君が代 / Kimigayo is the national anthem of Japan. Based on a poem written a thousand years ago, set to music written about 130 years ago, it can be performed with lyrics or without. First version is played with classical instruments. Second version is also an instrumental by Tak Matsumoto.

Hah nice thread !
But you guys are missing Buckethead :)

Here's a bit of information copied and pasted from wikipedia... sorry im a lazy kind of guy...

Brian Carroll (born May 13, 1969), better known by his stage name Buckethead, is a virtuoso guitarist, and multi instrumentalist who encompasses several genres of music. He has released 30 studio albums, four special releases and an EP as of 2010. He has performed on over 50 more albums by other artists. His music spans such diverse areas as progressive metal, funk, blues, jazz, bluegrass, ambient, and avant-garde music.

When performing in his theatrical persona, Buckethead used to wear a KFC bucket on his head, emblazoned with an orange bumper sticker that reads FUNERAL in capital black block letters, and an expressionless plain white costume mask. More recently, he has switched to a plain white bucket no longer bearing the KFC logo. He also incorporates nunchucks and robot dancing into his stage performances.[2][3] Buckethead's persona represents a character who was "raised by chickens" and has made it his "mission in life to alert the world to the ongoing chicken holocaust in fast-food joints around the globe."[4]

An instrumentalist, Buckethead is best known for his electric guitar playing.[5] He has been voted number 8 on a list in GuitarOne magazine of the "Top 10 Greatest Guitar Shredders of All Time"[6] as well as being included in Guitar World's lists of the "25 all-time weirdest guitarists"[7] and is also known for being in the "50 fastest guitarists of all time list".[8]

Buckethead performs primarily as a solo artist. He has collaborated extensively with a wide variety of high profile artists such as Bill Laswell, Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell, Iggy Pop, Les Claypool, Serj Tankian, Bill Moseley, Mike Patton, Viggo Mortensen, and was a member of Guns N' Roses from 2000 to 2004. Buckethead has also written and performed music for major motion pictures, including: Saw II, Ghosts of Mars, Beverly Hills Ninja, Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Last Action Hero, and the main soundtrack of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.

And now, some video to boot :
This one, he's playing with Primus , that guy on the bass is no other than the legendary Les Claypool

And his solo stuff:

Hope you guys enjoy the music

Some good, relaxing shit I've been listening to lately:

Chillwave, as the cool kids call it I'm told, from Michigan, USA. You can listen to the whole Swim ep at
http://wishingwars.bandcamp.com/

Check out at least the tracks Beach, Swim and Sleep. Great stuff.

Sun Glitters sound is an ocean of lush melodies, pitch-shifted vocal samples, ghostly digi-diva choirs, warm bass melodies driven by alternately dense and relaxing beatwork combinations between downtempo and wonky beats.

 RIYL:
Boards of Canada, Burial, Balam Acab
What they said. Yet again you can listen to the whole new album at the bandcamp page.

Last but not least, Blue Sky Black Death just put out a new album, Noir. Fucking great stuff, amazing album. I love how these guys manage to keep sounding fresh and kinda new, yet you can instantly tell it's BSBD.

And here's a recent interview with the guys: http://www.onemic.net/article-blue-sky-black-death-the-interview-73211941.html

from DangThaoNguyen - the description of this piece  “Sakura Sakura is a very popular Japanese folk song depicting spring, the season of cherry blossom. The song is particularly dedicated to Japanese VICTIMS OF THE EARTH QUAKE AND TSUMAMI with the hope that the SPRING AND CHERRY BLOSSOMS WILL COME BACK TO THEIR LIFE
The song is arranged for Guitar by Yukihiro Yoko who uses different guitar techniques to imitate the sound of the koto.”
