I like her cover of 'I Need a Girl' more than the one by Taeyang :lol: All of her covers are so awesome, I just wish her company would let her move away from all this cutesy pop and into more ballads/acoustics, which are much more suited to her. I found out about her when I watched the video of her covering 'Kiss Me' by Sixpence None the Richer and loved her straight away. A real gem :yep:

Even though I'm getting tired of these remakes I think Good Day blends pretty well. Plus, I'm kind of glad IU is making a Japan Debut, mainly for that fact that it's a solo act.

^Ditto on getting tired on the remakes bit. I'd personally add Japanese originals to the list as well - most of the time they disappoint.
But I think this remake is pretty good and it seems they actually spent some money on the mv. It's like an alternative take of the original, this version being brighter and very pastel, with the original being darker and more "earthy"... I do prefer the original ever so slightly, but this isn't bad at all. People have pointed out her Japanese is a widdle bit off at times (jutto, ichumo etc) but that's hardly surprising.
All things considered, colour me amazed if she doesn't do well in Japan.

A: Erm ... If it's an easy conversation, sure. But I'm still lacking in the vocabulary department, so I still find Japanese difficult.

A: My Japanese teacher is really interesting, so I've been able to have fun in my daily Japanese lessons.

A: Yes. My favourite is 'Natsume Yuujinchou'. I like it so much, I was the one that suggested I sing the theme song at one of my lives (24th January, at Shibuya Bunkamura Orchard Hall). Also, 'Fruits Basket', or the one with the gyaru in an academy ... I forgot the title. *laughs* Even in Korea anime is broadcasted in Japanese, so it's useful for learning.
What made you aspire to be a singer?
Q: You've made the most use of your time, haven't you. When it comes to IU, you utilize your high register. Using advanced techniques to raise the key, your '3 stage booster' has wowed many. When did you realize your skill as a singer? Please tell us how you came to aspire to be a singer.
A: Since I was a child, I've loved music, but only when I was in my first year of middle school (~13 yo) did I think 'I want to be a singer'. I started my dance, singing and acting lessons the year after.
Q: Was that at the recommendation of those who heard you sing?
A: Oh no, I rarely sang for anyone. That was what I myself thought. The only people that heard me sing were my family. My dad loves to karaoke, so we'd always go together.
Q: That is to say, that's where you cultured this (singing) talent?
A: I think it was pretty good practise.
Q: In a way, your father was your singing coach?
A: *immediate response* No, no. My dad's no good at all. *laughs* He just loves music. *laughs* He's always so absorbed in his own singing, he didn't listen to my singing at all *laughs*
Q: He's a very individualistic person, huh?
A: Yep. He's really interesting.
Q: And then, continuing from fulfilling your dream as a singer with your Korean debut, you have also released a Japanese version of 'Good Day'. Like in the starting lyrics, this song is a catchy pop number that invokes a feeling of the blue sky, isn't it?
A: When I saw the lyrics to this song, I was reminded of the blue sky, and the cherry blossom trees.
Q: Do you do things like cherry blossom viewings in Korea as well?
A: Oh, yes. In the spring, we bring along some food, and sit under tree to eat. I've heard that in Japan you drink (alcohol) as well, but it's more picnicky in Korea.

A: No, I'm straightforward with my feelings. There's only the question of whether it went well or not, so you might as well, and at the same time let your feelings settle. Even if the first time was a 'no', it's okay! There's always a second time *laughs*
Q: Before one confesses, and even if its a refusal after, she can listen to this song and get back some of that power, no?
A: I think it's great for shy girls to listen to this song. It enables empathy. Confession is not a very hard thing to do, so I'd like (them) to pick up some courage, and give the other party their honest feelings. If there's really no way for her to use words to convey her feelings, then bring the boy to karaoke and sing this song to say 'this is how I feel'.

A: I have no idea about fashion at all. *laughs* I like cute things, but I prefer Japanese movies to fashion. I especially love (Studio) Ghibli films, so I want to visit the Ghibli museum. I like temples as well, so I'd love to go to Kyoto and go around visiting all the temples. I want to go to Disneyland. Of course, I want to do a concert!
Q: In any case, there's a line in 'Good Day', which refers to a wish. If there's one wish you'd like to see fulfilled, what would it be?
A: I want to be able to control time. With the teleportation afforded by a Time Machine, it'd be easy to travel to Korea and Japan!

