Title: Embers from the Campfire [My One and Only (SayaIshi Graduation Special)]
Post by: rokun on April 02, 2010, 07:24:07 AM
*gasp* I can't believe I'm finally doing it. I'm opening a one-shot thread... Don't hate me if the stuff I post here isn't any good though. I don't really fancy myself a one-shot writer. Anyway, this is a little story that was partly inspired by Essy, and I'm happy to get out for her birthday even if it's a day or two late. ^^;; I hope you guys enjoy~

First Ember: I Love You

Reina dropped her bag on top of the side table in the foyer, sighing in weariness as she walked straight as an arrow to the living room couch and dropped into it like a rock. A small, petite rock. With some strangely girlish and cat-like features. Anyway. Some of her friends from work had invited her to an izakaya for the night, but she passed, instead wanting to sit here and do nothing, veg, and maybe watch some music shows to stare at the cute boys.

Flipping on the large, flat television mounted to the wall, she went through the network channels to find only a few anime and news programs on. She checked her watch, and seeing it said just after six sighed again, knowing nothing good would be on for almost another hour.

“I suppose I could fix some dinner…” She mumbled to the television. A few minutes passed. “I should probably change into something more comfortable…” she said again, still staring at the moving pictures. Of course, she didn’t move to actually do something like that, since it would actually require effort on her part. “Nah,” she followed up, a coy smile coming to her lips. “I’ll make Aichan undress me when she gets home. That sounds like a much better idea.” Pleased with herself, she laid back on the couch to stare at the anime she’d found. At least it was one featuring songs by some of her friends.

“Reina! I’m home!” a voice called as the door opened again to admit the woman she’d been living with for a few years now, the woman who, despite what had been very specific plans for her future, had made her fall in love with her.

“I hope you brought dinner,” Reina called back to her without moving from the couch as she scratched her belly idly. “Otherwise it’s gonna be late since you’ll have to make it.”

“Hello to you too, dear,” Ai said with a smile as she reached the couch, bending over to give Reina a quick kiss before taking some groceries into the kitchen. “You have a choice of rice with cod, rice with red snapper, or rice with sea bream.”

“If there’s broccoli and mushrooms to go with it, you could serve me cat chow,” Reina replied, flipping to another channel in anticipation of the seven o’clock shows starting. The news host was going over the weather; it looked like it was going to be another hot and muggy day tomorrow.

Pulling her slim frame together to rise from the sofa, she sauntered over to the window and widened the curtains to glance out at the city from their mansion apartment in building two of Roppongi Hills. The late-day sun glinted off Tokyo Tower what seemed like just a short distance away. There were a few clouds in the sky, but nothing that’d bring relief from the heat. Of course, their apartment was perfectly air-conditioned, so she didn’t feel the heat at the moment. Yet another reason why she didn’t want to go out tonight.

As if reading her mind like the damned woman always seemed to do, she heard Ai call from the kitchen, “Weren’t you going to go out with Eri and Haruna-chan tonight? I remember you saying something about that the other day.”

“Didn’t feel like it,” Reina replied shortly. “Besides, if I stay here I can just spend the evening with you.” A sly grin formed on her lips. “That is, unless you have plans.”

Ai’s head peeped around the corner of the wall with a peevish expression. “Not funny,” she replied with a pouty twist to her mouth.

“Well you never know,” Reina said, walking to the kitchen to wrap her arms around the girl’s waist and rest her head on her shoulder to peer over it. “One of these days you might decide to get a life.”

That earned her a lazy swat to the nose.

A couple hours later, Reina’s stomach happily full of fish and stemmy vegetables, she found herself sitting on the sofa with Ai’s feet in her lap while she tried her best to hold them still to paint the toenails as the girl played one of her video games.

“You really need to pay more attention to your looks,” Reina advised her for what seemed like the millionth time. “You may not be an idol anymore, but you’re still in front of people all the time! Looking fashionable is part of your job!”

“You’re right, Reina,” Ai said distractedly. “I should.” Suddenly, her fingers started furiously jamming on the controller’s buttons and she tried to sit up better, het feet slipping out of Reina’s grasp. “Aha! Take that! That’s what you get for not being able to see through my super stealth mode!”

Reina threw up her hands in exasperation. “All right! Go sing with ugly feet! It’s no sweat off my back if you have ugly feet and get fired for having only seven properly painted toes. Reina can take care of herself.” She bounced up from the sofa to head to the bedroom. “I’m gonna go to bed since I have a long day tomorrow. Don’t forget to turn the speakers off when you’re done.”

“Reina, wait!” Ai called after her, and Reina heard the booming sound abruptly cut off. Before she made it to the bedroom she found herself caught around the waist and held fast. The woman could sure move quickly when she wanted to.

“I’m sorry,” Ai said next to her ear. “You know how little patience I have for things like that. I’d forget to tie my shoes in the morning if I didn’t have you looking after me.”

Reina sighed. “I know…” When she felt the woman pull her small frame back tighter against herself, she tried to let herself relax.

“So you have a long day tomorrow, huh?” Ai said, a bit more softly and gently this time, into her ear.

“Mhm,” Reina replied, submitting to the other’s control. “I have to go over notes in preparation for my trip to Guam next week, and have a third-level magazine photo shoot too.”

“I forgot you were leaving next week…” Ai bemoaned, tracing figures around her stomach after having stealthily slipped her hand beneath Reina’s shirt. She sounded disappointed. Reina almost felt bad at hearing it in her tone, but she was not the type of girl who’d let herself succumb to something like that. “I’ll miss you.”

“No you won’t,” Reina replied bluntly. “You’ll just take the chance to play your video games all week, or read that big thick book I saw you buy the other day – yes, don’t pretend like you think I didn’t notice that.”

“You’re probably right,” Ai responded. Reina could hear the amused smile in her tone. “I guess that means I’ll have to make use of you while you’re still around.”

“You’ll let me finish painting your toenails?” Reina asked, glancing at a slight angle back toward the shoulder Ai hovered over.

“Actually…” Ai replied. “I have a better idea how to spend this time. Especially since you have a long day tomorrow.” Reina’s body twitched as she felt Ai’s lips nibble at her ear, and the woman began prodding her along toward the bedroom, her legs lock-stepping pressed up behind her own as they wobbled forward.

“But… Ai-chan…” Reina protested, rapidly losing control of herself as her lover stimulated her in all the right spots she knew so well. “Your game. If we leave it on all night it’ll waste all kinds of power.”

“Forget the game,” Ai murmured directly into her ear as she licked at it while they crossed the threshold to the bedroom. “I’m about to beat this boss, so it’s nothing we need to worry about.”

Reina definitely was not worried about it, and even though she realized that, despite her words of recommendation to Reina, by Ai’s other words she had certainly not forgotten about it and was probably thinking about an upcoming battle at the same time she was pleasuring Reina, the woman was so good at what she did that it made little difference. Her last thought was that once again, she hadn’t even showered yet tonight.

The next morning Reina woke to the alarm clock going off beside her head, and she grumpily slapped her hand in that direction, groping around until she found the button to turn it off. Sitting up groggily, she glanced over to see Ai tangled in the sheets with one knee bent in what looked a very awkward position, the silkiness of the sheet’s high thread count accentuating every curve of the, in Reina’s opinion at least, perfectly formed body beneath it. The thin nightshirt she’d thrown on in exhaustion after they were done was hardly enough to hide what lay below.

Since Reina was usually the one up first, Ai had gotten used to sleeping through the alarm. Normally one would think that’d cause a problem for later when she had to get up herself, but for some reason it seemed that when Reina no longer lay beside her she just couldn’t sleep as well for much longer and managed to be up when she needed to be.

Stumbling around in the room, due only to her own morning unsteadiness since the western wall, completely glass behind its massive curtain, let in plenty of light for her to see what she was doing, she managed to pick out a few clothes and make it to the bathroom, where she finally got that shower she’d missed last night. It was too bad she didn’t have time for a bath in the mornings, but she figured she had efficient enough other means of stress relief that she could get by.

After finally getting dressed and heading out of the bedroom with Ai of course still sleeping soundly, only with the other knee bent by this point, Reina blinked when she noticed the darkened screen of Ai’s game paused on the television. She made a move toward it to turn it off since it’d killed enough trees being on so long already, but halfway there she halted, staring at the paused screen before her and somehow remembering Ai’s comment last night about having nearly killed some boss or something. Sighing, she headed to the foyer and lifted her purse to sling over her shoulder before quietly exiting the apartment in the direction of the elevator that would be the first step toward the train to work.

“Tanaka-san!” her agent called as he peeked through the door to the studio where she was leafing through pages of the pictures she’d been posing for all day. “You have a phone call.”

“I’m busy,” she said offhandedly, raising a hand as if to wave him away. “Who is it?”

“I apologize, Tanaka-san,” her agent said, bowing. “It’s Takahashi-san.”

Staring hard at one particular photo that she felt lacked a certain ‘Reina’ flair, she bit her lip lightly in frustration and made a checkmark beside it before setting the papers down. “All right,” she said, and headed his direction.

“Hello,” she greeted as she walked down the hall, peering out the windows lazily at the faces of the buildings across from the studio.

“Hi!” Ai greeted on the other end. “How’s work today?”

“Horrible,” Reina replied. “This photographer doesn’t know how to work with a stylish idol such as myself, and so too many of the pictures are coming out all wrong. It might take all day before he gets a set worth mine and my fans’ time.”

She thought she heard a soft laugh from the other end, and Ai replied, “I’m sure you’ll whip them into shape and be home early for dinner.” Reina sighed. Since she’d left the idol business, the woman really had no clue any more what her life was like… Then again, she really hadn’t any clue then either. Images of the horrible dresses and combinations of things Ai used to wear suddenly bloomed in Reina’s mind, and she shuddered. It was a good thing she had Reina to take care of her now.

“I’ve been thinking,” Ai said. “It’s your birthday tomorrow, so I thought we could go to the Shangri-La for dinner, and maybe shop around Ginza a bit before we eat. It’d also be a good way to send you off to Guam.”

Reina stumbled as her feet crossed, almost tripping. She’d forgotten it was her birthday tomorrow! She never forgot something like that about herself, and couldn’t imagine how she’d done it now. It was this stupid Guam trip. Between excitement and trepidation – and the prospect of being alone and away from Ai for the week – it must have slipped her mind.

“Of course,” Reina said, smoothly covering up her un-Reina-like neglect of things concerning herself. “It sounds like a nice evening.” She stopped in the hall, looking around to see no one around her before skulking to a corner and crouching into it to murmur softly into the phone, “…I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too,” Ai said cheerfully, but with sincerity in her voice as well. “No video game or big, fat book could ever be as good as you, you know.”

“It better not be…” Reina reinforced darkly.

She heard a soft giggle on the other side of the line. “Well, I have to get back to rehearsal, though it doesn’t look like we’ll be needed here for too much longer.”

“All right,” Reina replied. “Just remember to have dinner ready when I get home. Though I’m not sure I’ll even get home if this moronic photographer doesn’t learn how to do his job.”

“It’ll be ready when you are,” Ai replied, and Reina could sense that smile again. “By the way,” she continued, almost offhandedly. “Thanks for leaving the game on. I know how hard that must have been for you.” Reina sighed again. The woman was hopeless. “I love you.”

Just as Reina was about to give her response, she heard the click as Ai ended the call. She stared at nothing down the hallway as the nearly-formed words rested just at her lips. “I love you too…” she murmured, crouching there a moment longer before flipping her phone shut and straightening to head back down the hall to her photos.

*squees in pure, unadulterated joy*

Domestic ReinAi!  :k-thrilled:

I like how they're both basically taking care of each other as they live together. :D Both of them learning to put up with each other's quirks, though since this is from Reina's POV, she does seem to be giving in a lot to Ai's habits. XD

I find it adorable how Reina can be totally self-centered while being sensitive to her other half at the same time. It's amazing, but hey, that's who Reina is! I personally liked that little snark about Ai getting fired because of having only 7 properly painted toenails  Trust Reina to be particular about this sort of thing! Which also reminds me of that one time for some performance when Ai managed to get 9 of 10 fingernails painted red, but accidentally painted one black. XD If nothing else, it just proves she does need someone to keep her in line. Hehe.

...you know, it suddenly occurred to me that they'll need to change the bedsheets. Ai's toenails aren't even dry as it is. XD That'll leave some interesting stains...heh. Not to mention their, ahem, activity. :P

I also like how you dealt with Aichan's obliviousness. So aware and not at the same time. :D I guess she has her own set of priorities, just like Reina has her own. Good thing they can agree that the other is definitely No.1 on their list of priorities. :D So heartwarming.

I truly love this pairing.   Thanks for dedicating this for my birthday! :D And I hope we'll see more ReinAi one shots populating this thread some time in the future! :D :D :D

It's happened... A rokun oneshot thread...

And starting off with a totally cute RenAi, though the end kinda made me cock my head to the side, I'm not sure if you intended that to be a little sad or not, but the way Ai didn't wait for a response kind of made me twitch. Over all, I think you've captured the domestic bliss of the pair very well. And you said you weren't good at oneshots.

^I think the way it ended felt realistic. It's something Ai would do, and it kinda reflects on the way these two work, as well as the realities of adult life.

I guess though, there are two ways of interpreting it. XD Ai could be certain of Reina's response, though not sensitive to the fact that Reina wants to say it back as well? There's a definite sense of life going on between them. :D

Well, maybe Ai just knew that because Reina was at work, she really shouldn't be saying stuff like that where someone might overhear? XD

I love how you make Reina scratch her tummy, for some reason I find that uber adorable. :panic: I also like how Reina kind of likes to boss Ai around, but is sort of sweet in her own rude way. <3

Nice one shot! Love the ReinAi. :thumbsup Write moarrrr. :heart: Sorry for my lack of good comment-ness, I'm tired. XD;

One-shot thread by rokun  :shocked  :w00t:
A one-shot thread by a ReinAi writer is welcome in my books anytime, especially someone like rokun's  :D

Love the domestic setting of this particular one-shot (other than that it has ReinAi in it :D). I especially liked the way they balance each other out very nicely, they each seem to be absorbed in their own routines yet they find a way to complement each other and prioritise each other no matter what (if that made sense). It was especially adorable in that bit where it mentions Aichan not being able to sleep as well without Reina by her side
My ever-swinging pendulum between TanaKame and ReinAi is not helped when my inner TanaKameist fights the sweetness of a domestic ReinAi with a one-shot like this

Wow, thanks everyone who's read this! :D I'm glad so many people enjoyed it.

And this is why I didn't feel confident about one-shots, because you the readers react to things differently than how i would expect with full fics, such as Reina's "I love you" at the end. How I thought of it was that, partly like Essy suggested, Ai is certain of Reina's response since, by what the rest of the story shows, neither of them have any doubt of their love for each other. It really does mean to depict an established "married" couple in that respect. Along that track at the same time, Reina's not disheartened that Ai didn't give her time to say it back since Reina too is sure that Ai knows it anyway. She just enjoys saying the words as a comfort and statement of herself, even if no one's listening. It's shown that Reina's not bothered by it with how she afterward just calmly closes her phone and goes back to work.

This really is intended to be domestic, completely angst-free ReinAi in the strongest sense. You don't need to always try to inject some angst into where it doesn't exist XD (although I'd imagine it's expected, with who the story's coming from after all :P)

Anyway, no concrete plans to write more ReinAi one-shots in the near future, but I'm sure some will pop up to satisfy the forum's need for it. :) Next actually I've planned something as a bit of a gift to ayase and maybe others who would like to see a little MiyAiri...

Post by: rokun on August 05, 2010, 10:57:30 PM
Well... better late than never, ne? Still, delivery as promised. I wonder what you'll surprise me with about this. :)

"Buono! Forever"

“Do you think this will be our last concert?” a girl asked the shadowy figure in the dark next to her as the staff assisted them in changing for the encore. They’d just run off stage after their last number, and were changing into special outfits composed of tight denim shorts with specially designed and printed t-shirts for just this occasion, red for herself and green for the other.

“I don’t know,” the younger responded. “I hope not. I’ve hardly had more fun than when performing with you two.” The third girl was already changed and over talking with the stage manager about tips for the special improv in the encore.

“There’s always Aa!” the first suggested, and they began to hear the first chants through the curtains of “Buono! Saikou!”

“But…” Airi said, a hint of a whine in her voice now, “Momo…”

“Meh,” Miyabi replied, switching her mic between hands as she adjusted her outfit in preparation for going back out. “Don’t worry about Momo. She has enough solo activities going on. She’ll be fine.”

She glanced over to see Airi with her cute pouty face and twin tails shadowed in the back lighting. Suddenly the girl lunged at Miyabi, who jumped as she was enveloped in a tight hug, the girl’s mic carelessly digging into her back.

“Airi!” she gasped, scandalized, aware of the staff standing all around them.

The younger girl pulled back to look into Miyabi’s face, tears welling in her eyes. “I’ll miss Buono!” she whined pitifully.

Miyabi shushed her with a finger to her lips. “Hey,” she scolded. “We don’t even know if it’s over yet. And don’t cry! You’ll ruin your eyeliner.”

Airi nodded, though still made whining noises in her throat as she began pulling away.

“Hey you two!” Momoko crowed, already in position to head back on stage. “Get over here! It’s time for the encore!”

Miyabi rolled her eyes, but took Airi’s hand and dragged her next to the leader. Momoko eyed the two girls suspiciously, and Miyabi made sure to let go of her companion’s hand before they walked on stage. More oddly though, Airi seemed reluctant to let go.

“Otsukaresama deshita!!” the staff congratulated them after they ran off stage for the final time, their new shirts now drenched in sweat as well. The girls repeated it, gratefully exchanging their mics for the proffered towels and drying themselves as they headed back to the dressing rooms. Momoko and Miyabi stopped to act silly in front of the behind-the-scenes camera, and eventually Airi popped up in front of them, causing them to scold her to get out of the way. Momoko eventually just tried pushing her out of the way, but Miyabi felt she was too cool for something like that and just rolled her eyes before walking away.

She’d noticed that Airi still had tears in her eyes after almost bursting out crying during their ending introductions, and wondered if the fans knew the true reason for it. She was honestly a little concerned for the girl herself.

She didn’t have too much time to silently ponder though since Airi soon popped up next to her, grabbing her arm and directing her quietly toward a different passage than where she had been heading back to their communal dressing room.

“Where are we going?” Miyabi asked, peering around her and now really beginning to worry about the girl, who had a determined look on her sweat and tear-streaked face now.

“I think I remember seeing…” Airi murmured after a moment as they passed by some staff confused at why they were heading this way, yet of course not questioning them. They would wonder and question soon if Airi took them somewhere that caused them to be late for the after-show meeting which would be starting in only a few minutes. “Ah yes! There it is!” she burst out after they turned a corner.

