Everytime I watch clips from concerts and stuff I feel that there are some members in H!P who are underappreciated.
For me it would be two girls from Country Musume: Kimura Asami and Saito Miuna. They really know how to bring it :) Asami can really dance.
So, who do you think is underappreciated and why?
Please do not turn this into an " she is overrated/bashing" thread ;)

Well in sexiness, to me it's Ayaka... In H!P concerts she always catches my eye even if I don't really try to pay attention to her or anything. I always see her and think "ah, Ayaka is so sexy" XD Her smile and all. I don't know it that counts as being underrated, ROFL! (I'd love to see her do better in our annual hotness poll, but since musumes are turning 18, I don't see her even making it to top 10 next time)
And IN A WAY Koharu is: even if her Kirarin singles have been selling like hotcakes some people just can't give her any credit. The point is that SHE makes a great Kirari, she is adorably dumbly goofy and sparkly. I think she'd deserve to be more popular than she is.
Also, *I feel* that members who were once the aces of Momusu are kinda becoming underrated these days, like Nacchi, Gocchin and Rika. People just seem to forget about all the graduated members and follow the mothership that is Morning Musume. It's to be expected, but still a bit sad to see how the people who made Momusu's existance possible are being pushed into a corner and forgotten about. And I always take it personally if I see someone show disrespect to 1st gen, cuz if it wasn't for those 5 girls you wouldn't have Yossi, Risa, Reina, or any of the girls from the following gens (not to mention the other units!)... So yeah lol. Pleaaase don't underappreciate the 'old members' XD XD XD

I'm not good at those topics but when I look at my small Berryz universe I'd say that Tokunaga Chinami is underrated :D
She hardly gets line in BK songs etc. the only thing she seems to be doing "a lot" is MCing in concerts etc. but her voice isn't that bad at all maybe just does not fit in the group as good as Momoko's, Risako's and Miyabi's. She's also a good dancer and definitely a happy-looking person.
It's healthy to pay attention to her because it will lighten your mood! :D

yeah, agree that girls in smaller groups like Berryz or C-ute has a few underrated girls. The fact is that MM started out the same way and that's the way to sell i guess.
As a unit, MKB is slightly underrated if you notice how many singles/performance/events they get per year.

Ogawa Makoto is underrated. I know she's "away" right now, but even when she wasn't... Virtually NO lines in songs and it took her graduating before she even got another photobook. Plus, she's an awesome dancer and cute.
And yeah.
The whole elder club is underrated (specifically Kei, Yuki, Ayaka and poor Atsuko.)

Iida Kaori was and is terribly underrated. In more ways than one.

Kei Yasuda. You might not like how she sings, looks or whatever, but you can't deny that her 'butt-of-the-joke' personality did a GREAT task in keeping talks fun on Utaban, etc... It is mean, but joking at her expense has prolly made a group to look forward to in talk shows out of MM for many people. However, she's not normaly listed as one of MM's 'pillars'...
Also, *I feel* that members who were once the aces of Momusu are kinda becoming underrated these days, like Nacchi, Gocchin and Rika. I'd add Tsunku there too then, couse 1st gen wouldn't be half of what it was/is if it wasn't because of Tsunku or SharanQ's popularity.

Agree'd with this statement. Even the Koha part, whom I don't really like. But you really can't deny her success, and that has merit, even if she was the Kirari character in those releases, its still her singing and performing. Nearly all her singles have sold 100% more than it did its first week of release, and not to mention charting in the top 100 for a long ass time. Outselling some recent MM singles, all by herself.
Aika might be underrated, since most have a love it or hate it opinion with her. But you can't deny that ever since she joined MM has had kick-ass singles: Egao Yes Nude, Kanashimi Twilight, Onna ni Sachi Are.
This whole thread is hitting its nail on its head, especially with the Elder Club comments.

a good number of the graduated H!P members didn't get a whole lotta love. Rika Ishii should've been used for more than just Douyou Pops and one volume of Folk Songs.

