Prolouge
Along the long stretch of canal surrounding Toukyou TV Station building, two teenage girls were strolling, pausing occasionally to enjoy the cool gentle breeze .
“So it’s been decided?”
“yes…”
“Does it have to be this way?”
“Aren’t you happy for me?”
“I am… demo…” one of them stopped and turned away to face at the canal, but seeing rapid water gushing through the canal did not help to calm down her emotions at all…
“It’s always been my dream, you know about it”
“What if I want you to stay?”
“You are against it? Since the day I joined it’s been my dream to do it…and... you know it...”
“but we will be seeing less of each other…”
“oh, come on, I’m still in Helloporo”
“so your dreams is more important... than me” the last two words was spoken so softly that it sounded like a mumble...
"we'll always be the best of friends, so it doesn't matter even when we are each pursuing our dreams, right?"
"mou ii yo..."

(HELLOMONI filming set)
Kantoku: “CUT! Alright minnasan, gokurosama deshita!”
“otsukaresama deshita!” said the members of M0rning Musume. They had just finished filming a new episode of HELLOMONI.
“tired?” asked Yoshizawa
“nope, lucky everything was smooth and it ended early” said Gotou
“you’re right, it’s still early, why not we go out for dinner later?”
“ii yo… but I already promised Kei-chan to hang out with her later…”
“daijoubu dayo~ we’ll go together, how about it?” asked Yoshizawa.
“Tsuji! Kago! urusai!” Their conversation was interrupted by Yuuko screaming at the top of her voice because just as soon as the director stopped the filming, Tsuji and Kago were back to their mischievous antics, giggling and poking fun at almost everything around them.
“Abe, as a senior, shouldn’t you keep those two in hand rather than to play along?”
“ne.. kasan… can you hear me? Help me, I’m being bullied.” Abe was speaking into her wrist as if there was an invisible transmitter on it, obviously turning a deaf ear to Yuuko’s words.
Tsuji and Kago were so amused by what Abe did that they burst out laughing
“ii na~ Abe-san, kore ga saikou!” exclaimed the two
“it’s good right? Haha, just as I thought” Abe was gleaming at herself, proud of the fact that she was in fact a joker herself.
“what the hec..”
“suimasen, Nakazawa-san, Tusunku-san will like to see you in the office.” a staff walked in and told Yuuko
“Alright, I’ll be there in a moment.” replied Yuuko and then turning to the rest she said “ok, hurry back to the gakuya and pack up, try to be home early and have a good night rest, another busy schedule tomorrow, everyone got it?”
“YES!”
As Yuuko walked hurriedly along the corridor, she could not help thinking what Tusunku would be telling her… masaka… the time had come…

(GAKUYA )（楽屋）
“ne.. yossi, so where will we be going to later?” quizzed Ishikawa
“eh..?”
“I said where will WE be going TO later?”
“ EH !!” Yoshizawa stared big-eyed at Ishikawa
“naniyo!!!” Ishikawa was getting abit pissed with Yoshizawa’s look
“Have you forgotten? Last week we arranged to go out today.”
It dawned on Yoshizawa that she did promise to go out with Ishikawa today, how could she be so careless and had forgotten all about it. Suddenly also remembering her dinner date with Gotou, she took a quick glance at Gotou, only to see her zipping up her bag with great force, swung it over her shoulder and said “Kei-chan, I’m ready, I will wait for you at ground level, be quick ok?” when she finished her sentence she walked right out of the room not even bothering to look at Yoshizawa.
Yoshizawa stay glued to the ground, obviously Gotou had heard what Ishikawa had said and must be fuming inside. Yoshizawa was cursing herself now, why she was so silly to get herself in such a tight spot, if only she had a better memory and remembered she had already promise Ishikawa. Now she did not feel like going anywhere except to get home, take a good shower and plunge to bed right away.
(in a certain restaurant)
“so you liked our new single?”
“…”
“It’s been chosen as the theme song for Toukyou TV coverage of the Olympics”
“…”
“Gotchan!” Yasuda waved her hands in front of Gotou’s face.
“uh-huh?” Gotou was caught off guard.
“What’s wrong? Something’s been bothering you?”
“no…”
“Don’t lie to me , even on our way here, you hadn’t been yourself.”
“no, I’m alright, really” Gotou defended.
“You ain’t even touching your food, come on, say it, maybe I can help.”
“ano…” Gotou hesitated…
“come on” Yasuda urged.
“well… just being curious.. but have you ever been in love?”
“ha ha~ yappari!”
“what!” Gotou protested.
“so you are troubled by it ya?”
“No! didn’t I said just now that I am just being curious?” Gotou’s face turning red as she said it.
“Alright… I won’t tease you anymore… Well.. no… I have never been in love but during high school, there is this guy I liked…”
Ring…Ring… Their conversation was interrupted by Gotou’s keitai ringing. Gotou took a look at the keitai’s screen but decided not to answer it.
“not answering?” Yasuda asked
“don’t know this caller, maybe it’s wrong number, leave it…now back to our topic”
Ring … Ring… This time it was Yasuda’s keitai ringing.
“it’s Yossi… moshi moshi.. hai… yossi hai…yes we are together… at the restaurant around the corner… ok…. Ok..bye!” and turning to Gotou “Yossi said she’s coming over to meet us.” There is a sudden glow in Gotou’s eyes. “where were we?” Yasuda continued, however Gotou was not paying attention anymore, her eyes were fixed at the restaurant’s entrance anticipating Yossi’s arrival “you know, Gotchan, I feel it’s better for us to concentrate on our careers now as…”
“she’s here” Gotou could not help keep her excitement. Before Yasuda could turn back to look, she felt a slap on her shoulder.
“Yo! Check it out chou! What your doing Kei-chan?”
“Cut it out! You think you still on Hellomoni?”
Yoshizawa pouted her lips, disappointed that Yasuda did not appreciate her sense of humor, however there was someone else who was totally enjoying it.
“thought you’re supposed to be with Rika-chan?” Gotou asked as Yoshizawa settled herself comfortably into a seat besides her.
“she dumped me!”
“uh?” Yasuda and Gotou looked equally puzzled.
“haha…omoshirokunai? okay, it's not... Her mum called up, something urgent so she need to head back and therefore no time for me~” Yoshizawa grinned.
After Yoshizawa joined them, their conversation liven up as they chatted on being in Putchim0ni, their scheduled trip to Syndey and the occasional gossip on Mayumi-san, their dance choreographer and teacher. Time passed fast and it was getting late, they bid each other farewell and took a cab home respectively.

Your writing's very good. I especially like how you have some Japanese included in it. But could you include the translation in brackets?
Then readers can learn Japanese while enjoying your story.
Oh and I can't wait to read more. I'm assuming Maki likes Yossui?

(AISAGA filming set)
The members of M0rning Musume in groups of 2 and 3 were chatting while waiting for the filming of the promotional video of their latest single, a staff went around filming with a handycam in hope of capturing some funny moments which would then be shown on TV as ‘behind the scenes’ screen shots. As usual Tsuji and Kago were creating havoc and bringing laughter and sometimes headaches to their seniors with their ingenious acts of mischief. However, not everyone was having fun, someone in particular was sitting solemnly in a corner as she watched two of her friends flirted in front of a camera…
“watashi otoko da ze” (I'm a guy)
“watashi otoko da ze” Ishikawa mimicked
“chigau, anta wa onna deshou?” (wrong, you're supposed to be a girl)
“watashi otoko da ze” Ishikawa continued speaking into the camera
“kanojo boshuu chuu… please apply here…” (looking for girlfriends...)
“Then what about me?” Ishikawa protested
“Don’t listen to her.” Yoshizawa looked straight into the camera and said “she’s just a friend.”
“Yossi… I thought we’re always lovelove together?” Ishikawa pulled Yoshizawa’s arm and sulked.
“Oh, mine…” Yoshizawa looked lovingly at Ishikawa and decided to give her a hug, drawing screams of delight from her…
…at one corner, Gotou felt a tight grip in her chest…
After hours in the stuffy studio, the filming finally came to an end.
“So my ‘boyfriend’ want to accompany me after work? Let’s go shopping?” Ishikawa asked.
“Eh…” Yoshizawa looked around the studio, hoping to catch a glimpse of Gotou.
“Come on, you already turned me down yesterday, running off even though we had a date.”
Yoshizawa was hesitating and her eyes scanned through the studio “Where actually is Gotchan?” she wondered.
“I don’t care, let’s go!” Ishikawa pulled Yoshizawa by her hand and dragged her out of the studio. Without any choice, Yoshizawa followed reluctantly.
(somewhere in the city)
“Isn’t this dress nice? Should I buy it?”
Yoshizawa gave a slight nod.
“Wanna get one for yourself too?”
“No way! It’s too pink for me… besides I think no one can look as good as you in pink.” Yoshizawa joked.
“Really?”
Yoshizawa nodded again.
“Oh… that’s so sweet of you.” Ishikawa smiled ‘but on second thoughts, I don’t think I am buying it and I think we should leave this place now…”
“nande? hoshikunai?” (why? don't want it?)
“no… but you look around us, I think we’re being recognized already.”
Ishikawa was right, a few shoppers had noticed the two celebrities and had been scrutinizing the unsuspecting youngsters.
“kowai… naa~~”
“Let’s go then…” Ishikawa let out a giggle.
Together, holding hands, both girls left the shop briskly. As they stepped into the main street, they consciously pulled their hat down and adjusted their shades, surely they would not want to be recognized again.
“Looks like it’s getting harder for us to walk the streets freely…” Ishikawa complained.
“Well… I think it’s a small price you gotta pay in exchange for fame…”
“But even famous people need their space and freedom…”
“Life’s like that ain’t it? You gain something, you’ll lose something. Heaven’s fair…”
“You think there’ll be a day we will get mobbed by our fans?”
“Haha! Rika-chan, I think you think too far, we’re not Hamasaki Ayumi you know~” Yoshizawa retorted.
“NANI YO!” Ishikawa raised her voice.
Sensing that Ishikawa was unhappy with her blunt remark, Yoshizawa tried to change their chatting topic “by the way, have you packed your luggage for the Sydney trip?”
Ishikawa remained quiet.
“mou… mou…” Yoshizawa softened her stand “If one day, you will get mobbed, you know I’ll always be there to protect and shield you, right?”
“Don’t worry, your service won’t be required, I WON’T get mobbed since I am NOT Hamasaki Ayumi!”
Yoshizawa rolled up her eyes, she hated situations like this. Sometimes Ishikawa was quite sensitive and she read too much into casual comments, and then it would become a chore to talk to her because every words had to be filtered through the mind before it could come out of the mouth. And whenever things turned out this way, Yoshizawa would just stop talking altogether.
Tension built up in the air as both girls proceed aimlessly down the shopping streets. Yoshizawa tried to appear nonchalant with deliberate acts of paying more attention to passer-bys than on Ishikawa, which further pissed Ishikawa.
A few more minutes of silence went by… Yoshizawa could not take it anymore, she knew Ishikawa was very obstinate, whenever they had conflicts; she was always the one who had to give in.
An idea suddenly hit Yoshizawa, she took a few quick steps forward, got in front of Ishikawa and started to imitate the actions of a bodyguard trying to protect her client from an imaginary mobbing crowd.
“Back off, back off~” Yoshizawa shoved her hand in the air.
Ishikawa broke into laughter “Haha, Yossi… hazukashii yo…people are staring.” (it's embarassing)
“maa ii deshou~ as long as it can make you smile. I can do it again if you want me to…”
“no! haha… I’m sorry, I was being petty just now.” Ishikawa apologized
“daijoubu da yo.” Yoshizawa smiled. (it's alright)

Gotou checked her keitai… for the umpteen times…nope… there were no messages for her… her keitai was as quiet as the street. She had left early just now. When the filming ended, she headed straight for the gakuya, grabbed her stuffs and walked out of the building, she wanted to avoid someone yet now how she longed to hear from that someone, it was ironic.
“Why am I thinking of her?” when Gotou asked herself this, scenes of Yoshizawa and Ishikawa teasing in front of the camera floated up in her mind and she felt the similar gripping pain in her chest again.
“Am I being jealous?” Gotou was confused… “Why do I feel jealous? Have I fallen in love? No… it’s so weird…”
Gotou’s head was throbbing, this question had been bothering her for sometime now. When did it start, how? Gotou could not remember, she only knew that whenever she was with Yoshizawa, she felt happy, she enjoyed talking to Yoshizawa, she enjoyed listening to Yoshizawa and even when they were doing nothing, as long as they were together, she felt blissful.
“Maybe good friends behave like that…” Gotou tried explaining to herself “I cared for her as a friend, not because I like her…”
Gotou stopped in her track, she knew she could not lie to herself anymore… there she was, carrying a bag of bagels… unconsiously, she had routinely walked into a bakery and bought them while she was deep in thoughts…and bagels are Yoshizawa’s favourites …

(GAKUYA )（楽屋）
Yoshizawa pushed open the door of the gakuya. The room was quiet and empty except for the figure of Nakazawa sitting on the couch reading a book.
“Nakazawa-san ohayou.” Yoshizawa greeted.
“Oh… ohayou.” Nakazawa replied without looking up.
Yoshizawa walked towards her dressing table, she never really had anything to talk to her leader besides the usual greetings. Yoshizawa was surprised to see two items on her table and a small note that read ‘enjoy your breakfast’. Yoshizawa smiled, even though it was not the first time Gotou had brought breakfast for her, nevertheless she was touched by Gotou’s kind gestures.
Yoshizawa took out her keitai and messaged Gotou ‘asagohan arigatou, ima doko?’
There was still no signs of Gotou as Yoshizawa took one last sip from the bottled milk, by then the room had liven up as more members had turned up for today’s dance training.
“Yossi, ohayou.” Ishikawa said as she approached her table which was next to Yoshizawa’s.
“Ohayou~ Rika-chan, have you seen Gotchan?”
“Yep! Saw her near the vending machine.” Ishikawa replied.
“Oh good.” Yoshizawa stood up with the intention of going to find Gotou.
“TSUJI ! KAGO! where are you two going?” Nakazawa asked.
“Toilet.” Both girls answered in unison.
“No! Get back here, manager-san will be here any minute.” Nakazawa demanded.
“hai…”
Sure enough, there was a knock on the door and M0rning Musume’s manager walked into the room, followed by Gotou.
“Good Morning everybody.” The manager said.
“Good Morning.” The girls greeted back.
Gotou walked towards her table.
“Thanks for the breakfast.” Yoshizawa gave Gotou a wink.
“Don’t mention it.” Gotou smiled back.
“Quiet please…” Nakazawa reminded the girls as the manager took a step forward to talk.
“Girls, here is the schedule and breakdown of your Sydney trip. We’ll be covering parts of The Olympics and since we will only be there for 3 days, it will be hectic and most importantly, everywhere you go, there will be cameras following you… so please…behave and carry yourself well.”
All members nodded.
“Be informed also that there will be this special segment called ‘neoki dokkiri’. Two hosts will barge into your room while you are supposed to be sleeping…” almost immediately, the manager’s talk was interrupted by the girls’ screeches.
“DAME~” Yaguchi protested.
“Haha… Don’t worry.” The manager laughed. “That’s why I am here to inform you all beforehand, just make sure you are all in proper attire when you get waken up, get my meaning?”
The girls laughed. Of course they knew what their manager meant. Some of the girls had the habit of sleeping naked and surely they would not want to be caught doing that on television.
“Gotou, Ishikawa, Yoshizawa, Nozomi and Kago, this will be your first trip overseas, so please read the guidebook and do check your luggage against the checklist, ok?”
“hai. wakarimashita.” The five girls answered.
“Alright that will be all. Dismissed.” With that, the manager left the room.

