What I loved about Bender is his love of the word "ASS" ... esp. today's episode where they go to war against the Planet of the Balls and he was armed with the bomb that would detonate when he would say his favorite word.

My all-time favorite animated TV show... I'm so crushed it got cancelled. I bought Volume 3 of the DVDs and every time I watch I find something else new or funny in each episode. It's my newest treasured possession. :oops: Not to mention the commentaries are freaking AWESOME.
I now have crushes on John DiMaggio, Billy West & David X. Cohen like whoa. And maybe a girlcrush on Lauren Tom. Amy<3
So come on, any other fans in mourning like I am?

Haven't seen much of it to be honest. It was on a network that was against another network that had The Simpsons at about the same time, and the collosus that is the Simpsons shouldn't be messed with, so it got cancelled here fairly early.

I think Futurama was way better than the Simpsons, at least when they were showing both series here. But maybe it's just good that Futurama ended before becoming boring. Now it's always remembered as pure greatness in animation scene.

Yep, Futurama was great, not only because it was consistently awesome (with a few minor exceptions), but also because it actually felt like it was going somewhere...

Yeah I know it's been a few years but they've been playing it every night on Teletoon and I just forked over 50$ for the 3rd boxset of DVDs.
I love that the finale was left open-ended as well... Billy West (voice of Fry/Zoidberg/Farnsworth/Zapp) has said that they're in talks to do some direct-to-DVD movies... I so hope that's true.
My alltime favorite episodes... hmmm...
Hell is Other Robots: MUSICAL! MUSICAL! The Robot Devil was one of the greatest reoccuring characters ever.
A Flight to Remember: The Titanic episode. Oh man one of my favorite S2 episodes.
Anthology of Interest 1: Impulsive Leela, Al Gore, and giant Bender. Classic.
Love & Rocket: Where Bender dates the Planet Express ship. "This concept of "wuv" both confuses and infuriates us!" LMAO I <3 Lrrr.
The Sting: Once I finally figured out what the fuck was going on... AWWWW.
But seriously I think there were only about 3 episodes I didn't absolutely love. And even those episodes had those jokes that just crack you up and don't make the episode a total waste of time. And the voice actors are so freaking talented it's INSANE.

Really? It's not for me. o.O;; Last ngiht @ 8 it was Hell is Other Robots, then at 10 it was Obsoletely Famous, which was a Season5 episode.

The episode I hate hate hate is Jurassic Bark because it is so depressing that I want to die. Seriously. While The Sting, Luck of the Fryrish & Leela's Homeworld were sad, they also had funny parts. Jurassic Bark just ripped my heart out and stomped on it with Leela's boots (the ones with the crazy green stripe on them) and made me bawl and feel thisbig.

finally rerunning 2003/2002 seasons again. I never seen these ones. Teletoon East does rerun same ep. 3 times in one night.
The Fry dying was a good one. They probably gonna hook up in the end huh?
I did love the return of Nibbler and his planet. The reason Fry is so dumb and immune to the Brains was his "...past nastification" XD XD

Like DJ Vikitty said, they want to make three Futurama straight to DVD movies, over the next few years. The last I read they were still negotating their budget with FOX, but IMDB says it's in production (even if they aren't always right). Lets all cross our fingers!

Ah yeah...I loved today's episode. (I think I saw it, but just the last 10 minutes) Bender goes on TV as himself and he was stealing and drinking. then they Prof. and Hermes started Fathers Against Rude Television ... oh man, I was laughing my ass off for hours.
the other best part was when Calculon said "That's great! Spice a reacton shot of me and air it!" after Benders rant about spending more time hitting our children ROFL! :lol: :lol:

Calculon is AWESOME. I have so much love for Maurice LaMarche, especially since he spends the entire commentaries claiming that "Morbo sounds nothing like Lrr or the Horrible Gelatinous Blob," and "Calculon sounds nothing like the announcer from Tales of Interest."

"Three months ago, I would have said we were going to start tomorrow," says writer David X. Cohen, who collaborated with Groening on Futurama. "And one month ago I would also have said we were going to start tomorrow. So ..." He pauses. "My current estimate is that we're starting tomorrow."
A return to television or, better, a direct-to-DVD feature would be a natural transition for the show, Cohen says. "The more seriously we took the epic nature of the setting, the better the episodes turned out. For that reason, we always thought that would bode well for a movie because then we could take that to its extreme and do something we couldn't do in 22 minutes."

Zapp's manskirt. In the commentaries for several Zapp=centric episodes, David X. Cohen talks about how Matt Groening would always make a note on the storyboards to "raise the skirt line." And then Billy would cut in (as Zapp) with "My MANskirt!" So great.

Futurama could follow in the footsteps of Family Guy and re-enter production more than two years after it was axed, Variety reports today.
The animated series, brainchild of Simpsons creator Matt Groening, ended after four produced seasons amid lacklustre ratings and broken scheduling on broadcast network FOX.
Since then the show has found a new audience on the Cartoon Network, where it ranks as one of the channel's highest-rated series.
Production studio 20th Century Fox TV is in "early discussions" to create a "limited number" of new episodes, the publication said, although it is still unknown where - or how - they may air.

