn it, SKE needs its own weekly variety that will last for more than a few months! :angry:

2.) AD Ogiso and AD Kimoto in the same scene, not to mention pwning Onimaru-P (lol, usually they just alternate each episode)

Aww heck!  It really is over, isn't it :cry:  I love this show so much it's hard to believe I just watched the last ep since it barely feels like it's been any time at all since it started.

Anyways, this was another wonderful ep.  Not one of the funniest, but possibly one of the best cause it was a very nice finish to the series.  I liked that the brought back a few of the guests briefly.

That DVD box is expensive but seeing the out-takes in the rolling credits on the last ep is already making me want it :)  What is the difference between the standard and ltd edition versions?  Is the only difference the booklet, pass cards and neck strap?  As long as all the footage is included in both versions I might cheap out and go for the non-ltd version.

I actually wish they'd give this a bluray release.  We are lucky being able to watch it in high resolution thanks to the fans who tape it and upload it.  Watching it on DVD after this is gonna seem like quite a step down.

Hmm, I wonder what the chances of this show getting renewed for a second season are?

I found the final ep to be a bit slow in the beginning, but it picked up in the second half pretty well.

Overall, this was such a fun, fun, fun show to watch. Rena's crazy monologues, Churi being Churi(and getting pretty comfortable acting in the second half of the series :O), Jurina's flashbacks, the random crazy guest star girls... so well done. Sato Jiro and Wakabayashi Masayasu were also great in their roles. And once again, Rena demonstrated her acting skills beautifully. She pulled off every serious, creepy, funny, and insane line she had perfectly. I deeply enjoyed it and I will 100% watch it again. I would love to get the DVD set but man those prices combined with the exchange rate are nuts. I'm thinking about it though. D:

A few highlights:
- There were a handful of extra monomanes and confessions they cut. Rena and Jurina's Inoki monomane was lulzy.
- Didn't expect that it was senburi tea they gave Rena when she ate the wasabi inari sushi. Talk about double whammy! No wonder her expression was like that.  XD
- Churi and melon pan nabe... Jurina and mikan nabe... :P
- Rena shows a bit of her naughty streak, ahahaha! Love how she looked around for a second before pressing that zombie call button again! Poor Jurina was sent into another tizzy.  :lol:
- Kanakana! Shawako! Kumi! Kanon!
- Split-second moment where Jurina slaps herself.
- Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), Rena seems to have the most NGs. Understandable, I guess, considering the usual length (and content) of her lines. Her monologues alone were bound to be a gold mine.  :lol:

Yes!!!!  I prayed for a second season and already it's announced :D

This show is just so damn awesome that it deserves a second run.  I second those who would like to see more regular girls added too.  There are some great SKE girls who didn't get shown in season one.  Hopefully they'll get a chance this time.

As long as 'Rena mysteriously disappears' doesn't mean that we'll only see her from time to time, I'm happy.  Rena was quite a large part of why I loved the first series and I hope she still stays a prominent character.  Though I'll also be really pleased to see what Kumi can bring to the show if she's gonna be more involved now :)

Wow, this episode was great.  :rofl:

Churi's poise has grown leaps and bounds since season 1. Being a frontgirl has done wonders.

I loved seeing faces break character in the old H!M skits, so the Rena slap scene was gold for me. Much less that amazing one-eyed bride bit. Wowza.

Kumi is great, both for the drama and the comedy. Rolling-eyes Kumi LOL. Metal!Kumi was hilarious this episode, but I hope they mix it up with other stuff in future episodes, as that's a gimmick that won't work multiple times, unlike the Rena monologues.

Except now, instead of monologues we get letter-readings! XD XD XD Omg. Dying. Rena old-man imitations are so much win, reminds me of Makoto's old-man imitations.

Lol poor Goma. But her hitting Wakabayashi was also great. And of course his horrified scream on learning about the letter switch was brilliant.

Yeah, +1. Great, great, great.

It's been a while since I actually laughed out loud at a TV show. "Angela Aki Takajo"  :lol: and Wakabayashi's reaction when he found out about the love letter was priceless.

I'm especially impressed by Kumi. The between serious acting and craziness is flawless. As a metal fan myself, I approve of Kumi's character.  XD This role will get her a decent ranking in the election for sure.

I don't like the new set that much. Lacks in color and it looks like an actual radio studio haha. Aw well, with characters this great you don't need a fancy set.

Rena's weekly monomane is still the gem of this series, but Kumi-sama really rocked the episode. :lol: It's really nice to see her in a 'normal' comedic role. You know, one where she isn't being used as a punching bag, or made to dress with boy clothes.

I like how this show still has the same feel but is focusing on some different characters.

I enjoyed the first episode. Characters are solid, Churi's acting/participation has improved, the fun is still there, more Ogichan.. good stuff all around.