After the door closed, the room transformed into a chaotic mess of chatters.
“yabai ne…” Yaguchi screamed.
“un… hontou ni yabai…” Iida agreed.
“how can they be doing that? Barging into our privacy…” Abe was disgusted.
“woo~ Yuu-chan you will be caught naked~~” Yaguchi teased Nakazawa.
“Ya ya ya … like you never seen me nude before. What’s the big deal and I have seen all of you in NUDE too.” Nakazawa said in deadpan tone.
“iya da, that’s disgusting to say…” Abe blushed.
“URUSAI.” It was Nakazawa trademark response whenever she felt that her authority was challenged.
“You think Tsuji and Kago will be spared? They are only twelve this year… still kids you know…” Yasuda wondered.
“kimochi warui ne…” Ishikawa whispered to Yoshizawa and Gotou as the 3 girls had settled back into their corner at the dressing tables.
Yoshizawa and Gotou shrugged their shoulders and at the same time was amused that they shared the same rapport.
“It doesn’t bother me since I don’t sleep in nude.” Yoshizawa said.
“SO.. you ARE implying that I sleep in nude? Which is why I am worried, right?” Ishikawa asked.
Yoshizawa paused, rolled up her eyes and thought… “She is at it again…”
“Ha… Ha…” Gotou chuckled.
“What is so funny?” Ishikawa demanded to know.
“Ha..haha.. nothing…” Gotou tried to brush it off.
The truth was Gotou happened to see Yoshizawa expression just now and from that look, she knew exactly what Yoshizawa must be thinking. She was somehow delighted to see her two friends at loggerheads… but at the same time she felt a little guilty for thinking this way…
“I’m going to the washroom, Yossi wanna follow?” Gotou said in bid to get away from Ishikawa’s further probing.
“Yes, let’s go.” And both girls hurriedly left the room.
“Thanks, gotchan… getting me out…”
“Nay… I am helping myself too…”
“Haha.”
“Sometimes I can’t tolerate her…”
“She’s okay… just abit weird.”
“not to mention being petty and sensitive….”
“can’t really blame her, her mum treat her like a princess at home.”
“do you always have to side her?”
“did I??? I only know I always SIDED you.” Before Yoshizawa finished her sentence, she purposely knocked Gotou on her side, sending Gotou crashing to the walls of the narrow corridor.
“mou~~” Gotou chased after Yoshizawa who had long escaped from the scene…

One month had passed since M0rning Musume successful stint in Sydney. Thanks to the wide coverage of The Olympics and the affiliation of their new single with the event, sales of their new single had been good. The group also garnered more fanbase as their fans found the charms of the newly added members irresistible. They had become so popular in Japan that critics tipped them to be the successor of the now-defunct by was once immensely popular girl pop group SPEED, Almost all television music programs in Japan wanted M0rning Musume to appear in their shows as their appearance almost guaranteed good ratings.
But not everything was smooth sailing for the members of the group, some were finding it hard to cope with their new found fame, they found their private life became the interest of paparazzi reporters, to the extent of having pictures of themselves taken while doing the most ordinary thing like walking on the street. Some members even felt that they were stalked by die-hard fans. Abe was the most paranoid of all, she believed that someone was always lingering around dark corners and watching her every actions. However her intuitions were right. Not long later, a photo book and a video of M0rning Musume private life were released. All the members were shocked when their management staff showed them the contents of the video. They shuddered at the thought of them being filmed without even realizing it. However this whole furore did teach them the harsher side of idol worshipping.
Riding on the success of M0rning Musume 10th single, their management rushed to release their 11th single in a short span of two months, hoping to push the group into a higher realm of stardom. It worked. Television stations jumped into the bandwagon, tapping into M0rning Musume profitable market, they produced two weekly shows ‘MUSIX’ and ‘Mo-taihendeshita’, much to the delight of their fans, but all these just add on to the group already overloaded schedules. The poor girls had to juggle their time between their studies and work, not to mention their compulsory dance and voice training four times a week…

Yoshizawa sat down exhausted against the wall of the dance studio…
“Tired?” Gotou asked.
“You bet!”
“Yossi !!! You’re drinking from my bottle !!!” Gotou stared wide-eyed as she watched Yoshizawa casually took her drinking bottle from her hand and drank from it.
“AH~~~~ this just saved my life, you know~?” Yoshizawa said as she devoured the last drop of water from Gotou’s bottle.
“Yeah… right… and this will save your senses!” having said that, Gotou wrapped her towel over Yoshizawa’s hair and rubbed it vigorously.
Gotou was somehow surprised that Yoshizawa did not react. Yoshizawa remained still like a puppy, waiting obediently as her owner tried to dry her after a bath.
“AH~~~~ I’m feeling refreshed now, thanks~”
Gotou removed her towel and also immediately she could not help laughing out loud… before her, Yoshizawa was grinning stupidly, plus the state of her messy hair, it was a hilarious sight.
Yoshizawa eyes sparkled as she watched Gotou relished in her funny act. She loved making people happy, especially Gotou.
“What’s wrong with your eye bags, they looked puffy.” Gotou asked after she regained her posture.
“Not enough sleep… (yawn)…”
“Yossi ! Don’t let Mayumi sensei catch you doing that !”
“She will if you keep raising your voice…”
“CHIGAU!” Mayumi’s voice echoed off the walls of the studio. “Why can’t you just get it right? Others are staying back because of you.”
The commotion made everyone looked up. Kago was standing in the middle of studio trying hard to fight back her tears.
“OK! I’m not going to waste any more time on you, I don’t care what method you use but the next time I see you, you better get all the moves right. Dismiss!”
No one dared to talk until they watched their dancing teacher stormed out of the studio.
“Must she be so harsh on Kago, she’s still a kid, you know…” Yoshizawa whispered to Gotou.
“saitei… in my opinion”
Yoshizawa and Gotou walked forward and joined the other members as they tried to cheer up Kago. Yasuda and Abe volunteered to stay back and guide Kago, so Nakazawa sent the other members back to their gakuya as she did not want Kago to feel embarrassed getting watched by many people.
“Sometimes, I find Nakazawa-san quite a nice person.” Yoshizawa said to Gotou as they walked back to the gakuya..
“She is… she just like to put up a front, deep inside I know she really dotes on Tsuji and Kago, speaking of which… Yossi, you go back first, I need to get something…”
Gotou came back to the gakuya with some brown stuff in her hands.
“What’s that you are holding?” Yoshizawa asked curiously.
“Tea leaves… (giggle)… for you.”
“What! Is that how you offer tea to people, badly soaked and strained?”
“Baka! It’s for this…” Gotou pointed at Yoshizawa’s eye bags.
“oh! Haha”
Yoshizawa could not hide her smile, she was touched. Despite Gotou’s yankee appearance, Yoshizawa find Gotou actually quite caring and always paying attention to small details. She wondered if it was Gotou with the swollen eye bags, would she have done the same.
“Arigatou.” Yoshizawa took over the leaves.
“kimochi warui… what’s this stuff you are holding?” Ishikawa suddenly appeared out of nowhere and commented.
“You are being rude, Rika-chan…”
Ishikawa made a funny face at Gotou.
“It’s ok.” Yoshizawa assured. “Gotchan got them for me, say it will ease the swelling…”
“Swelling ?? You are hurt? Where? Where?” Ishikawa looked fanatically up and down at Yoshizawa.
“Here…” Yoshizawa pushed down her eye bags with both fingers.
“Oh… haha, you scared me. Anyway, does it work, my eyes look swollen too?”
Yoshizawa looked at Gotou, she too was wondering if it would work.
“Yep~ read it somewhere…”
“Can I have some too?”
“Ya, sure, why not.”
Yoshizawa handed some to Ishikawa. A slight frown formed on Gotou’s face. “these are meant for you…” she thought. “how could you… without even asking me… and pass to Rika-chan.”
“Thanks~ Yossi and you too Gotchan”
Gotou smiled back awkwardly, she hoped Ishikawa did not notice it.

I'm amazed that your script just flow out of your mind, I can't, I need to crack my brains, I made drafts, but I roughly know where I'm heading so I just slowly add in the details.

Gotou slammed the bedroom door behind her and threw her tired body on the bed. She was already in a foul mood (thanks toYoshizawa’s insensitivity) and her mother, of all time, had to start an argument with her.
She wondered if her mother ever cared for her, everything her mother did, it was always for the good of her beloved son. Since young, Gotou had been vying for her mother’s love. She tried her best to be obedient hoping her mother will spare some of her motherly love, that was also the reason she auditioned for M0rning Musume. It was her mother’s idea and she had endured all the hardships just to make her mother happy, but now, Gotou wondered if her mother then just wanted to make use of her presence in Helloporo as a stepping stone to get her brother into show business.
Why was she always playing second fiddle to everything…at home…and with Yoshizawa…Gotou’s vision blurred as tears swelled up in her eyes…
Her handphone made a slight beep.
“gomen ne… I did not think about your feelings just now.” Read Yoshizawa’s message.
Gotou wiped away the tears in her eyes, she knew that she can never be angry with Yoshizawa.

Next morning, Gotou left the house early lest she had to face her mother and start arguing again.
Gotou stepped into Putchimoni gakuya, it was empty. Looking into the darkness, a sense of loneliness suddenly engulfed her. She knew that staying in the room would not do her much good so she made her way to the more crowded canteen.

“Mind if I sit down?”
Gotou was surprised to see Yoshizawa standing there, smiling.
“Of course.” Gotou’s mood somehow brightened up. “Why are you so early too?”
“Can’t sleep well… been thinking about yesterday, I know I made you unhappy, I’m really sorry.” Yoshizawa sounded apologetic.
Yoshizawa’s words warmed Gotou’s heart, at least someone still care about her. Gotou looked at the good-looking person in front of her… (if only we can be more than friends…) she thought… (but no… she must not know, she’ll find me weird… maybe even disgusting… anyway why am I thinking of all these now, I should just enjoy her company, at least no one will come between us today…)
“Still angry with me?” Yoshizawa asked since Gotou had been expressionless all the while.
“No..no.” Gotou got back her senses.
“mou ~ here I am … so worried and you are sitting there spacing out.”
“haha~ is it that obvious?”
Yoshizawa gave Gotou the similar spaced-out look.
“haha~ ok, I get it. Ermm.. let me get you some fruits as an apology then…”
“No.. no, my lady, leave this chore to your slave~”
Yoshizawa left and returned with a plate of Gotou’s favourite strawberries.
(oh yossi…) Gotou thought to herself (can you please stop doing things that will just make me love you more…)

The mood in the room was dense. A while ago, members of M0rning Musume were told the shocking news of Nakazawa’s graduation in April. Some of the older members were quite badly shaken as they still try to come to terms with the news. They had always been close and Nakazawa’s departure would mean an end to their three years of comradeship.
The news also had a great impact on the 4th generation members. Although Nakazawa had always been strict with them but over the months, they came to appreciate her because they knew their leader wanted them to cultivate good manners and respect for seniors, an important aspect in order to survive in entertainment business.
Everyone had questions in their head. ‘can we cope without Yuu-chan’ ‘will Kaorin do a good job taking over?’ ‘who will be the next to graduate?’
Finally, silence was broken when Yaguchi started sobbing and it lead to a chain reaction of the some other members crying out too.

Ah, I never really thought about the Maki x Yossi thing before. I dont know, it seems so obvious with them being the same age and all but I never thought about it. Its really cool though I like it...(have I said this all before? or just thought it..)

Gotou could not contain her excitement, it was the first time Yoshizawa was coming to stay over at her place. She had suggested the idea the day before M0rning Musume was to kick start their concert tour for Nakazawa’s graduation. Yoshizawa readily accepted her invitation.
Over the months, she and Yoshizawa had become closer, all thanks to Putchimoni increased workload. They were like a couple, meeting up everyday, working together and eating out together. During this period, Yoshizawa also showed her caring side, always hearing out her problems, cheering her on when she felt like quitting the group and part-timing as her over-protective body-guard whenever they ventured into the dangerous streets of Tokyo looking for nice cuisines and shopping, all these despite the fact that sometimes Yoshizawa herself was also the target of crazed fans. Whatever it was, Gotou was happy with the way things (she and Yoshizawa) turn out to be…
“Would it be rude if I go empty-handed?”
“Don’t bother, my mum probably won’t be home too.”
“Nah, I don’t want your mum to think that your friend is rude. I will get a fruit basket ok?”
“Well… if you think you still have hands to carry.”
Wrestling with their bags and Yoshizawa’s luggage, both girls made their way to the nearest fruit stall.
“ABUNAI!” Gotou shouted and pulled Yoshizawa away from danger.
At a road junction, a deliveryman pushing a trolley stacked high with boxes nearly missed Yoshizawa.
“ARE YOU BLIND !” Gotou screamed.
“Someone’s hurt?” asked the shocked man.
“LUCKILY NO!”
“It’s alright sir, I’m fine. Let’s go.” Yoshizawa tugged at Gotou’s sleeve.
“No, he hadn’t apologized.”
“hontou ni suimasen deshita.”
“No problem.”
“Yossi~ you let him off? He nearly hit you.”
“Gotchan, I’m ok… besides he looks pathetic enough.”
“He doesn’t look so to me…”
“It’s funny, I have never seen you so worked up before, can you imagine if your male fan will to see you just now? His idol shouting like a mad woman, he will be heart-broken.”
“Do I really looked so embarrassing just now?”
“Yah, haha~ even I’m surprised~”
(stupid Yossi, you think I’ll bother if it was someone else?) Gotou thought… “I don’t know… I just snapped.”

“Hello auntie, nice to meet you. I’m Yoshizawa Hitomi.”
“Ah, so you’re Yossi, you look pretty.”
“Thanks.”
“By the way, are you close with Tusun…”
“KA-SAN.”
“eh, sorry auntie but I can’t hear you clearly.”
“Yossi, she’s drunk. Let’s go to my room first, it’s this way.” Gotou showed Yoshizawa to her room. She let Yoshizawa walked first then she turned to her mother, shake her finger and mouthed the words “Please don’t do it again.”

“Neat room, so I will be sleeping here?” Yoshizawa sat on Gotou’s single bed.
“Yah, I’ll sleep on the floor mattress.”
“NO WAY, let me sleep on the floor.” Yoshizawa slided to the floor, stretched open her legs to mark her territory.
“Guests don’t sleep on floors.”
“We will share the bed then.” Yoshizawa winked.
Gotou’s heart skipped a beat.
Yoshizawa was alone in the bedroom. Gotou had gone for a bath.
“She sure is taking her own sweet time…” Yoshizawa closed the magazine she was browsing. Fatigue was claiming her, she lay down on the bed but immediately sat up straight when she heard the door knob turned.
She was dumbfounded when Gotou walked in… closed the door and removed her long towel to reveal herself only in white bra and undies… It was the first time she had seen Gotou so ‘naked’. Yoshizawa could feel her face turning red, and the fact that Gotou was behaving like it was the most natural thing made her more embarrassed.
“It’s your turn to bathe.” Gotou said while she was combing her hair at the dressing table.
Yoshizawa could not take her eyes off Gotou. The sight of Gotou’s black silky hair dropping against the white skin of her shoulders as she combed it was sensuous. Then she saw Gotou caught her staring from the mirror reflections. Yoshizawa quickly looked away.
“I’ll go take my bath now.” Yoshizawa grabbed her towel.
“did she just smirk…?” Yoshizawa took one side glance at Gotou and wondered before she left the room.
The bedroom lights were switched off when Yoshizawa returned. Gotou was already in bed, tucked under a blanket. Yoshizawa was kind of glad, at least Gotou could not see her being over-dressed in T-shirt and shorts.
“It’s late already, let’s sleep.”
“un…” Yoshizawa nodded.
Using the little bit of moonlight shining in through the windows, Yoshizawa found her way to the bed. Gotou shifted and made space for Yoshizawa.
“oyasumi.”
“oyasumi.”

Tonight’s atmosphere was too weird. Before the trip here, Yoshizawa thought they would be spending the whole night chatting but now both were lying, faced away on the bed, forcing themselves to sleep.
There was no way Yoshizawa could go to sleep, not after she had seen Gotou only in her undergarments. Whenever she closed her eyes, Gotou’s sexy figure would pop up in her head.
(Why am I thinking of all these!) Yoshizawa was getting frustrated at herself. She closed her eyes again… this time she pictured Gotou without her bra…
(What the HEc..) Yoshizawa sat up straight.
“what’s wrong?”
“eh… I’m feeling warm.”
“yeah, tonight’s weather quite humid, let’s do away with the blanket then.”
Yoshizawa had made the matter worse… Gotou’s curves were now vaguely visible under the moonlight and it just added to her sensuality. Yoshizawa felt her throat gone dry. She kept still for a long time, facing away, all the while her heart continued to beat fast and her body all tensed up.
(Gotou wasn’t stirring, maybe she had fallen asleep.) Yoshizawa slowly turned to look Gotou’s way. Gotou’s eyes were closed… It was the first time Yoshizawa was so closed face up with Gotou. Gotou had nice features, oval face, long eyelashes, sharp nose and those lips… Yoshizawa had a sudden urge to kiss it. She inched forward, holding her breath… their lips… it was going to touch because she could feel Gotou’s breath against her mouth.
(NO!) Yoshizawa pulled back. (What am I trying to do? I must be crazy! She is a GIRL!)

(I’m sure Yossi was staring at me and when she tried to look away when I saw her… she is just so cute. Maybe she does like me…)
Gotou switched off the lights and waited in bed for Yoshizawa. She slightly pulled the curtains apart to let in a dim ray of moonlight.
“It’s late already, let’s sleep.” Gotou said when she saw Yoshizawa entered the room.
Tomorrow will be a hectic day and she wanted to make sure they slept well.