Miyabi couldn’t see what was so remarkable about yet another backstage hallway, but Airi took them to one of the doors along the side and tried the knob, her face bubbling with glee when it turned and she pushed it open. “While wandering around once I found this room that seems to always be unlocked for some reason,” she explained, and flipped on the light to show another empty dressing room. “Maybe the lock’s broken,” she pondered, peering down at the knob again as she closed the door behind them.

“That’s… nice and all Airin, but… why exactly are we here?” Miyabi asked, still confused, before tossing her towel onto the counter.

Airi tossed her own on top of Miyabi’s, and walked over to stand in front of her, taking her hands in both of her own. “We’re here so we could be alone,” Airi replied, peering into her eyes. Miyabi felt her face heat, her anxiety now increasing every moment, but said nothing, so Airi continued, “Miya, I… I want to know everything’s gonna be all right.”

“What?” Miyabi replied, still clueless and yet somehow relieved as well. “Why? Is something wrong?”

“Just…” Airi replied, looking down at her hands fidgeting with Miyabi’s own, “If there’s no more Buono! I’d be scared, Miya. °C-ute keeps changing… Even Aa! is getting shuffled around with everything else. Buono! was the only thing consistent for me these past few years, and if I lost even that, I… I just don’t know what I’d do…!”

The girl had started to talk faster and more desperately as she rambled on, almost quicker than Miyabi’s ability to comprehend, and when she was done Miyabi reached to clutch her upper arms tightly. “Airi… listen!” she said, stumbling over her words. Why on earth was the girl coming to her about this? She was like the worst person for giving comfort to people. In fact, usually she had just the opposite effect. “First of all, Buono! isn’t going anywhere, all right!? If it was, we’d have announced it in the concert. Second, even if it did, you would be far from the one I’d worry about being all right. You’re so strong… stronger than me, that’s for sure. I’m just a brainless, ditsy girl.”

“But that’s the thing,” Airi said, looking back up to Miyabi’s face, and to her horror she realized the girl was crying again. “I’m worried about you too! And Momo… and everyone…! What about the band!?”

“They’ll be fine,” Miyabi replied, now trying to look for a way out as she felt she was almost past her comforting limit. “They’re strong too. You know Momo’s happy doing things on her own. As for me, well… We still have each other, right? Like I said before, for now we have Buono!. We still have Aa!. Plus you have °C-ute, I have Berryz…”

“I’ll still miss you…” Airi whined, and Miyabi knew she couldn’t refute that it definitely looked like, barring new Buono! releases, they wouldn’t be spending as much time with each other. “Just tell me it’ll be all right…”

Then, fatefully and with an urge that Miyabi at any other time would have wondered what the hell she was thinking, as she looked back into those desperate eyes the distance between them began to close. Her next sensation was of her lips pressed tightly against Airi’s as she held the girl against her, first with her grip on her arms and then as her arms slipped around her slim body. Soon they were intensely making out, Miyabi with her unleashed desire and Airi with her desperation and need to feel that intimacy.

After a time their lips at least parted, and they touched foreheads as they breathed heavily, still holding each other close.

“I…” Miyabi panted, feeling the other girl’s breath hot on her face as well. It was very moist, as the kiss had been considering they just finished a concert and the girl had just been crying. She wasn’t crying any more. “I’m sorry about that…”

Airi just kept breathing, leaving a response hanging in the heat radiating between them.

“A-hem…” came a voice from the door, and the two girls sprang apart, though they still held both hands. Momo stood with her arms crossed, giving them both a birdlike stare, and the two girls exchanged glances.

“Momo!” Miyabi croaked, clearing her own throat so she could speak acceptably. “This… this isn’t what it looks like…” Airi gave her a glance, but then nodded insistently back toward their leader.

Momoko continued just staring at them, making them sweat even more, until a grin suddenly split her face. “But Airi-chan… I thought you loved me?”

Two mouths dropped open.

Miyabi turned a wide-eyed look onto the younger girl, and Airi stammered out, “I d-do love you, Momo,” Airi said. Something odd about the tone of her voice made Miyabi turn back to Momoko, who was now obviously about to burst out giggling.

“Well I’m just glad to see Buono! is… closer than ever now,” she commented, her voice heavy with sarcasm.

Airi still seemed to be recovering from the previous question, but Miyabi suddenly understood, and she gave a long sigh. “You’re never going to let us live this down, are you?”

Airi turned back to her, as confused as ever, but she suddenly seemed to understand too. The girl’s emotions might have overwhelmed her at first, but she generally was very quick to pick up on things.

“Nope,” Momoko replied, now letting her arms fall to her sides, though when she began giggling she lifted a hand once again to cover her mouth.

Miyabi gave her a flat stare. “Just in case there’s any truth to what you asked, though…” she growled in a low, dangerous voice, and turned back to Airi blinking at her before pulling her tight and kissing her once again, this time visibly more roughly for a better show.

“Ewww~!” Momoko screeched, and Miyabi let the girl in her arms go. “Get a room, you two!!”

Managing to somehow catch her breath quickly, Airi turned to Momo and let her head fall onto Miyabi’s chest as she hugged her close. “We had one,” she chimed, her big smile brightening up her face.

Miyabi realized that the girl now seemed quite content to stay exactly where she was in her arms, and she took a deep breath. “She was… worried about us drifting apart and feeling lonely,” she explained, patting at the knot of one of Airi’s ponytails as the girl contently played with the back hem of her shirt.

“Uh huh,” Momoko said skeptically, still eyeing them suspiciously as if they might start making out again at any moment. “And then she just happened to trip and fall on your lips? Or did that just seem a creative solution?”

She heard Airi giggle softly at her chest.

“Well then,” Momoko continued, adopting an official-looking pose. “As leader of Buono! I suppose it’s my job then to protect you and see that you don’t get into trouble if you decide to continue to have your little… fun.” She grinned as she said that last word, but Miyabi noted there was also a playful twist of disgust to the edge of it.

Airi looked up from Miyabi’s chest, Miyabi instantly regretting the loss of warmth which had begun to feel quite cozy, and peered over to Momoko. “Really? Then no matter what happens you’ll have to keep watching over us.”

“Yep!” Momoko said, smiling. “Momo will always be leader of Buono! you know.” Then she turned to pull the door open, but before slipping out, she twisted her head back toward them. “By the way, we’re late for the staff meeting.” And then she was gone.

Miyabi stared after her as the door swung slowly shut, and when she turned back to the girl in her arms, she saw Airi beaming cutely up at her. It was the classic Airi look, but it appeared different to her now since what overrode all other impression of it was the idea of how delicious she now knew it was to kiss those soft lips.

“If we’re already late, I guess a few more minutes wouldn’t make a difference… would it?” Airi asked, raising her eyebrows to give that cute puppy-eyed pleading expression once again.

“I guess not…” Miyabi replied, envious at the girl’s talent for cuteness since she thought she herself was always too plain and fumbling with her words and expressions. After another long minute of kissing Airi thoroughly though, she pulled back and noticed the adoration in her eyes. Apparently she was doing something right.

Thank you, Momo… she thought, before capturing Airi’s lips just one more time.

Ara, so cute! :D I approve of Miya x Airi!

And Momo-snarkiness is much love. XD

Sorry about the lack of coherent comment. You know I only just got 3 hours of sleep. @_@

I don't think I was aware that you had a one-shot thread. I'm only used to your epics

I don't follow Buono that well but I like the unit. Plz don't tell me they're really coming to an end! (I fail at current events)

But Miya x Airi was really cute, especially with a somewhat paranoid Airi.  I almost thought Momo was gonna get in on that too. XD

So cute! I'm not actually a fan of MiyaAiri, though I have nothing against them, so this was a good read. And Momoko steals the show, just like real life, I guess. I had also forgotten this thread was here

You forgot me? I'm sad.

As for Buono!, no, they're not officially coming to an end yet. There's a lot of speculation though with no new single, Shugo Chara having ended, and the Best album coming up. I personally don't know, but they have their Rock N Buono 3 concert this weekend (when this fic is set), and I'm afraid there might be an announcement of some kind at it. Whether it's the disbanding of Buono! (which I hope not), or a new single announcement, we might know more by next week. ^^; (Tuesday is the last concert)

That... is where the setting of this fic came from. Of course, I started writing it just cause I wanted to do something MiyAiri. ;) The setting and timing just happened to be convenient.

For Buono! I think they will end soon with or without an announcement, but I'm hoping for a single or something

I love Great Leader Momo! This fic was sweet even though I'm not much of a MiyaxAiri fan. Poor Airi though, if Buono! ends. Since at least Miya and Momo are still in Berryz together while she's in C-ute.

Personally, I think the ending is exactly what Airi was hoping to achieve, hence getting a room and only asking Miyabi to go with her. If she were just worried about Buono! as a whole then she should have invited Momo to the talk too, especially since Momo is the leader.

More fic, Rokun! 19 daaaaysssss.

Wow, this feels like a big moment for me! As those I talk to regularly know, this has been a long time coming, and well... I hope you guys enjoy all of it as much as I hope you do. :)

“Suki Yo, Captain”

Like flat little soldiers raging in battle, in rows stretched high on lines across the balcony, the wash danced violently in the wind as Saki stared at it all through her bedroom window. She sat quietly at her desk, occasionally tapping a pencil to her chin absent-mindedly over the near-forgotten sheets of music laid out on the surface before her.

Watching the clothes wave now like flags high above a ship engaged in battle over the roiling sea, she sighed. She knew she should really pull them down before they get soaked in the storm that was sure to hit at any moment, but they were fastened tightly to the lines, and once the rain was over they’d eventually dry again anyway. Despite anything her mother might tell her to the contrary. Her clothes might smell funny or be a bit wrinkly as a result, but she wasn’t as concerned about her fashionable appearance as others she knew.

That thought sent her mind a-whirl again, and as the pitter-patter of rain began echoing against the window in front of her, her thoughts drifted off into the world of dreams.

“If you were on a deserted island,” Saki asked the person she held beneath the blankets in the dark, feeling completely relaxed and at ease in the safety of the embrace. “What one thing would you have with you?”

“Why, you of course,” She responded, giving Saki a smile and a light kiss on the nose. Her nose wrinkled at the soft touch.

“Besides me, silly,” Saki teased, poking the girl in her tender side. “I never even considered that we wouldn’t be there together.”

The other grinned. “Well let’s see… I guess it would have to be my hairbrush.”

Saki rolled her eyes. She shouldn’t have expected anything else. But then she smiled in the dark at the girl she held. “Why does that not surprise me?” she asked, echoing her thoughts.

“Well if you’re there,” the girl replied. “I couldn’t stand it if I didn’t look my best.” At that Saki felt herself blush, but it soon faded at just the wonder of being with the girl she loved so much, and who she never wanted to leave again.

“Anyway,” the girl said, and Saki drew a breath at the mischievous glint in her eye. “I think that’s enough talk, don’t you?”

Saki soon regretted not taking the breath a moment ago as the girl slid down against her body to disappear beneath the covers. In what seemed like no time Saki felt her body tremble at what the girl was doing to her. “I… uh…” She’d somehow lost the power to form cohesive words, her eyes rolling slightly back into her head.

“You huh?” the girl asked innocently, snaking up her sweat-slickened body to reappear again close to her face, licking her lips deliberately. “Did you want to say something to me?” Her voice was like the sweetest honey… though the kind that would also quickly poison you and leave you helpless to resist her wanton seductions.

“I…” Saki tried to begin again, but found herself lost in the dark pools of brown she stared into.

The girl smiled that soft, secretive, knowing smile of hers. “Suki yo, Captain,” she told her in a slow, breathy whisper. Those words, spoken with both the utmost intimacy and respect, sealed the love between them. Hearing those words, Saki knew they would be together forever.

When their lips met, her mind once more became a whirlpool.

Feeling herself tossed ‘round and round, Saki moaned as she fought against the current, the waves seeming to crash around her even though she didn’t even know whether she was going up or down.

“No…” she moaned. “She loves me, I know it…”

And the next moment, the vortex faded into a muted howling of wind and rain assaulting glass, and she lifted her head from the desk to blink groggily into the darkness. As she began reorienting herself, she realized she couldn’t even see the wash through the wall of water now pummeling the balcony outside her bedroom. She glanced quickly at her bedside clock to see it read 1:38, and groaned at the papers in front of her that she now knew were impossible to finish memorizing by the time she had to catch the train at 5:45 in the morning.

“Some example I’m being…” she mumbled. She’d barely settled into working full-time after graduating high school. Maybe she should have taken her friends’ advice and gone on to college with Momo. She had the scores for it, with even a glowing recommendation from her math teacher. It was only a thought though. She knew that what she truly wanted lay elsewhere.

Packing the papers neatly together, she quickly changed into her pajamas and wrapped herself tightly within her covers, gazing once more out into the storm though she only distantly heard the thunder now. What an ill-omened night before the day she had planned for tomorrow – the day that she knew one way or another would change her life. The neglected music now seemed unimportant as she ran plans for the coming day through her mind one more time, though the rain dampened her spirits. Eventually, with a heart that seemed to keep becoming heavier, she drifted off into a disappointingly dreamless sleep.

Miyabi pushed herself, trying to keep up with the two smaller girls she always made it her mission to compete with in learning a new dance. Singing had always been her strong point, but she was quietly proud how far she’d come with dancing recently as a result of experience like she obtained from Buono!. Especially this year, as she finished her last year of school, she’d even begun receiving compliments from the other members at how well she moved.

The compliments she took to heart the most though were from the other Buono! members, as well as their Captain, since she admired their abilities the most. Airin actually claimed recently that Miyabi had surpassed her, and for the first time Miyabi felt the girl really believed it. She of course had calmly denied the claim.

As she twisted and jumped and twirled to the end of the dance, she felt her muscles ache slightly in exertion and did her best to catch her breath. The girls she’d been scrutinizing relaxed easily and began giving their “arigato gozaimashita!”’s with barely a hint of exertion except a few beads of sweat on Saki’s brow, and Miyabi once again felt envious. However much she improved, she still did not have the endurance of their tiny bodies, even if she did notice Saki had slight shadows beneath her eyes today.

After saying something to Momoko that sent them both into soft giggling, Saki turned to Miyabi and walked over to her, dabbing at her forehead with a purple Mickey towel Miyabi felt envious of.

“Is it okay to meet up just outside the first-floor elevator when we’re ready to go?” Saki asked. Miyabi nodded as she stretched, knowing Saki would need to meet with their managers before being done for the day.

“I wish you’d tell me where we were going though,” Miyabi growled softly. “I won’t know how to dress otherwise.”

The other girl grinned. “I think you should for once not worry about what you are going to wear, Miya.” She playfully batted at Miyabi’s shoulder. Miyabi frowned at the sparkle that also lit up the others’ eyes.

“But if I don’t know where we’re going, I’ll feel like a foo—”

She couldn’t finish though as she was interrupted by Saki pressing a finger to her lips. “Hi~mi~tsu!” the girl chimed, and danced away, not losing one whit of that sparkle.

Miyabi grunted. “You’d think, after all these years, she’d know how I feel about wearing the right clothes…” she grumbled under her breath.

“What was that, Miya?” Chinami asked, coming up with her own towel to join her in the walk to the locker room.

“Nothing,” Miyabi told her in a sour voice, and Chinami shrugged as they made their way out of the studio.

Waiting patiently in front of the elevator, Miyabi tugged her dark wool cap further down toward her sunglasses and readjusted the bag on her shoulder. She knew she’d have to wait a bit for Saki, but her impatience still rose in an urge to get out of the building. Since the older girl wasn’t forthcoming with information about their outing, she decided to go the middling route of the three outfit types she always carried to work for any potential occasion – a rock-style tee with English lettering beneath her leather jacket, and a short patterned skirt from 109’s ~one spo~. If Saki wanted to take her someplace this wouldn’t work… well… the threat of the leather would give plenty of warning that she could just beat her up!

After a few minutes and seeing other staff come down the elevator to leave for the day as well, Miyabi glanced back at yet another -ding- to see Saki step out in a cute red and white striped sweater over belted denim shorts. Thankful the other girl’s style fit hers well enough, Miyabi fell into step with her as they headed to exit the building, Saki beaming back at her.

“You gonna tell me where we’re going yet?” Miyabi asked, but Saki’s smile just widened, and with a roll of her eyes in response to the smile, they walked on.

It turned out that Saki took her to a moderate-level, trendy izakaya nestled among the towers in Shinjuku. They chattered about the day’s rehearsal, and Miyabi felt only slight surprise when Saki ordered warm sake for the both of them. As usual, the server didn’t question their ages.

After a while, when they had moved on to dessert cocktails, Miyabi was definitely feeling warm, but also incredibly loose to where she quite enjoyed the dinner. She drank occasionally at izakaya or parties, but normally didn’t go out of her way for it.

Noticing Saki’s eyes focused on her face as she smiled behind the glass held at her lips, Miyabi took a sip of her own and asked, “What?”

The other girl lowered her hands slightly. “You look a little flushed, Miya. Maybe I shouldn’t have asked for that last glass?”

“I’m fine,” Miyabi replied, waving the comment away and taking another full gulp this time. She really was. She was in full control of her…

She jumped slightly in her seat, blinking down at the glass falling hard onto the table which had seemed to jump up to meet it. Was the table a few centimeters higher than just a minute ago? She slapped it, as if that’d help it return to its normal and appropriate size.

When she heard the other girl giggle, she pushed her glass away. “Yeah, I think that’s enough for me. I’m no lush like a certain Captain of mine.”

“Aww,” Saki replied, taking another sip. “Here I thought getting you drunk might make it easier to take advantage of you. Now I’ll have to do it the hard way~♪”

Miyabi blinked, not sure she heard the girl correctly. It’s just the sake talking… she told herself, and nodded firmly. Her vision swam a little at the sudden movement, though she knew from past experience the effect wouldn’t last too long.

Saki seemed incredibly amused by something though, and Miyabi thought she even caught a mischievous glimmer in her senpai’s eyes as she took another sip. Again Miyabi wondered how such a small girl like her could take so much sake. Maybe it was how fit she kept herself...

Miyabi blinked again. On second thought, how many drinks had Saki had? Obviously the sake, but after that she wasn’t completely sure the girl had received more than that one glass. That was ridiculous though; surely she had just as many as herself, and she knew she was on her third… or was it fourth?

Abruptly Saki set down her drink and picked up the check. “Well if you aren’t going to drink any more,” the girl said, “I guess it’s on to phase two, ne?”

“Phase two?” Miyabi asked. What was the girl talking about? Saki just smiled as she rose to head for the register.

“I hope you enjoyed the dinner?” Saki asked cheerfully and warmly as they walked down the busy evening street to gods knew where this time. Miyabi only had to put a bit more concentration than usual into walking, even though Saki held her arm tightly as if happy for the excuse. There was an odd tone to the girl’s voice – that warmth but an unusual softness as well – but Miyabi just attributed that to the amount of alcohol she must have had.