The love song [PEACH] with the fragrance of spring
IU, as she celebrates her twentieth spring, is coming to her fans with a love song filled with spring fragrance.
IU is releasing her song "Peach", which she wrote herself, prior to the release of her new album [Spring of a Twenty Year Old] on the 11th. As the third song that she has written "Peach" has a loveable feeling completely different from the dark sounds revealing deep internal emotions in her previous songs, including "Hold my hand" and "A lost puppy". Acoustic sounds represent the excitement of a love just about to begin, portraying IU's fresh and girly emotions. The song was named "Peach" after IU's favorite fruit and word -- a nickname she wants to give to her lover to deliver the vibe she gets when pronouncing the word.
The lyrics, portraying the loving emotions felt just by looking at one's lover, combine with the calm yet sweet melody, getting us excited as though IU were confessing her love to us. The recorder and triangle sounds, performed by IU herself, add to the girly sentiments of the song.
The month of May is the time to indulge in IU's loveliness as she makes her come back with a new single and the short music film "Spring of a Twenty Year Old".

Peach is such a nice little song. Worth mentioning that IU composed and even played the recorder/triangle bits in it herself. Right before I noticed it was already released, I was about to post how I'd love if the song was a stripped acoustic thing, and it ended up being pretty much that. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the recorder(flute thingy) bit, nor the super sappy lyrics, but the song is cute (and not obnoxiously so) and her voice is sooo nice. Gotta say I love whenever she goes into the low whispery register. Purr.
Anyway, Peach was just a preview of her upcoming 3-song single "Spring of a 20-year old" (She's about to turn 20 in the Korean age system, might add) which will be released on May 11th. IU is not doing any conventional broadcast promotions for the single because she's concentrating on her national 6-city tour (which sold out in about 30 minutes) in Korea. Despite that, Peach got an instant #1 on every Korean music chart.

I'm so in love with Peach now, the song is so cute and simple and I just love it. It's so refreshing in a sea of overproduced pop (which I love the hell out of too, don't get me wrong) to hear such a simple arrangement that's so pure and naked. IU is the total package. Edit: now that I've actually watched the video.. I love every second of it! IU's sneeze at 3:45 is sooooo cute. Her eating the food listlessly... picking away the parts she doesn't like, adorable. A photo of Super Junior’s Eunhyuk shirtless and IU in her pajama’s is currently going around. The photo was posted onto her (IU) Twitter, (most likely accidentally) and then taken down within 2 minutes.
The photo shows Eunhyuk clearly, but only shows a part of IU’s face. The most shocking part is that the two seem to be lying on a bed, and that Eunhyuk has no shirt on.
Furthermore, fans have pointed out that the pajama is the same one that IU got from her fans, that she tweeted in the past. She tweeted it when she burnt her top after she tried to make ramen.

People like that aren't really real fans tho, I wonder if any of those people even buy CDs ?_? When you make a real commitment to be a fan (lol I make it sound so official) you don't easily ditch your favourite because of drama, but hope they can overcome it and if they did something wrong (like drunk driving or posting a stupid tweet) you hope they learn from it and become wiser people... "Fans" who just like a song or two seem to be the ones throwing the biggest insults when someone they only kind of like does something wrong. Because they don't lose anything by letting them go. The people I saw dissing T-ara were people who liked Roly Poly and shit, but weren't actually fans, so it's not like they were truly abandoning them. How can you abandon something you never had?
The way I see it, when scandals happen these groups/artists lose a lot of CASUAL fans who don't necessarily even buy their music (of course some casuals do and that's a loss, but not all do), and they gain a lot of vocal anti-netizens... But seriously, after all the backlash T-ara got on the Internet, were they actually boo'd (by a CROWD, not like 2 people) or attacked or severely cast aside? Nope, nothing that serious happened; after some pre-recorded shows they returned to doing live stages. Antis just like to run their mouths.
Especially because any sensible person understands that IU didn't actually do anything wrong, I sure hope things will be OK for her sooner rather than later. I don't actually worry about IU's fans, but SuJu fans...

Just read the news about that issue with her lyrics about "Zeze". I have mixed feelings about it. She probably didn't mean anything bad by it, but it does seem inappropriate to take a character that is an abused little boy and put him in a "sexy" context. They drew him wearing fishnet stockings and in a sexy pose on the cover lol. I dunno what they were thinking.

I didn't know of the book the character Zeze came from, so at first I thought it was just a weird coincidence, until IU responded saying she likes the book. I guess it's just a matter of confusion artist intent and audience interpretation. I'm not bent out of shape over this. Zeze might be my favorite song from the new album, controversy or not.

IU comeback is confirmed. The prerelease teasers are out. Full album coming on April 21st.
IU’s first pre-release track “Night Letter” is set to be released on March 24 at 6 p.m. KST. According to her schedule, she also plans to drop another track on April 7 before releasing the full album on April 21.
