The Gomattou Thread (ごまっとう)
« on: January 04, 2010, 05:49:03 PM »
Gomattou

Gomattou (ごまっとう?) was a one-shot Hello! Project group, similar to the Hello! Project shuffle units, that released one single called "Shall We Love?". The formation of Gomattou was announced in October 2002. The idea behind the trio was an R&B style dance-based group featuring Hello! Project soloists Maki Goto, Aya Matsuura and Miki Fujimoto. Maki Goto functioned as the leader of the group. Gomattou released their one single "Shall We Love?" on November 20, 2002. Later all the three members did solo versions of the song which all had different arrangements. Miki Fujimoto's version was a more downtempo soul inspired version, and both Maki Goto and Aya Matsuura's versions were—like the original version—inspired by the productions of Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs.

I wish they had more songs.  One of my favorite moments was when they appeared on utaban.

My Gomattou story: I remember them as the first of the OMGASS NO THEY DID NOT FUCKiNG DO THAT units. Maki was still in MM, but a solo so they had to pimp this flat chested short haired soloist. BOOM!! History was born. Incredible song, flashy hammer pants making a comeback like only Tsunku can do.
Favourite Gomattou member: Maki
Favourite Shall We Love remix: That jazzy version, forget what it's called. Slows it down for some :sex:
Favourite Shall We Love solo version: The Maki version, just soulful and powerful shit.
A memorable performance: can't find any music station but this concert one was pretty dope

A picture that I like: I liked the CD cover, like they were feasting on Maki's lap

Other comments: ENCORE ENCORE!! With all these one shot units, let's have a go around again for old times sake.

Favourite Gomattou member: This is hard... but it has to be Maki, she was so cool!
Favourite Shall We Love remix: Gomattou - Shall We Love (Daemon Mix)
Favourite Shall We Love solo version: Miki's
A memorable performance: All their perf were amazing but I really like this video:

Too much awesomeness in one unit, of course it was too good to last! XD Three of the most memorable H!P members coming together for one of the best songs in H!P history...if you saw their appearance on Utaban I'm sure you can relate to Taka-san's dilemma of how difficult to really pick a favorite. The legacy did live on in other special one-time units and the GAM pairing/album, but all three ladies come back together just couldn't come to fruition, especially once Maki jumped ship to Avex.

With Maki going on hiatus next year and Aya teasing retirement, it saddens me that a reunion is a long way off from now, if even possible at all. :(

I really need to do my own remix of "Shall We Love" one of these days.