“Nn…” Miyabi responded affirmatively enough. “You didn’t have to pay for it, you know.”

“Well it was your birthday last week,” Saki replied.

Miyabi glanced over at her. “But you guys already threw me a party… got me plenty of gifts too. More than I needed.”

She saw the light smile touch the girl’s face again. “Yes, but I feel as Captain I should do something more special for you just by myself.” She left it uncertain whether she meant Miyabi specifically or included all the members in that duty. Without a thought, as Saki knew she would, Miyabi took it to mean everyone.

“You take everyone to such a nice place?” she mused. “The company must be paying you more than what I get.”

“Well I am Captain,” Saki responded indirectly, otherwise continuing to smile. Miyabi just nodded understandingly.

After another minute of walking she asked again, “So where are we going now?” She adjusted her arm that was in Saki’s firm grasp. Had the girl crept closer to her as they walked? It was hard to tell, even though her mind was beginning to clear.

“You’ll see,” Saki replied simply.

After rounding another corner, Saki led her to the entrance of a massage and bath house. Miyabi stared up at the sign. “You’re kidding me,” she said in disbelief. “First a full meal and now a massage? It seems I should have worked harder to become leader of Buono! and not spent so much time trying to actually improve my singing and dancing…”

Laughing, Saki pushed her toward the door and followed. “But you’ve learned to dance so well!” she heard from behind before being enveloped by the aromatic herbal scents of the parlour. “Besides, now you’re nice and relaxed after dinner it’s the best time for a massage.”

A short time later found her moaning into the towel her face was pressed tightly down onto. The massage had been going on for a good fifteen or twenty minutes, and already it felt like the best of her life. She didn’t know if it was the stress of work lately – it wasn’t school at least since she wasn’t really worried about entrance exams – or the skills of the masseuse who somehow seemed to put extra care into every little movement unlike any she’d ever had before, as if giving Miyabi Natsuyaki the most pleasurable experience ever was all that mattered.

She certainly didn’t mind. As her consciousness swam in the midst of the pleasing relaxation as well as the warmth of the drink from earlier, her narcissism bloomed up as if in a dream. Of course… Why shouldn’t I have the best of everything?

She hardly noticed when it was over, as it seemed to have gone on forever, but when she turned her head she saw Saki pulling on her yukata beside the other table while quietly observing her. She had to open her mouth a few times before her muscles could focus themselves enough again to produce sound, but she finally managed a raspy, “Are we done?”

Saki smiled and nodded. Despite her state, Miyabi was certain she saw the mischief dancing like twin flames in the girl’s eyes this time.

“Do you need help up?” Saki offered, and she went to take Miyabi’s arm, pulling her up to sit on the edge of the table as she tugged the towel around her. “The baths are this way when you’re ready.”

When Miyabi finally managed to make the trip to the baths, she paused at the edge of the steaming tank to inhale the various herbal aromas hanging in the air around them before slipping off her yukata and into the water after her companion.

Immediately her muscles relaxed once more, and she wasn’t sure if she’d ever be able to use them to make herself walk again. She felt a stir in the water beside her, but didn’t realize until she slitted her eyes and rolled her head that Saki had sidled up to her as she sat soaking on the ledge. Almost as if in a dream she felt the girl cuddle up to her side and an arm snake around her, moistened tender skin against moistened tender skin, hardly registering what was happening.

When Saki laid her head against her shoulder she heard her murmur softly, “Did you enjoy the massage?”

“It was wonderful…” Miyabi said, letting her eyes close again slowly in submission to the comfort surrounding her. “I’ll definitely have to try this place out again.”

She heard a soft giggle beside her ear. “I’m glad,” Saki responded. “I was worried since I’d never done it like that before, and so nervous, but I really tried hard to practice.”

“Mmm…?” Miyabi murmured, before the girl’s words sank in. Then she also suddenly realized consciously that they were in a bath, all their clothes back in the dressing room, with her Captain cuddled up to and basically now wrapped around her.

She felt herself flush so hard the water seemed to actually turn cold for a moment.

“Aaa…..” she began, but realized that despite her apprehension, her muscles couldn’t tense to match it at the moment to save her life. She halfway wondered if her life wasn’t really at stake.

Saki seemed to read her hesitation though, and to Miyabi’s increasing horror, the girl slid velvet-like around her body to straddle her as she sat, her arms hanging loosely around Miyabi’s shoulders and their bodies pressed very closely together.

“Did you…” Miyabi finally managed to get out, “Did you intend it to happen this way the whole time?” Her muscles still couldn’t tense, helpless to her senpai’s molding. However, she knew she could pull herself out of the situation if she really wanted to…

Suddenly her eyes widened as the other scandalizing realization fully hit her. “You…” She swallowed. “You were the one who gave me the massage, weren’t you?”

Saki’s smile bloomed across her face, only centimeters in front of Miyabi’s own, perhaps the only part of their bodies that wasn’t already touching. This, too, seemed calculated. Miyabi felt a voice within her mind laugh hysterically. What else to expect from someone so skilled at logic and arithmetic?

“I’ve wanted to do something like this for you for the longest time… but I was young, you were young… and I was so shy too.” She nodded almost imperceptibly at the question she saw in Miyabi’s eyes. “Yes,” she replied to it as if spoken. “I was shy. Plus, even though I felt we were close friends, you’re so popular with everyone. I was so scared of how you’d feel; if you even really noticed me.”

“Of course I noticed you, Captain,” Miyabi said gently, in disbelief, though not sure of what at this point. She felt like she was just drifting along for the ride wherever this shocking yet so far idyllic encounter led her.

Saki shook her head, almost imperceptibly as well. “I was young. I’m more confident now. I hope I’m more confident. I wanted to make this so wonderful, so perfect, that you couldn’t… you couldn’t…"

The two stared hard into each other’s eyes for a moment, and during that time Miyabi almost forgot about the small, warm body wrapped around her within the bubbling faux hot spring.

“Miya…” Saki said, so softly she could hardly be heard. Then, a bit stronger, “I love you…”

Thinking now that she’d already taken it this far, before Miyabi could respond she closed the last distance separating them and pressed their lips together.

Her eyes closed within the kiss as she enjoyed what she knew might be the only time she felt this since she was still uncertain of how the girl would respond, after a moment Saki pulled back. Almost not wanting to end the dream, she opened her lids to peer through long lashes into dark eyes that stared intensely back into her own. Her breath, still held from the kiss, still didn’t come. The intensity of that gaze was one of the reasons she had fallen in love with this girl, her kouhai and group mate for well over six years now.

She left her questions unspoken – Was this all right? Did I make things impossibly awkward? Do you hate me now? – and just stared back, trying to glean answers from those inscrutable features. As seconds dragged on, Miyabi didn’t respond.

When Saki was just about to push away and run and hide and cry in some corner, not caring if she found her clothes along the way or not, she felt a brush against her hips and realized for the first time Miyabi had begun to move… and was wrapping strong arms around her.

She felt a rush of air into her lungs before the girl pulled her back tightly against her, their lips crushing together and this time with hunger. This kiss lasted much longer, but before it could go too far she withdrew from it and grasped lightly the wrist of the other girl’s offending limb to pull it just away from touching her.

Miyabi now looked questioningly into her eyes, suddenly scared and worried herself, but Saki just smiled, her dream come true. “Not here,” she said, and leaned in to press another light, quick kiss onto the other’s lips.

Untwining her legs and sliding off of the other girl’s lap beneath the water, she crawled dripping over the edge and gave Miyabi a hand to help her up. Finally she let herself freely admire the other’s body, water cascading down it in rivulets and the bottom half of her extensions sticking to her back and arms. Miyabi didn’t even seem to notice she was naked.

A few minutes later they fidgeted in their yukata while waiting for the elevator, Miyabi having just learned that this bathhouse had hotel rooms as well… and that this elevator led to them. Saki had already reserved one.

“You know, it’s not right to have just expected to seduce me and get into my pants tonight,” Miyabi growled down to her, looking around nervously and lowering her head more, afraid that someone would notice what they were doing. Nobody was near at the moment though, and the few who did pass by seemed quite… engrossed in their own affairs. She’d never think of bathhouses the same way again. “I should just stamp my foot and storm out the door right now.”

“You’d have to find your clothes first,” Saki responded, amused. Miyabi had also learned just after the bath that Saki had apparently hidden them somewhere while preparing for the massage. “Unless you want to make that yukata into a new late-night street fashion statement. Besides, I felt pretty confident if I could just get you naked.”

Miyabi flushed deeply as the elevator dinged, though Saki tightened her hold on her hand. “You’re evil.”

A good while and much mutual enjoyment later, even though the two girls knew they had to return the room soon, they snuggled comfortably in each other’s arms beneath the sheets.

“I hope you had a nice birthday,” Saki commented tenderly, though a little nervously, adjusting to hug the girl tighter to herself. Her reasons for today were more than just a birthday gift.

Miyabi smiled, hugging Saki tighter as well. “I’d call it ‘nice’… among other things,” she responded, giggling lightly. “I had… a very wonderful night, actually.”

“That’s good,” Saki replied happily. “…I couldn’t ask for more.”

“I can think of one more thing,” Miyabi replied, twisting around to look into the other’s worn out features. After giving her a soft kiss, making sure she held her newly accepted lover’s eyes fixated on her own, she whispered delicately, “Suki yo, Captain.”

MiyaSaki   :D This just cheered me up. I think my face is going to remain like this  :inlove: for a while. I'm kinda afraid that it would become permanent if I ever read the full version.

Captain is so pro at seducing Miya that it kind of scares me...in a good way  :twothumbs.

Hmmm....It's going to be a long while before I get even close to your level of writing.  :yep:

Third Ember

Yakimochi wo Kudasai

“Nattchan…” Saki said tentatively as the two girls sat at Starbucks early on a Friday morning before work.

Her companion sat in the chair across from her, her bag set on the table just beside her latte, her keen eyes fixed on the iPhone she tapped furiously away at. “Nnn?” the girl replied absent-mindedly.

“I read your blog yesterday…” Saki replied, trying to suppress the pricking thorn of the girl’s attitude.

“Yeah?” she replied in the same manner. “Don’t you always?”

Silence followed a moment after that while Saki tried to deal with the combination of her words and tone. Eventually she replied chidingly, and only a bit spastically, “What? Do you think I spend all my time just reading your blog?”

“Yes,” she replied shortly, and Saki wondered if there was a bit of amusement in her voice now too.

“My time is precious you know…” Saki mumbled. “It’s not always about Miss Natsuyaki Miyabi-chan…”

“Uh huh.”

“Saiaku…” Saki hissed softly, before continuing normally and deciding to take the high road like this conversation wasn’t happening. “You talked a lot about Chissa.”

“Mhm,” she replied. Tap tap… “I just love her. She’s so awesome ♪”

“I see…” Saki replied, the flame inside her flaring higher for a split second. “Did you have fun with her?”

“Maimi and Nacky were there too. Well, most of the time. Still, it was fun hanging out with Chissa. It’s great being around someone who idolizes you, y’know?”

“Mmm…” Saki replied noncommittally herself.

Suddenly the tapping stopped and Saki glanced up to see Miya mechanically stowing the phone in her bag before taking a sip of her latte, her eyes hovering above it and gazing into Saki’s face.

“You’re jealous,” she said after swallowing.

Saki’s eyes widened slightly. “Am not!!” she protested.

“Yes you are,” Miya said, grinning now. “You so are. You forget I know you too well.”

“Maybe you think you do,” Saki shot back. “You don’t know everything about me, after all…” She hoped the lie sounded somewhat convincing; it was something she just wasn’t very good at.

“Oh?” the girl replied, sitting back in her chair while stirring her drink idly. She adopted a faraway look as if remembering something. “You know, Chissa and I did hang out quite a bit yesterday.”

Without thinking, Saki let her eyes fall. Then she stopped her fingers which had been fidgeting in her lap for some reason.

“We went to a park… went shopping… ate yakiniku.”
“Yakiniku?” Saki asked innocently.

“Yeah, it was quite a date,” Miya continued, nodding seriously. “The dessert was to die for…”

Suddenly they heard a crunch, and Saki glanced down to see frozen mocha dribbling all over her small hand from the flimsy plastic cup crushed within it. When the icy cold hitting her nerves finally connected to her brain, the rest of her body froze as well.

“You spilled your drink,” Miya commented, and Saki could definitely hear the amusement in her voice now.

“That’s what you get!!” Saki cried triumphantly as the rest of the frozen delight streaked across Miya’s face after she threw it at the distressingly exasperating girl. Her face lit up in almost maniacal delight as the other’s became contorted in horror at the mess that was now her precious face and hair, just before she sprang up to almost fly to the washroom.

…Or rather, that’s what she felt like she wanted to do as she continued staring at the rivulets of now-wasted frozen goodness running slowly down her hand.

“I hate you…” she said instead, words she’d uttered ten thousand times before and yet not by far often enough.

“Yeah, yeah…” Miya said, and she noticed the girl get up and kneel next to her, napkins in her hand that she used to wipe at Saki’s with great care. Saki just watched the girl clean her as if she were a dutiful maid, from time to time glancing at eyes always focused only on her hands.

When she was done, Miya set the soiled napkins aside, though her hands still engulfed Saki’s own. “What… what are you doing?” Saki asked the girl in a tentative voice.

“I bet that made your hands cold, ne?” she replied cutely, glancing up to Saki’s eyes again as her fingers softly yet firmly stroked along her still-moist skin. “I’m trying to help warm them up.” Eventually she stopped her caresses, but kept her hands lightly atop Saki’s. “Do you want another drink?”

“Um…” Saki replied, trying to make herself think again after recent repetitive shocks to her system. “I should probably get to work now,” she finally managed, glancing up to the line at the counter. “I’ll just pick something up from a vending machine on the way.”

“Okay,” Miya replied, and to her regret Saki felt her pull away to stand up and brush at her skirt. As she leaned over the table to pick up her drink, Saki hastily jumped out of the chair herself before realizing the soiled napkins and cup were still on the table. Before she could get to them though, Miya whisked them away for the trash. “’Always clean up after yourself’, right?” she quoted, then smiled. “Sometimes, you’re just Captain, you know.”

“But that was my—”

“Perhaps the cup is, but the napkins are mine,” Miya responded, brooking no nonsense as she sorted the items into the trash. “And I also just decided to be nice.”

Saki almost snorted at that, and Miya glanced back at her with a raised eyebrow as if reading her mind. In actuality, she most likely was. “Well… thank you for breakfast,” Saki said as always, bowing slightly.

“Just like every morning,” Miya replied as always.

The two left the store, and when they got to the corner turned toward their separate directions to where they were needed for work today. “You’ve got solo events these days, right?” Miya asked casually.

“Yep,” Saki replied, her eyes lingering on the other’s.

“Now you see what I mean about photobooks being hard work,” Miya chided her, smirking slightly.

“Hey, and you didn’t even do a DVD!” Saki shot back. “I wonder why…”

Surprisingly this time, Miya’s smirk widened. “Yeah,” she replied bemusedly. “I can’t wait to watch yours.”

Any sharp retort was abruptly and completely silenced, and vexingly, Saki felt a blush creep up her face. Miya didn’t even give her a chance to recover, as she started skipping off in her direction. “See you tonight!!” she called back.

Saki blinked, but a moment later managed to call back, “Eh? Tonight?”

“D – A – T – E!” Miya called back. “Gotta make it up to you for yesterday, ne?” Then she turned away and disappeared around the next corner.

Stifling the incessant blush, Saki pulled her collar tighter and began walking stiffly in her own direction. About halfway down the block though, a small smile began to creep slowly across her face.

You must have seen where Saki said she was lonesome(Or did I dream that part?), huh? I wondered if anyone would do something about that and here it is. I love the little part where Saki fantasizes throwing the drink at Miya. I guess if I had to put up with that every morning, I'd be a little peeved, too? XD But Miyabi knew just how to tease Captain and then make it up to her. You know, for some reason these two reminded me of another certain couple I know you like. Can you guess which I'm thinking of?

Miya knows how to get on Saki's nerves although I guess she understood the reasoning XD

Aww, it looks like no one's reading it *looks at lurkers*, but I have a little more of the story to share. ^^ Well... not really a little I suppose lol. This part is about twice as long. XD

kuro: Miya and Saki have an understanding with each other.

rndm: Well, I saw where Saki said she was jealous. I think I remember her being lonely once too... And I know what other certain couple you're thinking of. :P There are some similarities in the dynamics, but there are definitely some differences too. 8) This relationship is definitely a work-in-progress for me!

Yakimochi wo Kudasai
Part 2

“You’re late,” Saki said from within the muffler wrapped just below her nose. Her glasses and stocking hat with puffy purple ball on top completed the winter look.

“I have no idea what you said,” Miyabi teased, walking up to take her arm, “But you look cute.”

“Haha,” the girl replied, tugging down the muffler, as they walked fully into the karaoke parlor. “You think you’re funny.”

“I know I am,” she confirmed, and attempted to poke her Captain in the side but was foiled by layers of fabric. Next thing she knew, they were at the reception desk.

“Room for two,” pink-cheeked Saki told the receptionist, and pulled out her loyalty card.

“For how long do you need the room?” the girl behind the counter asked, and Saki glanced up at Miyabi, who shared her look a moment before nodding.

“Overnight. We’ll also take the nomihoudai option.”

The girl glanced up at them skeptically, but a manager strode up and whispered quick instructions into her ear. Her eyes widened slightly, but she nodded with a quick “Hai.” As the manager stood straight again and bowed to them, Miyabi gave him a familiar smile.

“We are honoured to be able to serve you ladies again. Please, enjoy your stay.” Then he bowed again and glided away. Miyabi’s eyes followed him as he left. He was almost as cute as a Johnny’s boy. But then, considering the clientele here, she supposed it should be expected.

“Ita-!” she cried as Saki slapped her on the tiny bit of exposed skin she somehow found, and she rubbed at her hand. “I was only looking at him,” she protested. Saki rolled her eyes and turned back to complete the transaction, which the receptionist was now very willing to close however the two idols wished.

“What drinks would you like to begin with?” she asked after giving them their room assignment.

“Cassis orange cocktail, please,” Miyabi said as usual.

“Draught beer for me,” Saki followed, and Miyabi raised an eyebrow. The other girl only smiled.

“Thank you,” the receptionist greeted, bowing. “They will be dropped off shortly. Have an enjoyable stay.”

Soon after getting settled on the plush booth in their small but elegant room, the eighth-floor view flaunting the Tokyo skyline and the music from the commercials already blaring strong toward them, their drinks arrived. Miyabi took a sip from her tall glass full of the orange juice laced liqueur, while Saki poured the bottle she received into her smaller one.