The Eggs are way underrated! What do they do? Dance... umm.... Dance... umm... We have the Ongaku Gatas girls! 2 of them don't get solos, but at least they have something! A lot of them have nice voices!
But really, the Eggs don't get enough love. Sure we have THE Possible, Ongaku Gatas, and Tomoiki if you want to count them, but other than that, they just dance. Look at their concert! A lot of the girls get shafted to dancing or just not singing. So what's the point of them being there if they never get a chance to sing and hear their voices. You could use the Eggs to make so many subunits and revive some old ones! Does H!P need more back-up dancers? They use Berryz and C-ute a lot of the times!
I think that Mari is underrated to. But at least she's getting to sing again!

I love her so much, she's my favorite and she has very few photos around, no pbs (like saki and chinami) but she's CUTE. she's growing up so good :wub:

Kanna from C-ute is underrated. I think that fact that she was the '+1' member no one was expecting makes it hard for others to appreciate her (I think even the C-ute girls had difficulty before they became comfortable with her). She can sing, she's got some moves, and she brought some kind of 'spunk' to C-ute when she arrived.

Okay, so Nacchi gets alot of love, but what about the over four?
They're awesome. Yuko and Kaori should really be doing more.
Asuka and Aya were amazing. Asuka was one of the best vocalists Momusu has ever had.

Melon Kinenbi are underrated, but they're just awesome, they have cool voices, and looks pretty, megumi is cute, ayumi and masae are gorgeous and hitomi is funny. I really love their songs and i just can't understand why they haven't more fans.
I can say the same things about Kaorin, and all momusu 1st gen.

A few years ago I would of said Risa was underrated, because not many people seemed to like her, in fact I recall a certain Risa & Aichan thread on another forum that had barely any Risa content at all (which annoyed me greatly) and I felt quite alone sometimes as a fan of Risa's... but... it's a way different now lol, I'm glad lots of people are seeing her talent at last.

Since what I've wanted to say here has pretty much been said, I'll say Aika. I've been an Aika fan since the beginning. Sure, her voice was a little... shaky at first, and her dancing sucked. But she has improved so much. What Koharu has done in 2 and a half years, Aika has done in a few months. She has a cute and unique voice, and her smile and attitude can cheer anyone up easily. But why do people hate her? "She sucked in the audition and has a stupid voice." Mehh.

I really don't think she's that underrated, but my judging may not be so good since I don't watch the shows or the perfomances that much...
But I really DO think that she's cute, portraits a sweet personality and seems very polite!
Maasa... My little queen is underrated. She may not have a good voice but she has a very bright personality. She's turning into a beautiful woman so that why all the Berryz should be envious of her.
I generally agree with all of you. Elder Club + Iida Kaori (she has such a charm!)

Yasuda Kei and Inaba Atsuko. They both get tossed aside as "Eww so-and-so" (moreso Atsuko), but they happen to be two of the most talented members of Hello! Project. Any opportunity I get to see Kei and Inaba perform, I cherish.

Like others have said Koha doesn't get the credit she deserves despite some of her sales figures. I'm a fan myself but it's fair enough that other people aren't, what I can't udnerstand is why some people hate her as much as they do. I reckon Mari and Kaori were under-rated too, simply because they did a great job and were two of the longest (maybe even the longest?) serving members without ever really getting too much recognition. Without Mari I never would have evn bothered listening to H!P so she always have a place in my heart for that. ;)

I'm not a fan of Koharu so I'll put this as soft as I can: I think it's because she gets to be center in singles and gets a lot more lines even though she(in my opinion, and I guess in the opinion of those who hate her) isn't as qualified for those things as other girls in MM are. That + the fact that some of those other girls barely get lines or spotlight = Koharu haters. Then there's people who just hate everything about her, just because it's a matter of taste. I do agree though that all of this may not let them see that Koharu is actually a good entertainer, so maybe she could be underrated in that sense.

- Chinami's just plain awesome. She's always cheerful and tries her hardest, and she gets such little credit.

- Chisato. I think this one goes without saying. Chisato's got an awesome voice, and they don't give her a chance to really shine.

OH MAN.
I can not believe I forgot to mention her. I feel bad now. She definitely WAS underrated. I remember the first time I saw her in Koi no Dance Site... I immediately adored her. And I still listen to Cubic-Cross ALL THE TIME.