The room fell into a long silence. Gotou thought it was weird because Yoshizawa had always been quite chatty.
(poor Yossi, she must be very tired, she didn’t speak much tonight.)
Yoshizawa suddenly sat up.
“what’s wrong?”
“eh… I’m feeling warm.”
“yeah, tonight’s weather quite humid, let’s do away with the blanket then.”
(The warm weather must be killing her, making her sprang up like that.)
The room was quiet again, too quiet for everyone’s comfort. Gotou slowly opened her eyes, Yoshizawa’s back was facing her. Gotou assumed Yoshizawa was asleep and there was no movement except for the breathing. The person she longed for was in front and yet she could not have her. She felt her heart churned. Her fingers stirred, they were aching to touch the body in front.
Gotou quickly closed her eyes, she just saw Yoshizawa turned and she would not want to be caught eyeing her. After a while, Gotou could feel the mattress sink at her side, someone is moving towards her. Her heart beat fastened.
Gotou eyes remained closed. She anticipated Yoshizawa’s next move… She could feel it now… Yoshizawa breathing against hers. Her heart began to beat like crazy.
(Oh… she’s gonna kiss me…)
Gotou felt a thud besides her. She peeped and saw Yoshizawa lying back on her side of the bed. Her heart sank.
(… maybe she ain’t ready for it…)

Yoshizawa woke up to an empty room, she could not remember how she fell asleep. It sure was a torture for her. During the night, she lost count the number of times she had to hold her urge to hug the person sleeping next to her. At the same time she was confused and consumed with guilt. How could she lust over her best friend?
Yoshizawa was startled when Gotou popped her head through the door.
“mada nemasu?”
Yoshizawa let out a weak smile. She sweared she would die next if she had to encounter another surprise again.
“nope, lazy bum, it’s getting late.” Gotou pulled Yoshizawa out of the bed.
Yoshizawa could feel her heart stopped when Gotou grabbed her hand. The touch felt good. Although they often held hands before, this time, the feeling was slightly different.
She followed Gotou out of the room.
“You freshen up first, I already prepared breakfast, make it fast ok.”
Gotou shoved Yoshizawa into the washroom.
Yoshizawa looked at her reflection on the mirror. Her face is of a redder tone. “come me, what’s wrong with you! Be natural, ok.”
Yoshizawa was surprised to see her favourite bagel and scrambled eggs spread on the dining table.
“You prepared them?”
“YEP~ bikkurishita?”
“Ya, didn’t know you can cook…”
“I make nice rice omelette too.”
“ii naa~ I think you will make a nice girlfriend.”
There was an awkward pause.
“I mean literally… ah… because you can cook…and… nice girlfriend can cook… so… oh… whatever…” Yoshizawa felt a burning tinge on her ears.
“I know what you mean, let me get the milk from the kitchen.”
Yoshizawa clearly saw Gotou walked into the kitchen with a blushed face.
Gotou leaned against the fridge’s door. She patted her cheeks with her palm repeatedly, hoping to disperse the blood that had swelled up in the area. “girlfriend… do Yossi mean it or it’s just a casual comment?” Gotou tried to reason it out and she broke into a soft chuckle when she pictured how Yossi fumbled with her explanations just now.

The mini bus pulled up at the hotel’s front entrance. Members of M0rning Musume got down and made their way to the hotel’s lobby.
“eh, Gotchan, is that all? Your luggage?” Ishikawa pointed at the small swing bag Gotou was carrying.
“iie…Yossi is helping me with the bigger ones.”
“that’s unfair. Yossi ~~”
Gotou’s face squirmed on hearing Ishikawa’s high pitched voice.
“hai, shuugou, minnasan.” Manager-san clapped his hands. “Here are your room keys, go up, unpack and follow your schedule timetable. Got it? Ok, ikou~”
“yoroshiku onegaishimasu.”
Yoshizawa had to share her room with Ishikawa, she was somehow relieved it was not with Gotou. She could not imagine having to sleep together with Gotou for two straight weeks, she would bound to do silly things, things that would jeopardize their friendship.
“Wow, this room is bigger than I expected.” Ishikawa climbed up the bed and bounced up and down.
“Yeah… wanna unpack now?”
“You go ahead.” Ishikawa was now lying on the bed, eyes closed.
“You looked tired, I’ll help you then.” Yoshizawa offered.
“yoshi~ ” Ishikawa hopped out of the bed “You’re nice.” and gave Yoshizawa a peck on the cheek.
For a moment, Yoshizawa wondered what it would feel like if the kiss was from Gotou.

The day’s schedule ended with their dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. Over the months, the impact of Nakazawa’s graduation had somehow cooled down and everyone was chatting and having fun, however between Yoshizawa and Gotou, there was the occasional bouts of silence…tinted with awkward eye contacts.
Yoshizawa could feel the vibes coming strongly from Gotou. Gotou kept filling up Yoshizawa’s plate with food, making rounds to the buffet table unduly. Once, Gotou even helped to pick away the loose rice which found it’s way to Yoshizawa’s cheek. Yoshizawa was getting increasingly uncomfortable with Gotou’s each action. She was glad when the dinner finally ended and everyone returned to their rooms.

“Yossi, can we join the beds?” Ishikawa asked after she stepped out of the bathroom.
“nande?”
“I always fall off the bed when I sleep, a bigger bed will be safer I think…”
“Oh I see, ok, let me do it.”
“Ain’t you gonna change into your pajamas?” Ishikawa sat on the bed, ready to tuck herself under the cosy blanket.
“I always sleep in t-shirts and shorts.” Yoshizawa grinned.
“It’s going to be cold in the night.”
“Don’t worry and oyasumi.” Yoshizawa switched off the lights.
“oyasumi.”
Afternoon full dressed rehearsals must have been tough because both girls were soon fast asleep.
“a-choo~” Yoshizawa sneezed in her sleep.
The sound woke up Ishikawa, she had always been a light sleeper. Carefully she left the bed to switch off the air-conditioning. Then she walk to Yoshizawa’s side, pulled up the blanket which Yoshizawa had kicked away, covered her well before going back to sleep.
Yoshizawa smiled, she knew Ishikawa was a sweet girl.

Without fail, people started talking about Yoshizawa and Ishikawa sexual orientation again, too bad it also caught the attention of Ishikawa’s mother. “Anyways those will become memories.”

“What if I want you to stay?”

Iida gives Yossi a look.
Fujimoto: “Nope, in fact we’re grateful you are willing to tell us this, we have benefit from this talk, we will work hard. Arigatou gozaimashita.”
(wow wow wooow, this Fujimoto is more impressive… not bad. Good talker…eh, good bootlicker? Haha… interesting character.)

Miki smiles, Yossi smiles back, then both turn to face the front.
(I’m not gonna talk first.)
Yossi glances sideway at Miki. She is chewing gum and looking blankly at the closed lift door. (attitude ya…good… 1…2…3…4th floor. Ita!)
“You first.”
Miki: “Thanks, together?”
“Ok, but I think we better run.”
Miki: “Eh! Necessary?”
“Come on.”
Yossi and Miki step into the dance studio, there is no sight of Mayumi sensei. Miki gives Yossi a funny look, this look says a lot despite no words are exchanged.
(ya, I did tell you to run…well it’s always better to be safe than sorry…maa ika…)
Yossi returns a silly smile, puts her bag down and joins Kago and Tsuji in their conversation.
“What’s new today?”
Kago and Tsuji exchange giggles…
(these two must be up to no good, better leave before I become victim.)
Yossi looks around, everyone is occupied, then her eyes meet Miki’s. There’s something about her glare this time and Yossi cannot help feeling uncomfortable.

Rika: “Yossi, you’re drooling.”
“what!?”
Rika: “You should have seen yourself, you’re staring at people.”
“I’m staring, that doesn’t mean I’m drooling.”
Rika: “so, she’s your type?”

Rika: “I’ve heard she’s got quite a reputation, you know?”
“Oh really? By the way I heard your reputation is quite… too, you know?”

An uneasy Konno immediately stands up and joins Makoto in her double seats. Yossi stretches her leg on the long cushioned seat since she now has the back row all to herself.
“You’re such a bully!” Rika turns her back to Yossi.
Yossi ignores Rika, puts on her ear-piece and closes her eyes. (4 hours journey… I rather catch some sleep than to bicker with you.)
Rika: “hidoi…”
Yossi is awaken by the laughter in the mini-bus, it is Kago doing her monomane stints.
Yaguchi: “Gorou-san mitai!”
Tsuji: “mitai~ mitai.”
Kago: “Ogawa-san, please~.”
Makoto: “Ok~” She pulls down her eyebrows and goes “fu… fu… ano…”
(this Makochan, she’s getting funnier each day. Wonder what brings about the change…)
Kago: “omoshiroi. Now let’s welcome Gorou-san’s girlfriend.”
The girls look back at Yossi.
(I knew this will be coming.) Yossi closes her eyes and pretends to be asleep.
Rika: “Ssshh… she’s sleeping.”
Kei: “Can’t believe she can sleep with all this noise.”
Rika: “She must be tired, she attended school this morning.”
(some times she is so understanding, just like… (sigh)… it’s been months, if only I had told her earlier… now we should be the happiest couple around… oh, my life sucks.)

(Miki looks different… She’s smiling. Come to think of it, I never see her smile during dance rehearsals with us, now she’s all smiles with Ayaya…why?)
Rika: “Yossi, look at Miki.”
Yossi’s thoughts are interrupted by Rika’s comments.
“what?”
Rika: “Don’t you think she looks different?”
“just say…”
Rika: “I don’t remember her smiling so much when she’s training with us…”
Yossi steals a look at Rika, it’s funny how sometimes they think about the same things.
Rika: “something fishy about them…”
“They are just very good friends.”
Rika: “no… even good friends don’t smile so much to each other.”
“Ah!!! Now I know why I never smile whenever I’m talking to you.”
Rika gives Yossi a glare.
Rika: “It won’t kill you not to jab me for once, right?”
“I rather be dead… trust me.”
Rika walks away, fuming but not before she had pinched Yossi on the arm.

Yossi pops her head out of her hotel room and looks around. The corridor is quiet. Her secret mission had failed for the past 2 days.
(I’m gonna get the evidence this time.)
She tiptoes to Ayaya’s room, which happens to be just 2 units right from hers, puts her ears to the door and listens. It’s quiet.
(cannot be…)
So Yossi venture further to Miki’s room, which is the 2 units to Ayaya’s right. She listens on room’s door. It’s quiet too…
(Don’t tell me, those two are each sleeping in their room? Can’t be… girls like them like to bunk together and chat till the morning…)
A slight noise of a door knob turning makes Yossi dives into the nearest stairway exit. Through a small gap between the doors, Yossi sees Takahashi walks pass.
(what’s she doing outside at this time?... wait, she is heading back to her room… so that means… Where she is coming from?)
Yossi hears the sound of a door closing and she steps out. She looks at the direction which Takahashi came from. There are only Makoto’s and Risa’s room. Then she notices there is light coming out from under Makoto’s room…
Yossi lies on her bed. She is supposed to be searching for ‘clues’ on AyaMiki but she ended up knowing Takahashi was in Makoto’s room and she left only at 4AM.
(even if they decided to bunk together, there is no need for Aichan to leave… moreover at such an odd hour. It’s just 3 hours away from our morning call… unless she doesn’t want people to know…)
Yossi breaks into a smile, there is something mystique about everyone in the group, everyone seems to be hiding a secret, just like her.

Back at the hotel, a moody Yossi finds herself wander into the café. Sitting near a corner, she stirs her drink with the straw, deep in thoughts.
(Why does it bother her so much, I never said I like her, why she’s so freaked out. And that Abesan, of all time, she choose today to give her nonsense talk. ‘Miki is boyish, but then her sex is female, right, so she will choose Yossi.’ I am ONNA too, what nonsense she’s sprouting, she talks like I’m a guy, and that’s not gonna help since Rikachan thinks I like her…)
Miki: “Can I join you?”
Yossi is shocked to see Miki in front of her.
“douzo.”
Miki: “Don’t have to look around, I’m alone.”
“Oh, you caught me… Because I thought you’re always wi..”
Miki: “Ayaya?”
“Yep.”
Miki: “You seem to be interested in Ayaya and me?”
(Don’t expect it coming from her. Did she catch me sneaking around that night?)
“no... no… just curious.”
Miki: “We are just good buddies, nothing else.”
Yossi can hear Miki emphasize the last 2 words and her ears turn red from guilt.
“Of course…”
Miki: “Anyway, thanks for today. Although it’s just a game, but I know you guys did try to know me better and also for the nice comment you said.”
“Which is?”
Miki: “saying that you like my character from start because you thought I might choose you.”
“yeah… that’s embarrassing isn’t it, when you later chose Kaorin.”
Miki: “I know you meant what you said, though we never had a nice chat since I joined momusu.”
(man… the way she talks, I’m cornered…)
“yeah… of course I meant it.”
Miki: “Alright, I’ll make a move, will leave you to your thoughts.”
“Not having a drink?... ok, see ya.”
Miki: “By the way, don’t think too much. I know she likes you.”
(Eh?)

Yossi steps into the makeshift shokudou, she has 2 hours lunch break before the next stage rehearsals start. Routinely she fills up her plate and looks for an empty seat.
(no need to dodge, Rikachan, I won’t join you.)
“Konkon, can I sit here?”
Konno: “Sure, Yoshizawa-san.”
“Where are the rest? I mean… the gokis” Yossi settles in the seat besides Konno.
Konno: “Not sure… had not seen them since the break.”
“Oh, you sure eat a lot.”
Konno: “Do I? Oh... it’s embarrassing. Everything looks so delicious so I just wanna try them. I just took one of each.”
“I don’t mean anything.”
Yossi gives Konno an assuring smile. (besides no matter how you stuff yourself, you won’t be as rounded as me…)
“This looks nice, can I try it?” Not waiting for a reply from Konno, Yossi crosses her arm to Konno’s side and helps herself to the grilled fish fillet on Konno’s plate.
Konno is shocked but actually feels more dokidoki because Yossi’s arm nearly brushes against her chest. Konno can feel her face turning red.
“It tastes good.”
(A-RE! Konkon is blushing? Did I just do anything? I just… oh mine! She’s shy isn’t she? But it’s fun to see her turn red…)
“It really tastes good, don’t believe try it.”
Yossi cuts the fish, picks it up with her fork and puts it near Konno’s mouth. Awkwardly Konno opens her mouth and swallows it in a gulp. She just want to be done with it as fast as possible, later she just keep her head low and nod repeatedly to say it is good. Her face is feeling red hot now and she does not want Yossi to see it.
(even her ears are turning red now!)
Suddenly Yossi feels she is being watched. She looks over at Rika. Rika immediately looks away. Yossi continues to look at Rika, hoping to make eye contact. But no, Rika just stands up, clears her table and leaves the room.

Waiting until next time! If I have writers block I walk or do something simple and think about the characters. They can be doing anything! But just imagine where and what Konno would do after. Just imagine like you are watching it and you are there. Sometimes it wont be interesting for a story but sometimes it will be good! Try it

There is still another hour before the rehearsals start. Yossi loiters at backstage thinking of ways to kill time.
(Maybe I should go Ayamiki’s evidence hunting.)
She walks along the corridor, popping her head into rooms along the way.
(Could they be hiding somewhere smooching? If I were them, where will be the best place?)
Staff: “Yoshizawa-san”
(Wow! What a scare…that’s what happens when I do sneaky things)
“Ya?” Yossi tries to compose herself.
Staff: “Have you seen Takahashi-san, Niigaki-san and Ogawa-san?”
“Nope.”
Staff: “Thanks.”
Yossi continues walking aimlessly along the corridor. Then she sees Makoto coming out from the storeroom.
(what’s she doing in there?)
Quietly Yossi creeps up to Makoto and puts her arm on Makoto’s shoulder.
“Makochan, what you doing?”
Makoto: “OI~ Bikkurishita!!”
“What are you doing in there?”
Makoto: “nothing, nothing.”
“Your forehead is sweating and your face is red, how can there be nothing?”
Makoto: “It’s warm inside…”
“Inside? I’m going in to have a look.”
Makoto: “No!”
Makoto grabs Yossi, but her resistence makes Yossi all the more wants to go in and take a look
Makoto: “Ok..Ok… but you promise you mustn’t make any noise, ok? And let me open the door.”
Makoto opens the door so stealthily, it makes Yossi filled with anticipation, some thing ‘happening’ must be going on in there.
The semi-dark room is filled with stacks of concert chairs and miscellaneous props. Yossi pats on Makoto’s shoulders, opens up her arms and shrugs. Makoto puts a finger to her mouth and signals Yossi to follow her.
Both girls walk quietly to another room at the end. Then Makoto stops at the entrance, she puts her finger to her mouth again then she points to her ear, asking Yossi to listen.
(Oh mine… there are noises coming from that room.)
“sorette ii no?”
“daijoubu dayo…”
“… …”
“un… unn…”
(Was that a moan or a groan…?)