“So beer tonight, huh?” Miyabi inquired, sipping again.

“By how you were looking at the manager,” Saki replied calmly, “I thought I should order something manly.” As she raised the glass to her lips, their eyes connected and both girls fell into giggling.

“Well if that’s the case,” Miyabi said, setting her drink down after another sip and reaching for the remote for song entry, “I think I’ll have to start with something like Arashi.”

“That’s my Nattchan,” Saki murmured, burying her nose in her beer as the first notes for Hatenai Sora became audible in the room.

She watched Miya with a smile hidden by the glass as she began singing along with the music, but before long was swaying her head to the melody as well. Especially being the first song, as usual Miya was focused on the music while she still learned all its peaks and valleys. Just past halfway though she glanced over at Saki and began to sing as if to her, and with even stronger emotion.

“Namida no ato ga kawaitara
Mata yobikakeru kara
Kotaete yo, mata minu asu e
Hitori janai to kizuitan da
Kagayaku ano tobira tomo ni mezaso~u!”

From that verse on Miya held her gaze, and once the lyrics stopped wrapped an arm around her as they swayed through the final instrumental.

“You may be mean,” Saki stated, laying her head on the other’s shoulder, “But you can also be quite charming.”

Miya glanced down to her, and Saki caught the eyebrows she raised. “But my dear Captain, the night has only just begun.”

Some time later, as the chill night deepened, their ears became full of music, and glass after glass became empty, Miyabi sat with her legs folded beneath her gazing out the window. The fluorescent lights of the city pulsed through her slightly gazed vision as she held her smaller companion who was curled up beside her yet cuddled into her chest as she ran a finger up and down Miyabi’s sleeve.

“Ne~e, Miya,” she cooed as Miyabi stroked her raven tresses.

“Nnn?” Miyabi replied comfortably.

“What kind of dessert did you, um, actually have with Chissa?” When Miyabi became silent and stopped stroking her hair, she adjusted to look querulously up at her, moving back as she did so to sit up against her leg, or basically in her lap.

“You really are suspicious,” Miyabi replied lightly. “Can’t two friends just hang out for a while together?”

Saki smiled faintly, but seeming content after her fill of beer. “No,” she replied plainly. “Not when one of them is her. And when the other is you.” She reached up to play with Miyabi’s collar, watching her fingers lazily. “Besides, I know you too well. You wouldn’t tell me anything at first, and although it seemed you were just teasing later, I had a feeling you weren’t. At least completely.”

“Is this bothering you?” Miyabi asked, looking down seriously into the other’s still-downcast eyes.

“No,” she replied. “Not really. It’s not like I have a claim on you.

“Actually…” she continued after a moment, and Miyabi thought the girl was now focusing very intently indeed on what she was doing at her collar. “Actually…” she said in a half-whisper. Miyabi thought she felt the girl’s heartbeat accelerate through their close contact. “I’m probably just a bit naughty…” she breathed, “But the thought of it gets me... excited.”

Miyabi felt her eyes widen slightly at the surprising admission from her long-time close friend. When she didn’t say anything right away again, Saki finally dared to look up into her eyes with that precious doe expression. “…Well?” she asked again timidly.

Looking into her eyes, Miyabi breathed and felt herself begin to speak. “Like I said, we had dinner. We took our time, so it was late before we were out. We’d generally been walking arm-in-arm, but as we walked through a quiet neighborhood park, I could feel her trying to walk closer to me. Neither of us mentioned it, but by the time we hit the station she had her arm around my waist and her head basically lying on my shoulder.”

She noticed a bit more color flood slowly into Saki’s face, and her fingers picked up from their slow caresses at her neckline in her apparent jealousy, but she went on.

“When we got down to the platform no one else was there yet as this was a rather out-of-the-way neighborhood since we went to a restaurant she recommended, and we sat on one of the benches. I felt a little awkward since she still cuddled into my side as we sat, but she seemed happy so I didn’t say anything. I was happy to give her an enjoyable day, after all. She’s so fun, and she thinks I’m just the greatest…”

She trailed off as Saki’s eyes fell again to focus on what her fingers were doing before sighing wistfully and laying her head against her chest. Miyabi felt like she was trapped somehow, but swallowed and continued her description.

“Anyway, so she was leaning against me on the bench there, head on my shoulder and such, but then I felt her hand slide up to hold my shoulder as if testing to see how I’d react.” She heard Saki giggle softly at that. “I held still as she shifted herself more to face me, and felt her gently hook her leg over my own.

“By this time her face was almost in the crook of my neck, and I didn’t know what to do except hold my arm around her back to make sure she didn’t fall. Feeling her breath on my neck made me feel like I wasn’t really in my own body, but just watching it happen to someone else. I’d never thought of her that way before, so I guess I just didn’t know what to do when she started acting toward me like…” Her arms tightened slightly around Saki’s slim frame. “Like a lover…”

She felt the girl in her lap begin moving again, and after catching an amused gaze momentarily, slowed her breathing when Saki moved in closer to her neck. “How cute,” Saki murmured against her skin. Once again Miyabi felt intimate hot breath, all the hotter due to the alcohol she’d consumed, though now it was something she was more accustomed to. “She got to spend rare time alone with her idol, and decided to take advantage of it. Bold girl. And cutely naïve.”

She paused for a moment, and Miyabi could feel the measured breaths against her neck. “So she was close to you now… like this?”

“Mmm…” Miyabi confirmed, in what came out almost as a moan. Now suddenly a bit more interested in continuing the story, she managed her full voice again. “She started moving gently against me, as if she could sense my tension and was trying to soothe me, her hand on my shoulder and her leg over my own, and the next thing I knew I felt her lips press against my throat.”

Saki made what sounded almost like a purring sound in her own throat at that, and sure enough Miyabi felt soft lips make contact with her tender skin. She closed her eyes, story forgotten for the moment, as the girl traced her way slowly along her collarbone. When a wet tongue touched lightly against her as well, and she felt her skin being gently sucked at, she let out a low, pleased moan and tried to pull her partner tighter against her.

“Is this like what she was doing to you?” Saki managed to ask between the lightly sucking kisses.

“Mmm…” Miyabi replied, willing now to agree to anything if it would make the girl continue what she was doing, but once she reached the nape of her neck, Saki stopped with a last gentle kiss at it.

“And then?” she asked in a more normal voice, if no less sultry.

“Hmm…?” Miyabi asked, still entranced.

She heard Saki giggle lightly. “Then what did Chissa do to you?”

Miyabi blinked. Chissa? That’s right. The story…

“Umm…” she said, too completely distracted now to think more about her next words. “Nothing really... Some other people came, so she stopped being so forward. We stayed hand-in-hand until the train came, and then also as we rode it, but she left when it reached her stop.”

“Well that’s not very interesting,” Saki commented wryly, and Miyabi’s spirits dropped into her stomach. “Although…” and she adopted a more serious look as she rose up to look Miyabi straight in the eyes, their faces held close.

“I know you’re popular…” she said gently. “And I know there’ll be times when you find yourself with other girls. But…

“Miya…” she said, the girl’s eyes seeming to stare deep into her own.

“You’ll always be my Nattchan…

“Right?”

Looking back into that angelic face in front of her, Miyabi couldn’t help but curl her lips into a small smile. “Of course…” she responded tenderly. Again, at the moment, was there anything she could refuse this girl?

Then the distance between them seemed to vanish, and their mouths pressed together as if it had been destined from the very beginning of the evening.

Saki gave her all into the kiss she shared with the girl she loved above all others. She gave her body as she pressed it desperately against Miya’s own. The kiss deepened in their lust, and her tongue infiltrated past pearly sentries. Her hunger for the younger girl was unmatched, as the embrace felt so natural, so right, as if the person she was with right now could be none other than her truly beloved… her soul mate.

Even if she couldn’t have her all to herself, even if she had to share her with someone like the audacious girl she was with yesterday, even if the jealousy became like a mosquito that never died and never flew away, perhaps allowing Miyabi to be the only one for her could eventually be enough.

Then again, tonight, perhaps it was just all the beer talking.

She really did like beer.

Ring Ring…

Ring Ring…

Grumbling to herself, Saki broke out of her sleep to find herself curled up on a booth entwined in someone’s arms. She freed a hand to grope for the phone on the wall, and answered hazily, “Hai.”

“Please excuse me,” the voice on the other end said briskly. “But this is to remind you that you have ten minutes left on your 6AM reservation.”

“All right, thanks,” Saki managed, and hung up the phone.

“Morning already?” Miya asked, stirring beneath her and squinting out the window into the still-black December sky spotted with the always-flashing lights of the city.

“Yeah,” Saki replied, but when the other girl made to sit up Saki pulled her back down and held her close, pressing her head up into her chest again.

“Ahh more sleep. That’s a good idea…” Miya murmured in relief.

Saki sighed. “No… We need to get ready to go.” And regretfully, she broke out of Miya’s arms to start arranging her personal items. The other girl followed grudgingly, and within the ten minutes they headed toward the door. Before she opened it though, Saki turned to the other and looked into bleary eyes before rising up and giving her a soft kiss. “Thank you for tonight.”

The girl smiled sleepily. “I hope you feel a little better now.” Saki giggled in response, and just nodded.

Once they’d checked out and left the building to return once again to the chill air, Saki pulled her coat and muffler tighter around her. “Do you want to come to my place until the autograph session?” she asked tentatively.

Miya shook her head. “I have a later one, remember? Chii and I are hanging out today, so I’m just gonna head home before meeting up with her. Hey, you have some rice cakes still, don’t you?” she asked, and reached her hand into Saki’s bag. “Yakimochi wo kudasai ♪” she requested, smiling, and after pulling a wrapped cake out waved and turned toward her station. “Mata ne~”

Saki took a long, deep breath before putting up a soft smile to dull any unreasonable emotion and pulling out a rice cake of her own to munch on and warm her as she walked along her way home.

Oh they sang plenty. They sang for several hours. They got there late in the evening and reserved it overnight, after all. Just eventually they moved on to... other things. ;)

And as for the drinking, well, it's really not that big a deal if you're Japanese  (or even... not American, lol). That's not really a "taboo" I try to stay away from in fics. Then again, there aren't really any I do. XD

Miya's always a player in your fics, isn't she, rokun? XD  Conflicting emotions for Risako and Captain in Berry Beautiful, and ... well, while she was pretty set on Airi when they were together, it definitely didn't stop her from keeping notice of Risako in The Circle of Three and The Sword and the Dove. Haven't seen enough of Miya in your newer Fukuoka Yankii fic to comment on her there. XD

And the real reason I'm commenting here is because I'm waiting on a new chapter for The Sword and the Dove. I got the sudden urge to start re-reading The Circle of Three last week, and thus I also browsed a bit through The Sword and the Dove and was amazed to see it hasn't been updated since March! I'm hoping we'll be seeing an update for that eventually (soon, hopefully XD ... pllleeaasssee).

Also, because of you, I went and found Chisa's ustream thing with Buono! and it was hilarious watching her totally love Airi and Miya, but ignoring Momoko. I must thank you for bringing that to my attention :D

Btw, the main inspiration for this Yakimochi wo Kudasai "two-shot" (everyone better get the reference XD or at least... the basic part of it if not the pun. If you have questions on that feel free to ask and I'll explain later ) was events on recent Berryz blogs (specifically, from last Thursday and Friday which is also the setting for the fic). Reading blogs this year has given me a different perspective on most things, but I really shouldn't expect everyone else to have done the same or browse randomly around the rest of jphip. I know we have our own little fanfic community here, and well, I didn't generally venture out for a long time either lol. Still don't that much. :P

Anyway, for those who don't know the background, I basically summarized it in these two subsequent posts:

http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=22905.msg819230#msg819230 (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=22905.msg819230#msg819230)

I just couldn't help but do something off that second one. The Berryz Serend blogs are actually quite entertaining in that they exchange with each other quite often... Miya and Saki plenty.

I'm sad to say, I don't real;y get the reference, though I'm not sure if it's my lack of Japanese understanding or my lack of Berryz understanding. :sweatdrop: Either way, this is an interesting take on these two, with Saki jealous, but putting up with Miya's "popularity" and Miya not exactly refusing any "favors" from her fans. Though, I guess, she always comes back to Saki, eh?

Ah, i'm just being an idiot. :P I've been away from the forum for too long. >.>

"Yakimochi wo Kudasai" is a song from Berryz' newest album that was sung by Captain and a couple others. :) Also, yakimochi can mean either "jealousy"... or cooked rice cakes. Hence the pun!

*prances in* Procrastination~~ Well, might as well comment as I reread the two-shot.

Am I allowed to make the comment longer than the fic? XD I'll just resist the urge to do that.

Quote
“I read your blog yesterday…” Saki replied, trying to suppress the pricking thorn of the girl’s attitude.

“Yeah?” she replied in the same manner. “Don’t you always?”
:mon spit: ...I have the urge to glare at my computer screen now but I'll resist the urge since it's Miya that said it.

Quote
Silence followed a moment after that while Saki tried to deal with the combination of her words and tone. Eventually she replied chidingly, and only a bit spastically, “What? Do you think I spend all my time just reading your blog?”

“Yes,” she replied shortly, and Saki wondered if there was a bit of amusement in her voice now too.
:on lol: Can't help but laugh when they take shots at each other. I still have a slight urge to glare but it's dying down.

Quote
“Yes you are,” Miya said, grinning now. “You so are. You forget I know you too well.”

“Maybe you think you do,” Saki shot back. “You don’t know everything about me, after all…” She hoped the lie sounded somewhat convincing; it was something she just wasn’t very good at.
:mon evillaff: Jealousy is wonderful for the fangirl within me.  :mon inluv: So if Miya knows everything about Saki, does Saki know everything about Miya? I guess not if she's this suspicious of Miya with Chisa.

Quote
“We went to a park… went shopping… ate yakiniku.”
“Yakiniku?” Saki asked innocently.

“Yeah, it was quite a date,” Miya continued, nodding seriously. “The dessert was to die for…”
Miya is just too good at teasing people. Imagining Captain's face asking that makes me go :mon lovelaff:

Quote
“I bet that made your hands cold, ne?” she replied cutely, glancing up to Saki’s eyes again as her fingers softly yet firmly stroked along her still-moist skin. “I’m trying to help warm them up.” Eventually she stopped her caresses, but kept her hands lightly atop Saki’s. “Do you want another drink?”
:shy2: :shy1: :luvluv2: :mon angel: <--- So this is what happens when my fangirl is completely released and I can't find the proper monkey to express just how much my brain is going "Kyaa~~!"  I just love little cute moments.

Quote
Before she could get to them though, Miya whisked them away for the trash. “’Always clean up after yourself’, right?” she quoted, then smiled. “Sometimes, you’re just Captain, you know.”
I'll restrain myself from repeating all the smileys from above and just put . Saki's position as Captain can be so useful for fluff.

Quote
Surprisingly this time, Miya’s smirk widened. “Yeah,” she replied bemusedly. “I can’t wait to watch yours.”
:mon evillaff: :mon fu: :mon thumb: It reminds me of ChrNo's comics.

Quote
“You’re late,” Saki said from within the muffler wrapped just below her nose. Her glasses and stocking hat with puffy purple ball on top completed the winter look.
She just sounds like a cute little ball of fluff now.    I miss the Serend mini-blogs and it's mass of pictures of MiyaSaki and of Captain with glasses.

Oh? A familiar smile?  :mon dance:

Quote
“By how you were looking at the manager,” Saki replied calmly, “I thought I should order something manly.” As she raised the glass to her lips, their eyes connected and both girls fell into giggling.
:mon lmao: I just found this really funny for some reason. It reminds me though that I can never settle on who would be the "man" in this pairing.

Quote
“What kind of dessert did you, um, actually have with Chissa?” When Miyabi became silent and stopped stroking her hair, she adjusted to look querulously up at her, moving back as she did so to sit up against her leg, or basically in her lap.
:mon cute: <- I can totally imagine Captain's face like this. Btw, :mon inluv: for Saki sitting in Miya's lap.

Quote
Saki smiled faintly, but seeming content after her fill of beer. “No,” she replied plainly. “Not when one of them is her. And when the other is you.” She reached up to play with Miyabi’s collar, watching her fingers lazily. “Besides, I know you too well. You wouldn’t tell me anything at first, and although it seemed you were just teasing later, I had a feeling you weren’t. At least completely.”
So they both do know each other too well. I'll translate that as "their love is mutual" because I want it to be. :mon determined:

Quote
“Actually…” she said in a half-whisper. Miyabi thought she felt the girl’s heartbeat accelerate through their close contact. “I’m probably just a bit naughty…” she breathed, “But the thought of it gets me... excited.”
:mon ehh:  :mon wind: You made Miya openly admit to Saki that she's a bit naughty.  :mon mischief:

Quote
She paused for a moment, and Miyabi could feel the measured breaths against her neck. “So she was close to you now… like this?”

“Mmm…” Miyabi confirmed, in what came out almost as a moan. Now suddenly a bit more interested in continuing the story, she managed her full voice again. “She started moving gently against me, as if she could sense my tension and was trying to soothe me, her hand on my shoulder and her leg over my own, and the next thing I knew I felt her lips press against my throat.”
:mon evillaff: So dangerous... Captain is even more skilled than Miya. It makes me almost feel like rereading Suki Yo, Captain.

Quote
“You’ll always be my Nattchan…

“Right?”

Looking back into that angelic face in front of her, Miyabi couldn’t help but curl her lips into a small smile. “Of course…” she responded tenderly. Again, at the moment, was there anything she could refuse this girl?
:mon lovelaff: No... :mon inluv:... must resist urge to spam smileys....  :mon angel: Oh and I fixed the sentence for you. XD

Quote
“Yeah,” Saki replied, but when the other girl made to sit up Saki pulled her back down and held her close, pressing her head up into her chest again.
Quote
The girl smiled sleepily. “I hope you feel a little better now.” Saki giggled in response, and just nodded.
:mon inluv: :mon innocent: I demand more MiyaSaki from you!!!  :mon cute:

Quote
Miya shook her head. “I have a later one, remember? Chii and I are hanging out today, so I’m just gonna head home before meeting up with her. Hey, you have some rice cakes still, don’t you?” she asked, and reached her hand into Saki’s bag. “Yakimochi wo kudasai ♪” she requested, smiling, and after pulling a wrapped cake out waved and turned toward her station. “Mata ne~”
:mon cry: Miya and other girls. At least Captain seems to hold a special place in her heart.

Hey, this post actually ended up shorter than I thought it would. I guess that means I restrained myself quite a bit. :mon sweat:

Now it's time to go read and comment on the Sword update ~~  :mon rush:

Awww Windy, thanks for the wonderfully fangirlish comment! Figured comments were done on that fic...

