Once upon a time... It was weird to see such a good debut from a H!P artist. The value of gathering a young fanbase. New blood for H!P. That good amount of sells for a newbie. The bunch of weeks she refused to leave the Oricon. Best selling single in 2006 only after Morning Musume. And for those who thought the miracle would be over...

#9 - #8 - #8 - #7 TODAY!

Koi Kana first week was 8 - 8 - 10 - 13 - 13 - 13. And we know how did the story end !! Koharu pwned everyone with almost 40K.

She's behind the famous group RIP SLYME that Oricon polls said would be Weekly #4. And she has surpassed the expected #5 of The Alfee. Kusumi was not listed on the polls. IN YOUR FACE. This shows two things. One: Ninki does not ask kids. And two: Koharu is all about new blood. Any trace of a wota fanbase would have made her debut 3 (craziness of buying first day) and then falling to 10. But no! She's climbing up! Go make a Sakuranbo or Smily for her!! Pwnage era of Koharu just started! Spread the word, Koha priors! XD

Balalaika slipped to #9 on 10/30 btw, I guess that didn't help >_>;

Anyway, Kusumi PAWA! \o/ Pwn 'em all, MIRAKURU!

Ah, I missed that link in your post aedon, sorry :)

The result for 10/30 doesn't count towards the first week (10/30 is Monday and the Oricon week ends on Sunday). But the weekly rank is more affected by the higher sales on the day of release in the beginning of the week than what happens later.

Koharu is really is the miracle girl. If you look at the first week sales, Kusumi Koharu does better than Abe Natsumi, Goto Maki and GAM lately. Ranking wise she loses to those three. So the weekly rankings mainly say something about how the single compares to other singles that week. If it is a slow week, there's a much better chance to get a high ranking with moderate sales. Although a high ranking is nice, that's not the only factor determining a single's succes IMHO.

Talk about slow weeks reminds me of DEF.DIVA's Suki Sugite Baka Mitai that was like the lowest selling #1 single of 2005 XD Looking at the competition she had (Otsuka, Orange Range, etc), Koharu IS the Miracle <3

Yesterday was a national holiday in Japan (Culture Day). Dunno what the effect on the sales would be. We'll see tomorrow if Koharu-chan can maintain that ranking. Good to see those rankings though :)

jumps up to 11!
anime really does work...

not saying that she's doing well because it's tied to an anime .. Koharu is great .. but i think anime does have some effects on the sales, at least the song is exposed more to kids watching TV.. it's not just Koharu's case.. i see other songs tied to anime and doramas do great too.. may be HP should try to get their songs tied to doramas and animes more often