BACK TO THE FUTURAMA: Variety is reporting that 20th Century Fox TV is in early discussions to go back into production with Futurama, the Emmy-winning animated series which ran on Fox from March 1999 to August 2003, giving it a Family Guy-style resuscitation. Based on the misadventures of Fry, Leela and Bender, Futurama is set in the year 3000, at which time Lindsay Lohan will have stopped making "news." But until then....

During a supernova explosion, Fry uses the Planet Express's microwave oven, and the two forces collide, they are sent back to 1947. They crash in the desert outside of Roswell, and Dr. Zoidberg and Bender's headless body are imprisoned and taken to a military base, where Fry's grandfather is stationed. The Professor and Leela work on how to return to 3002, while Fry and Bender's head try a rescue at the base and make a contact that might put Fry's own existence at risk.

To Bender, falls the unenviable task of replacing Santa and discovering the wrath of yuletide cheer, until Santa returns and makes Bender his partner in Xmas crime.

Futurama Returning With New Episodes in 2008
Here's some good news for Futurama fans. In a deal with Comedy Central, new episodes of the series are set to begin production and start airing in 2008.
Comedy Central has resurrected the former Fox animated series from "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening and David X. Cohen. At least 13 new episodes will be produced for the first time since the series originally ran from 1999-2003. New and old episodes will begin airing in 2008 on Comedy Central. Actors Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio have agreed to return as voices for "Futurama."
Best of all about the renewal is that it spawned an inspired new idea from Seth MacFarlane: Future Guy! It's like Futurama, but everyone's stockier, there's a talking dog, and people make snide comments like this about it to get into arguments about which is funnier.

Comedy Central is going back to the Futurama.
Three years after the show last aired on prime time, the cable net has signed a deal to resurrect the former Fox animated series for a minimum 13-episode run.
Comedy Central will start airing the new shows in 2008.
"We are thrilled that Matt Groening and 20th Century Fox Television have decided to produce new episodes of Futurama and that Comedy Central will be the first to air them," said David Bernath, the cable net's senior VP.
The new episode order is part of a larger deal Comedy Central made with the production company last year, when they bought the syndicated rights to Futurama's 72-episode library.
"There is a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience, and it is great that we can offer them not just the existing library but something they've never seen as well," Bernath told the Hollywood Reporter.
The offbeat show was the brainchild of The Simpsons mastermind Groening and writer David X. Cohen and debuted on Fox in March 1999. The series revolved around Fry, a pizza delivery boy who is accidentally frozen for a thousand years. When he wakes up in the year 3000, he befriends a sassy one-eyed pilot, Leela, and a cranky robot, Bender, who both work for an intergalactic delivery service run by a distant nephew of Fry's.
In August 2003, after five seasons and three Emmys, including the 2002 award for Best Animated Series, Futurama was canceled due to low ratings.
Reruns of the show, however, were picked up by Cartoon Network, and just like cable home did with Family Guy before it, the move paved the way for a Futurama revival.
Both shows aired on the Cartoon Network and quickly built up unexpectedly robust ratings.
In 2004, Stewie & Co. were resuscitated by to Fox thanks to staggering DVD sales--the show ranks as the fourth-biggest TV series seller ever--and its proliferation in reruns.
In January of this year, 20th Century Fox began talks with Comedy Central to revive the long-gone Futurama as well, thanks to its resurgence in popularity courtesy of its second life in reruns and high--though not Family Guy high--DVD sales.
The cable net has already re-signed voice stars Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio to reprise their animated roles.
In the meantime, new Futurama plots can already be had in comic book form, with Groening's Bongo Comics releasing the stories.

Six years after getting axed by Fox, Futurama is being resurrected on Comedy Central. A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox Television confirms that the cable net has ordered 26 new episodes of Matt Groening and David X. Cohen's late, great animated series to air beginning in 2010. The studio cites Futurama's "blockbuster" performance on DVD and in reruns on Comedy Central as the reason for its rebirth.
Hmmm... sound familiar? "When we brought back Family Guy several years ago, everyone said that it was a once in a lifetime thing -- that canceled series stay canceled and cannot be revived," 20th Century Fox TV Chairmen Gary Newman and Dana Walden said in a joint statement. "But Futurama was another series that fans simply demanded we bring back, and we couldn’t have been happier when Matt and David agreed that there were many more stories yet to tell."
Adds Groening: "We’re thrilled Futurama is coming back. We now have only 25,766 episodes to make before we catch up with Bender and Fry in the year 3000." I have a hunch Groening isn't the only one doing a happy dance.

I f'ing love Futurama.. I have the 4 dvd boxes, which are great. The series were complete.. every character went through a certain change:
Ami and Kiff got together
Leela found out where she came from
Fry and Leela were getting close at the end of the last episode
Zoidberg discovered money doesn't buy happiness
etc etc etc
The first movie was ok, because it kinda fitted in with the rest of the series (story line wise). The latest three movies did not and they kind of sucked. For example, in 'the beast with a 1000 backs', all of a sudden Fry has no interest in Leela anymore and dates that random new character. wtf!
Looking at The Simpsons, the level went downhill with huge steps the last seasons. It's like they continue the series, just because they can. The voice actors always stated 'we'll keep making them, as long as it's good." They lied.
So I reaaaaally hope they won't screw up the new futurama episodes.. but I'm not counting on it. :smhid