KAORI. Oh my lord. She was one of my first favorites when I first got into Morning Musume and still is. She just has an air of sophistication about her and she is always cool. And her hair is lovely~ <3 She was in Morning Musume the longest, but yet no one really paid any attention to her. I don't understand why she is so underrated.
Then there is Asuka, Aya Ishiguro, and Ichii Sayaka. These girls are so underrated that I didn't even know they existed until almost a year after I got into H!P. Which is really sad, because they are great. Poor Asuka had to leave way too soon.
Aaand members from Coconuts Musume and Country Musume in general are underrated, plus Heike and Maeda since I know next to nothing about them since no one ever talks about them . . XD Thus, underrated.

Chisato is amazing, she has one of the best voices in the entire H!P but most people don't find this out because they never hear her!!!!
Of course Maasa, Saki and Chinami from BK. I mean has anyone heard that clip of Maasa singing yokohama shinroku??(i think its called that...) she sounds absolutely amazing! Anata nashi from SSA was so amazing and all t the songs sounded amazing

Pretty much any of the kids who don't get regular leads are very underrated. A lot of them are really good singers, but they rarely get the chance to show it.
A lot of the elders club, too, like Kei, Kaori, Yuko, Yuki, Ayaka (and Mika when she was there) and Country Musume (shame that they're down to 1 now ;_;). Particularly I think Kei and Yuki have amazing voices, but they get almost no attention. Mako was underrated and underused while she was in MM, and I think Eri can sing better than some of the other MM members that get lots of lines, but she's terribly underused. I have to add Sayaka Ichii too. She's one of my favorite old school Musumes (right after Yuko), but she left way too early...

Funny I hit this thread for my first post, but I think about this a lot and I've got to vent. lol :lol:
Past Momusu: Kei-chan and Mako... Both way underrated and underused by Tsunku! Mako's "As For One Day" solo is proof enough. Same thing regarding Kei-chan's lines in "Souda We're Alive" and, of course in Pucchi Moni.
Present Momusu: Eririn. The gal can sing. Check out her Hello Pro Hour solo. Nuff said.
Berryz: I know she sings a lot already, but Momo has the best (should I say, unique) voice in the group even if it's better in the studio than on stage. Let's not move away from her as the recent singles suggest. (No solo in Very Beauty??!!??)
C-ute: Chisato and Saki Nakajima. Jeez, I even have to type Saki's full name... She has a very pretty voice and would be the cutest member of any group that doesn't include Hagkitty. Chisato, well, I think that's beating a dead horse. Everyone knows she has an excellent voice.
Special note here... Megumi Murakami, if she stayed, would have been a star! Incredibly talented and Tsunku knew it.
Yes, I saw someone else mention it too, let's see some more of those Eggs. Lots of cute talent there, especially the gals of The Possible and Toimoki. I also believe that Kanon Fukuda should join C-ute to make it 8 again, but please don't flame me for that.

I had really really thought Sayaka would be the perfect MM leader. :oops:
Which is why I hope Tsunku starts making mixed groups again. That's the only place under-rated members get a chance to shine.

Damn, there's proof enough that she's under-rated in the fact that I'd completely msised the fact that she'd gone. She definately was one of the more talented of the younger members, maybe even all the members in general, it would have been cool to see how she'd be in a few years from now. Damn, I found it hard to like members of C-ute too, along with Umeda she was the only one I really did.

fair enough for me, MM need less koharu miracles and more kamei power
and also i think that there are too much eggs and few chances to shine... the ongaku gatas are a example, all the eggs in there are so talented and cute... maybe doing some kind of uta doki with the eggs... i dont know

Well, well. There are so many.
Makoto to me she's one of the best H!P members ever. Or was, whatever. She is a very talented singer and not to mention, like the best dancer. <3 She's also sooo funny and a great actress. And she's really cute too. Way too many people just ignore her. :( It's soo soo sad.
Kaorin she's kind of the beauty queen of H!P but noo, she's not too popular. Why? KJHAKJSHAKJSASKJ Life is cruel.
Kei everyone knows she's underrated. And the reason is her different looks. That's just freakin stupid. She is talented in all needed areas but un-popular.
And there's many others too. :/

C-ute Kanna!!! This girl is LOVE but she doesn't get a chance to prove herself :( she also needs to be in a subunit! :)
