Being an unabashed Trekker, I remember watching the 2009 reboot movie and being slightly surprised at how much I actually liked it (or more precisely, how much I did NOT despise it). Now obviously this lead to the inevitable talk of a sequel, and in particular, the number of rumours going around online regarding what story they would do for said sequel; as in, whether or not they'd do something completely original, or mimic the original movie series and do a rebooted story with
Kahn Noonien Singh (originally seen in the episode
Space Seed and the second Trek movie,
The Wrath of Khan,
Garth of Izar (from the
Whom Gods Destroy episode) or if they'd do a movie version of TOS's second pilot episode,
Where No Man Has Gone Before (a.k.a. the
Gary Mitchell episode). The majority of the more recent online rumblings seem to suspect that it's likely to be some version of the Mitchell story, but we'll find out for sure when the movie actually comes out.
At any rate, the first preview vids have now come out. I've also included the Japanese version of the trailer as it contains 10 seconds of additional/extra footage compared to the N.American one.
Teaser Trailer video (Paramount is calling it an "Announcement video")
Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...neat.
EDIT: Added link to the movie's official website.