While Kuumin has technically taken over Rena's job as director, it seems like she has taken Jurina's spot instead. Rather than Jurina's weekly transformation into some famous character, it looks like we're gonna be seeing Kumi's death metal alter ego every week now. It makes me wonder how and when they're going to bring her back. At least with Rena, even though she's not there in real time, she still has her monologue and flashback segments for every episode. I figured that discovering the secret to her disappearance might be their season-long goal this time around. And who could miss that bring yellow paper with Rena's face plastered on the wall?  :P But with Jurina, it's all just one-sided phone calls.

P.S. Masana suits the office lady look so well. Must be the obaachan spirit in her.  :lol:

I was re-watching some f the Season 1 episodes, and in the one where Kumi came to the future they foreshadowed Wakabayashi's affection for Akane! I never realized that, but Akane's great+ grandfather looks the same as Wakabayashi  :lol: Don't over think it or it will become very wrong, haha.

This week's ep was a bit talk heavy.
- Akane walked like a bird  :lol: Inicentally, Akane's way of talking and behavious reminded me a lot of Becky somehow.
- lol, barely any reaction from Yuria
- HUGE reaction from Kumi  :lol: need sound bites. (no creep) The first "aauuuhh" was hilarious.
- A wild Hara appears... Metal fan = Yankii? What's with this negative stereotyping :V
- Rena talking in Osaka-ben
- Hata's into Wakabayashi? Is this a soap opera or a comedy show? lol

Yuria as a vampire.... somehow, Magical Radio is slowly turning into Mosou Deka.   :nervous I always thought it was just part of their imaginations, but guess it would explain those powers she displayed before. Also, it was really fun watching the other girls' reaction in the back while each do the impromptu segment of the week. Non and Shawako were especially fun to watch - Non with her incredulous reactions and Shawako with her 'lolwat!' face. :lol: Shawako seems to shed the super shy girl image whenever she's acting from the script, much like Rena. I think she's a great addition to the cast.

On a side note, it seems like Rena is ready to make her live appearance next episode? If its true, then the only one missing would be Jurina. Is she even going to make an appearance here?  :?

yes, kumi said that she has a boyfriend who is the exact opposite of her alter-ego (devil-kumi) :lol:

in the end he broke up with her because he's too shocked seeing kumi fighting with all those alpacas  XD

I think it was quite funny, and yes she did monomane sakana-kun, I think that's why her character's name is kemono-chan...
well at least we can see the member are trying very hard to hold their laughs when they heard mizuki's talking :lol:

Is it just me or the weather forecast reporter voice is Nishishi's voice? :?

-I swear I had sudden flashbacks of 3 separate AKBINGO episode when I watched this. :lol: Akarin's really perfect for these double-faced roles. First was the not-so-nice nun in Mousu Deka, now this.
- Epic Rena entrance is EPIC, swooping in like some superhero, complete with the swelling music and obligatory slow-motion. :P
-once again they remembered to insert Jurina's name into the script. Now all she needs to do is make and appearance and we're all set, especially since Rena is back in the radio station too.

Next week's episode features Rumi and Nishishi, so that leaves Rikachan and Yukko as the only Team S members that haven't made a guest appearance yet.

^She didn't. I was just counting appearances that dated back to the first season. Nishishi, Aki, Rumi, Shiitan, Haachan, Yuria, Kuumin, Kanakana and Akarin all made their guest appearances during the 1st season. This 2nd season we've already had Masana and Mizuki. So technically, Rikachan and Yukko are the remaining Team S members who have yet to appear in MajiRaji.  :D

Somehow this ep was a little less interesting than the previous ones this seasons. The Yuria esper storyline isn't that interesting imo.
Nice guest appearances by Nakanishi and the newbs. Would've liked to see more of them.

Agreed. Even if I was anticipating this episode the most, it was pretty low-brow; it didn't really feel like any thing was wrong other than the two things that popped up. I still don't get Yuria's character! orz

You know what, I think I enjoyed Mukaida Manatsu the most in this ep  :O2
Usually she doesn't really stand out at all, but she's great in these wacky acting gigs.
She was also good in Mousou Deka and the little skits on Sekai Seifuku Joshi, and she pwnd this too.
I especially lolled at that final face/scream  :lol:

- Love triangle story line continuation
- Nice Kumi moments
- Awesome outfits throughout the episode
- Shibata Aya ranger!
- Onimaru messing up taking the shawl of Wakabayashi
- Fancy montage with cutscenes
- Elongated screams lol
- Rena, Jurina, Metal Kumi, Vamp Yuria, etc. etc. all in one ep!

Such a full and chaotic ep  :lol:

But honestly, they had me at Sentai-pink Churi~

For people looking for the detective characters they were acting:

Hmm.... bit of an anti-climax  :nervous but at least it wasn't a total cry fest like last season's finale.

Akane was great in this ep. She's steadily climbing in my ranking  :yep:
The love trio climax was pretty funny. This way Wakachin doesn't enrage some of the die-hard fans lol.

