So I read in the newspaper today that the bronze medal that Canada recently got in women's short track speed skating MAY get upgraded to a silver!  Apparently the skater who took the silver MAY have had her skate up in the air (i.e. off the ice) when they crossed the line, and according to the rules, this would apparently disqualify her from winning the medal, as a skater's blades MUST be in contact with the ice as much as possible.

I watched that too. Why the hell she had to do it on the second last jump... if she would have waited to the last jump she would have still won the race.

Canada won 1 more gold and a silver in the men's skeleton.

So far Norway has 11 medals, Germany, Russia, and Canada 11 medals, and US 10 medals

Those South Koreans are pretty good on the short-track speed tracking. Especially the women, sweeping all three medals.

Traditionally, I think that the powerhouses in short track have always been S.Korea and Chinese Taipei.  To a lesser extent Canada has been up there too, especially in the team relays. Lately though we haven't had as many strong individual skaters as we used to have.  American short track program has been improving too.  Getting that Hailie Kim girl who left the S.Korean program definitely helps them too.

And as much as it pains me to say it, props to the Swiss men's hockey team for beating our Canadian boys.  The Swiss played an awesome defensive game. None of our guys could get any real decent scoring chances.  And the ones that they COULD get, got stonewalled by the Swiss goalie (not Aebischer, their other goalie). Kudos to you Swiss boys!

Of course you DO realize, THIS means war. :P

I'm happy that Canada is tied again in 3rd place with 13 medals. Hope that they win some more to move ahead of the US.

Sasha Cohen ftw!!
I'm annoyed with how much media Emily Hughes is getting. They keep talking about how she skated a personal best and everything. She ended up in like 7th or 8th place! Kimmie Meissner skated a personal best too, I don't hear half as much about her. Just cause Emily's sister won the gold, wow. Seriously, wtf.

It appears that these winter games have very low viewership in Canada. Just 4 more days to go and I think Canada won't reach its goal of having 25 medals.

Yeah, I haven't really been paying a lot of attention this time around. Sucky team, bad timezone and too much else going on.

Canada finished 1-2 in the 1,500 metre long-track speed skating event. :)

So thats 17 medals now. Canada is more of a winters olypmics type of country than the summer one.