In the gakuya, Yossi and Makoto sit on the sofa, looking at each other. Seeing each other’s red face, they burst into laughter again.
Makoto: “Sugoi ne?”
“Ya, I’m surprised…”
Makoto: “So you know who’s behind that door?”
“Yep, I recognize their voices. I’m still in shock…”
Makoto: “Now you know why I won’t let you in just now…”
“How did you know about them?”
Makoto: “hehe… my GAYdar has always been sensitive. They have been going on for sometime now.”
“You mean you’ve been spying on them and their activities? Makochan, you are ‘weird’.”
Makoto: “Oi, that’s not the case, I’m just curious besides I wanna prove if my guess is right.”
“what being curious? I can see that you are totally enjoying yourself just now….”
Makoto: “No, no, no, no”
Makoto shakes her hand and head in protest.
“I’ve something to confess, actually…” Yossi moves closer to Makoto and speaks into her ears. “Actually, I thought Ai-chan was with you.”
Makoto stares big-eyed at Yossi.
“You see, I saw her come out from your room that night… actually I didn’t really see her, I presumed she came out of your room, because only your room was lit up.”
Makoto: “when was it?”
Yossi does not want to say it, because it will be telling Makoto that she shares her similar habit of spying on people…
“recently…”
Makoto: “You are a very lousy spy, I always sleep with the lights on. Next time, do your homework first.”
“Ya, ya… so Ogawa-Bond, eto…”
(maybe I should ask her for help…)
“does your what’s that? GAYdar sense any other suspicious couple among us?”
Makoto gives Yossi a weird look that makes Yossi feels uneasy.
Makoto: “nope.”
(phew… I think I better don’t probe anymore.)
Makoto: “BUT… there are few potentials.”
“like?” Yossi cannot help asking.
Makoto: “Matsuura-san, Fujimoto-san and…”
( I knew it.)
Makoto: “and Ishikawa-san and… Yah, that’s all.”
“Ishikawa too? I can tell you , you got that wrong. I am sure of that.”
Makoto: “I think she likes you.”
(Why everyone says that?)
“No way, you know how she likes to conflict with me, we’re never on ‘good’ terms.”
Makoto: “well, may be I’m wrong, but you know she’s been watching us from her table since we step in, correction, she’s watching you.”
Yossi looks at Rika’s dressing table.
Makoto: “She just left. Oh mine, you really ain’t observant…”

Takahashi caresses Risa’s hair and kisses her forehead. Risa tightens her hug. “Suki…” Takahashi whispers softly. Risa looks up and they kiss again. They look like they will go on forever till Risa manages to break away and says “rehearsals starting soon…” Reluctantly, Takahashi straightens Risa’s hair and adjusts their clothes, then she leads Risa to the exit, kisses her gently on the cheeks and says “You leave first, I’ll join you in 5 minutes, love you my dear.”

Yossi is really enjoying this concert tour. She has made 2 interesting discoveries. Aichan’s and Gakisan’s forbidden love and Makochan’s hidden ‘talent’ and she knows there is more waiting for her to unveil in this big Hello! Project family.
“Makochan, how’s today?” Yossi puts her arm around Makoto.
Makoto: “Genki yo.”
“I don’t mean that…” Yossi nudges Makoto.
Makoto: “Ano… this…”
Makoto points to Yossi’s arm around her shoulders “actually, I don’t feel comfortable when you do that.”
“Ok, sorry.” Yossi retrieves her invading arm. “Any new findings?”
Makoto: “No. Sorry Yoshizawa-san, I gotta make a move now.”
And she was gone in a second. Yossi is taken back with Makoto’s sudden change in behaviour. Still pondering, she sees Konno watching her.
(Could it be because Konkon is around?)
Yossi smiles at Konno who smiles back politely. The later quickly grabs the magazine lying on the table and makes herself busy with it.
(Am I such a pest?)

Yossi steps into the shokudou, the concert tour is not helping her much in the weight department. During the long breaks between rehearsals, Yossi always ends up in here, feeding her insuppressible appetite.
Gotou: “Hello, Yossi”
Yossi nearly upsets the tray when she hears a familiar voice calling her from behind.
“Got_ gotchan, Hi.”
Gotou: “How’s life?’
“Fine, you?”
Gotou: “Good, I’m happy with it.”
(She does not look like she’s lying…)
“Good to hear that… ano… so how’s life? … oops.” Yossi bites her tongue.
Gotou laughs, her friend is still as funny.
Gotou: “well… did you have a tiff with Rikachan?’
“Eh? She told you?”
Gotou: “sort of… I was having a casual chat with her yesterday and she brought it up.”
“I raised my voice at her…”
Gotou: “no wonder… she sounded sad when she told me. She said you never shouted at her before.”
“I just snapped.”
Yossi and Gotou look at each other. The ‘snapped’ word sounds familiar, someone once said it too. But like Gotou had said, those were memories.
Yossi shifts uncomfortably in her seat. Her heart is feeling heavy, she is getting overwhelmed by emotions. Gotou seems to know what causes Yossi’s uneasiness.
Gotou: “I’ve gotten over it. I hope you do too.”
The words are like knives, opening up new wounds in Yossi’s hearts.
“Of course.”
Yossi forces a smile. Gotou smiles back.
Gotou: “Back to Rikachan. I didn’t know what actually happened, she wouldn’t say much, but she said she was sorry.”
“She said sorry?”
Gotou: “Yep, she did. We know her well don’t we, never once we hear her say sorry to anyone.”
“Yeah, now that you have told me, I do feel bad for shouting at her.”
Gotou: “So what you waiting for? Patch up with her ok? No need me to teach you, you are good at that.”
Gotou winked.
(If I am good, I wouldn’t have lost you…)

Outside the fans are chanting Yasuda’s name. Backstage, it is a teary affair. Yaguchi is sobbing uncontrollably, seeing that, some members break into tears again.
Yossi notices Rika weeping alone at a dark corner. Feeling pity for her friend, She walks up to Rika and gives her a comforting hug.
At first Rika shows some resistance but then emotions overcome her and she breaks down in Yossi’s arms.
“Daijoubu daiyo, It’s not like she is leaving us for good, she’s still in Haroporo.”
“I know… but… when I … see everyone in… tea..r.s, I just can’t …he_p…” Rika becomes muffled in her sobs.
With Rika in arms, Yossi knows it’s the best opportunity to reconcile. “Rikachan, I’m sorry.”
Rika: “nande?”
“Oh…you should know…” Yossi tries her best to make her reply sounds awkward.
Rika lets out a giggle then she thinks she must have looked funny, crying just a moment ago and giggling now.
“Ah, you guys already patch up?” Kago appears from nowhere and asks.
“What patch up?” Rika pushes herself away from Yossi and looks at Kago.
Kago: “Nothing! Nothing! See you guys later.”
Rika thins her eyes at Yossi “Care to explain why she said that?”
“I don’t know !?” Yossi shrugs.
(Rikachan…are you going to start it again??)
Rika: “Yossi, there’s nothing between us, right?”
“Yep.”
“Repeat after me, there’s NOTHING between us.” Rika says seriously
“There’s nothing between us.” Yossi swears “Absolutely.”
(Aibon… wait till I lay my hands on you…)

Yossi finally has Kago cornered in the locker room.
“Yossi~ hehe…” Kago retreats till her back is up against the lockers.
Yossi raises her fists.
“Sorry!” Kago screams as Yossi’s fist lands on the locker besides her ear.
“Kowaii yo!.” Kago braves up and says when she knows Yossi has no intention of hurting her.
“You’re the kowaii one, little devil, always talking nonsense.”
Kago smiles sheepishly. “Not my fault, I’m just the spokesperson.”
“Spokesperson?”
Kago: “meaning I’m asking on behalf of otherssssss.”
“there are others? Good! SO what they want to know?”
“whether Rikachan and you are back together… (gulps)” Kago swallows her saliva.
“What back together? We were never together!”
“It’s ok, you don’t have to say it, we understand.” Kago pats Yossi’s shoulder
Kago: “Anyway we are happy you two are back together, you have our blessings.”
“Blessings?? Aibon, you guys got it all wrong.”
“It’s ok, we’ll understand, really.” Kago says as she strides out of the locker room.

“Ogawa-bond, need your help.” Yossi whispers.
Makoto looks around the spacious recording room, nobody is paying attention to them.
“It’s ok, they’re listening to the demo tape on their MD, We can talk softly. I wanna know what they say about Rikachan and me.”
“Look ahead please.” Makoto jabs Yossi. “Your body language is telling the whole world we’re talking secrets.
In not a very smart move, Yossi holds up her lyrics and hides behind it. “So, you know anything?”
Makoto: “Of course I know something, we all know. It’s an open secret.”
“uh-huh…”
Makoto: “We know Rikachan and you are a couple, but recently you guys had a tiff over Fujimoto-san but had since patched up.”
“chotto matte yo, how did Miki come into the picture?”
Makoto: “You said you like Fujimoto-san on haromoni, didn’t you? That makes Ishikawa-san jealous, so you two hadn’t been talking since that day’s studio recording. However, while at backstage, our knight in shining armor seized the opportunity and apologized to her princess when she’s at her most vulnerable. And so, they live happily ever after.”
Yossi shakes her head, the gossips sound too ridiculous and she knows Makoto is jeering when she said “they live happily ever after.”
“Makochan.” Yossi finally says “I’m telling you once and for all, Rikachan and me, we are just friends and colleagues. Full Stop.”
Makoto: “She likes you.”
“No, she doesn’t.”
Makoto: “And you like her.”
Yossi looks at Rika sitting across the room, with eyes closed and trying her best to get song’s rhythm into her head. “I like her as a friend, but I’m NOT in love with her, there’s a difference.”
“Like develops into Love.” Makoto says matter of factly.
Yossi rolls up her eyes, she knows further talks with Makoto will be fruitless. “Anyway you just help me brainwash them, alright!”

Yossi lays back and relaxes on the sofa. (that ojichan sure is taking his own sweet time with Gakisan in the studio.) Looking around, she finds Reina, Eri and Sayumi amusing; nervousness is written all over their faces. Then she catches eye of Konno glancing in her direction. That turns on Yossi’s cheeky mode.
Konno shifts uncomfortably in her seat when she sees Yossi approaching.
“Konkon, need your help.” Yossi rests her torso on the table, leans forward and look straight into Konno.
Blood gushes up Konno’s face. Yossi watches with delight, she just loves poking fun at the shy Konno.
Konno: “Sorry Yoshizawa-san, I need to go to the washroom.”
With the target gone, Yossi walks back to her place but notices Makoto icy stare.
“What’s wrong?”
Makoto pauses.
“Oh! You like Konkon don’t you?”
Makoto: “SSShHHHH.”
“You saw me teasing Konkon. That explains!” Yossi claps her hands. “It’s no wonder your GAYdar is so sensitive, you are one yourself.” Yossi rolls on the sofa, laughing.
Makoto looks helplessly at her friend. She wishes for a hole to hide. It doesn’t help too since everyone now is looking at them, all credits to Yossi’s exaggerated actions.
Yossi only stops when she gets a stern warning from Kaori.
“Keep it a secret please?” Makoto is almost begging.
“So I take it you’ll be helping me too.” This time, Yossi says matter of factly.
Makoto curses herself, to think she had blown her cover to Baka Yossi, of all people. However, little known to Makoto, someone else in the room had noticed everything and knew what’s going on…

“oh sou~ by the way, you guys use the same perfume? Both of you smell the same.” Yossi takes a sniff “Ok see ya.” and walks away grinning, obviously satisfied with her prank.
Risa pulls up her collar and smells. “I do smell like you, doushiyo…”
“Of course you do, we’re one.” Takahashi kisses Risa on the lips.
Risa: “Dear, we’ll be seen. Maybe Yoshizawa-san knows something…”
Takahashi: “She won’t know, she’s got her own problems… soon.”

(Aichan & Gakisan, Aya & Miki, Makochan likse Konkon, how many pairs still out there? Rikachan and I? Nah… She’s a nice girl but too childish and I can’t stand her choice of colours, moreover she don’t like me.)
Inevitably, Yossi thinks of Gotchan again. She always appears when Yossi feels melancholic. As time passed, Yossi knows it is becoming hard for them to get back together. Gotchan career has sky-rocketed and she is getting sexier by the day, whereas she feels like a tub of lard standing next to Gotchan.
Miki: “Do you always eat so much?”
Yossi is surprised to see Miki with her tray, standing in front.
Yossi shrugs “Anything wrong? Eh… you wanna sit down?”
Miki: “Thought you’ll never ask.”
“Not with A__”
Miki: “Ayaya? She’s busy with her recording.”
“She’s sure busy wi__”
Miki: “So, for your information, we are NOT always together.”
Yossi chokes on her food.
Miki: “Why? You don’t chew your food?”
Yossi chokes again…
Miki passes Yossi her drink “It will help you.”
Yossi accepts and sips from the straw.
Miki: “You should chew your food more, helps digestion. You know you already look bloated.”
Yossi spews out her drink, she swears some came out from her nose too.
“Sorry.”
Miki: “Alright! there goes my lunch.”
“I’ll treat you back?”
Miki: “Ok, get for me Set B, more sauce please.”
Yossi leaves her seat, stunned. Everything Miki says is so unpredictable yet she’s quite fun to have around. Her frankness makes people feel relaxed.

Everyone is laughing their ass off when they read the scripts of the new haromoni skits. Introduction of Ganko Ittetsu’s family. They really take their hats of in awe of the script writers. Now Yossi and Rika are officially a couple on screen.
Rika: “You must have bribed the writers.”
“Don’t start it again please…” Yossi is halfway through the script. “Ah... this part is good, looks like I have a violent streak… wonders if there’s any wife-beating parts. I must appeal for that”
Rika: “Don’t you dare…”
“TOMEKO, TOMERU NAA?”
The room cracks up. Everyone thinks they make a nice couple, they share so much chemistry.

Yossi pats her buddy on the shoulder. It’s a rare sight to see Makoto gloomy. Only being lovesick is capable of that. “ne, musical’s coming right? Your best chance when you share room with her.”
Makoto eyes light up.
“Best still, just force yourself on her.” Yossi laughs at her self-believed quip.
“Talk only, I wonder if you yourself are capable of that.”
Yossi grins at her friend, over the month, their mutual understanding of each other is amazing.
“I’m a ‘gentlewoman’”

“Things ain’t as easy as you said… Now I wonder how Aichan hooks up Risa.”
Both end up in a trance state. It’s no wonder others say they start to resemble each other.

Four straight faced girls remain in the rehearsal dance hall. Abe and Tsuji have gone after a crying Kago.
Rika: “Hope she’s fine.”
Mari: “Leader, about time you have a talk with Fujimoto. She’s been quite a nuisance since she joined.”
Rika: “It’s scary, the way she shouted at Aibon just now.”
Mari: “It’s only rehearsal; I feel she’s getting personal at Aibon.”
Iida: “Maybe she’s pissed with Aibon’s pranks.”
Mari: “Come on, everybody knows her pranks are harmless, she don’t have to be so mean.”
Rika: “It’s disgusting to take it out on your junior, right? Yossi?”
“Could it be we’re skeptical, maybe her acting is so.”
Mari: “This matter aside, how about those time she’s totally spaced-out during dance lessons. Mayumi sensei looks pissed at times.
Iida: “Alright, I’ll talk to her.”
Abe, Tsuji and Kago are not back. Iida and Mari decide to join in the search.
Rika: “Notice how she had unsettled the group since she joined?”
“That’s not a nice thing to say.”
Rika: “nani yo!”
“I believe Miki’s not like that.”
Rika: “Shinyu?”
Yossi knows Rika is being sarcastic.
“Let’s not be biased.”
Rika: “Already you’re siding her.”
Yossi throws up her arms. Their conversations always end up this way. Why would others think they’re compatible?
Yossi walks out, Rika is on the verge of tears, it hurts especially since it’s because of Miki. For the first time, Rika feels jealous.

Yossi makes her way to the shokudou, it’s best to leave the scene before tension gets high. Turning a corner, she sees a brooding Miki sitting on the stairs.
“Crying over spilt milk?”
Miki looks up with a glare. “You don’t even know what’s going on.”
“I was there, I saw it.”
Miki: “So you sentenced me without trial…”
Yossi’s hunch is right, there seems to be more than meets the eye. “You wanna talk?”
Miki: “None of your business!”
Yossi’s blood rushes up her veins. “Stop acting this way, do you have to distance yourself? I’m trying to help.”
“ME! Distancing myself?” Miki smirks coldly. “I never felt welcomed in this group. Everyone thinks I’m here to vie for lead position, the truth is, I don’t give a damn!”
Miki’s words struck a chord with Yossi. She is right, some members do feel threatened and ostracized her. Yossi thought Miki never take it at heart, she always acts indifferent.
“I worked so hard for my solo, then what! I ended up in this group!” Miki’s voice trembled. “Just get lost!” She brushes Yossi aside and runs away. She has revealed too much to Yossi.
Yossi feels sorry for Miki. She was once deemed not qualified to a momusu but when her popularity takes off from her solo stint, Tsunku strips off her solo activities and throws her into the group. She has her right to be angry.