Looking forward to the outtakes  :thumbup

Over at last, eh? Overall, I enjoyed this season a lot. They changed up the show into something pretty different but still retained that same fun of the first season.  It's always fun to get something familiar but not a total rehash. The storytelling a little sloppy and they constantly built up so much hype on certain elements only to end it with a slapstick conclusion. Then again, this isn't The Godfather, it's Magical Radio. :lol: The entire cast was good. I'll never be able to forget Kumi's "Goooooo toooooo hellllllllllllllll." :lol: Akane also seemed to become noticeably more comfortable acting this season, so major props for her and perhaps she'll get more opportunities in the future thanks to that. :thumbup It was also cool to have Shawako be a part of the show this time around. Jurina's cameos were also very well done. I was a bit worried when she showed back up she'd take over the show again, but surprisingly she didn't. They let the show they started play out. Props, producers.

All in all, great season that I could easily watch all over again. Loved it.

First thoughts:

- AWYEAH, epic, can't wait!
- Not feeling Rie in SKE48 yet. At all.
- No other major cast changes, which is a bit surprising! I predict Nanako will appear in one of the eps.
- The band story line could be great, especially since metal Kuumin is still around.

Shawako drummer fits like a glove lol. She's shy so being in the back fits and she is eccentric which is the stereotype for drummers. It might have nothing to do with the plot though so I won't get my hopes up that she is holding drumsticks. But if they really do end up playing the instruments they are shown with it seems Rena will again be a producer, Jurina looks like the vocals, but I have no idea what part Takayanage will take. She is not positioned as second vocals and I don't think her character would accept backing vocals. Maybe she we'll fight for front girl position with Jurina?

A few thoughts about Season 3 so far.

-I'm paradoxically entertained but underwhelmed. The show's alright so far but it's just more of the same typical Magiradi. And so far the challenge segments have been pretty meh. I hope things improve.

-u mad Rena? I hate her character so far this season. She's turned into a huge bitch. She's not even like Rie who at least participates with the other employees. She just shows up, let's everyone know how bad they're doing, and leaves. These are your friends, bitch! I bet Rena's reading this script and like, "wtf, what happened to my character between the seasons?"

-Rie's character and participation are fine but I would have preferred her to be less smug and more fun. She was way better in the second episode so I bet she'll be fine.

-The interaction between characters so far has been paper thin compared to the past seasons. For example, Wakachin and Churi/Shawako no longer have any tension between them. Kumi's not really aspiring to anything anymore. Yuria's magic is gone. I know I'm demanding meaningful plot from Magical Radio but come on! :lol:

As much as I love this series overall I'm starting to wonder if it's run its course. I don't want characters to turn mean or meaningless in this goofy show just to make it seem more original. :thumbdown: Hopefully it will improve on these aspects.

^+1. Seems like Magical Radio has lost its magic.

There's still hope, but so far it's been quite bland.
I can sorta appreciate the Rie VS Akane tension since that's happening in real life now as well.
Let's hope this show brings all of them a bit closer together for a more unified SKE in the future.

The highlight of the show so far has been the craptacular songs at the end of each episode  :lol:

Can someone explain the Jurina storyline? It's completely lost on me  :nervous

Really wondering why they reset most of the charas. It's like the Majisuka Gakuen 2 effect. :nervous
But it is just 2 episodes in, maybe just needs a little more time to get into its groove again.

Lack of Rena's mousou plays is rather disappointing too.  ;) C'mon, that's basically MajiRaji's signature corner.
I wouldn't even mind if it was another member doing it or if they took turns.

I actually have only seen small excerts from seasons 1 & 2, so I hope to watch this whole season.

Have enjoyed reading the comments from those who have seen the first two seasons, as it gives context.

Quick comments:
1) Yuria- talented actress- hope she can move on up to being regularly cast in dramas and comedies on television. I think she is that good.

2) Akane- is a franchise player (you don't trade her, you build your team around her) Keep her prominent.

3) I am going to be missing Kumi big time, as well as Shiori- a chance to see them here is a golden opportunity. For me, Kumi still always catches my eye, no matter how small the line.

4) As mentioned above, Rie part mirrors the reality.....but hopefully this will create some good bonds.

5) I think Jurina is a force to be reckoned with, as a leader, as a performer on stage, but I think her variety skills are on par with many of the other girls, not superior.
 
6) Superior skils Rena does have, but, as mentioned above, this season's character is not really optimum choice.

7) Sawako and Kanon doing their thang- and their thang is working- good job!

I really enjoyed this episode.

I thought theinterplay between Shiori Ogiso and Miki Yakata (as the alien) was quite good, and very well acted. Shiori's character gave up her own chance to get ahead as a director, and instead chose the what was best for her friend, played by Miki.

And hats off to the two men in black (Shiori Iguchi and Mieko Sato)!

Great show- first Nishishi does a great job, wish we could have seen more!

Then, there seems to be a thaw in the frosty relations
between Rie and Churi- with thanks to the charcter played by Nanako Suga- good job Nanako!!
