The first release of 2007 is already here! Liberation is a free album by Madlib and Talib Kweli. The concept is simple: Madlib's behind the boards and Kweli's on the mic. Kweli + Madlib = straight fire :yep:

Talib Kweli and Madlib - Liberation

01. The Show
02. Funny Money
03. Time Is Right
04. Engine Running feat. Consequence
05. Over The Counter

this is too dope!  So much classics!  Wish it were longer than 2 bars each, but that would make it super long.  Nice up!  I'mma have to download a lot of these forgotten gems.  I found the tracklisting (but not in order) here : http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/mistajam/2006/12/19792006_a_hiphop_odyssey_1.shtml

New Common shit!

Common - Play Your Cards Right feat. Bilal (from Smoking Aces soundtrack)
http://www.sendspace.com/file/2tbihv

Play Your Cards Right live on Tonight Show

Common is freestyling off the dome and sounding as dope as always. It's always nice to see legends like Common freestyling and I wish established MCs did it more often.

FUCK YEAH!!!:pimp:

Wu Tang Clan name new album
Rap collective plan to breathe new life in hip-hop

Wu Tang Clan have revealed further details of their forthcoming comeback album.

As previously reported on NME.COM, the hip-hop legends signed up for a one album deal at the end of 2006.

Now band member RZA has confirmed that the band will release a new LP entitled '8 Diagram' in the US later this summer through SRC Records.

He added: "People want something that gives them an adrenaline rush. We're here to supply that fix. How could hip-hop be dead if Wu Tang is forever? We're here to revive the spirit and the economics and bring in a wave of energy that has lately dissipated."

The release is expected to feature unreleased material from the late Ol' Dirty Bastard and a tribute track called 'Life Changes', reports Billboard.

The collective are also planning to tour later this year, although no dates have yet been announced.

Before that the band will release a rarities collection in the US on February 6 entitled 'Wu Tang Clan & Friends - Unreleased

I dug the sample off http://www.wutangcorp.com, so refreshing to hear the guitars + GZA.

I'm hearing Just Blaze and Kanye West doing producing on the new Wu joint, ehhhh....I'm mixed on that. This might be another Iron Flag.

Little Brother and 9th Wonder part ways, and asking for a release from Atlantic.

Quote from: Hiphopgame
"First, I want to say that Little Brother has not been dropped from
Atlantic," Rapper Pooh told HipHopGame. "At this time we are in the
process of negotiating our release from the label due to a difference in
philosophies."

"We asked to be released," Manager Big Dho added. "I think we may just
put the album out on Asylum to close our deal, but it's definitely a
wrap for us at Atlantic. We weren't happy with how things were going and
we decided we wanted to leave and on their end, they decided that they
didn't want to deal with that either."

"It's no big deal though," Dho added. "Nobody on our end is mad or has
any ill feelings towards their company."

"It wasn't a situation where they decided to drop us due to lack of
sales," Pooh said. "If that was the case, they never would have opened
up the budget for us to record Getback ."

Getback, Little Brother's third album, is close to completion but has no
release date yet.

"We as a group just felt that it was not in our best interest to remain
in a situation where our needs were constantly being overlooked. We
didn't have an A&R for The Minstrel Show. We don't have any type of
relationship with our current A&R. There are just a lot of internal
issues that ended up working against us."

Pooh also addressed the rumors regarding producer 9th Wonder's
involvement, or lack thereof, in Little Brother's Getback. "Little
Brother has decided, in the best interest of the group, for Little
Brother and 9th Wonder to part ways. There are no hard feelings and no
beef. This is just a decision that had to be made so all three of us
could move forward and continue to provide the world with dope music.

Little Brother's latest mixtape, And Justus For All, mixed by DJ Mick
Boogie, will be available for download February 13. "The decision to
release And Justus For All via download was a decision made by us. After
the Drama situation, we felt it was in the best interest of all of us to
just give this mixtape away with the current climate of the mixtape
scene."

And Justus For All will be available for download February 13. More
details on where to download it will be given closer to the release
date.

I wish for the best on their separate ways.  Little Brother isn't the same anymore.
word.