Anyway, here's something else. :lol: This is actually a bit of a sequel to "Buono! Forever", as you'll probably figure out while reading it. There's actually another, extended version of this that isn't, shall we say, "appropriate" to post here, but if anyone requests me through a comment or PM, I may PM it to you. ^^;

The initial inspiration for this was a picture posted in Airi's thread, but even if you figure out which one, don't ask me how this came from it. Anyway enough talk. Onward~

Over the Rainbow

Airi ran through the halls of the studio, grinning widely at any confused staff member she came across, searching for a target she knew was hidden somewhere within these walls. She finally reached a room where within a few girls spun and jumped in dance rehearsal.

Bursting through the door, her eyes locked on the girl she’d been seeking. “Miya!!” she cried as the girls stopped their dancing and looked over at her in surprise.

“Airi,” the girl replied, and Airi’s grin only widened as her eyes sparkled. It seemed like she hadn’t seen the girl in forever… or at least until the last Buono! tour had ended in August. That day had been incredible in so many ways… but since then she almost wondered whether she had just imagined it all. She was prone to doing that kind of thing at times. “What’s up? Are you all right?”

“Oh I’m better than all right!” Airi beamed, and marched up to take Miyabi’s wrist in her hands, bowing quick smiling apologies to Shimizu-san and Sudou-san for stealing their fellow member before dragging the older girl out the door.

“Airi, what is it!?” Miyabi said, now a bit exasperatedly as Airi let her lean back against the wall just outside the room.

For her part, Airi just beamed up into the other’s face. “I just heard from Momo,” she said finally. “A new Buono! single has been arranged! It’s going to continue!!”

“Oh yeah,” Miyabi said neutrally. “I heard that from Momo this morning.” Then she reached up and rapped her knuckles lightly on Airi’s head. “You do remember Momo and I are in the same group and see each other often, right?”

“B-but…” Airi replied, her grin fading, “Isn’t it so exciting!? We get to work together again!!”

“Yeah,” Miyabi said, looking around, though no one seemed to be in the hall with them. Then finally she donned a light smile. “For sure, it is. Why did you come pull me out of the middle of dance rehearsal to tell me about it though? I think we’ve got vocal practice for the new single later in the week, if I remember the schedule right…”

“Well…” Airi said, now feeling a bit of her balloon bursting. “I just wanted to share the news with you as soon as I could. I mean,” she continued hurriedly as she became more anxious, “I thought you’d be happier that we’d, you know, be spending more time together again…”

She became less sure by the second as her thoughts developed more and more. She’d been so excited by the news, she hadn’t thought… After all, that was an amazing evening at the concert, but she’d hardly even talked to the girl since. Who knows, she might have even forgotten what happened!!

“Airi…” Miyabi said, now sounding a bit uncomfortable herself. “Is this about what happened after that last concert?”

She did remember!

“…No,” was what she responded though, looking down.

“I was trying to comfort you, reassure you that things weren’t going to be bad – and you see they aren’t now, right? Then we got caught up in the moment…”

“Mmm…” Airi replied glumly.

“Did you think it was more than that?”

Airi clenched her teeth. She’d tried not to listen to the stories from the other Berryz, as she’d only seem warmth and friendliness from the girl herself – even besides that day – but she now realized how Miyabi could really be quite cruel.

“Of course not,” she managed in a small voice. “Like you said, you were just comforting me. I guess I should thank you for that – you were right, of course.”

The girl was silent for a moment, and Airi was beginning to wish she’d just go back in to her rehearsal. Then she found a hand on her hip.

When she looked back up into the girl’s face, she found dark eyes gazing earnestly back at her. “…Did you want it to be more than that?” she asked. Airi just stared.

“I guess?” she replied. “I mean, I don’t know. You kissed me, and you seemed to like kissing me with as many times as you did it, and Momo said she’d take care of us, and we were late to our meeting, and…” She trailed off. One of these days she really had to stop rambling so much.

When she looked back into the girl’s face, she found Miyabi smiling back at her. “Well we knew then that we wouldn’t be around each other as much after the tour was done. In the weeks after I never heard from you, so I figured you… I mean, you’re Airi. You’re the most talented, cutest girl in Hello! Pro. I thought maybe kissing you had been a mistake.”

Now it was her turn to look down with a light blush, but Airi felt her smile return as she gazed into the gently sweat-beaded face, some of her light brownish locks stuck lightly to her forehead, the rest of her hair tied back tidily into a ponytail out the back. Raising a long-fingered hand she brushed some of it out of Miyabi’s face, causing the girl to look back up at her.

“You think that much of me?” she asked. She left it at that though; Airi was generally one to have only a tiny bit of humility. “I don’t know what to do when it comes to dating or anything. After it happened I didn’t know what to say in a mail or call. I kept wanting to, but I never got one from you, and I guess… well… I just never did.”

“Dating?” Miyabi asked bemusedly, and Airi glanced back up to her and blushed.

“Well, you know…” Airi said nervously. “Girls, or boys… or whatever. I mean, no one had ever kissed me like that before…”

Suddenly the door opened, and Airi felt the hand fall quickly away from her waist. She quickly backed up a step herself in reflex.

“Miya?” Shimizu-san asked, peeking her head out. “Are you coming back to rehearsal? We only have about fifteen more minutes before…”

“Yeah,” the girl in front of Airi responded. “I’ll head back in a minute, okay?”

“Okay,” Shimizu-san said, and with a curious glance at Airi, vanished back into the room, the door swinging shut behind her.

“Do you like me?” Miyabi asked suddenly, and Airi flushed again. The girl was definitely blunt about these things!

“Like you?” Airi asked, as if the words were odd to her. “Um…” Miyabi was staring intently into her face.

“I’ve known you for a long time,” Miyabi explained. “We were really just kids in Aa! after all.”

Airi smiled in reminiscence. “Mhm.”

“Still,” Miyabi continued, “Even at that time I really idolized you. Of course it was completely innocent back then. I mean, I was like ten at the time.”

Airi felt herself blushing again. She never knew the girl felt that way about her. They’d been working together for so long she’d come to think of her like just another classmate – at about the same point in their training, and having a lot of the same experiences. Miyabi was also almost two years older. In fact, shouldn’t it then be the other way around!? Airi had always respected the other’s apparent maturity.

“I guess it never really faded, even when we got placed into different groups,” the girl said again, bringing Airi out of her thoughts. “Although now…” She bit her lip as she gazed rather appraisingly into Airi’s face. “I think I just now really realized it, but I don’t think it’s all that innocent anymore…”

Airi blushed, looking down to try and hide her face. “Wh-” she began unsteadily. “What do you mean?”

Suddenly the girl seemed to get distracted, and glanced anxiously toward the closed door beside them. She reached up to grip Airi by the shoulders though, leaning toward her insistently. “Please, be honest,” she said earnestly, Airi blinking up at her. “I want to know. Do you like me?”

Glancing back into Miyabi’s face, that face which she knew from long ago could be so intense, so… striking, and the girl who’d always been so kind to her, respecting her, caring for her like a little sister… the girl who said she had idolized her… Glancing into her face, she felt herself taken by the girl just as she had been back in that dressing room.

“Yes…” she replied softly, then spoke a bit more confidently, if still with quite a blush at the words which came out, “Yes Miya, I like you. I like you a lot…”

Relief seemed to wash across the girl’s face, and Miyabi smiled before leaning forward to whisper into her ear, “Would you like to celebrate the new Buono! single with me?” Airi tried to breathe slowly, hearing the girl’s words yet being distracted by their sudden proximity.

She nodded.

“Come by my house after dinner tonight,” Miyabi continued in her whisper. “Bring fresh clothes. We’ll have a sleepover, ne?”

Before Airi could process the girl’s words, she pulled back. “Well I’ll see you later, okay?” she said cheerfully. “I gotta get back to rehearsal or Captain’s gonna be on my ass… Take care!” And with a wink, she disappeared back into the room as well.

Airi just stood for a few minutes in that spot, staring dumbly at the wall. What… exactly had she just agreed to? She didn’t know, but when she realized she’d be spending time with Miyabi again, she grinned and started skipping down the hall.

Staring at the numbers on the door, Airi took a deep breath before knocking and trying to suppress any outward showing of her nervousness. It was only a moment before the door swung open and Miyabi stood smiling back at her. Airi took in the girl’s appearance – she was dressed casually, but in a red Buono! shirt and short denim shorts with a too-long belt buckled at the waist. Bowing awkwardly, Airi walked in, Miyabi taking her jacket as she straightened her own loose blouse and patched bell-bottom jeans.

“Glad you made it!” Miyabi said, hanging up her coat.

Airi took a glance around the living room; it seemed only vaguely familiar to her since she thought she hadn’t been here in years… perhaps even since C-ute was formed. “Of course. You don’t think I’d renege on a fun night with you, would I? Plus it’s been too long!”

“I agree,” she agreed, and the two girls faced each other, Miyabi beaming at her. Suddenly feeling a bit nervous again, and also the silence of the room, she glanced toward the kitchen. “Did your parents already go to bed?”

“They aren’t here tonight,” Miyabi replied, still smiling at her. “Dad’s in Osaka on business, and mom’s off visiting family. She asked me to go with her, but I didn’t wanna miss work.” Her face turned ponderous for a moment. “For once I’m glad of having work…”

Airi smiled wider, trying to hide her increasing embarrassment and ignore what the girl might mean by that. If Miya’s parents were gone, then that meant they were alone in the house. They’d be alone all night in this house together… It was odd. She never used to worry about things like that when she visited friends, but tonight something really set her on edge.

“Here,” Miyabi said, reaching for her bag, “I’ll take this up to my room.” She turned to head up the stairs, but glanced back wryly. “I don’t suppose you remember the way, do you?”

Deciding to forget deeper thoughts at the moment, Airi let out a giggle before running after Miyabi. The girl yelped and tried to escape quickly up the stairs, Airi just swiping at her shoelaces in her incoordination.

Eventually she caught up to the girl in her room, where Miyabi tossed her bag to the side before she finally launched herself and tackled her to the side of the bed, causing them both to fall hard to the floor next to it. They giggled as they crawled up onto the bed in an attempt to regain their posture, and Airi leaned to laugh into Miyabi’s shoulder. This caused the other girl to fall back onto the bed, and Airi found herself grinning down above her, herself fully on top of the bed, but Miyabi still with her legs hanging off the side.

Airi’s laughter faded as she stared down into Miyabi’s eyes dancing with their playfulness, and she somehow began to feel self-conscious.

“S-sorry…” she murmured, letting out a short nervous giggle again, and tried to pull back to let the girl up. However, she was halted by the girl’s hands gripping at her arms.

“Don’t go,” Miyabi said, still smiling. The smile still seemed natural, but Airi thought she caught a hint of uncertainty in the other as well. “I like you here.”

“Where?” Airi asked, glancing around the room.

Miyabi let out a short, cute giggle, and extended her arms around Airi’s shoulders. “Here in my arms, silly.” Then she paused, and continued in a quieter voice, “And with me in my bed, too.”

Airi swallowed. This isn’t happening… This isn’t happening…

“What are you talking about?” she said out loud with an innocent smile. “I’ve slept with you here before.”

“But that was years ago,” Miyabi said. Her smile seemed to fade, but Airi thought now it almost seemed just… content? The girl’s breathing also slowed. “It’s different having you here now. Especially now we’ve…” Her eyes narrowed slightly. “I’m not alone here… am I?”

Airi swallowed again, taking in a breath, and finally decided she needed to deal with the reality of the situation. “No,” she replied quietly. “I said I like you, didn’t I? I know what that means too. I’m just…” She looked away self-consciously again.

Miyabi’s hand fell back to touch her chin, and turn her eyes back down to hers. “Do you want to be with me?” she asked Airi gently.

After a moment, Airi nodded slowly.

Miyabi seemed to be looking for more, but she continued confidently, if still with a tinge of nervousness. “Airi, I… I meant it when I said I liked you in my bed. I want you in my bed. I want… you.”

Feeling the tension rise slowly between them at the girl’s words, Airi widened her lips in a smile. “You’re right. It’s different now than when we were kids.”

“If you don’t want to, that’s okay,” Miyabi said quickly, but Airi laid a finger to her lips and shook her head.

“I may have not let myself think of it, but somehow I really knew something like this might happen tonight.”

She let her eyes drift between the other’s, and then down to her lips. She also became very aware of the girl exuding warmth beneath her, her chest rising and falling slowly with each breath. She felt a warm ball down in her belly which rose slowly up her body into her throat. If she did this, she could become even closer to that enticing heat below her. If she did this, she would be giving her own body to another. Amazingly, even if she’d heard it from others and innocently sung about it herself in so many songs, she found the thoughts excited her more than she’d imagined.

After all, if it was anything like those kisses in the dressing room…

She smiled down at Miyabi, a true genuine smile this time of content that matched the one which had been reflected back at her. “So are you going to kiss me or not?”

Then, with a grin of her own and eyes suddenly sparkling, Miyabi pulled her head down until their lips met to begin their adventure.

A phone ringing brought Airi out of an unusually pleasant and relaxed slumber, but she woke up to find herself cradled in the arms of another. After stupidly staring through the early morning light at the girl lying beside her, the phone continuing to ring, she reached out a long arm to the end table to pick up the cell. Its touch felt odd, but then she’d just woken up. Flipping it open, she pressed it to her ear.

“Moshi moshi…” she said tiredly.

“…Hello?” came the high-pitched reply.

“Ohayo,” Airi greeted again.

“…Who is this?”

“Um, Suzuki Airi,” she said, becoming a bit irritated as she wondered what the other’s problem was. If a stupid sales call woke her up again…

“Airi-chan!?” came a quick response. “Why are you answering Miya’s phone?”

“Um…” Airi said, blinking. Whose phone? Then she took a look again at the girl lying next to her. She stirred slightly, and Airi felt arms wrap tightly around her again.

“Mmm…” the girl mumbled. “Airi… who is it?”

“Oh my god!” came the voice on the other end again. “You guys didn’t!” Suddenly Airi recognized who it was. “You did it, didn’t you?”

Before Airi could figure out how to respond again, she felt the phone being taken away from her by one of the arms which encircled her chest.

“Momo, is that you?” Miyabi muttered as she pressed the phone to her own ear. Airi held happily still in the other’s embrace. “I’ll get back to you later, okay? I’m gonna have sex with my girlfriend again before we come into work. Ja ne~ Bye bye.”

And the phone clicked shut.

1/2, huh?  I can't wait to see part 2 of this. :D

Miya/Airi fluff is nice to see. ^_^ I like your one-shots and your short fics with Miya in them... She doesn't get the enormous amounts of drama you put her through in your epic fics. XD

And, I hate to be a copycat, but as rndmnweird quoted, this really is the best line in the fic.

It just made me lol so much   At least it was Momoko who called.  I wonder how awkward it would be been if it had been Captain or someone else calling. XD

my biggest fear is answering the wrong phone morning after. Aggressive Miya, by no means a new element in fic, is very refreshing to see in this story.

*runs and hides from everyone but Windy, ayase, and anonymousdowner :ph43r:*

Fourth Ember

Sankaku Berryz

“Otsukare-desu!” Miyabi said into the camera, wiping the sweat off her face as she trotted down to the dressing rooms. She gave a smile and a wave too before turning a corner. Today was a crazy day, with the exciting announcements of the ninth generation members of Morning Musume. The new girls were so cute!!! She hoped she had the chance to get to know them a bit before the tour was over.

Upon reaching the dressing room ahead of the others she tried fixing her hair a bit as they trickled in. Chinami and Yurina were joking around, Maasa chatting with Saki just behind. Risako brought up the rear, taking her time as usual in her “elegant girl” attitude.

She caught a glance through the mirror though as Risako caught up to Saki and Maasa, and then whispered something into Saki’s ear. The reason it caught her attention was because as she whispered, the girl seemed to glance at her. Afterward, Saki gave a nod and patted Maasa’s shoulder before coming over to her.

“Ne~, Miya,” the girl said, smiling. “Do you have plans for tonight?”

“No,” Miyabi replied, her mood picking up. “You wanna do something?” She’d really enjoyed all the time she was able to spend with her best friend lately, and was excited at the thought of a small after-party with her.

“Well,” the girl replied, “Rii-chan and I were thinking of going to an izakaya, and I… I was wondering if you’d like to come along too.”

Miyabi’s eyebrows furrowed as she saw a bit of pink blossom in the other’s cheeks. “Rii-chan too?” That was different; normally just it was just the two of them when they hung out, at least when it wasn’t the full group. After thinking about it a second though she thought it wasn’t a bad idea. It was always enjoyable being with Risako too, and it felt like it had been forever since she’d hung out with their youngest member.

“Yeah,” Saki replied, still seeming a bit nervous about something. “We just thought it would be a good opportunity for the three of us to… hang out together, you know?”

Finishing with her hair for the moment, Miyabi smiled over to her friend. “It sounds like fun!” she told her, and her Captain’s smile brightened again before the girl turned back to the mirror to brush at her makeup with a removal pad.

Even though she wasn’t fully aware of it, Miyabi’s eyes lingered on the girl’s face, and especially her cherry lips, before she turned back to her own after-concert dressing-down. Still, she felt a smile on her face at the girl’s presence next to her. Being beside Saki was always… soothing, especially recently for some reason.

A little while later, after parting with the other H!P members, the three girls giggled as they walked down the street, chattering between the brims of their flat hats and the mufflers which covered their chins in the early-January cold. Miyabi really felt glad she accepted the invitation, as it honestly was wonderful to hang out with two of her closest friends. It truly did seem like forever since she’d last done something with Risako.

“So do you guys have a place picked out for dinner?” Miyabi asked as they huddled close together for warmth as they walked.

“It’s just a place we discovered a little while ago,” Saki replied, exchanging a knowing look with Risako. Once again Miyabi got a strange feeling. “It doesn’t look like anything special, but the food’s delicious. It also feels a bit private.”

“You’ve been there before?” Miyabi asked, frowning at both of the girls.

“Mhm,” Risako replied. “We found it one time after I came from a Himuro Ibu performance near here. Saki-chan had come to meet me afterward.”

Since when had Risako started calling her Saki-chan? Miyabi wondered, peering suspiciously at the two girls beside her. “I didn’t know you two had been hanging out lately.”

“It’s only been for the last few weeks,” Risako said, smiling over at Saki, and they left it at that as the girl changed the subject to the type of food they sold at the place they were going. Miyabi’s questions still lingered in her mind, however.

Soon though Miyabi was enjoying the food her friends had described as they sat on cushions around a low, round table that was divided from the rest of the restaurant by curtains. “This really is good!” Miyabi praised as she finished the last in a tray of yakitori, and afterward sat back on her hands to stretch out a little. As she stretched her legs under the table however, she bumped into those of the others and made a quiet apology. The other two girls just giggled though, and when Miyabi realized what she was feeling at her feet, she stifled a blush.

