“My Darling is a Foreigner”, will we see a sequel?

"My Darling is a Foreigner" starring Inoue Mao (23) opened today and the cast attended a stage greeting at the Toho Cinema in Roppongi, Tokyo. The movie is based on a popular manga by the same name and describes the daily life of a Japanese woman her American boyfriend.

In the original story you are able to follow the couple until the birth of their first child. The movie doesn't go that far, but the director mentioned that he would love to continue the story with Inoue. She smiled and replied, "It all depends on the success of this movie and you, the audience." Her reaction showed that she would like to film a sequel as well. Now it's the job of the people to make this movie successful enough for that to actually happen.

The story is about the Japanese woman Saori (Inoue) and American man Tony (Jonathan Sherr). First full of conflicts and cultural differences, the two of them soon start to love each other and eventually advance to marriage. She begins to refer to him as "darling", a term not very often used by Japanese and repeatedly the cause for some funny moments throughout the movie.

About marrying a foreigner herself, Inoue said: "I think that would be nice." Further she added: "I always thought and still think that I'm someone with little prospects of getting married, but I would really like to run into a great partner soon and live a life as a married couple."

Mao is lead in 八日目の蟬 (Youkame no Semi) (Rebirth / literal: The Cicada's Eighth Day) in this film. Have not see the film, but with Mao, you have guarantee of good to great performance.

A lot more to the above clip....Mika has just come back after a serious ear condition that caused her to put he career on hold, so when she sang the song "Dear" at this press conference, it was Mika's first performance since she came back. Mao and fellow star Hiromi Nagasaku both tear up, as does Mika, and the audience yells out congratulations to Mika for her comeback.....talk about verklempt moment!!!
read about it in TokyoHive clip

I grabbed a limo at the studio parking lot, sped over to Mao's residence, and when I got there I told her, on behalf of the entire JPH!P fandom, I am here to escort you back to Page 1, where you belong.

MyMusicStyleOne matches a great song by Eiichi Ohtaki 大瀧 詠一 with a lovely Maocentric slideshow:

Shun Oguri has learned to listen to Mao's advice, whether it be a philosophical discussion, or just the best internet hook-up: :thumbsup

she was a much better MC than Matsushita Nao and she was so happy when they won. All her dresses were so pretty too, especially the kimono!  :twothumbs

OT: I normally side with Shirogumi because I'm a huge fan of Arashi but Akagumi deserved to win this year!! So happy they did!
