I personally don't like most filipino bands. Most of them tend to sound too much like Creed in Tagalog. >_>
You know what the Philippines needs? A new wave of Pop bands. Not pop as in popular but pop as in pop music. Or uh ... happy music that isn't novelty or otso-otso/pito-pito.
I'm currently obsessed with the song "Pag-ibig Na Kaya" sung by Christian Bautista and Rachelle Ann Go  It's got such a nice melody, and even though I can only understand half the lyrics, it's still great! Haha.
Pinoy ikaw ay pinoy
Ipakita sa mundo
Kung ano ang kaya mo
Ibang-iba ang pinoy
Huwag kang matatakot
Ipagmalaki mo pinoy ako
Pinoy tayo
:P
Do you know that the song was created for a Korean drama series showing here in the Philippines? It's called Princess Hours but you probably know it as Goong. And the song is Perhaps Love (english for Pag-ibig na Kaya, hehe) by HowlL and R&B pop singer J.
That's where I first heard the song actually XD Since I watch 'Princess Hours' all the time on ABS-CBN
Hmmm, I wouldnt call all OPM garbage now and days. There are a FEW good rock bands out there still. But for the most part, they still sound like the lead singer of E-heads and PArokya ni Edgar. those two bands will NEVER die. Awesome.
As for rap, I still think Gloc 9 is the sheit. I dont know if they have him on youtube, but I'm sure they have him on mypace. I dont do myspace, but I saw my sister search for him and a whole buncha Cali people hooked myspace up with Gloc 9.
Songs that I would recommend first and foremost is :
Simpleng Tao
Sayang
JOLOGS

kitchie nadal for da winn :P
kitchie nadal=sexy <____<
gloc 9 for rap purposes i guess is good
rock bands=sounds all the same XD, good songs to listen to but admittedly, the voices start to blend together and sound the same, although i like the songs
like i said, i haven't listened to pinoy rock all that much lately mostly slower more romantic oldies XD
kyla, d00de even...sharon cuneta XD
WOOT FOR DA OLDIE OPMS XD (even though i'm not...old..)
Holy crap, did NOT know there were so many Pinoys here (hey kuya azn~)
I still like OPM, I dont mind it. I just prefer Japanese and Korean music now. But I still bust out some Parokya, Kamikaze, E-heads, etc etc. But of course, they are all bought from the PI (we have a damn collection) beacuse no one uploads them from the internet. Oh well, its cheap in the PI anyway.

i don't know where to put this... hmmm
this is a short sample of my band's first single... this half of the song isn't as rock-ish as the other half...

March, in case you were unaware, is Women’s History Month. Los Angeles’ own, Bambu, leaks a song that takes a look at domestic violence from a personal perspective. The song speaks on his family history with violence in the home, as well as his own struggles with it, even touching on the normalcy of such violence against women in our own Hip Hop culture. For this one, DJ Phatrick stepped out from behind the turntables to produce, sampling Adele’s “Someone Like You.” A video is set to drop at the end of the month and the song will also be included on Bambu’s …Exact Change… re-release bonus EP, Short Changed, dropping on April 29, 2011 through Beatrock Music Label.
BACKED BY two years of research into the Philippines’ ongoing drug war led by President Rodrigo R. Duterte, Kolateral is a 12-track rap album that includes the numbers, the stories, and the effects of the war on drugs.
The album is created by Sandata — an artist’s collective which includes activist rappers BLKD and Calix, playwright and screenwriter Mixkaela Villalon, and researchers Nastassja Quijano, Abbey Pangilinan, and Ica Fernandez.
“Isasabuhay, mga salitang pumapaslang / Nakatago sa mata ng publiko ang makinarya ng pagtokhang,” says the album’s first single, “Makinarya.” The album not only lays bare the effects of the drug war but also force the listener to listen to the people whose relatives were killed in the ongoing war on drugs.
“Kolateral is a 12-track album featuring various Filipino artists, where each track is backed by real data and narratives on the Philippines Drug War. It is the product of two years’ worth of research and artistic collaboration. The data that informs the songs have been gathered from media reports and key informant interview at the front lines of the Drug War,” Ms. Quijano said in a Facebook post on June 13.
The tracks are not only poignant but stingingly visceral as in several songs, like “Makinarya,” one can hear gunshots and cries of grief. In “Papag” one hears a child talking about the death of his father at the hands of the police. “Distansya,” meanwhile, tells the real-life story of a domestic worker in Kuwait whose sick son was shot dead after being named a drug dealer.
“Sometimes they forget that we’re also humans,” Ms. Quijano noted in her Facebook post about the track, “Giyera na Bulag.”
“Real ‘numbers’ your face. ‘One corpse is already too many!’” she said about the track “Pagsusuma,” quoting a line from the song.
Kolateral is available for streaming and download on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. The album is also available on Spotify. — ZBC