The others’ legs were stretched out as well, though she knew there wasn’t enough room for it despite their heights. Even more, she could feel their legs moving slowly, right next to each other… and against each other…

Suddenly, their eyes connecting, Saki leaned forward to reach a hand across the table toward Risako. The other girl nodded at her, and Risako reached out as well to take the hand in her own.

“Um…” Miyabi said, glancing from the hands up into the faces of each of her friends. She wasn’t seeing what she thought she saw… was she?

“Miya,” Risako said, finally turning her eyes in her direction. “You might’ve figured it out by now, but there’s another reason Saki invited you to come here with us tonight.”

Miyabi swallowed, and Saki continued, smiling now between her and Risako. “Miya, you’re my best friend. You’re the person who I’ve maybe felt the closest to for a few years now.”

“Same here,” Risako added. “Although maybe I haven’t seen you too much lately, you were really my first friend in Berryz.”

“That’s… nice,” Miyabi said, a crooked smile coming to her face in her embarrassment. “I’m happy you think of me that way... I feel, er, close to you guys too.”

Saki’s smile faded slightly. “Even so, or maybe because of that,” the girl said, “I didn’t really know how to tell you before. But…” She smiled again at Risako. Miyabi’s eyes drifted down to their hands at the middle of the table again, the fingers of each girl tenderly caressing those of the other. “Rii-chan and I had a long talk the other night, and together we decided on what we thought we’d like best.”

Miyabi’s eyes had been widening the whole conversation, both from the girls’ words and their actions toward each other. “Are… are you guys dating?” she asked, her voice grown faint.

The smiles in response were all the confirmation she needed, but Saki nodded. “We’ve been seeing each other for a few weeks now,” she said, looking into the other’s eyes. “Since just before we found this izakaya. That’s part of the reason we wanted to come back here now, with you…”

“Wow,” Miyabi replied, gazing wide-eyed between her two friends. “That’s just… That’s… Wow.” She really didn’t know what to say; for some reason she had the strangest feeling. It couldn’t be jealousy… These were her closest friends! But dating…! She sometimes wondered what it would be like to have a boyfriend, but she never imagined Saki-chan would… and with Risako…!

“How did it start?” she asked finally.

Risako giggled.

“Well,” Saki said, grinning over at the other. “It was our last tour date in Kanagawa. Remember Rii-chan invited us over to her house?”

Miyabi nodded. She’d always enjoyed hanging out with Risako’s family, and with the rest of the Berryz it was always a fun time since her mom, aside from cooking wonderful food, always thought up interesting games for them to play too.

“Well,” Saki continued, still grinning, “When we were playing a game – Rii-chan, do you remember what it was?”

Risako shook her head. “I think I got too distracted to remember,” she said. “I wonder why…” Then she fell into giggling again.

“I guess you weren’t the only one,” Saki said with a mischievous glint in her eye. “Anyway,” she continued turning back to Miyabi, “Rii-chan was the first one out of the game, and had gone up to her room. We thought she’d just gone to get something. It wasn’t long before I was out too though, and decided I’d go up to keep her company.”

“It was so embarrassing…” Risako said, blushing.

“Hey! I haven’t even gotten to that part yet!” Saki shot back in amused annoyance.

“Mhm…” Risako murmured in her amused response.

“When I got up there, I saw she was at her computer. When I came closer, I realized she was looking through the making-of preview for my photobook that I’d brought with me to show her parents!”

“I was mortified!” Risako chimed in. “It was such bad luck…”

“Yep,” Saki said, capturing the other’s eyes again. “At that moment the scene she had up was the one where I was taking off my dress above that bikini which looked like underwear. Remember?”

That last question was intended for Miyabi, and she nodded numbly. She almost blushed herself upon remembering a gif focusing completely on that scene someone had mailed her from an internet forum. It had taken awhile before she could stop staring at it.

Perhaps it really was jealousy she was feeling at the moment…

“Anyway,” Saki continued, “I cleared my throat, and Rii-chan gave the cutest little cry and jumped in her seat.”

“Embarrassing, I tell you…” Risako said, looking down but with the smile still playing at her lips. With the light pink flush in her cheeks, Miyabi thought she looked quite cute to match Saki’s story.

“I just had to poke fun at her, so I teased her about liking to watch the other members taking their clothes off. ‘But it’s just you!’ she’d said.” Saki paused a second for a breath before continuing on, seeming excited to have reached this point in the story. “Of course I couldn’t let that go either, and was like, ‘Ohh, so it’s me you like seeing with my clothes off. Well then…’ And then I started to lift my shirt, meaning to just torture her a bit by like pulling it halfway up or something, but she just screeched and jumped up, grabbing at my shirt to try and pull it back down. But then…”

Risako blushed a deeper red as Saki’s description unfolded, though Miyabi was just becoming dazed. “I’m so uncoordinated…” the younger girl bemoaned, “I grabbed her boobs instead!!”

That caused the two of them to fall into laughter, and Miyabi even cracked a smile at the sudden lightness.

“I was just shocked!” Saki went on, trying to stifle her laughter as she spoke. “I stood there, my hands still holding my shirt halfway up, her hands at my chest…”

“I was mortified,” Risako said again, commenting on her part in the fiasco.

“’Um… Risako…’ I’d said, and looked up into her eyes. That was the fateful moment, because when I saw her beautiful eyes just so struck with emotion, and combined with an odd tingle from what her hands were doing… I don’t know what came over me, but I just rose up on tiptoe and kissed her right on the lips!”

“She kissed me!” Risako exclaimed dreamily, staring into the other girl’s face the same way.

“It didn’t last,” Saki continued, “Since Chinami had apparently also just lost downstairs, and came up to see what we were doing. But that was enough…”

“Mhm,” Risako said with a smile. “She called me later that night and we had a long talk, and decided to try and meet up more, and…”

“That was another thing,” Saki pondered bemusedly, “Another reason I never told you, or anyone else. Rii-chan and I were really just hanging out together more. Only…” she blushed. “Only with more kissing involved… among other things.”

Miyabi decided not to ask about those ‘other things’, and instead swallowed again before speaking. “Wow, that’s… that’s quite a story. I’m… you know… I’m happy for you…” She wondered why inside she didn’t really echo that sentiment though. “And it’s okay you didn’t tell me. I’m glad you did now.”

“You’re the first one we have,” Risako said, and Saki nodded.

“Yes,” the older girl replied. “Although, there was also another reason we wanted to bring you here to talk …”

“Oh?” Miyabi asked wispily, still trying to straighten out her thoughts.

Saki gave a very pointed, determined look at Risako, and after staring back just as intently a moment, the younger nodded. Then Saki released her hands and scooted over to Miyabi, now taking a gentle hold of Miyabi’s arm.

“Rii-chan and I have enjoyed being together,” she said in a soothing voice, stroking Miyabi’s arm lightly. Miyabi’s eyes were locked on the girl’s fingers, and her nerves on the tingling sensation they were torturously evoking in her skin. “But… you know… for some reason it still felt like something was missing. And for both of us.”

Then, to Miyabi’s heightening amazement and anxiety, Risako slid up to her other side and took hold of her other arm. The younger girl’s touch perhaps wasn’t as gentle, but it was firm. “We talked about it,” she said, and Miyabi noticed her catch Saki’s eyes across her chest, “And although we enjoyed being with each other, we also… since you mean so much to both of us, we… we wanted to be with you.”

“What…?” Miyabi said, swallowing again. Her collar was suddenly feeling very tight as a warm feeling shot up and down her body at the proximity of both girls, and she swallowed again while she still could. “What are you saying…?”

She looked to both girls as they gazed back at her, but then saw them look at each other again. They both leaned forward in front of her and, just centimeters before her nose, met in a kiss. Miyabi’s eyes crossed as she couldn’t help but stare, and as the kiss lingered – it was definitely not a very innocent one – she felt the heat rise fully up into her face.

When the two parted, Miyabi was happy to see light blushes in their features as well; they were hard to miss as close as they all were together. Then she felt movement at her left side, and Saki moved up slowly to straddle her left leg. She lifted her hand to Miyabi’s face to turn it toward her, and then pulled her closer as she leaned in to her lips.

Miyabi’s eyes widened as her Captain began to kiss her eagerly, her other hand wrapping around her side as she pressed into it. After a moment Miyabi’s eyes drifted closed as they began to fully make out, Saki’s tongue slipping gently between her lips.

Miyabi groaned softly as she enjoyed the warmth pressing up against her, and she forgot where she was for a moment until noticing another pleasant sensation on the right side of her neck. Gradually she remembered that in addition to the girl kissing her Risako was pressed up to other side as well, and the younger girl was obviously now kissing along her neck. When she got to her ear, and when Miyabi felt another tongue flick inside it, she managed to pull away from Saki and catch a breath.

“What…” she breathed, as her Captain now kissed wetly down her cheek to the other side of her neck, “What are you…”

“Shh,” Risako whispered, laying a finger to her lips. The girl moved to look into her eyes now too, as well as straddle her right leg firmly. She was smiling pleasantly. “Just enjoy us for a minute.” Then Risako leaned in to initiate a deep kiss of her own while Saki played just above her shoulder.

After a while – there was no way Miyabi could tell how long – both girls still sat comfortably on each of her legs, caressing her as well as each other. Miyabi, for her part, was completely flummoxed. That potentially jealous feeling was gone, and in its place was fulfilled contentment at having the two people who meant the most to her so close… not to mention having also just made out with both of them.

“So what do you think?” Saki asked in a demure voice as she twirled a finger in a strand of Miyabi’s hair.

“Mmm?” Miyabi murmured, still vacant of most thoughts. She heard Risako giggle.

“Well I know it may not be very conventional, and we may not be able to tell anyone…” Saki purred in response, “But…”

“Would you be our girlfriend?” Risako asked. “It’d just be so much more… exciting… for all three of us to be together, don’t you think?” The other two girls gazed at each other lustily as she spoke.

Miyabi, amazed at what was coming out of their youngest member’s mouth, finally regained some of her wits. However, looking into the eyes of both of them, those eyes baring themselves as if to say she only had to reach out and take each of them, and they’d be hers… Also, feeling their bodies warmly pressed up against her… she realized she only had one response.

“I’m a really lucky girl… aren’t I?”

And that's how rokun solved the dreaded MiyaSaki vs MiyaRi debate! XD

I know when I got to the part where Saki and Risako were getting all cuddly on Miya my face went :w00t:

But still, in the beginning, it kinda felt like the Jaws theme should be playing.

Saki replied, exchanging a knowing look with Risako. Once again Miyabi got a strange feeling.

This would be the part where the shark swallows the little tiny fishing boat. XD

Haha, oo~kay, I'm done. Good night.

I really thought Miya was having a dream as soon as I read that Captain and Risako had been hooking up. XD
My favorite part had to be when Captain and Risako were telling Miya of how they first got together. They sounded like a married couple telling the story of how they first met. I got a little shy reading that part

Miya seems to be the star of many fics in your Campfire, just as Aichan is the star in Essy's Sandbox. I like, I like.

As weird as this may sound I can't wait to read the sequel (if there is one  XD) lol

This deff took care of my ''which one is better MiyaSaki or MiyaRii'' problem haha

Great story, can't wait to read more from you

Honestly, I didn't think you would actually write this.

Anyways,  :mon angel: This one-shot deserves some squealing from the fangirl within me so... Monkey time!~  :mon dance: :mon roll:

And so it begins.  :mon evillaff:

If I didn't know what this one-shot was about, I would probably be questioning like crazy about why Risako was whispering to Saki about something Miyabi-related..... but I do know so again  :mon evillaff:

Quote
Even though she wasn’t fully aware of it, Miyabi’s eyes lingered on the girl’s face, and especially her cherry lips, before she turned back to her own after-concert dressing-down. Still, she felt a smile on her face at the girl’s presence next to her. Being beside Saki was always… soothing, especially recently for some reason.
:mon inluv: You know I had to quote this one.  :mon determined: Cute MiyaSaki love still overpowers all.

Quote
Since when had Risako started calling her Saki-chan? Miyabi wondered, peering suspiciously at the two girls beside her. “I didn’t know you two had been hanging out lately.”
:mon squee: She picked that up. You know that voice in the back of my head was telling me to believe that Miyabi is jealous at this point. Let's see... if I didn't know anything, I would be going  :mon spit: and  :mon dunno: at this point with possible fangirling while glaring a bit at the same time.

Quote
The others’ legs were stretched out as well, though she knew there wasn’t enough room for it despite their heights. Even more, she could feel their legs moving slowly, right next to each other… and against each other…
That's such an awkward moment for Miya. It's a funny moment to me though.  :mon fan: At this point, I would've probably been going  :mon duh: and  :mon speechless:

Quote
“Wow,” Miyabi replied, gazing wide-eyed between her two friends. “That’s just… That’s… Wow.” She really didn’t know what to say; for some reason she had the strangest feeling. Wouldn't be right if she wasn't jealous. :mon determined:

“Yep,” Saki said, capturing the other’s eyes again. “At that moment the scene she had up was the one where I was taking off my dress above that bikini which looked like underwear. Remember?”
:mon sigh: Such a horrid bikini. I really did like it better when she had her dress on. Yeah, couldn't help mentioning this.

Captain's PB has just been really useful, hasn't it? And it hasn't even been released yet. XD My mental image of how Miyabi would be seeing that gif is something like  :mon huh2: :mon duh: :mon oshitwc: :mon blood:  :mon innocent: + maybe her going  :mon scare: and :mon suspect: after realizing that others besides her would see it. Geez... it's like I'm telling a story through monkeys.  :mon sweat:

:mon oshitwc: You really did make Saki quite naughty here. And :mon lmao: at Risako's wonderful fail moment.

So awkward to have two people you know intensely kissing in front of your face but...  :mon evillaff:

Alright, there'd be way too much random fangirling if I quoted more + my brain is dying more than usual right now so I'll just end with this next one.

Quote
“I’m a really lucky girl… aren’t I?”
:mon determined: Need I say anything about this besides "Hell yeah?" Although, having just Captain should be enough to make her a really lucky girl. <- The biased fangirl appeared again.

This threesome came out well. It just wouldn't have been the same if Captain and Risako were just sharing Miyabi.  :mon thumb:

There's your monkey-filled comment. Now it's time for me to return to my lurking for a while.

AH!!!! O____O

I was actually enjoying this Saki/Rii since I already thought about it and had been seeing Saki being closer to Rii recently since she has more pictures with Miya or Rii, than Chii.
I already love Saki/Rii but haven't read any fic like it. :D Rokun! Why didn't you tell me? After all that we've been through....  Lol. Dramatic much?  :P

But now, Saki/Miya/Rii?   Loving it~ :D Haven't even considered Captain to share Miya with Rii or vice versa.  :nervous

Great, great, great! I love this fic~  :twothumbs

If anyone's still around here, I hope you enjoy it. :)

Fifth Ember

Nobody Knew

Laughter from late night revelers echoed from down Takeshita Street as two girls approached each other below a streetlamp outside Harajuku station. Both were now comfortably settled into autumn attire, although that meant something very different for each of them.

The colors were similar – a mixture of washed-out grays and browns and navy blue, but the older by a few years wore a dress that carried nearly down to her ankles as well as an off-white knitted jacket. The other, relatively the same size though younger, boasted a denim jacket over a thin black nylon tank with stainless steel studs up and down its straps. The belted skirt over thin sweatpants carried barely to mid-thigh.

“Are you all right with this?” the elder spoke, peering concernedly into the eyes of the other glistening above her white mask. They still seemed a bit dark and puffy.

“I’m dealing,” the other replied. “Holding everything in until it’s all over comes with some unexpected… effects.”

The older girl smiled. “You always were a crybaby when it came down to it.”

“Hey, I saw someone else up there bawling her eyes out at least as much!”

“Ah, but I didn’t disappear nearly right away afterward.”

“Shut up,” the younger pouted, the other still smiling.

That smile adopted a nervous tension though when she prompted once again, “If you don’t want to do this now, there will be other places. It seems they always have availability.”

“Ai-chan,” Reina Tanaka replied to her in almost a low growl, “If I don’t finally have you completely to myself tonight, I am literally going to kill someone. And it may end up being one of our new oh-so-cute kouhai.”

Ai Takahashi giggled at that, then stopped immediately. No. Killing new kouhai was a bad thing, a bad… But then her protective sense was stymied in remembering once again that she was no longer their leader, the one they’d come to. She was no longer anyone’s leader, and she wondered if anyone would ever come to her for something again. If anyone would ever…

“Come on then,” she said quickly before she broke down again herself. Reina looked skeptically at her, though she ignored it. The girl was too good at picking up on her moods. “We’ve kept them waiting in the office long enough as it is.” And she began walking down the wide street paralleling the station toward Yoyogi Park.

Reina quickly jumped to keep pace with her, only reaching back to rub her thigh muscle once. Ai knew she had soreness at times after a long concert. “They’re an upper-scale business, Ai-chan,” the younger girl explained once again matter-of-factly. “Someone’s available at the front desk twenty-four hours a day.”

Perhaps, Ai thought. Still, she was worried about causing trouble to others. She wanted to make a good impression on those who she’d hopefully be in the care of for a long while, after all.

When they reached the park, Reina broke away from her and detoured slowly off the sidewalk toward a fountain that was shut off for the night, sitting down on a bench overlooking it. There were a few other people who became visible on the paths around them from time to time, but at this hour it was generally deserted.

With a sigh, after she had stopped to watch what her companion would do, Ai walked over and sat beside Reina on the bench. Reina held her bag tightly in her lap as she stared hard at the slightly rippling water in the fountain pool.

“What’s the matter?” Ai asked simply this time, deciding not to once again pursue whether the other’s mind was still made up.

“Ai-chan, if I do this…” Reina replied hesitantly. “If I do this, I won’t be a kid anymore.”

“I know what you mean,” Ai said, touching the tips of her fingers to the other’s arm. “It’s the same for me.”

Reina turned to her, peering a moment into her eyes before shaking her head. “No. You’re already past that. You’ve graduated. You’re not an idol anymore. You were a leader… and you’ve even graduated that. I’ve been nothing. Just a kid.”

“That’s not true,” Ai responded. “You’ve been doing this for eight years too. You led Aa! right from the beginning. Airi-chan and Miyabi depended on you. Then there was High-King.”

Reina gave her a skeptical look. “I was hardly a leader then. They were even my senpai, after all! As for High-King… Well, as much as I loved the recognition, you can’t be serious. You were there too.”

“It was actually nice being able to relax and let someone else handle things for once,” Ai replied insistently. “I could just focus on my performance.”

“Like that’s something you don’t do anyway,” Reina retorted. “Besides, Yuukarin, Saki-chan, Maimi-chan… It’s you they look up to. With you around I could really be nothing more than a figurehead. Not that I mind being that, mind you,” she added importantly.

