Mayuyu: She’s fashionable.

Paruru: Today is amazing (bitter laugh)

Mayuyu: Short sleeves…(laughs). But, I always see your fashion and think you’re fashionable.

Paruru: Everything. Even in this interview, it doesn’t seem like we’re the same age, isn’t she level-headed!? Mayu-san is cute and as an idol she’s perfect!

Mayuyu: No no….(Blushes and laughs)

Paruru: We don’t see each other in private! I don’t know what Mayu-san does on her days off.

 Conversely, what childish aspect do you feel within yourself?

Mayuyu: My eating habits. I have a lot of likes and dislikes, and ever since I was small I couldn’t eat vegetables. When I become an adult, I think that I have to fix my eating habits.

Paruru: I have a lot of childish aspects, but I don’t want to fix them.

 From now on as an adult, what role would you carry on in AKB?

Mayuyu: Since long ago, AKB is a place where its good qualities and importance are conveyed to the girls who are newly joined, so I’d like for that to be properly conveyed.

 It’s surely an adult role!?

Mayuyu: Since before, the seniors who supported AKB are graduating one after the other which feels dangerous, that awareness has sprouted.

 What about Shimazaki-san?

Paruru: I’m bad at handshake events…No matter how hard I try it’s impossible so I’ll just leave it alone (bitter smile)

Mayuyu: You’ll leave it alone!? (laughs)

Mayuyu turns 20 on March 26th, Paruru on March 30th and Milky was born on September 19th, so you’ve already come of age. Are you drinking alcohol?
Milky: I’m not really drinking much. I’ve had a little, but I know that I’m pretty weak, and I haven’t gotten to grips with it yet. I don’t have anyone to get used to it with.

Milky: I’d drink together with someone, but amongst the members there’s nobody else who’s my age.
Are the other two of you interested in alcohol?
Mayuyu & Paruru: [Look at each other]
Paruru: There’s nobody around me who drinks.
Mayuyu: Me too.
Milky: Hehehe, Mayuyu, I think it’d be bad if you got drunk.

Paruru: I'm getting my younger brother a video game console - I chose it with him yesterday.

Milky: She has a gentle character around her family ~
Now, as idols, you no longer have youth on your side, but instead your most important equipment is your skills and experiences. Please tell me your impressions of each other as you turn 20 years old. Milky, tell me what you think of Mayuyu.

When you sang “Kimi no Na wa Kibou” during the AKB48 Kohaku Singing Contest, and when you sang “Sotsugyou” at the FNS Music Festival. Those times, my heart was really shaken. You’re not only good at singing, you can do anything. There isn’t anything that isn’t possible for Mayuyu ~ that’s what I think.
Mayuyu: Aaah, I’m happy. I’m shining…
Paruru, how about Milky?
Paruru: Hmm. I haven’t really thought about her in that way before.

What are your vows and objectives on turning 20?
Mayuyu: Yup, I don’t really have any determinations for my 20th year, but I don’t want to change anything that’s good, and I want to continue evolving and growing.
Mr Okada: Milky, you’ve changed, right?
Milky: I’ve got some idea of the various ways I’ve changed, but I enjoy looking forward without worrying about what happened in the past. Honestly, I don’t care about how I’ve changed, but I think I worry less than I used to.
Mr Okada: Before, when something big happened, when your comrades would all write about it on their blogs, you wouldn’t write anything about your feelings. But recently, you’ve been writing about yourself the most.
Milky: It’s not really that it’s a conscious thing, but if you say so. I respect Paruru doesn’t take anything seriously, and so in order to stop caring what people think, I’ve been beginning to think that it would be good to show more about myself.

Milky: Why I’ve changed. Ah, but! Everyone, have you noticed the nature of Paruru’s unsociable attitude? Actually, Paruru thinks too much about what other people think of her. She composes her reply while worrying about how she might hurt the person she’s talking to. Isn’t that right, Paruru?

If I remember correctly, there have been times during MCs at performance when Paruru’s been observed keeping quiet so as not to get in the way of the other girls who are talking.
Paruru: I’m not sure I see what you’re getting at, but sure, there’s a part of me that’s like that. But even if that’s the case, there are times when I say something that’s misunderstood. Only I know what I mean.
Sometimes, when you drop a bomb, it seems very calculated.
Paruru: I was just thinking about the timing.

What do you think of becoming 20 years old, Paruru?
Paruru: Up until now, I haven’t really been interested in other people, but I’m thinking of listening to what people say now that I’m 20. For example, the three of us are the same year, and we’re all idols, but we’re totally different people. For example, while I'm happy eating a pork bowl for a few hundred yen, maybe rich people don’t know that experience at all. And there’s also the reverse of that. There are various people in the world, so thinking about learning about other cultures, I want to try listening to what they have to say. Up until now, I haven’t had any interest in that at all, right? [laughs]
Mayuyu, what do you think of MIlky and Paruru?
Mayuyu: Up until now, Paruru has been an idol with an anti-social character, and I think she’s been solidifying that all this time. It feels really natural. I think it feels like the breadth of AKB48 has grown a little more.
Mayuyu, you’re a fan of idols, so what do you think of Paruru’s character?
Mayuyu: She’s really living in a way that makes it seem like she doesn’t care. It’s not limited to her attitude, but the whole atmosphere she gives off is different and really charming. If I could be Paruru for one day, I’d spend the whole day enjoying having that anti-social attitude [laughs].
Milky: I want to do it toooooo! [laughs]
Mayuyu: Milky is an idol who’s always smiling, bright and cheerful, but I haven’t I haven’t really met her much before now. But I respect her for having a very strong heart and never being intimidated by her seniors. Some of the things she’s said to me today have been really bold considering I’m her senior who’s been in AKB48 since the start. She’s a wonderful idol. She keeps a tight grip on the hearts of her fans. This is something she was born to do.
Mr Okada: Paruru, you said you thought Mayuyu was walking the path of a true idol. What part of Mayuyu’s appearance do you want the most?
Paruru: Her face. I want it!
Mayuyu: That’s… I’m so ugly… [ashamed face]
