So with a great year behind us, it's time to look ahead and let us know what you're looking forward to play next year (assuming the world doesn't come to a fiery apocalypse first) Here's some games I'm looking forward to, or have at least grabbed my interest enough to give me reason to be excited for 2012:
Bioshock Infinite (360/PS3/PC)
Perhaps my most anticipated game this year, it all looks and sounds very promising.
Mass Effect 3 (360/PS3/PC)
The closing chapter (though certainly not the last ME game) of the trilogy. In a series of choices and the ramifications of those choices, how then will this one wrap it all up?
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (XBLA/PSN)
This is my personal favourite fighting series, so to finally get the expansion that arcades in Japan have had for so long is a godsend. New characters, new arenas, new modes, new moves, more items to unlock. And it's a standalone download release so expect it to be budget priced. Don't even care if it's full price, I want this game.
Gravity Daze (PSV)
If you look at the Playstation Vita you'll mostly see a lineup of sequels or remakes to long standing IP's. That's fine, but I always found the best handheld games are those that were newly introduced IP's, an original concept and could only ever be done on a handheld (e.g. The World Ends With You). Gravity Daze looks to be the best example of that yet. Created by the mind behind Silent Hill, it looks to be an action-adventure game with an interesting mechanic, the manipulation of gravity for navigation and in combat. It looks gorgeous too, really nice art style. Definately one to keep an eye out for.
Devil May Cry HD Collection (360/PS3)
Ok so it's not a new game by any means, but to have all 3 games, given the HD treatment and with new content added in and achievements? I'm excited.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 (360/PS3)
While people were left burned from the direction that FFXIII took, the sequel looks set to appeal more to JRPG fans by bringing features into the sequel that people were expecting already. Towns, NPC's, mini games, multiple endings and generally more freedom to tackle the game as you see fit rather than running in corridors. It sounds like a traditional JRPG at this point, but I'm cool with that. If I can get all of that on top of the battle system (one of the best I've played in any JRPG) and the freedom to explore XIII's beautiful world then count me in.
That's all I have for the moment. But I will update the thread with more games as time goes on. But I'd like to see other people post what's on their wishlist too!!