“Even if that was true, it won’t be the case any longer,” Ai said gently.

Reina stared at her for a time, then looked away as if fishing for a response. “Gaki-san will be leader then,” she mumbled.

Ai took a deep breath and sat back. The subject just became a bit touchier again. “They won’t look up to her in the same way,” she said quietly, though she was very reluctant to do so. “You know that.”

“Why do you always get quiet when talking to me about her?” Reina asked suddenly.

Ai now was the one staring back in reply.

“What… are you talking about?” she asked, a bit dumbly.

“Gaki-san,” Reina replied bluntly. “You just started getting quiet when I mentioned her.”

“I…” Ai stumbled, “Um…” This is why she never liked boasting about herself. But she didn’t see what that had to do with Risa.

“I’m only kidding,” Reina chided with a toothy grin, poking at her arm. “You are too predictable, you know. I need to work on making you more confident in yourself.”

But I am confident in myself! Ai told herself, silently offended. I just don’t think I’m necessarily better than anyone else!

“Come on,” Reina said, suddenly standing up and pulling Ai to her feet as well. She was still grinning. “Let’s go buy an apartment.”

After finally reaching the station beside the park and taking the Oedo line to Roppongi, the girls walked in to the center office of building two of Roppongi hills and approached the desk.

“May I help you?” the receptionist asked. Despite the late hour – nearly eleven at night now – the area hummed quietly with activity. The low sound of some business programming emanated from a TV in front of some couches – Reina eyed it carefully – and a counter was still stocked with snacks beside elegant-looking pots of tea.

“Yes,” Ai replied. “I am Takahashi Ai.” She pointed to her companion. “And this is Tanaka Reina. I apologize for bothering you at this late hour, but we’d like to finalize our leasing contract and move in to the apartment we’ve reserved.”

As she spoke, she was very conscious of Reina eyeing her now, a small smirk at the corner of her mouth garnishing an expression that almost seemed impressed. Ai just tried not to fumble with her words.

“Ah, yes,” the attendant replied. “I was told you would be arriving. If you will allow me to retrieve the manager, he will be excited to take care of you.”

“We’re in your care,” Ai hastily said with a bow of her head. She was pleased to see Reina give a small nod as well, though that smirk certainly didn’t go away.

A half hour or so later, Ai fumbled with the shiny new keys in her hand at the door of the apartment they had just bought together. She’d almost completely stressed herself out over the paperwork and signing the contract for so much money, to where now it felt like her nerves were almost completely shot.

“Here,” Reina said impatiently, and grabbed for Ai’s hand to hold her fingers steady enough to find the right key. When it fit into the lock and the door began swinging open, the girl muttered bemusedly, “Will I have to do everything for you?”

When they stepped inside, Ai stared. Of course she’d seen the plan and a model before, but actually being here, in a house that was hers – theirs, she immediately corrected herself – and seeing all the furniture laid out in a very appealing fashion, smelling the scent of new upholstery and fresh paint, made her feel like crying again. It really was almost too much, all in one night, but it was what they had agreed… what they had looked forward to.

Her emotions were quickly stunted however as Reina dropped her bag on a shelf in the entryway and kicked her shoes off, running into the large living area atop the pristine carpeting. “Oh my god, Ai-chan!” she cried. “Look at this TV!!”

Fully jolted out of her thoughts, Ai meticulously slipped out of her own shoes and followed slowly into the room to find Reina staring with sparkling eyes at a huge flat-panel TV mounted to the wall opposite the seating.

Breaking out of her own trance, Reina desperately searched around before finding a remote control on an end table. She sighed blissfully as the lamp there flicked on by itself at her movement, and once again as she tossed her jacket over a chair and dropped into the couch to turn on the TV. Ai watched as she flipped through the channels, perusing the current offerings.

Reina flipped open her cell phone to check the time. “Ah! Our Music is on! Almost perfect timing…” She dropped the cell phone and remote onto the end table before sitting back to fix her eyes on the screen.

Taking a deep breath, somehow feeling amused, Ai carefully removed her jacket and draped it atop Reina’s before sitting quietly in the very soft, plush chair beside the couch. “So are you going to sit here and watch TV all night after we’ve just moved into our new apartment?” she asked the girl only a touch cynically.

Reina glanced her way and blinked as if surprised to see her there. “Oh, Ai-chan,” she said. Then looking longingly back at the TV, she picked up the remote and flicked it off. “I’m sorry. It’s just so… big… and nice… and big…”

“Yep,” Ai said, now appraising the screen herself. “It will be wonderful for my video games.”

Reina’s scandalized glare in return was priceless. Though of course, Ai could have reacted exactly the same. Watching grainy dramas was truly a waste of high definition, after all. Instead, she rose from the chair. Stifling a groan at leaving its comfort, she sidled in to Reina’s left on the couch and cuddled up to her, slipping an arm around her waist. This was much better than the chair.

She felt Reina tense up at the intimacy, and so rubbed gently at her right side in an attempt to calm her. “You don’t have to worry anymore,” she cooed gently. “It’s all over.”

“It is, isn’t it?” Reina asked, looking up into her face. “We’re here… and you’re not an idol anymore.”

“Mhm,” Ai replied, trying to nuzzle into the girl’s neck. “You know, it’s almost funny,” She really had been waiting for this so long. In her current exhausted state the girl’s scent almost felt intoxicating to her. “I always thought the first one I’d move in with would be Risa.”

Suddenly the girl beside her was tense again, and she began pulling away. “What did you say?” she asked in a low voice.

Ai blinked. “Huh?” She tried to think. What did she just say?

“You said you thought you’d be moving in with Risa.”

“Oh,” I replied. “Yeah. It’s just like… that’d seem so natural.”

“Natural,” Reina said, now fully extricating herself from Ai’s embrace. “Unlike it is with me?”

“What?” Ai asked, flabbergasted. “Of course not. But it is different with you.”

“So why’d you move in with me then?” Reina’s voice was monotone with each question asked, her firecracker mood certainly not seeming to improve.

Ai stared. Had the girl been holding this in the whole time as well, just like her tears?

“Well?” Reina pulled her legs up to her chest and hugged them tightly, crossing her arms as she peered sharply over them at Ai.

Ai took a breath. “Gaki-san’s my best friend,” she said carefully, making sure the right words came out. “We’ve been with each other for ten years now. It felt like we’d always do everything together.”

“Does it feel that way now?” Reina asked, tone unchanged.

Ai held her breath, searching for how to explain. “Well… I grew up.”

Reina’s eyes now narrowed into a more curious expression.

“Friends are great,” Ai continued. “They’re necessary. But who I want to be with, all the time, is someone that excites me. Someone that always interests me. Someone who gets me differently from anyone else.”

For the first time since she began questioning her, Reina broke eye contact, looking down as a light flush started in her cheeks. Ai reached out to touch her arm again, and felt a tingle at the touch of skin where she’d only felt denim before.

“I love Risa, but I want you, Reina,” Ai pleaded, gazing intensely into her face as she became more and more focused. “I feel like you’re who I want by my side also for those times I can’t just let loose and goof around. I feel like I want my life to be with you – when I’m asleep, when I’m brushing my teeth…” Now she looked down at the feel of a blush coming on, though it was something she wanted to get out. “…When I’m bathing…”

Reina looked back up at that, and watched her for a moment. When Ai wondered how long she could stand it, the girl let a thin smirk show. “Ai-chan,” the girl said playfully, “I think that’s the naughtiest thing you’ve ever said to me.”

Taking a deep breath, in no small part of relief, Ai smiled back at her. “The first of many I hope,” she said, letting a mischievous grin of her own show.

Then, with no warning, the girl let her legs drop and scooted over to Ai, gripping her shoulders lightly as she leaned in for a kiss. Ai, surprised at first, after a moment lifted her own hands to the girl’s waist as she returned the kiss before they pulled slowly apart.

They looked into each other’s eyes for a few seconds before Ai started looking around them again. “You know,” she said. “I still have the feeling that someone could pop up and see us.”

“But they won’t,” Reina said with a smile, and then her eyes looked past Ai for an instant before she stood up and brushed past her shoulder.

Ai turned to see the girl walk toward the curtained windows. She seemed confused at not finding anything to pull them apart with, and Ai glanced at the remote control Reina had left on the end table. Grinning, she picked it up. Finding what she thought she was looking for, she pushed the button.

A small squawk told her she’d chosen correctly, and the curtains hummed softly as they pulled themselves apart. Reina stared at them a moment before turning to Ai-chan. When she opened her mouth for a question though, it died at her lips as she turned back agog to the window.

Standing again herself after watching Reina just stare for a minute or so, Ai walked over to join her. She’d heard what to expect, but once again, seeing it herself took her breath away.

The night-time view of city lights splayed out below them, with the familiar landmark of Tokyo Tower pointing high above even the heights where they resided toward the far right. Below it was the dark patch of the park, but it was the lights of the buildings and the traffic on the streets below that mesmerized her.

“Isn’t this incredible?” Reina asked, apparently having had time to recover from the shock. “And I thought we’d stayed in decent hotels before…”

Ai just nodded.

“You know we’ll have this view every day and every night for…”

“For years and years,” Ai finished, and Reina turned to see Ai smiling at her. “But the view I’m enjoying right now is what I’ll treasure the most.”

When Reina blushed, Ai stepped forward to take her into her arms, and the two hugged each other tightly as they continued gazing out into the night. Reina held her desperately close, and Ai stroked the girl’s hair in a slow, soothing manner.

“Do you think you’ll really miss being an idol?” Reina asked quietly after who knew how long.

“Of course I will,” Ai said. “I’ll miss everything about it. But I’ll still be doing what I love.”

She felt Reina move, and pulled back to where they gazed into each other’s faces once again. “And who you love, right?” Reina asked, her lip twitching again.

Ai blushed. “Mou… You’re horrible.”

Reina leaned in to kiss her, and the two girls made out tenderly in front of the window, holding each other close the whole time. When they were finished, Ai glanced out the window tentatively. “You know, it almost does feel like we’re still out in public doing this right here. After all, we can see the whole city.”

“Yeah,” Reina replied, turning Ai’s face back to hers with a finger to her chin, “but they can’t see us.”

Ai looked into her eyes again, thinking about how she’ll be spending perhaps… hopefully… the rest of her life with the girl in her arms. She noticed there was something in Reina’s eyes, a question she wanted to ask. She had a feeling she knew what it was.

“There’s one room we haven’t checked out yet,” Reina said meekly. She was so cute when she was being shy.

“Oh?” Ai asked, as usual between them playing dumb.

She felt Reina picking at the back of her shirt, and the girl started chewing lightly on her bottom lip in nervousness.

“Reina,” Ai said, pre-empting the girl. The lip-chewing stopped. “Would you like to check out our bed with me?”

Reina smiled and nodded, and the two girls walked hand-in-hand to the bedroom. When they arrived, the bed they saw inside was larger than they’d ever seen before. It was made up precisely, the bedspread a stylish red and black pattern over white sheets.

Ai let go of the other’s hand, this amazing piece of comfortableness looking so inviting after perhaps the longest day of her life, and she crawled onto it before dropping to her stomach, her cheek on the pillow, and closed her eyes as she spread her arms and legs out on it to give herself complete relaxation. Even when she did that, she barely covered half of its surface.

After a moment she felt Reina apparently crawl onto the bed too, but instead of doing as Ai did, the younger girl crawled on top of her and used her as if she was a pillow. When she nuzzled her face into Ai’s neck to kiss it lightly, Ai rolled over to view the girl above her.

For a moment they just looked at each other again.

“So…” Reina said softly, nervousness showing in her eyes.

“So,” Ai replied just as quietly. She lifted her arms to wrap around the girl.

“I guess you’re tired, right?” Reina asked, doing a fine tap dance.

“Mhm,” Ai replied, smiling up at her girlfriend.

“Well I guess we should get some sleep then,” Reina said, and acted like she would roll to the other side of the bed. However, Ai held her fast above her.

The two girls stared into each other’s eyes another long moment before Ai pulled Reina’s head down and into another kiss. They made out again tenderly, intimately, as they had done a few times before in one or the other’s smaller bed. However, this was markedly different.

Ai coaxed Reina’s tongue out of her mouth with her own, and they explored each other. Eventually Ai’s hands began doing the same, and she moved one slowly down Reina’s body past her belt. She held it there lightly a moment as their kiss continued before finding the hem of her short skirt and pulling it up. It eventually overlapped her belt and Ai slid her hand back down over the girl’s thin, tight sweats. When she squeezed, the girl cried out softly in the kiss and reflexively spread her knees to either side of Ai’s legs, but when Ai dared to dip her fingers tentatively down between her thighs, she felt the girl tense and pull herself away from the kiss.

“I’m sorry,” Ai said, quickly pulling her hand out and dropping it to her side. “I got lost in the moment. If you don’t want to…”

Reina looked back at her seriously before shaking her head. “It’s not that,” she said. “It’s… You’re the first girl I’ve um… I’ve not had an um… girlfriend… before. Kissing you is one thing, but…”

Ai smiled. “It’s a little weird, isn’t it?”

Reina nodded.

“It’s okay,” Ai said. “We can take our time. We have plenty of it now, after all. Or even…” Her self-consciousness was getting to her again. “We don’t have to do this at all. I really just want you here with me.”

She stopped babbling when Reina laid a finger to her mouth. “I do too,” the girl said, now smiling herself. “Do you…” she swallowed, showing her nervousness again. “Do you want to have sex with me?”

Ai looked into her eyes a long while before finally nodding, amazed she wasn’t also blushing. “I want to love you, Reina,” she said intensely, ignoring the girl’s crudeness while at the same time loving it, before pulling the girl back down to her.

A while later, they lay beneath the sheet with the bedspread all the way at the foot, entwined in each other’s nakedness as they made out unlike ever before. When their lips parted, they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes amid shared pleasure and the heat and dampness surrounding them… as well as the fresh smell of everything else.

Unable to stop touching Reina, Ai leaned down into her neck to give it long, slow kisses. “So do you think you’ll be all right loving me?” she murmured as she kissed.

Reina giggled softly, and Ai loved feeling the vibration in her throat with her lips. “I think I’ll survive,” she said, and Ai felt her thin legs entwine to squeeze tightly around one of Ai’s own. “Although… do you think it’ll be all right if I tell everyone about us now?”

Ai stopped the kissing, though kept her face at the other’s throat. “It doesn’t matter to me,” she said. “I’m not an idol anymore.” She grinned against Reina’s neck.

Reina gave a quick growl. “You know I’ve got you in a very vulnerable position right now, right?”

Now Ai lifted her head up to look into the other’s eyes. They were still shining. “Somehow I think I’ll survive,” she said, still grinning.

Their giggles carried out into the night, twenty-eight floors above the ground. It was yet to be seen whether twenty-eight floors was high enough to find paradise.

The perfect ReinAi one-shot to cheer me up from the doom and gloom of Aichan's graduation. I was starting to feel very empty not only because she had graduated and is no longer part of the group, but also because I'll miss her interactions with other members, especially ReinAi. That was the most saddening part about Aichan's graduation, as unlike Eri who graduated for a break from the industry Aichan appears to intend to stay in the business and will at least keep on our radar.

Hope to continue to see ReinAi written by you :)

As a little different flavor  here's a little something I threw together for today. It doesn't actually take place for a few days yet, though I thought it'd be appropriate enough ;) (and this way any potential "other reality" hasn't happened yet to disprove it! XD)

"Sakura Chirari”

“Good morning!” Airi said brightly as she strolled in the back doors of Sun City hall. She knew exactly where to go today, and felt as if her spirits were lifted. She even woke up well this morning.

The staff murmured good morning to her as well, many of them returning her smiles before hurrying back to their duties. When she reached their dressing room, she noticed that Maimi was the only one there so far and working on her hair. Leave it to the members from Saitama to be the last ones to show up when they’re actually having a concert in Saitama.

When she realized she was alone with Maimi, she stopped dead.

After a moment, their Leader saw her through the mirror and smiled. “Ah! Airi!” she said with a beaming smile of her own. “Good morning! Did you sleep well?”

Airi nodded her head. “Mhm,” she replied simply at first, before walking slowly over to her chair. Once there, she focused pointedly on her cosmetic bag. “I even had time to finish up my homework, so I’ll have a free night tonight. I might get a full night’s rest.”

“Oh, you will?” Maimi asked, almost wistful-sounding. There was a silent pause after that, when Airi almost looked up, but eventually she continued, more brightly, “How was your first week of school, by the way? I know there were times at rehearsal those days when I just stopped and thought like, ‘I wonder what Airi’s doing right now… Does she like her new classes? I hope so…’”

That did make Airi look up, her eyes slightly widened. She forgot that she hadn’t actually talked to Maimi about school yet. With rehearsals made even more intensive than usual given the circumstances, and her being off at school, and every other way the two of them were normally kept busy, they hadn’t gotten the chance to talk like this again since…

“I do like them,” she replied, beaming back at Maimi through the mirror. “Though I’m already sad about missing art and history.”

Maimi chuckled softly as she ran a brush delicately through her hair. Airi watched the bristles as they slipped smoothly through the silky strands, so much like…

“You really are such a geek, you know,” Maimi said, teasing her.

“Airhead,” Airi shot back, grinning as she dug back into her bag.

“Kappa-lover,” Maimi replied, still sounding amused.

“Thank you,” Airi responded, mockingly polite this time.

“Airi,” Maimi said, sounding more hesitant this time, but Airi was distracted now. “About what happened in Hawaii…”

“Ow!” Airi grunted, after pricking her finger on her clippers and snapping it up to her lips to suck at gently.

“Ohayo!!” came a joint greeting from Nakky, Chisato, and Mai as they strolled into the room together before Airi had to look back up at Leader.

“You’re late!” Airi said in mock scolding, grateful for a change in subject. Three pairs of innocent eyes stared back at her.

“Kawaii na~” Maimi cooed, seeming to have recovered.

“Just because we’re not as punctilious as you two, doesn’t mean…” Nakky began as the three of them also moved toward their counters.

“You really shouldn’t keep using words like ‘punctilious’ you know,” Airi chided. “Nobody else may even understand you.”

“Hey!!” came three simultaneous voices yet again, Leader providing the one difference, but Airi just grinned and went back to her bag. However, she kept a view of said Leader in the corner of her vision. It seemed that once again, the two of them would not get to talk alone. Normally she would have enjoyed that, since she liked being around more people, but at this time there was something she definitely wanted to discuss with Maimi-chan as well. She just… wasn’t sure if she was ready for it yet. She wondered if she’d ever be…

“Aren’t the sakura so pretty?” came a voice from behind her. It was dark now, after their last live was over, and she had just left the venue. She felt almost completely worn out, knowing she’d sleep well tonight. However, she’d gotten distracted gazing up at the cherry blossoms in the small park within the Sun City grounds, and hadn’t noticed someone coming up behind her.