As much as I like Yossi with Rika, it'll be nice to have a Miki-Yossi pairing too. They are so hawt in the musical together.

Yoshi managed to find the reason behind Miki’s conflict with Kago. It takes a lot of coercion before Kago finally budged. Kago vaguely said she broke something that was wrapped in a box. Judging on Miki’s reaction, it has to be something she treasured. Valuable, wrapped? Soon Yossi has it figured out. It must be a present meant for Ayaya since the later’s birthday is around the corner.
Yossi feels the need to apologize to Miki. She dials Miki’s number. No one picks up. Left without a choice, She knocks on Miki’s hotel room.
It takes a while before someone answers the door. The air coming from the room reeks of alcohol; Yossi hurriedly makes her way in and closes the door behind her.
Miki’s room is in a chaotic state, the bed is messy, clothes strewn everywhere and empty beer cans littered the carpeted floor, staining it. The owner of the room isn’t any better, all she does is laughing at herself. Yossi is appalled, Miki has broken so many rules, then she feels sorry for her friend, something drastic must have happened.
Yossi quickly holds on to a drunken Miki as the later zigzags her way to another beer on the coffee table.
“Stop it please!” Yossi drags Miki to the bed and forces her down. It’s all she can do to restrain Miki. Miki starts to talk with a slur which Yossi hardly understands, all she can make out is the word ‘Ayaya’
Luckily for Yossi, Miki soon does what drunkards do best, she falls asleep. Looking at the serene Miki, Yossi wonders what she had gone through to end up like this. Intuition says Ayaya must have played a part.
Before Yossi leaves, she cleans up the mess. Hell will break lose if manager-san come to know about Miki’s drunken stupor.

Yoshi answers the knock to her room, she is greeted by a fresh-looking Miki.
Miki: “Care to join me for breakfast?”
They make their to the hotel’s cafeteria.
Miki: “Thank you for last night.”
“Don’t mention it.” It’s the first time Yossi sees Miki smiles sweetly.
Miki: “At least there’s still a nice character in the group.”
“Don’t say that please, they are nice too.”
Actually Yossi hopes Miki will blend into the group, but then one party has to take the initiative to clear the misunderstanding.
Miki: “Not asking me why I got drunk?”
Yossi is amazed, she begins to suspect Miki can read people’s mind.
Miki: “Actually your guess is right, I quarreled with Ayaya.”
Yossi looks at Miki, surprised that Miki is telling her all these.
“It’s common for friends to argue.” Yossi tries to console Miki but later knows it’s not an intelligent answer.
“Quit your bullshit, you know Ayaya and me are more than just friends.” Miki rolls up her eyes.
Yossi laughs.
Miki: “This thing called Love, it sure hurts… ne?”
Yossi couldn’t agree more.
Miki: “I know she’s toying with me…”
There is a long pause. Yossi wonders why Miki is suddenly telling her all these and what she will do if Miki breaks down in tears.
Miki: “Don’t worry, I won’t cry.”
Yossi couldn’t control her laughter, Miki is an interesting character.
“Sorry, I don’t mean it.” Yossi apologizes for the imprudent laugh.
Miki: “I won’t be telling you all these if I mind.”
“Then I’m curious, why are you confiding_...”
Miki: “Because we are the same.”
Yossi has a ‘care to elaborate’ look.
Miki: “Because we’re both gay.”
“I’m not.”
Miki: “Then you’re a closet gay.”
“I said I’m not.”
Miki: “Ok conclusion; you’re a closeted gay in denial stage.”
Yossi is speechless, she will strangle Miki if she can. The other hand, Miki succumbs into a girlish chuckle, Yossi’s expression is priceless.
“You’re beautiful when you smile.” Yossi cannot resist commenting.
Miki: “Nice try~ too bad it doesn’t work on me.”
Yossi shakes her head in disbelief; will she ever understand this girl?

Yossi and Miki run to the waiting bus. During breakfast, Iida’s call reminded them they were way past the gathering time.
“suimasen deshita.” Both girls keep their heads low, avoiding the hostile stares from some members.
The bus drive off right away, poor Yossi and Miki, they have to struggle to keep their balance as they move down the narrow aisle. The seat besides Rika is empty, Yossi hesitates if she should take it then she feels a nudge from Miki from behind and so moves on, but she immediately regrets it.
Rika’s heart sinks when Yossi passes her, she has reserved the seat for Yossi, however the moment she sees Yossi and Miki get up the bus together, she knows things ain’t going to turn out the way she wants.
Miki chooses the seat besides Iida, much to the later’s surprise, while Yossi shares the back row with the groups’ haversacks and bags.
Bored, Yossi checks out her spy-on-a-mission. She and Konno are in the world of their own, illustrated with animated gestures and hearty laughter, happiness fills the air around them. Sitting on their left is Takahashi and Risa. (what a pair!) Yossi laughs to herself. Everyone turns to check on Yossi, except Rika. She cannot bear to see her friend frolicking with Miki (she presumes.)

During the break from the musical full dress rehearsal, Yossi sees Makoto sitting alone, a rare sight nowadays.
“Makochan, where’s your kanojo?”
“SSSShhhhh.” This seems to be Makoto’s favourite phrase now. “She’s gone to the toilet.”
“Not bad, I see you got her…”
“Not yet, I don’t wanna scare her off.”
“Coward, just pop the question, my gaydar says she likes you too.”
“Ssshhhhh.” This time is because Makoto sees Rika approaching.
There seems to an invisible force pulling Rika back, looking at the way she drags herself forward.
‘na-ni?”
“You can have this, bought extra.” Rika shoves a drink into Yossi’s laps and walks away.
“Rikachan!”
Rika turns back.
“Thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.” A smile appears on Rika originally solemn face.
“Told you she likes you.”
“Based on this?” Yossi waves the bottle in front of Makoto. “Alright I’m terminating your services, now I have serious doubts on your analyzing capabilities.”
“Anyway you know what I meant.” Makoto pats on Yossi’s shoulder and walks away.
Yes, Yossi knows. In Rika’s dictionary, the words ‘give in’ never exist, but she makes an exception just now… the drink.

“Yotchan, join me at the table.” Miki pulls Yossi along.
“If you want ME to join you, I guess you’re still angry with her?”
“Can’t we just talk about the happy things?” Miki hisses
“Is there something on my face? Everyone seems to be looking here…”
Pairs of eyes dart away when Miki look up, the most obvious being Rika and Aya.
“They must be wondering why is the group’s comedian hanging out with an outcast.”
Miki sinks her fork into the defenseless steak.
“If you keep having this kind of mentali_”
Miki: “I can see that Rika likes you.”
“Wait! The way you always cut in when I’m _”
Miki: “You should check out her expression now that I’m talking to you? No, don’t look now.”
Yossi pinches Miki on the cheeks, her desperate attempt to get Miki’s attention “Do you ever bother to listen to what people sa_”
Miki: “Oh! Now Rika’s face is…”
“Stop it please, it’s freaking me out. Makochan and you are always saying the sam_”
“Makochan??” Miki diverts her attention to Yossi, finally showing some interest.
“I said nothing…”
“Makochan? I know she likes Konno.” Miki says casually “by the way, please close up your jaw.”
“but… but how you know? I don’t remember telling y_”
“There’s another pair in the group?” Miki interrupts again.
Yossi shuts up this time, she is not going to give Miki any more chance to disrupt her. She gives Miki a look, urging the later to continue whatever she is saying.
“Which of course I think you don’t even know exists.”
Hearing the challenge in Miki’s tone, Yossi retorts “Says who! It’s Aichan & Gakisan.”
Miki lets out a sheepish smile and it strucks Yossi. “Oh shit! You tricked me!”
Two tables away, all four 5th gen members vaguely hear their names mentioned and wonder how they get involved in the conversation.

I have written up to chapters 47 (finally there's a sex scene) :P :P :P and it's difficult for me to change some details for the story. I hope you guys will still support this fic regardless where it's heading and who ends up being with who.

There is a knock on the door. Miki opens the door thinking it must be Yossi again, minutes ago they just parted. To her surprise, it is Aya waiting outside. The first thing that Miki does is to close the door.
Aya lets out a cry when the door closes on her fingers. She had placed them there in her last resort. Miki flings open the door “Does it hurt?” She grabs hold of Aya’s fingers which is turning red from the impact.
“My heart hurts more.” Aya plants her lips on Miki’s.
Miki’s mind goes blank, it is so sudden, the only thing she remembers is this is the first time they kiss. She always dreams that their first kiss will be done in a romantic way definitely not like now, so sudden and unscripted. It does not taste as good as she has imagined. Still in shock, Miki let Aya kisses.
Aya stops and steps back when she knows Miki is not responding. “Did I scare you?”
Avoiding Aya’s eyes, Miki walks to the bed and sits down, her back facing. She hears the door closes and footsteps approaching so she speaks “Why do that? You never let me touch you before, we only hold hands...”
“I…I..”
The stammering just serves to remind Miki that Aya does not even bother to think of any excuses to coax her after having hurt her so badly before. Tears flow down Miki’s face.
There is a long pause, Aya is cracking her mind thinking of what to say. However. the longer Miki waits, the deeper she feels hurt.
“Get out.” Miki gathers all her strength to say it.
“I’ll be a jerk if I go out now.”
“Then say something!” Miki can hear herself shouting now. “Is it so hard to come out with even one LIE? You wouldn’t be here if you haven’t seen me with Yotchan right!”

Aya dodges the pillow thrown at her. She finds it harder to explain now that Miki had correctly guessed her reason for turning up.
“NO! I’m here because I love you.”
Aya has to dodge another pillow.
“Ok, I will leave after I say this. I admit I felt jealous just now when I saw you with Yoshizawa-san. In fact I was overcame with jealousy, only then I realized how important you are to me.”
Seeing that Miki is finally listening, Aya slows down “I’m sorry I didn’t make up my mind earlier, I wasn’t sure what I want. But when I know I’m gonna lose you, I know I have to come for you. Will you forgive me?”
“You said you will leave when you’re done.”
Aya cannot believe her ears, this time Miki is hard-hearted.
“I know I hurt you but seeing you like this hurts me too. If I lose you, my life will be meaningless. You know it. Please forgive me… Good night.”
The door closes. Miki collapses on the bed. Her thoughts are in a mess, she wants to forgive Aya but on the other end, she does not want to get hurt again…

Yossi lies on her bed. She recaps her conversation with Miki. If two persons think that Rika likes her, they cannot be wrong.
She has known Rika for 3 years now, Rika is a sweet girl, though they are always bickering, they know it is only for good fun. They are never really get angry with each other. It is only recently they had a real fight. It was the first time she ever shouted at Rika and it was the first time Rika ever apologized (through Gotchan).
She vented her anger on Rika again, over Miki’s thinggie, once again it was Rika who initiated the patch up. It is like a vicious cycle. People said you only shout at those close to you because you start to take them for granted and also because you know they will let you get away with it.
(Had I really fallen for her?)
‘Go for it, friend, don’t let it be a regret later in life.’ Miki’s words floats up in her mind. Miki is right, she had regretted once, all because she lacked the courage to ask the truth from Gotchan.
(Will this be another regret?)

They laugh at each other, finding the rapport they shared funny, it will be bad if they are late again.

“Never know you are the observant type.”
“Actually… last night I heard some commotion coming from your room.”
“Ah…”
“It’s ok if you don’t wanna say.”
“Ayaya came.”
Yossi nods her head “…for?”
Miki looks out of the window, pauses for a while before she says “She kissed me.”
“Oh~” Yossi raises her eyebrows. “Already patch up ya?”
“The problem is we never kissed before.” Miki keeps her voice low, she knows Yossi will find it ridiculous.
“NA-NI ? you telling me lovers don’t kiss?”
“She only allows me to hold her hands…”
Miki looks at the ‘monkey’ besides her. She has been laughing non-stop for a few minutes now.
“mou ii yo?” Miki finally asks.
“Sorry, but I can’t help it.” Yossi holds on to her stomach which is now aching.
“If I knew, I shouldn’t have told you.”
“Please don’t start it again.” Yossi tries not to laugh, “The thing is, I don’t understand why you allow Ayaya to do that to you? A daring and stubborn girl like you at her peck and call?”
“I don’t understand it myself. In my heart, she’s my goddess, as long as she is happy…”
Yossi can hear Miki’s voice trailing off. She looks at Miki, surprised that Miki has a soft side; how she can be an angel when it comes to love.
“Why you two quarrel?” Yossi treads on the question carefully.
“I know you’ve been dying to ask that.” Miki snubs “She’s uwaki. I know she’s always out meeting with some guys, I just leave it as long as she’s still nice to me but when I know she rather spend her birthday with some guy rather than with me…”
Yossi puts her arm around Miki’s shoulders. “I’m ok.” Miki says. “I just realized I’m always playing second fiddle, which hurts a lot. Then she came last night, telling me she really love me.”
“Isn’t that good?”
“I don’t know if I should believe her… She make me feel I’m just an unwanted toy, wanting it back only after she seen others playing with it.”
“‘Others’ referring to me?” Yossi removes her arm from Miki and points a finger at herself.
“I’m sorry, I’m not making use of you. I genuinely want to be your friend because I find we can clique.” Miki holds Yossi’s hand, looking worried.
Yossi smiles. “I can’t doubt you after you had told me so much. Besides I can feel it.”
“yokatta…”
“Give her another chance. You are giving yourself a chance too. Remember you told me ‘don’t let it be a regret later in life’?”
“and you?”
Yossi nods. “Let’s go for it.”

Yossi is confused. She tries to put all pieces of information together to get the full picture. They stop talking when the door of the gakuya opens.
“Yoshizawa-san, can I have a word with you?” Makoto walks away and the door closes back.
Makoto leans on the wall of the corridor, she stands up straight when she sees Yossi appears.
“Big mouth ass…”
“HEY! What’s wrong?”
“I know you’re trying to impress Fujimoto-san, but do you have to tell her everything!”
Yossi knows what Makoto is implying. “I didn’t tell Miki about Konkon and you.”
“Don’t lie! I overheard you that day in the restaurant, you mentioned Konkon and me!”
“I DIDN’T tell her, she guessed it herself.”
“Now you admit it! ASS~ because of you, Konkon is looking at me with those weird eyes. YOU JERK!”
The slap leaves a burning sensation on Yossi’s cheek, she looks on disbelievingly as Makoto storms off.
In one corner, someone is relishing in the scene that unfolds before her.

“I can’t think of anyone else.”
“One last time, you believed it’s me going around telling tales?”
Yossi remains quiet and that is the answer Miki needs.
“So my Saint, to you I’m just a lowly character ya! SUCKER!”

Iida looks at the five girls seated around the table. Miki is staring at the ceiling, Yossi is messing with her handphone, Rika is fiddling her fingernails, Makoto is counting the checks on her skirt and Konno is just looking into space.
Recently Iida has sensed a weird tension in the group. Through the help of Mari and Abe, she manages to pinpoint the culprits down to these five girls. Deciding that all the ignoring and avoiding among them has to come to a stop, she arranges this secret meeting. However, each individual’s behavior tells her it isn’t going to be an easy job. She decides to start from the easiest target.
“Konkon, what’s your problem?”
“Iida-san… I don’t have any problem.” Konno’s reply is so soft, Iida has to strain her ears.
“I mean Makochan and you, you two haven’t been talking much to each other.”
Yossi, Rika and Miki steal glances at Makoto and Konno whom just keep their heads low.
“Alright Konkon, you may leave.”
Just as a surprised Konno is about to leave the room, Iida says out “Konkon, don’t you think it’s silly to let a rumor ruin the friendship?”
The remark warms Makoto’s heart, it is exactly what she has been trying to tell Konno, just that Konno never give her a chance to have a heart to heart talk.
With Konno’s gone, Iida directs her attention to Rika.
“And you, does Yossi irk you so much?”
“no…”
“Alright, you can leave too, but before, I want you to think about this. Whose graduation from the group will sadden you the most?”
Iida: “I’m leaving too, I’ll leave the three of you to settle it out.”
Yossi, Miki and Makoto exchange looks, this is definitely something they do not expect.
The room becomes so quiet, the drop of a needle can be heard. Yossi looks at Miki, who turns to look at Makoto who turns to look at Yossi. They grin before laughing out loud.
“Alright, I’ll start it. Miki, I’m sorry I doubted you.”
“Apologies accepted. Ogawa-san, I never speak ill of you.”
“I believe you and Yossi, sorry about the slap.”

