No, it's not just her accent, you silly canuck. I'm absolutely amazed people are praising this track everywhere I look.

No-one is saying her voice is bad either, just that this particular song choice shows pretty much all the flaws in her singing technique. This is a hard song to impress with, people!

For example, she can handle another type of American pop song just fine:





Song choice, bitches. Record that instead. I love Aichan to bits but she naturally shouldn't be exempt from criticism.

Actually I find the vocals and song suitable for Ai in over the rainbow, what I don't like was the accent and how she try to sing.
It feels like she was trying to sing with a strong accent instead of something more natural like what she did with The Rose.



I believe if she sings in a studio and recorder Over the Lainbow, i mean, Rainbow it could turn out amazing.
Ai has a really good voice. She's the only with a true voice and a talented one. Unfortunately she hasn't receive the proper training.
Her vocals could do so much better.

Takahashi Ai, the complete actress

Without a doubt, the scene from Accidental Couple that was aired today could not have been done if it had not been Takahashi Ai doing it. I'm really glad that I asked her to dub in for Han Ji Soo (the female lead in Accidental Couple). At first I was worried about how difficult it would be as there were many unemotional scenes in the script that were a reflection of the real actress Kim Ah Joong (the actress playing Han Ji Soo). She (Takahashi) also thought that that it would be very difficult -- even though I thought the way she portrayed the pain Kim Ah Joong was going through was really awesome -- but it was also from that scene that we discover that Han Ji Soo = Kim Ah Joong = Takahashi Ai!!!

I hate to brag but not even professional seiyuu (voice actors) could have reached that level of awesomeness.

That's why I asked for Takahashi Ai-san. It wasn't so much about having the necessary skill and technique to pull it off, but something only she (Takahashi) had and could do, namely, that the essence of Takahashi Ai could reflect onto Han Ji Soo the character.

I have worked on many projects before, but such a phenomenon occurring has always been rare. Truly a rare case.

That is why I want to continue working on this project.

The image I had all the way until the moment I stepped into the studio was surpassed, my own personal imagination...this is the moment where production becomes reality.

And what is Takahashi Ai?

She is undoubtedly, the complete actress.

That Yamamizo guy is the producer. Such high praise. I hope that means Ai might get more offers in the future.

Now I really want to watch the Japanese dub of Accidental Couple. Anyone know where I can find it?

i don't mind Ai doing more dubs for korean dramas, i bet she loves it already ... and cool, producer praises are always a good thing

^Yup, I bet her Korean craze is being stoked by this.

Him praising her is definitely a bonus, because it might lead to future collaborations with him, and perhaps it might draw more attention from other quarters as well. A possible future as an actress is certainly not far away if that's the case. At least she'll still be around in the entertainment world in the event of...you-know-what. >.>;

I do find it strangely ironic that she was being praised for how she portrayed the pain of the character she was dubbing. The first thing that popped to mind was the thought about how emo she already is in real life, so it wouldn't have been that much trouble.

That also leads to another conclusion I've drawn from all the fics I've written starring her. No matter what she might actually be in real life, there's just something about her that remains a blank slate, that can be easily rewritten into anything you choose. It's kind of creepy and awesome depending on the context, but yeah...that part of her where the producer said...I can understand what it means to have Ai become the character, yet remaining herself. A singularity that is anything and everything. Hm. Interesting.

See, this is why Ai is my favorite girl.