Airi thought she did a very good job of hiding the fact that she very nearly jumped out of her skin, and turned her head slightly to see Maimi-chan now also smiling up at the blossoms beside her.

“Most of them have started to fall now, though…” the girl said, lowering her gaze to the ground. It was littered with the pretty white flowers. Groundskeepers would probably clean them up overnight, but she wished they’d just let them stay there on the ground, for a while at least.

Then Maimi turned to look into her face. “Can we talk?” she asked lightly, gesturing to one of the benches beneath the trees. There were a few people around in the park, and they could see the outdoor photo vendors just outside the fence, but amid the trees and falling blossoms, the bench was still relatively secluded.

Airi nodded, and Maimi took her arm as they walked. After sitting down on the petal-covered bench, they both hugged their bags and looked up into the trees again, silence dragging on for a moment.

“I’ve said it so much before, but you’re really lucky to have your birthday in the middle of the sakura bloom,” Maimi said finally. “It’s surely auspicious.” She cast a wry glance in Airi’s direction. “That has to be where all your talent and beauty comes from.”

“Mai~mi~” Airi whined, nudging Leader slightly with her fist. “Stop embarrassing me.” Thankfully it was likely difficult to see her pinkened cheeks in the dim light near the ground.

“You know it’s true,” Maimi replied, looking up and smiling again, rocking back and forth a little.

“I feel like you’re flirting with me when you say things like that now,” Airi pouted, staring straight ahead.

“Oh?” Maimi commented airily. “Maybe I am.

“…Maybe I always have been.”

Airi was now very glad of the dim light.

“Are you saying Hawaii wasn’t something that just happened?” Airi asked in a quiet voice.

“You know, I’ve been thinking about that,” Maimi replied, as Airi blushed anew. “And I don’t think it could have been.”

Airi stole a peek at the girl, to see Maimi gazing back at her seriously. Seriously, but still cutely. In fact, maybe it’s Maimi-chan’s seriousness that was so cute in the first place.

“You don’t regret any of it… do you?” Maimi asked, still looking serious, but Airi saw another emotion as well. Fear? Desperation?

“I…” Airi began, but couldn’t continue.

She stood up, stretching beneath the trees, holding her bag in her hand as she swung her arms around.

“Do you?” she heard faintly behind her.

Airi froze, slowly letting her arms fall to her sides. A long moment passed before she finally responded. “…No.” She sat back down lightly, purposely not looking at the other girl. “Of course not.”

Then she felt soft fingers against her chin, and they gently pulled her face toward Maimi’s. That seriousness was still there, but to Airi’s great relief, the fear had been replaced by a light smile. She stared into dark eyes as their faces closed in, nearly touching; a tilt; then her lips met the softness of the other’s.

A few minutes later, and the two girls sat side by side, an arm around each other’s back, gazing up at the trees. “You know, it felt different in Hawaii, but back here… looking at the blossoms… Spring is really a season of beginnings, isn’t it?” Airi asked musingly.

“I love the spring,” Maimi followed happily.

“Me too,” Airi replied, and then the two girls looked at each other and giggled.

“We are so hopeless, aren’t we?” Maimi asked. “I don’t even know how we’re going to get by together.”

“Together?” Airi asked, peering up through her eyelashes. This time it was the older girl’s turn to blush. “Yaji-san, are you saying that we’re a couple?”

“Chissa will be so jealous, won’t she?” Maimi mused.

“It might give her something to think about…” Airi replied, pondering. “You know,” she said, staring past Maimi while she played with the buttons of the girl’s shirt. “Reading your blog posts lately, like from the other day, Chisato sleeping next to you, I know it’s totally innocent.” She was speaking in a rush. “But I can’t help but feel a little jealous.”

“You and I did sleep together a few nights in Hawaii too, you know,” Maimi countered, causing Airi to blush again.

“I know,” she replied. As if she could forget! “Still,” she continued, pouting. “I want my Maimi-chan to myself again some night.” Her last words faded into murmuring as she snuggled into Maimi’s shoulder and acted as if she would doze off.

“Some night…” Maimi said airily, still gazing forward in thought as she unconsciously brushed her fingers through Airi’s hair.

“Thank you for inviting us to this after-party!” Airi exclaimed as the members of ℃-ute began to file out of the restaurant. The ramen had really been delicious; the others didn’t lie.

“It was nothing,” Chisato said, brushing it off. “Thank Mai – she found the place originally.” She gave the girl she spoke of an odd look. “Went by herself, she says.”

“Mou,” Mai whined. “Why won’t anyone believe me when I say I do things on my own!?”

“Because you’re Hagi-san,” Nakky said with a grin.

“It’s because of you people I have to work hard to look mature,” the younger girl grumbled as they exited into the fresh night air.

“I guess we’ll see you later in the week, then?” Chisato asked Leader when it was time to split ways. “I’ll probably hang out with Mai around here tomorrow.”

Airi was going to respond, but at a funny glance from Leader, closed her mouth again. “I don’t know,” she said. “I was thinking of bringing Airi back here. Maybe we can all hang out as ℃-ute for once. That is, unless you wouldn’t like to.”

Three faces turned to her with wide eyes.

“Are you kidding??” Nakky said.

“Let’s do karaoke!!” Mai added.

Chisato just stared in plain, but very pleased, disbelief.

“It’s too bad we didn’t just plan for a hotel for you two, since then you wouldn’t even have to worry about coming all the way back up here for the day,” Nakky said thoughtfully.

“Well you know me,” Maimi said with a smile that made Airi’s heart beat faster. “I don’t always think of these things when I should.” Then she took Airi’s arm. “Anyway, we’ll see you guys tomorrow! I’ll mail you!” And they all said goodbye to each other and headed their separate ways, Maimi pulling Airi along with her.

As they walked, Airi kept looking up into her face. Maimi would meet her eyes, still smiling, before Airi would look down in embarrassment. This continued for a ways down the street until Airi finally said, still looking down, “You have some kind of plan, don’t you,” she stated, not in a question.

Maimi glanced innocently at her. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Ah! Here we are,” she said as she pulled them to a stop in front of a cake shop. “Dessert time!”

For the next hour or so, Airi was pleasantly distracted by the tasty desserts, though from time to time she glanced at Maimi when she thought she wasn’t looking, and when she remembered the girl must be up to something. Afterward, when they stood satisfied outside the shop, Airi said tentatively, “Well I guess we might as well head to the station then…”

Maimi didn’t say anything at first, smiling off at nothing, before glancing back at her. “I thought you said you wanted to spend the night with me?”

Airi opened her mouth, but nothing came out. Then, feeling her hopes fade, she mumbled, “Mother will be unhappy if I don’t get home soon…”

“Don’t worry about that,” Maimi said, her smile widening. “I’ve already contacted her, and said I’ll take care of you for tonight. It’s for our ℃-ute Day tomorrow, after all.”

“Yaji-san!” Airi almost gasped. “That’s very nearly a lie!”

“Well we will be having ℃-ute Day,” Maimi replied. “I just didn’t mention what would happen until then.”

Airi stared at her Leader, impressed for not the first time, and then her lips spread into a grin of her own. “And what do you plan to do with me until then, Leader-san?” Maimi just grinned and whisked her away.

The next morning, two very happy girls met up with their other three companions, and together they enjoyed a very superb ℃-ute Day indeed.

I wonder if anyone looks here anymore? I thought I'd post this here for old time's sake, though it has a bit of a companion piece posted elsewhere (a while back) too. I just felt like I needed to do this.

My One and Only

“Otsukaresama deshita!” Riho repeated seemingly endlessly as she walked through the halls backstage of the Budoukan. She poured all of her energy into it though, wanting to make sure and express her deep-felt feelings of gratitude to everyone that had supported her over the years.

When she reached the dressing room, she found the other girls had beaten her there – not surprising as much as she’d been caught up by greetings to pretty much everyone she came across – and they threw a small celebration for her along with a cake.

“Sayashi-san, Sotsugyou Omedetou”

The words written on the cake were simple, but she felt her eyes always drawn back to them up until they were broken up once she cut into the cake. She had a large piece of it with plenty of fruit on top, and chatted with the other girls as she ate. Fuku-chan and Maa-chan in tears as they stared already missing her, Zukki with her big smile as she stuffed her cheeks, Eripon and Duu acting cool, Harunan being geeky with the younger girls… all but one. She had noticed immediately that someone was missing, but didn’t mention it since she wanted to keep up the energetic and celebratory mood.

Eventually the girls broke off to tidy themselves up, and begin to head their separate ways, all the way down to Maa-chan who didn’t want to let her go. “Yasushi-san, samishii…” she kept whining, but Riho did her best to give the girl an encouraging smile. “It’s not sayonara, it’s mata ne,” she would say. “We’ve got a few more events these next three weeks until the 21st, er… 31st, too, after all.”

“It’ll be so busy though…” the girl kept protesting.

“Ma-ta-ne~” Riho repeated, and eventually the final girl also drifted off and left her alone with a few bustling staff members.

Riho took her time changing into her street clothes and arranging her own things, taking deep breaths as she attempted to fend off exhaustion like she didn’t think she’d ever felt before. Her mind still rung with the memories of the day, how nervous she’d been putting herself out there so much, how many things she could have done better… but soon she would try and turn it all off.

She slung her bag over the shoulder and headed out into the hall, trudging down it to the exits with only some faint “Otsukaresama deshita”s now at the staff who passed and bowed to her. It was deafeningly quiet compared to her day up until that point. Eventually, almost without her realizing, another, smaller, girl fell in beside her with her own bag over her shoulder.

“Sorry for not being at your party,” the girl said in a low voice. Riho’s breath caught. It seemed someone else had been crying, as well.

“It’s okay,” Riho replied in a quiet voice herself, lacking virtually all of the energy she’d exuded earlier. Saying goodbye to all the fans and the other members was one thing, but it really felt like she’d already said everything she needed to this girl, even before she first announced her graduation. “You’ve hardly talked to me like this since…” she began, but trailing off not needing to continue.

Instead of responding, she felt the girl hook an arm around her own. Riho flinched at the other’s touch, but let her pull her along a different hallway. They finally reached a different exit, out a side door near a part of the garden area, and when they reached some cover of vegetation, they sat down on the ground in front of a small fence. Riho looked up at the stars, only a few up high bright enough to see in the early winter mid-city sky. She was surprised she could see any until remembering they were at the edges of the Imperial park, where lights would be more limited.

“I guess it’s graduation year, isn’t it?” The other girl asked, and Riho glanced over to see her looking up at the stars also. “I graduated school in March, and though you’ve got a year of that left you’ve decided on one of your own…”

“I did,” Riho replied quietly.

The girl looked over at her finally, and Riho gazed back into Ayumi-chan’s eyes. “What happened to us, Riho-san?”

Riho took a moment to respond. “We grew older,” she replied candidly.

Ayumi-chan breathed a short laugh, and reached up to lightly touch the side of Riho’s face. Riho reflexively leaned into the touch before she caught herself. “Why does it seem you’re older now than I am?” The question was hardly more than a statement since Riho knew that more than anyone, this girl would already know the answer. Riho pulled away, and they both sat back with their eyes drifting again to the sky.

“Do you remember those first times we visited each other’s schools?” The girl asked. Like Riho could hardly forget. “Our trips to Dreamland, all those wonderful dinners…”

“Ayumi-chan…” Riho began, her voice becoming tight.

“I’m sorry,” the girl said quickly.

She remembered every moment she’d spent with the girl in the two years they’d dated. Between that and her work, it had been the happiest time of her life. For perhaps the first time she hadn’t felt quite so alone. Even so, early last winter Ayumi-chan had at last admitted frustration saying it was always so hard to know what Riho was really thinking, that even though they’d been together so long it was like she never opened up, always so focused on her efforts at school and at work.

Riho hadn’t known how to respond to that, so she shut down even further and the two of them began drifting apart. They still went on a few dates over the winter holidays, even spent a few nights together like their annual Christmas in Dreamland, but it was nothing more than a glimmering parade of detachment. Before Ayumi-chan’s high school graduation they broke it off completely, and Riho shut down even further only rarely hanging out with friends and redoubling her efforts at work.

In the long ensuing months she thought hard about her life and where she was going, and this fall finally made her decision.

“Was it me?” Ayumi-chan asked, and Riho’s widening eyes darted back to her. Before she’d often wondered if the girl could read her mind, but…

“No,” she replied quickly, and the girl looked at her. Riho’s eyes fell. “It was the decision I came to after lots of thinking about what I want out of life. It’s really what I’ve been telling people all along. Nobody believes me…”

“I believe you,” Ayumi-chan replied quietly. “But… I wonder if that’s what you would have decided if not for me.”

Riho replied with silence.

“Well we’re both going to be free now I guess, huh?” The girl said after a time, stretching. “Me from school, even though there’s still work…” She gave a soft chortle. “I suppose you’re kind of going the other direction, from work to school no? Studying English and dance. Any idea where you’ll go yet?”

“No,” Riho replied.

“Going off to learn who knows what kind of sophisticated dance in who knows what glamorous place… You just have to keep staying ahead of me, don’t you?”

“It’s not that,” Riho protested.

“It’s okay.” The girl giggled. “Don’t deny it, I know how competitive you are. You’ll accept nothing less than working the hardest, being the best.”

“I’m not,” Riho continued to quietly protest.

Ayumi-chan reached up to her face again and tilted her head to look into her eyes. “You saw all those fans out there today, didn’t you? Cheering your name. All those cameras, the members getting so emotional even though there are still some weeks to go. You are the best, you know.”

Riho stared into dark eyes a moment before shrugging away again to hide her blush, but didn’t protest this time.

“That’s why they fell in love with Riho Sayashi,” Ayumi-chan continued. Did she really have to keep going… “It’s why I did,” she continued in a much smaller voice.

“I’m sorry, Ayumi-chan,” Riho said, shaking her head, and for the very first time today she felt tears come to her own eyes. “If I was really all that great I wouldn’t have hurt you. If I was really that great I wouldn’t be stumbling my way alone through my life like I am.” She looked up into the girl’s concerned face, realizing her own eyes must be glistening with moisture but beyond caring at the moment. “Am I making another disastrous decision, Ayumi-chan?” she said, her voice now filled with desperation and fear, pleading to the girl beside her.

Ayumi-chan didn’t answer, just pulled her close, and Riho lowered all her defenses as her tears gushed forth against the girl’s shoulder. She sobbed, sniffed, and choked her tears in the arms of the person who’d meant more to her than anyone, until finally drawing away.

“I’m sorry,” she said once she could manage words. “I’m such a crybaby…”

“No you’re not,” Ayumi-chan said in an amused voice, though it seemed tight as well. Riho had thought she felt some dampness from the girl’s own tears as she wept herself. “You’re the strongest person I know.”

“Strong people don’t cry…” Riho retorted in her misery.

The other girl was silent a moment before finally responding. “A strong person is one who takes on pressure, takes on challenge, no matter how impossible the task seems. A strong person is a twelve year old girl who grabs the spotlight in an organization with such a tradition and history as Morning Musume, and elevates it to even another level as she bears all the pressure on her tender shoulders. A strong person is someone who feels confident enough in herself that she can say ‘There’s even more out there’ and decide to leave all of that behind to set off on a new journey. Someone who held every eye today at the Nippon Budoukan, smiling all the way through in her gratitude without letting anyone see what it all was really doing to her.”

“You’re seeing it…” Riho said softly, though her tears had faded as she pondered each of the girl’s words. When Ayumi-chan stayed silent though, she finally looked up to see the girl smiling caringly back at her.

“A strong person is someone who can trust someone enough to bare her soul to when she needs. Even when her partner too selfish to understand that.” As she finished, her smile adopted a sad tint, and Riho saw her eyes moisten again.

Riho stared back, at a loss at the admission from the girl beside her. “Were we just too young?” she asked.

Ayumi-chan’s smile fell into an awkward grin. “You’re starting to talk like an old lady,” she chided.

“Old man,” Riho chimed, coughing a soft laugh.

“Don’t forget hentai,” Ayumi-chan continued, though after more brief laughter from both of them a somewhat awkward silence dragged on.

“This is the only life I’ve known, Ayumi-chan,” Riho said finally, staring out ahead of her. “I pushed throughout my childhood. Pushed harder once I passed the audition. For nearly all seventeen years. I wonder if I maybe made this decision just to have it all over with, for once.” She looked up into her companion’s face. “Am I still too young?”

In response the other girl leaned toward her again, but instead of just holding her gently, this time she captured her lips in a kiss. Riho responded gratefully, though she knew her face must be like a wet rag by now. The touch felt so familiar, though it had been so long. After a moment they parted and just held each other close.

“Riho-san, that wasn’t…”

“I know,” Riho said quickly. As much as she desired that intimacy, she knew it was only fleeting. Even though she couldn’t presume on what all was to come.

“I do love you,” the girl said softly, barely a whisper.

Riho tightened her embrace. “I know.”

She did know that no matter what, she would always have someone to rely on. She smiled wistfully in their embrace, remembering all her teasing what seemed so long ago. They may not yet fully be adults, but they were certainly no longer such brash, youthful delinquents.

The next day when she walked in to practice, it was business as usual if maybe with a few more looks from her comrades. Business as usual at least, except for the bright smile she shared with Ayumi-chan for the first time since before the year when her life was to change forever. Seeing that smile made an idea sparkle in her mind as if yearning to be recognized, but during a break from practice the girl came first to her.

“Hey look at this!” Ayumi-chan said, offering her phone. Riho glanced at the screen and saw herself shouting into a microphone - it was a recording of a report of yesterday’s concert on one of the morning shows.

“Ah… hazukashii!!!” Riho moaned, hiding her face, and quickly glanced around to see if anyone else was looking. No one was, but they’d all still certainly see this and other reports soon if they hadn’t yet.

“Nee, Riho-san,” Ayumi-chan said, a flash of uncertainty in her voice.

“Mm?” Riho replied, peeking out between her fingers. When she saw the girl’s phone back down at her side, she dropped her hands.

“I was thinking… Christmas is coming up in a couple weeks, you know.” Riho blinked at how closely that echoed the thought she’d had. Was she saying… “I can hardly remember a Christmas I didn’t spend at Dreamland with Riho-san. We’ve gone the past three years… I thought… You know, if you really didn’t mind, just in order to keep a tradition alive of course…”

“Yes,” Riho interrupted suddenly.

Ayumi-chan blinked at her.

Riho smiled. “Yes, let’s go to Dreamland for Christmas. Together.”

Seeing the smile bloom again on Ayumi-chan’s face, Riho thought how amazing it was to still have this one girl at least by her side, no matter what came. As for fully becoming an adult… It would come too, and perhaps she was already there in many ways, but the rest could wait maybe just a little bit longer. The endless sky lay out far and wide before her.