Yossi crashes the empty can in her hand, being able to do so easily; she knows she is not as drunk as her two friends. She never knew Miki and Makoto can drink so much, as for herself, she seldom touch alcohol, she hates the bitter taste.
Miki: “Now your turn, how is it going for Rika-chan and you?”
“I blew it. She went hysterical when I asked if we should start dating. And you?”
Miki: “I’m still undecided…”
Makoto: “ALRIGHT! Three Cheers to the three love torn musketeers!”
There is a loud thud, Makoto collapses on the mat, and Miki laughs herself silly at the sight.
“You aren’t any better.” Yossi thinks to herself. “I’ll better substitute these with tea.”
Yossi slaps her knee and stands up. The switch to the kitchen’s lightings isn’t hard to locate. Miki does keep her kitchen clean despite she stays alone in this small apartment, courtesy of the company.
Miki’s head is resting on the table by the time Yossi came out of the kitchen.
(Looks like that’s the end of today’s session)
Choosing between Makoto and Miki, Yossi decides to carry the lighter Miki into her room first. Using the light from the living room, Yossi holds up Miki and fumbles her way to the bed in semi-darkness. “There you go.” However, the sheer weight of Miki makes Yossi loses her balance and they fall together onto the bed.
Yossi finds herself landing in an awkward position. She is lying on top of Miki, their faces are just inches apart as she supports her torso with both arms pressing on the bed with Miki in-between. Blood gushes up her face, plus the intoxicating smell lingering from Miki’s breathe; Yossi can feel something churning inside her.
“Ayaya…”
Suddenly Miki wraps her arms around Yossi’s neck and pulls her down for their lips to meet. Shocked, Yossi tries to move away but Miki’s lips are soft to touch. It’s the first time she has tasted a woman’s lips. Miki open her mouth slightly, like inviting Yossi to explore. Without hesitation, Yossi sticks out her tongue to meet with Miki’s, the sensation is great. Then Miki’s arms embrace Yossi and pulls Yossi closer to her. Yossi closes her eyes and enjoy the kiss, suddenly a touch on her chest sends thrills up her spine. The touch soon becomes a caress and Yossi feels her body goes weak.
(Rika…)
Yossi pulls herself away from Miki and stands up. Miki’s arms falls back on the bed, her eyes closed. She looks asleep.
“Miki” Yossi asks softly.
No response.
Yossi closes the door and lets out a big sigh, her mind is in total blank, things that happened just now suddenly seem surreal.
(Alcohol sure is bad.)
She hopes Miki will have no collection of their kiss when she wakes up tomorrow. Things always turn ugly when the friendship line is crossed.

Only Makoto is having hangover the next day. Miki steps out of the washroom looking fresh. The trio plan to spend the morning out for breakfast and shopping since they only need to be in the studio for Hello! Morning skit recording at 2pm. However, the plan is ruined when Yossi and Miki each received an email from their manager requesting them to turn up for a meeting at 10am.
In the cab, Yossi keeps checking out Miki’s expressions. It seems Miki really had no idea what happened, she must be dead drunk last night. Yossi secretly feels relieved.
“So how? Makochan.” Miki asks.
“I’ll drop you guys off at Upfront, then I’ll go to the studio.”
“No, you should head off to Konkon’s place and ask her out for lunch.” Yossi grins.
Miki makes a slight point at the driver. They realize the driver is listening attentively, not to mention his constant checks on the rear mirror. It will be bad if he passes information to gossip magazines so the trio stop talking.
Before Yossi and Miki get off, Yossi stuffs some cash to Makoto to pay for the fare and closes the cab’s door.
“That was sweet of you.”
“Standard senpai behavior, besides I earn more.”
“Oh! That means I must always pay for you from now.”
“Geez! What are you implying…”

They are early. Seated alongside each other around the long meeting table, Yossi checks out on Miki once again. (Ok, confirmed she can’t recall a thing.)
“Your smirk irks me, what are you thinking just now?”
“Oh, I was wondering if this could be another announcement on adding new members.” Yossi lies.
“I see you always leave your brains at home. Makochan wasn’t called in and there are no cameras around.” Miki quips.
“WHAT! Sometimes I wonder why Rikachan and you always pick on me? Do I always make silly comments?”
There is a knock on the door, Rika walks in, speak of the devil, Yossi and Miki laugh out spontaneously.
Rika: “Nani?”
“Nothing.” Yossi smiles “By the way, ohayou.”
Rika: “Ohayou gozaimasu.”
Rika chooses the seat next to Yossi much to the later’s surprise. But when Maki is the next to come in, Yossi starts to panic. (Rika, now Maki, did the management know something about us?). Then Aya enters the room, Yossi nearly falls off the chair. It definitely spells trouble this time.

Manager: “… More members will be added at a later date. Meeting dismissed, Yoshizawa-san, please stay behind, need a word with you.”
When all her friends had left the room, it suddenly becomes so quiet, Yossi can hear her own heart beat. Looking stern, the Manager asks Yossi “Can you define the word ‘Idol Group’?”
“Appealing…”
“Do you in any way looks like an idol now?” the Manager clears his throat.
Yossi’s face turns bright red.
Manager: “Your merchandise doesn’t sell, your fanbase is declining, and you’re becoming a liability to the company. SO what you think the company should do?”
“moushiwake arimasen deshita.”
Manager: “You’ll be given three months to produce some results. Make good use of your futsal training, it’s the reason why we include you in the team. Buck up, ok?”
“Yes.”
Before the Manager leaves the room, he turns and says one last sentence “You’re a very beautiful girl. Don’t ruin it.”

Yossi follows the voice to see a weird girl signaling at her. She takes careful steps forward; it is only when the unknown girl pulls down her shades does she realize it is Miki.
Miki: “Why are you dressed so ‘yossi’? You’ll get recognized.”
“It’s ok. I have these.” Yossi takes out her huge, oblong sunglasses.
Miki: “I hope you won’t trip inside…”
“Where’s Makochan?”
Miki: “On the way.”

They are ushered to a table at a corner. The smell of cigarettes smoke and alcohol in the air is overwhelming.
“You come here often?” Yossi cannot help asking Miki.
“Only once, Ayaya brought me along.”
“Sugoi ne!” Makoto suddenly points at the direction of the bar counter. Under the very dim lightings, they vaguely see the silhouettes of two long-haired women locking lips.
“WOO~”
Miki: “Compose yourself please…”
Makoto: “So what are we supposed to do here?”
Candidly, the three of them look at the passionate couple again.
“No way!” Yossi protested.
Miki: “Of course, who wanna do it with you!”
Makoto: “I’ll only kiss Konkon’s lips.”
“eeeew~ kimoi!”
Miki: “Just relax and you know… go meet new friends. Nobody knows anybody here.”
Both Yossi and Makoto give Miki a doubtful look though she sure talks like one with experience.
Makoto: “You mean we go around picking up girls?”
“Ok, we see who ends up with some girls’ email first.” Miki says, obviously ignoring Makoto dim-witted question. “Shoo shoo, let’s go.”
Makoto makes her way back to their table alone. When she sees Miki already back, she knows she has lost on the bet.
Makoto: “How many you got?”
Miki: “First tell me about yours.”
Makoto turns both her palms to indicate she has none.
Miki: “Weak…”
Makoto: “Hey! It’s not easy, ok. They look intimidating. One smiled at me then walked away. One doesn’t even bother to talk and the last one said I’m too short!”
Miki: “Short? Come on, our height is the average height…”
Makoto leans forward to Miki and says “She meant my fingers…”
“OOOOOooohhhhh~” Miki nods knowingly.
At the same time, Yossi comes back, throws herself on the seat and grumbles “Can you believe it? She says I’m too fat!”
Yossi stares at her rude friends, who are nearly dying from laughing. She does not understand why they are laughing at her comment? She has always been on the plump side, but she does not know that her friends have interpreted other meaning from the word ‘fat’.
“Looks like nobody really care about me when I remove my Morning Musume tag…” Yossi continues although her friends aren’t really interested.
“Yeah, when they don’t know you’re from momusu, they just treat you like a plain-looking desperate fatty.” Miki says, with tears in her eyes, result from laughing too hard just now.
Yossi becomes quiet, Miki’s remarks hurts. Her weight never really bothers her that much, but today’s events do show her the harsh side of reality. Maybe it is time she has to take her weight issue seriously; it is jeopardizing her career and social life.
Makoto notices Yossi’s change in mood so she tries to change the topic. “So Miki, you are the winner, how many you got?”
Miki smiles sheepishly. Makoto and Yossi have a hunch they are being played out.
Miki: “None… I didn’t even leave this table.”
“Shit! I knew it. You sneaky one.” Yossi slaps the table.
Miki: “It’s so embarrassing. Besides I hate rejections.”
“Alright, we will forgive you but the bill is on you.” It is Makoto’s smartest quote of the day.

Ok, first things first -
The manager is a prick. Now that I have that out of the way, on to business!
If I could have ONE thing...just one! It would be to have a more bar scene...gosh, I laughed out loud. That was so cool. I can imagine Yossui, Miki and Makoto trying to pick up chicks. haha. I beg of you - write more on it!
That YoMiki moment was a sweet one. To be honest...it was a little hot :P I enjoyed it.

Rika joins Yossi on the long bench, she places a comforting arm over her friend’s shoulders. She has never seen Yossi acted so violent.
Rika: “You’re scaring me.”
“Sorry…”
Rika’s presence somehow has a calming effect on Yossi.
Rika: “It’ll be better if you tell it to them too.”
“I’ll do it later.”
Rika: “You’re being too hard on yourself.”
“I have to, sports festival is next month but look at our team.”
Rika: “We’ll improve with time.”
“With this kind of attitude? Just look at Gotchan, she has missed one week’s training already. Even those who did turn up…”
Yossi shakes her head and buries her face in the towel. Rika pats on Yossi’s back, she is shocked to hear Yossi grumbling at Gotou, Yossi always place Gotou on the pedestal. However, she is more interested to know the reason behind Yossi and Aya’s bust up.
Asami, Tsuji and Miuna sit at the furthest end of the bench, surprised to see Yossi’s ugly side. Everyone stays rooted to the bench in case they start any provocation again.
Asami: “Can’t blame her, we’re giggling all the time.”
Miuna: “Yep but the worst is Matsuura-san. The way she plays, you think she has a grudge against Yoshizawa-san.”
“Ya, I saw it. The bumps and the tackles…” Asami nods with agreement.
“Actually… _ … _ ….” Tsuji’s deliberate pause makes Miuna and Asami so irritated, they spontaneously slap her on her arms.
Miuna: “Say it!”
Tsuji: “Well... before Yossi pushed Ayaya, I saw Ayaya taunt Yossi repeatedly, she kept saying things to Yossi.”
Asami: “Oh~ any idea what she said?”
Tsuji shrugs her shoulders. “I only hear Miki being mentioned.”
“OOOOHHHHhhh~” Asami and Miuna exclaim. “No wonder Fujimoto-san has gone after Matsuura-san.”
Tsuji nudges her friends to stop talking, Yossi and Rika are walking towards them. She hopes they are not going to get lectured again.

Aya storms into the locker room, she pushes the door so hard, it makes a loud thud when it hits the wall. Before the swing door has any chance to return to its initial position, someone pushes it open again.
“Stop there!” Miki demands.
Aya stops and stands still, but with her back still facing Miki. “So you’re here to tick me off?”
Miki feels sadden with Aya’s harsh tone. “NO! I’m here because I’m concerned about you.”
“Really?” Aya snorts
“I care about you and I don’t understand why you do that to Yossi, it’s childish.”
“ME childish! Of course! Who can be as suave as your Yoshizawa.” Aya kicks the lockers located conveniently on her right, venting all her anger on it.
Still defiant, Aya keeps her back turned towards Miki. There is a long pause, then Aya hears a slight crying sound coming behind her. Turning around, she sees Miki covered in tears. Aya can feel her heart tearing up, she rushes forward and hugs Miki. “I’m sorry… sorry…”
“Why you keep hurting me…” Miki locks her arms behind Aya’s waist and holds on tight.
“I’m really sorry…” Tears swell up in Aya’s eyes. She suddenly hates herself for hurting Miki with her unkind words. “Jealousy just turns me into a monster.”
“Don’t you understand?” Miki looks at Aya with big watery eyes. “I’m yours, always…”
“Mikitan…”
Aya leans forward and kisses Miki. It is a bittersweet kiss. The taste of Miki’s tears that has found its way down the cheeks reminds Aya how she has hurt Miki once again.
Miki returns Aya’s kisses, she really loves this woman before her…

Miki follows Aya into a bathroom cubicle. After making sure the door is locked, she turns and sees Aya looking at her with a burning desire in the eyes. When Aya moves forward, she closes her eyes. Aya’s kisses are deep and passionate; she can feel Aya wants her badly. Then her towel that is wrapped around her bodies drop on the floor, she feels both Aya’s hands behind her trying to undo the hook on her bra. Her bare breasts come into contact with the cool air and it sends a ripple down her spine. Miki opens her eyes and sees Aya has her eyes fixed on her chest.
“Why? Don’t you have these too?” Miki cups her breasts and teases.
Obviously Aya is too turn on to say anything. She lowers her head and kisses the pair of beautiful breasts.

The request from Miki is too sudden, Yossi looks at her watch and hesitates.
“Why? You meeting someone? Postpone it.”
Miki is seldom so demanding, Yossi knows Miki really need her company, may be she needs someone to confide in.
“Alright, I’ll be ready in a minute.”
Yossi hurriedly stuffs her belongings into her bag.
Miki: “Ask Makoto along.”
“She is at Konkon’s place, today is their rest day.”
Miki: “That lucky girl…”
From the sarcastic tone, Yossi guesses Miki must have some problems with her lover again.

Miki looks around for a suitable place to empty the contents from her tea cup, the bbq stove looks inviting but she knows Yossi will scream if she does it. Left with no choice, Miki pours her tea into Yossi’s tea cup in the most natural way, hoping Yossi will not notice it.
“Again? You’re getting bolder ya, we’re outside now.”
“Nobody will know, it’s only you and me in this room.” Miki takes out a can of beer from her bag “You want some?” Actually Miki just asks out of courtesy, she knows Yossi dislike beer.
“Aren’t you going to talk? I’m not here just to yakiniku with you…”
“Gosh… can’t you show some compassion to your friend?” When Miki says that nonchalantly and the way she pokes the meat with her chopsticks, Yossi knows she doesn’t deserve any.
“What did Aya do this time?” asks a deadpan Yossi.
Miki: “She… she hasn’t touch me for weeks…”
“Goodness me, that’s what been troubling you?” Yossi cannot believe her ears.
Miki: “It’s a very important issue.”
“You guys always hold hands don’t you…”
Miki: “BAKA, I don’t mean that!”
Yossi knows, she just hopes to cheer up Miki a bit with her unappreciated sense of humor.
“Maybe she doesn’t find me interesting anymore…” Miki downs her beer at one go and refills, warm beer sure tastes bad.
Yossi really cannot understand how important that is to Miki, she has never done it, although occasionally she do fantasize about it.
“True love surpasses all physical attractions.”
Miki: “It’s a big joke, that coming from you, Mr. Roman. Girls throw themselves at you now.”
Yossi does not agree with Miki, no doubt she has quite a reputation in Haroporo now since she has successfully threw off those excess fats, the farthest she has gone with girls is just holding hands and polite kisses on the cheeks.
Miki: “You think I don’t know about the bets you always have with Makoto? She will name someone then you’ll…”
“It’s just for fun.” Yossi chips in.
Miki: “You’re such a flirt nowadays.”
“Yeah… maybe I’ll try my charm on Aya.” Yossi says spitefully
Miki: “That will be wonderful, we’ll do threesomes.”
“I surrender...”
Yossi knows she can never beat Miki with words. Miki isn’t called ‘tsukkomi queen’ of the group for nothing.

Miki looks on with doubt at the skimpy piece of black lingerie, but since the idea is from an ‘experienced’ Yossi, she decides to give it a try.
A little while later…
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.” Miki looks at her reflection from the mirror. “So Yocchan gets turn on with these?” Miki makes a few half body turns to the left and right, her eyes fixed to the mirror. “Should I wear the bra? It so clashes with this see-through lingerie…”
Miki takes off her bra, her nipples slowly hardens against the soft fabric of the lingerie. Looking in the mirror, she can see herself turning red, she is feeling embarrassed even if she is alone in the room.
Aya is going to be back soon, so Miki switches off the lights and tugs under the blanket, “This has better work, or you gonna get it from me, Yocchan.”
Miki wakes up to someone sitting on the bed. She has fallen asleep while waiting. Aya must have been back for some time, she has taken her bath and the scent eluding from her body is sweet and refreshing. Miki sticks out her hand from under the blanket and touches Aya.
“Okaeri.”
Aya turns and smiles “I wake you up?”
“No. Why didn’t you switch on the lights, you will trip in the dark.”
“You’re sleeping so soundly, I can’t bear to wake you up.”
Miki sits up and hugs Aya from behind, these simple words are enough to melt Miki’s heart.
Aya feels something soft yet pointed pressed against her back. Turning around to face Miki, her guess is confirmed. “Nice lingerie.” She kisses Miki on the cheeks.
Miki closes her eyes, wondering what Aya will do next…
Contrary to Miki’s thoughts, Aya lifts her legs onto the bed, adjusts her pillow then puts her head comfortably on it. “Oyasumi.”
For a moment, Miki does not know how to react, it is not what she expects.
“Oyasumi yo?” Aya pats on Miki’s pillow, indicating Miki to lie down. “It’s getting late.”
Miki sinks her head on the pillow… (She doesn’t love me anymore?)
Just when she has this thought, Aya turns and puts a loving arm over her, with another peck on her cheek, Aya nestles her head on Miki’s shoulders and goes to sleep.

It is supposed to be a pass instead the ball is heading ferociously in her direction and Yossi tries to stop it with a light tap. The ball just bounces off her shoe and lands straight into her face. Yossi’s mind goes blank for a moment before laughter from her team mates calls her back to reality.

The friendly match continues. This time, Miki chooses to pass the ball to Rika who is heavily marked instead of Yossi who has been signaling for the pass. It results in the opponents claiming procession and with a few quick passes, Asami sends the ball past Tsuji, into the back of the net.
“What’s wrong between Miki and you?” Rika runs up to Yossi and asks.
“Not sure, she was ok two days ago…”
The game goes on, Yossi’s team is on the attack again, Miki has the ball, a right pass to Yossi will definitely ends up in an open goal, however she decides to shoot it herself. The ball goes straight into Konno’s arms.
“Hey! What’s wrong?” Yossi runs up to Miki and asks.
“You have the cheek to ask? You and your stupid plan…” Miki last words cannot be heard clearly as she has run back to her own half to play defend.
However, when Yossi hears the word ‘plan’ she finally knows the cause of Miki’s weird behavior but she cannot agree with Miki for mixing personal affairs with ‘work’ so Yossi calls for a break and within seconds, she has dragged Miki to a corner for a talk.
Other team members are guessing the contents of the one-to-one talk. Just looking at the expressions of a serious Yossi and that of a defiant Miki, they expect a huge argument or maybe a fight to happen at any time. They get increasingly worried when they see more words and hand gestures being exchanged. It is lucky that today is not an official training session with coaches and staffs around, or else the two will have lots of explaining to do.
Rika seats on the bench with her hands grasped, hesitating if she should go forward and play nice guy. She predicts a clash is inevitable. Ever since Yossi had been appointed as the captain, the stress of being one has made her easily irritable. She lost count the times Yossi has flare up during practises.
“Rikachan, do something.” Tsuji urges and continues, “Too bad Matsuura-san isn’t here, or else she can go handle Miki.”
Rika slaps her hand on the knee and stands up. Tsuji is right, she has to act now. Then she sees Yossi pats Miki on the shoulders and both have smiles on their faces again. Rika cannot believe her eyes. Later, both of them walk back to court with arms around each other’s shoulders like the best of friends and signal to the rest to resume the match.
An inexplicable feeling grows in Rika, the sight of Yossi and Miki being buddies again makes her uneasy…

“Rikachan.”
Yossi calls out to Rika who is walking alone on the pathway to the subway station. Rika waits while Yossi quickens her steps to catch up.
“Isshoni?”
Rika: “Sure, it’s been a while, ne?”
“Huh?”
“Nothing.” Rika meant to tell Yossi it has been a while since they are alone together.
“Are you okay?” Yossi asks concernly.
Rika looks sideway at Yossi and wonders why she says that.
“You’ve been quiet… since practise.”
Rika’s eyes dart back to the front, she has mixed feelings. She is glad that Yossi does notice her change in mood; at the same time angry with herself for letting her feelings show so easily.
Rika: “Is it? Maybe I’m tired.”
“Then I’ll see you home.”
Rika: “No need for that, it’s so out of the way.”
“It’s ok, I’m free anyway, besides you really look pale now…”
As they walk into the station, they hear an announcement on the public speaker system.
“Hurry! The train is coming.”
After they go through the automatic gates, Yossi grabs Rika’s arm and heads for platform. They make it into the train just before the door closes.
The train is crowded. They are sandwiched. After some hustling and jostling, Rika finds herself in an awkward position. She is standing very near to Yossi, so near she can feel the later’s breath on her face. Then she feels Yossi wraps her arms around her waists. Out of mutual understanding, she knows it is just a caring and protective gesture from Yossi, but she does not understand why her heart beat is getting irregular.
Throughout the journey, Rika does not talk much. Yossi thinks Rika must be really sick and she is glad she offers to see Rika home.

“Nice neighbourhood.” Yossi says as she admires the rows of beautiful houses placed sparsely apart and the serenity surrounding it. “and it’s so near to tv station.”
Rika: “That’s why my dad just bought this place.”
“Ermm, expensive? Maybe our family should move here too.”
“Really? Then we can become neighbours.” Somehow, Rika is quite excited with the thought.
“Yeah, I think it’s quite a good idea. I can even get your mum to give me a lift to work together.”
Rika stops at the gates of a white-colored three storey house. “I’m home.”
“Oh. I was looking forward to a pink looking house.” Yossi grins.
Rika: “Actually I wanted it painted in pink but dad objected.”
“You should be glad to have such a wise father.” Yossi adds.
Rika: “HIDOI!”
Both girls look at one another and laugh, it has been ages since Rika has used that word on Yossi. Ever since months ago when Yossi confessed her feelings to Rika and was rejected, they aren’t as close as before. It takes months and countless Gatas training together before Rika can finally forget the unpleasant episode and once again feels comfortable with Yossi around.
Rika: “Wanna come in? My mum’s been complaining that you hadn’t visited her for so long.”
“Not today, it’s getting dark.” (ok, it’s a lame excuse.)
Rika: “Alright, won’t force you. I’m going in now, thanks for walking me home. And give me a call when you reach home, ok? Bye bye.”
Yossi waves and watches Rika enters the house. Later she heads back to the station to take another train home.
Walking on the path leading to her house, Yossi realizes she is whistling, funny because she is not the least tired with all the traveling even after a tedious training session. She knows the reason, she is happy because the misunderstanding with Rika has been resolved.

Alright~ another update. It's confrontation time :) Hope you guys like it.

Yossi slips on the black jacket, giving a final check on her appearance on the mirror, she is happy with what she sees. Wearing jerseys all the time, this lady suit and pants wear is a first and surprisingly, she looks smart, all credits goes to Rika who has picked this wardrobe for her, if she has asked the company’s costumes staffs for advice, they are sure to force her to wear some lacy womanly dress. (Goki Hiroshi 40th anniversary dinner is a grand event, everyone has to turn up in formal wear)
A car horning outside reminds Yossi that Rika is here to fetch her. Yossi opens the door to a petite girl waiting outside. Dressed in a simple and elegant black top and cardigan, paired with a plaited grey skirt, Rika looks demure yet stunningly beautiful.
“Kirei…” Yossi cannot help praising, much to the delight of a shy Rika.
“You look good too… but…” Rika ponders for a while before she unbuttons Yossi jacket and pulls out the collar of her white shirt over the jacket. She takes one step back to admire her work. “Kakkoii.”
The car horn sounded again. “Come on, my mum is waiting.”

The dinner just now seems like a dinner date with Rika (although many members are present), and like how a date will end, Yossi offers to send Rika home.
A cab pulls up at the gate and two girls alight.
“Thanks.” Rika suddenly turning formal.
“My pleasure. Ano…”
Something inside Yossi tells her she cannot let the girl go just yet…
“I’m still feeling full, care to take a stroll with me?”
“Sure…”
The night is clear with a gentle breeze and the pathway outside the row of houses is quiet. Evenly spaced lamp posts cast their shadows on the road that they walked. Worried that Rika may catch a cold, Yossi takes off her jacket and puts it over Rika’s shoulder.
“Thanks.”
They continued walking but they do not talk, occasionally Yossi will steal glances at Rika. Rika sure looks very captivating tonight, especially under the dim illumination. Once again the fondness she has for Rika which she has kept hidden deep in heart begins to stir.
Summoning all her courage, Yossi holds Rika’s hand. Surprisingly, Rika does not withdraw. Feeling a little encouraged, Yossi tightens her grip.
“Yossi… You have things to tell me?”
“You know me so well... ”
“Yes I do… and I know what you gonna say… But…can’t we just be good friends?”
Yossi feels a grip in her heart…
“Good friends? Why? You know I love you, I’m always waiting for you… Don’t you feel anything for me?”
There is no reply from Rika. Yossi pulls Rika to a stop, putting her hands on Rika’s shoulders, she turns Rika around to face her. This time, looking straight into Rika’s eyes, she asks “Why don’t you give me a chance? Give us a chance?”
Rika looks away. Yossi is hurt, she knows Rika likes her, she can feel it. The things Rika has done; concerns shown to her personal life, voluntary assisting with Gatas schedules; unduly taking on the unofficial role of vice-captain and always on her side even if she is in the wrong in a conflict. Everything is beyond friendship… but why is Rika avoiding it?
“Please… don’t force me… I can’t love you the way you love me… Believe me I’ve tried… but I can’t. I don’t how to face my family... and other members… and the staffs…” Rika’s voice starts to tremble. “... and everybody, what will they think? I don’t have the courage to hear the things they will say. I’m not like you. You don’t bother about these things…”
Rika turns her back, just in time not to let Yossi see her tears flowing down her cheeks. Ironically, in doing so, she does not see that Yossi is getting overwhelmed with tears too.
“You… you meant to say, we can never… be together?” Yossi’s voice cracks.
Rika wipes her tears, waits awhile before she turns around with a forced smile and says “We’ll always be good friends.”
Rika’s heart aches when she sees Yossi fighting back her tears, she knows she has repeatedly hurt Yossi’s feelings. Sometimes she wishes they aren’t famous people and she doesn’t have her parents’ pressure on her, she will definitely love and embrace this person in front of her whole-heartedly.
“You won’t even try?” Yossi asks, another tear flows down.
Rika shakes her head slightly. Then she raises her hands and wipes away Yossi’s tears. With both her hands still holding on to Yossi’s face, she says “We’ll always remain as good friends, ok?”
The words kill Yossi, her heart grasps for air as if an invisible hand is squeezing it with all might. She wants to cry out but somehow she puts on a brave front, controlling her tears that are already on the verge of bursting out, she fakes a smile. “Ok, I’ve got it… But will you let what happen today, what I said affect our friendship? I mean, will you avoid me again?”
“No, I won’t. I won’t be so childish again. Promise…”

Yossi gets off the cab, instead of going back into her house, she decides to take a walk around the neighbourhood. Many things in her mind needs straightening out.
(“Please… don’t force me… I can’t love you the way you love me… Believe me I’ve tried…”)
(“We’ll always be good friends.”)
Those words keep flashing across her mind. Yossi crouches down and buries her head in her crossed arms. The agony of losing something precious is killing her. Is fate fooling her? Is true love hard to get? Why do Rika keep giving her false hope only to destroy everything with one final blow? Tears flow, soaking the sleeves of her jacket.
Her cell phone beeps in her jacket’s pocket. (must be Rika.) She quickly stands up and reaches for the phone in her pocket.
The message reads ‘It’s been awhile… just wanna tell you, you look really smart tonight. …Gotchan’
Yossi’s heart sinks and snorts… (what’s the use of looking smart…)
‘Thanks.’ Yossi replies.
Almost immediately, her cell phone starts ringing. Yossi takes a deep breath, clears her choked throat and answers.
“Hi, Gotchan.”
“Hi, Yossi. Am I imposing? Your voice sounds muffled, already in bed?”
(forever so observant…)
“No… I was just tidying…”
A car sped past.
“…I’m outside, on my way home.”
The other end of the line is quiet, Yossi wonders if it’s because Gotou notices her intention to lie.
“So…” Yossi is quite lost for words, it’s been awhile since she last chatted with Gotou.
“Ermm… You really look good just now. I’m surprised.” Gotou cuts in, much to Yossi’s relief.
“Nice to hear that from you, well, you look very pretty too. The red dress suits you.”
“Ah~ Thanks. Glad that you noticed.”
“Why?”
“Because I saw Rikachan and you so engrossed with each other, totally oblivious to…” Gotou chuckles.
Yossi’s chest is getting tight with every word she hears…
“You still there?” Gotou asks with concern, after a long pause.
“I…I’m heading into the station now, gotta cut off. Take care.”
“Oh... alright, take care too.”
Yossi puts away her cell phone. It’s bad that she lied, but she cannot bear to hear anymore affiliation between Rika and her, those words are like knives, drawing blood mercilessly.
(Can I really treat it like nothing has happened?)
She knows she has to deal with this alone, there’s no way she can confide in anyone, the lesser people knows, the better, she cannot bear exposing Rika to anymore unnecessary pressure and wild guesses.
She remembers how she was hurt by Gotou, it takes a year or so for the wound to heal and just when she has the courage to fall in love again… It is a vicious cycle.
(If I can get over Gotchan… time will heal everything…)
Yossi makes a U-turn from the combi store, she has intended to get a couple of beers. Not necessary now... Family first… then work… as for love, it can only be an accessory.

Rika lies on her bed, her body is aching and her forehead is burning hot. The medicine is making her sleepy again but then her head is already feeling heavy from too much sleep. She decides to get up and walk around. But suddenly exerting her strength to sit up makes her head spin, she closes her eyes and takes a deep breathe.
“Ka-san.”
After a while, she calls out again. She doubts her mother can hear her weak voice. She stands up slowly, with her hand supporting on the headstand, and makes her way out of the room. Opening the door, she calls out for her mother again.
“Ka__..” Her vision suddenly blurs and everything turns black. Her head is spinning so wildly she loses her balance. A sharp pain hit her on the back of her head as her body slumps onto the hard concrete floor…
“Yoshizawa Hitomi desu, yoroshiku onegaishimasu.”
“We’re like a couple, but who is the guy?”
“Back off, back off~…Haha, Yossi… hazukashii yo…people are staring.”
“I like Gotchan, promise you’ll help keep it a secret?”
Coldness slowly creeps in through her fingers, claiming her body.
“Our love IS REAL?”
“I just wanna console you… AND YOU CAN START AVOIDING ME FOR
ALL YOU WANT!”
“Anata~ Tomeko wa tomemasu…”
“I believe Miki’s not like that… … …Shinyu?”
“Why don’t you give me a chance? Give us a chance?”
“Please, don’t force me… I can’t love you the way you love me…”
The visions get more and more vague, Rika’s consciousness gradually seeps away. The last thing she knows is someone calling out her name.

“She’s resting in her room.”
Yossi follows Rika’s mother as they walk up the stairs.
“Aren’t you working today?”
“I am, happen to have a break between schedules so I just drop by.”
“Rika is fortunate to have a friend like you.”
“Oh… it’s nothing.” Yossi scratches her head, slightly taken aback with the compliments. “I’m worried when she didn’t turn up for futsal training. I know her well, she won’t take leave unless she is very sick.”
The older lady smiles broadly, in her eyes, Yossi has always been a sensible and considerate girl.
“Her room is on the… OH MINE!”
Looking in the same direction, Yossi is shocked to see Rika lying on the floor, she dashes forward and kneels before Rika. “Rikachan!! Rikachan!!” Putting one hand under Rika’s neck, she holds Rika’s head up slowly and let it rest on her lap. “Please don’t scare me…” Rika’s body feels cold… many thoughts race up and down in her mind, will the bad happens?
“Oh god… what should we do?” Rika’s mother says worriedly as she looks on helplessly at her unconscious daughter.
With trembling hand, Yossi puts one finger near Rika’s nose…
“Auntie, she’s still breathing. Can you please call the ambulance?”
“Yah! The ambulance, what am I doing … oh mine” Rika’s mother races down the stairs to make the important call.
(You better be alright…) Rika looks like she is only sleeping, the difference is, her face is pale and her hands feel cold. Yossi holds Rika up closer and rubs her hands, giving it some warmth. (Promise me you will be alright, please…) A drop of tear lands on Rika’s face.

Rika wakes up but finds it hard to open her eyes. She can hear people talking.
“Madam, your daughter is okay, she will come around anytime. We’re leaving.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes madam, her breathing, pulse and blood pressure is back to normal, she’ll be fine.”
“If that’s the case…Thanks, I’ll see you to the door.”
A pair of soft hands hold on to hers, gently squeezing it. A familiar voice says “Baka… if something happens to you… I’ll never forgive you…”
Emotions swell up inside her. She wants to hold back Yossi’s hands, let Yossi knows she can hear her, but hard she tries, her fingers will not budge, she is too weak.
The comforting pair of hands retrieved suddenly. “Eh… Auntie.”
“My poor girl.” Another hand touches her forehead and her cheeks. “You gave me a scare.”
“Auntie, she’ll be ok.”
“Yes, she will.”
“Eh, I need to make a move now. Late for rehearsal.”
“Oh ok. Thanks Yossi, I’ll be lost if you aren’t around. Really thank you so much. Let me see you to the door.”
The voices fade, the room is quiet now, so quiet Rika can hear her thoughts shouting out. She cannot lie to herself anymore, she wants Yossi…

(Another month passed.)
Rika repeatedly splashes water on her face, stopping, she looks at her reflection. She is a sorry sight, messy fringe sticking to the forehead with water dripping down from the sides, smeared make-up and a pair of eyes so consumed with jealousy.
“Why are you always flirting around. BAKA!”
Ayaka, Satoda, Erika, YUI, Miuna… The list goes on
Rika throws her hands into the sink, splashing water into the mirror, blurring the image in the mirror as the water creeps down.
Iida sotsugyou concert tour will must end sooner, she cannot bear seeing Yossi with others, exposing Yossi to these girls is too dangerous, she often sees them at backstage drooling at her kakkoii Yossi and the worst part is, Yossi seems to be enjoying all the attention. Yossi will flirt with them shamelessly but suddenly become all prim and proper when with her. A Yossi acting innocent in front of her makes her guts turn.
Outside the bathroom, her cell phone beeps.
She reads the message “We’re having karaoke at level two, wanna join us?”

Just after ten minutes, Rika has regretted her decision to join them. Almost everyone she does not like to see together with Yossi is present. She does not bear personal grudges against any one, she just hopes they keep their hands away from Yossi. Rika wonders how much longer she can endure, and then she heard the intro to the next song. Mr. Moonlight Ai no Big Band. “That’s it” She says thinking to herself and leaves the room as obscurely as she enters it.
Rika slots the card through the mini reader, the door to her hotel room opens with a click. Stepping into the dull looking room, she leans herself against the back of the door, pushing to close it. Before the door can close, someone stops it from behind. A quick Rika jumps forward and looks back, curious to see who the intruder is.
“Sorry, did I hurt you?”
Rika is surprised to see Yossi at the door, although happy, she tries to hide it.
“Nani yo…” She walks towards the windows and pulls open the curtains. Through the reflection on the window, she sees Yossi closes the door, walks to the bed and sits down with both arms on her side and legs fully stretched out.
“Why are you here? Go back, they are waiting for you.”
Totally ignoring Rika, Yossi asks what she is here to find out “You look unhappy just now”
“What a joke? I thought you’re too busy having fun to even notice it.”
“Of course I see it!’ Yossi stands up in frustration, Rika’s sarcastic tone never fails to piss her off. Looking at Rika’s back, she commands “Turn around when you talk to me!”
Rika almost yields to Yossi’s authority, but she hates it when people shout at her. She remains unmoved.
“What actually do you want from me? I had enough!” Yossi barks. “You keep saying ‘shinyu shinyu SHINYU’ but you always have that look on your face…” Yossi grabs Rika by her wrist and turns her around. “…when I’m with other girls. What’s with that, trying to make me feel guilty? Like I’m doing wrongs to you. You don’t own me, OK! OK? OK!!! Remember how you gave up that right long ago. You DON’T WANT ME!”
“You’re hurting me…” Rika turns her face to look away.
Yossi releases her grip, a red hand print forms immediately under Rika’s skin. It dawns on her that she has behaved badly, using force and shouting…
“Sorry…”
Suddenly, Yossi is consumed with guilt. She does not understand why anger always takes control over her, resulting in her hurting her loved ones, she retreats and falls back on the bed. Clutching on her forehead, she begins to hate herself…
It is the first time Rika sees Yossi looking so helpless and defeated, her heart aches with pain. She walks forward and kneels before Yossi who has her eyes closed and anguish written all over her face. She removes Yossi’s hand from her forehead, holds them together and brings it close to her. She never knew her indecisiveness has caused Yossi so much pain.
A warm drop of tear drips onto Yossi’s hand. Rika chokes on her words as she struggles to fight back the tears.
“Will you… give us a chanc.. to start .. all over…?”

“Yocchan, you’re late.” An energetic Makoto opens the door and greets.
“Don’t complain, I rushed here right after training.” Yossi makes her way into the apartment.
“Miki’s not coming, she’s meeting you know who.” Yossi adds when she sees Makoto looking out of the door.
“Kono yarou…”
“Hello~ You aren’t any better…” Yossi snubs. “okusama wa?”
“In the kitchen.”
Yossi makes herself comfortable on the zabuton. She looks around the apartment, it may be small but nevertheless adequately furnished, not to mention it is neat and clean. “I see that Konkon makes a good wife.”
Makoto smiles, she agrees with Yossi.
“Wipe that smirk off your face.” Yossi slaps Makoto on her arm, she knows Makoto is showing off Konkon like she is some prized possession.
“Honey-pie, Yocchan is here.” Makoto purposely raises her voice.
(HONEY PIE!)
Yossi swears the hair on her arm springs up on hearing that.
Konno appears from the kitchen wearing an apron and holding a ladle in her hand. She greets Yossi quickly before running back to the kitchen.
“She sure looks busy…”
Yossi wonders what kind of food will be served later.
“Wanna watch any movie?’ Makoto opens a drawer on the TV console to reveal a collection of DVDs.
“It’s ok, I’ll just relax.” Yossi extends her legs under the small table and lies down, hands fully stretched. “So you’re living together now?”
“No. I only come here on my rest day, although sometimes I do stay over.” Makoto says sheepishly.
“ii naaaaaa~~~ it’s great to be in love.”
“Cut your bullshit, Yoshizawa-san. Well… you can too. I know girls will queue from Tokyo to Osaka to date you.”
“Joker. Nah… I don’t have time for that, already my schedule is killing me. I will rather spend my free time catching up on sleep. Besides it’s too tedious to fall in love.”
“Alright~ So you choose not to have one, and don’t go around envying people.” Makoto jabs.
“Kuso…People who are in love are really arrogant ne? Not to mention the complete lack of compassion for others.”
Makoto ignores Yossi. “I still remember the methods you teach me to woo her.”
“MUKATSUKU!”
The two girls lie alongside and laugh at each other’s dig. And Makoto feels she is the happiest person in the world because she has Konno who loves her dearly.

“During dinner, Yoshizawa-san doesn’t look right, ne?”
“She’s … ju_just envy of us”
Makoto manages to say it as she kisses Konno’s neck, savoring the sweet scent that has lingered from a bath.
“It’s a pity ne, I always thought she and Ishikawa-san make a nice pair.”

Miki sneaks up behind Yossi who is busy pressing buttons on her cell phone. “Kasan, what’s cooking tonight? Miss you.” She reads out loud.
“Oi! That’s rude.” Yossi hurriedly hides her cell phone under her T-shirt.
“Geez, never knew you’re a mummy’s girl.”
Yossi feels her ears turning red.
“Alright, so I presume you won’t join me for dinner later tonight even if I ask huh?” Miki asks as she walks to the front of the sofa and sits down besides Yossi.
“Why? Quarrel again?” Yossi mocks.
“Ya, envy?”
“My foot.’ Laughs Yossi.
“Actually, everything is fine, just too fine…” Miki’s voice fades off.
Yossi can hear that Miki sounds troubled. She looks around the gakuya, only Takahashi and Risa are at one end, share reading a magazine, it seems convenient to talk.
“Doushitano?”
As usual, Miki takes awhile warming up before she confides. “Ano saa~ Do all couples end up like this?”
“Like this?” Yossi is puzzled.
“You know… we meet, we have dinner, and we sleep together. Everything has become so routine.”
“It’s like that isn’t it?”
Yossi sees Miki gaping at her.
“I mean for me, if I’m dating, it doesn’t matter what we are doing. Even cuddling on the sofa and doing nothing makes me happy.” Yossi explains.
“Oh… I’ll think that’s quite romantic, but she’ll never do that. A waste of time she’ll say.”
“I’m sure you two have romantic moments too, right?”
“You mean like doing things only she enjoy? Shopping for her clothes? Eating at her favorite restaurant? Watching her favorite movies?” Miki sulks

Suddenly, Miki moves her face close to Yossi and asks “You think I’m attractive?”
Unprepared at all, Yossi moves back. She looks at Takahashi and Risa, good thing they did not see Miki’s act.
“How?” Miki moves closer.
Yossi’s heart skips a beat, she always has a soft spot for girls with small sharp noses and expressive eyes with a vague glint of villainess and Miki definitely fits the description.
“Yes” She straightens her posture and says.
“Thanks.” Miki lies back on the sofa, satisfied. “But I know I turn to the wrong guy for advice.”
“Excuse me? What are you implying?”
“Look at yourself, you’re so eligible and yet so SINGLE. None of the pretty girls around interests you at all? Are you really gay?”
“Snub all you want, I won’t mind.”
“Really? I think Makochan fare better than you.”
“Ok, now I’m offended…”
Takahashi and Risa look up at the two beautiful girls who are laughing heartily. Risa gives Takahashi a cheeky look, the later knows what she is thinking, their seniors will make a great pair.

Miki sees a frown forming on Yossi and quickly changes the topic. “Ok, tonight’s celebration, yakiniku and karaoke, who’s on?”
“Sorry Mikitty, I’m not going, I’m having dinner with my kasan.”
“Ah, don’t be a spoilsport!” Miuna protests.
“Let her go, Miuna. Her family always come first.”
“Thanks!” Yossi winks, appreciating Miki’s considerate thought.
“Yoshizawa-san. Come here please.”
Yossi walks toward the coach, wondering what he wants from her.
“Your manager called, he needs to have a meeting with you, go after training, right?”
“Yes.”

“… Yaguchi’s incident really puts the group in a bad light and with your graduation approaching, there are bound to be speculation whether you will follow Yaguchi’s path. So, we want you two to have this bonding, especially on stage, I want to see more interaction, ok? Create some smokescreen, got it?”
Yossi and Rika nods.
“No doubt the management always emphasize against it, this time is different. It’s an order. This is a secret agenda for both of you and you aren’t supposed to disclose it to anyone. You’re adults already, and you know all decisions the company made is for everyone’s wellness so I believe both of you will understand the company’s stand and will comply with it?”
Yossi and Rika nods again…

The area backstage is quite small yet Yossi has no qualms playing there, she kicks hard at the soccer ball, aiming for the wall but it hits a pole near the wall and bounces off at a weird angle, heading straight at Miki who just happens to pass by.

Miki turns around just in time to catch the offensive ball with her hands.

Yossi smiles apologetically and signal to Miki to pass the ball.
“No way.” Miki sticks out her tongue and hides the ball behind her back.
“Suits you then.” Yossi shrugs, then walks towards the wall and sits down against it.

Yossi catches the ball thrown at her.
“You know I’m not.”
“Then, what’s wrong?’ Miki squats besides Yossi and puts an arm over her shoulders.
“Nothing…”
“Ermm… I don’t see Rika around?” Miki asks deliberately then she sees Yossi’s eyes shift uncomfortably. “Yappari ne…”
“No, that’s not what you think…” Yossi retorts.
“You DARE to tell me NO? You think I didn’t notice how you get all touchy with Rika during concerts when privately both of you don’t even give a hoot to one another…”
Yossi lowers her head, she gets increasingly uneasy with every word she hears, and Miki finally hit the nail on the coffin. “Are you under some kind of pressure?”
The way Yossi looks back at her, Miki knows she got it right this time.
“Mikitty…” Yossi speaks at last. “Do you agree that sometimes we have to act against our wishes?”
Miki nods, she knows best because if she has a choice, she will not join momusu, she will not wear those skimpy costumes and she will not mind telling the world she and Aya are in love.
“So a white lie is ok?”
Miki hesitates…“Yes, if it’s told to protect someone.”
“Alright then!” Yossi suddenly becomes revitalized “I’m hungry now, let’s go get a bite.”
Miki is left confused. Yossi’s random mood change and all the weird dialogues. She is dying to know the truth but knows it is useless to continue probing because Yossi is an equally obstinate girl, just like her.

“Just go and ask.”

“Damn it, and you want me to ask when you already know?”

Makoto looks at Miki with feigned disgust.

There is a long pause although Makoto expects Miki to say something.
“Did you hear me?”
“Ya…”
“Then?”
“No comments.”
“Right!” Makoto smacks her forehead. “I’ve forgotten you’re never interested in matters that don’t concern you. Never mind, I’ll check it out.”
“Ok, Wish you all the best.” Miki answers flatly.

“Yeah, we can…” Yossi leans forward and whispers into Miki’s ears. Both of them giggle after that.

The filming crew packs up and leaves.
(11.15pm now, it’s past midnight in Japan)
Yossi fidgets with her cell phone, wondering if she should make a long-distance call back.
“I’m sleeping here tonight.” Miki says then leaves the room, Yossi guesses she must have gone to her own room to bring her belongings over. Yossi hurriedly sends an email, she knows she will not have the opportunity when Miki comes back. The later has become quite a busybody recently, always probing and asking questions.

“Did you call Aya?” Yossi asks in the dark, knowing Miki is still awake.
“She’ll call if she misses me.” Miki answers straightly.
Yossi is not surprised when Miki sounded indifferent. She and Aya had been going on a rough patch for some time now. It’s been a on and off thing.
“I know it’s not my business, but if you let this go on, it’s going to be unhealthy to the relationship.”
Miki pulls up her blankets, causing a loud rustle in the quiet room. Yossi secretly curses herself, she knows her words aren’t music to Miki’s ears. She should not have touch on the sensitive topic.
Then she hears whimpers coming under the blankets. Yossi sits up and listens carefully. No doubt about it, the sobs are coming from Miki. She wonders if she should go over to the next bed to console Miki.
Yossi puts her hand on the blanket covering Miki’s head. “I’m sorry…”
It takes awhile before a tearful Miki pops her head out of the blanket. She sits up and breaks down again in Yossi’s arms. Yossi pats on Miki’s back, it pains her to see her friend so tormented. She feels sorry for Miki. She has seen the efforts Miki puts into the relationship and how it often ends up unreciprocated. Miki definitely deserves someone better.
“Maybe it’s time to let go?” Yossi somehow let the words slips out…
Miki is taken back with Yossi’s words. She has asked herself this question umpteen times and even now Yossi is thinking the same? She looks up, eyes fixed on Yossi’s. Even in the dark, she can clearly see the pair of gentle eyes which is showing the concern the owner feels (for her).
Images of the kiss she once shared with Yossi flashes in her mind. Although she has kept it well-hidden in her heart, reminded herself never to think about it again, but now that feeling has been awakened. Miki closes her eyes, fearing she will lose control if she will to look another minute into those soulful eyes.
Yossi holds Miki tight, hoping to give her friend strength and courage. The way Miki looks at her just now, she knows Miki is opening up, finally willing to face the problem she has with Aya.
“When you get back, have a nice talk with her…”
“…I will…” Miki nods.
“So now, We’ll just have fun in Hong Kong, don’t brood over the unhappy things.”
Miki nods again.

A sense of loneliness engulfs her, after a tiring three days outstation trip, she never expects to return to a empty house, the worst part, her family does not even bother to inform her about their absence. She takes out her cell phone and press on the speed dial…
‘calling…. Okaasan’ it reads.
Yossi walks into her room and drops her luggage, she looks at her cell phone again, the wordings ‘line busy.’ flash on the screen. (Even she’s not answering?). In a fit of frustration, she throws her cell phone on her bed.
Then she feels someone slips her arms from behind and hug her. Instead of getting a rude shock, a smile escapes from Yossi’s face, the touch is too familiar.
“Okaeri.” Rika whispers into Yossi’s ears, making sure her lips gently brush against Yossi’s ear lobes.
Yossi turns around and hugs Rika tightly. “I miss you so badly.” She says, rubbing her nose against Rika’s.
“I miss you too.” Rika looks lovingly at her girlfriend, three days do seem like three years…
“No wonder I can’t get you on the phone just now…” Yossi says, pressing her forehead against her lover’s, and moving their bodies from side to side.
“Surprise for you.” Rika cooed.
“So how should I thank you?” Yossi smiles cheekily then lifts up Rika and carries her to the bed. The pitiful looking Yossi makes Rika laugh from the heart. She knows Yossi can force the kiss on her anytime and she understands why Yossi is holding back. It is because Yossi truly loves her and will never force her to do things against her will.
