The Simpsons is an American animated television sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical parody of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by its eponymous family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional city of Springfield, and lampoons American culture, society and television, and many aspects of the human condition. The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a pitch for a series of animated shorts with the producer James L. Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and was an early hit for Fox, becoming the first Fox series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989–1990).

Since its debut on December 17, 1989 the show has broadcast 441 episodes and the twentieth season began airing on September 28, 2008. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 26 and July 27, 2007, and grossed US$527 million worldwide. The Simpsons has won dozens of awards since it debuted as a series, including 24 Primetime Emmy Awards, 26 Annie Awards and a Peabody Award. Time magazine's December 31, 1999 issue named it the 20th century's best television series, and on January 14, 2000 the Simpson family was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest running American primetime entertainment series. Homer's annoyed grunt "D'oh!" has been adopted into the English lexicon, while The Simpsons has influenced many adult-oriented animated sitcoms.

Yep. It's still on. It sagged for awhile, but lately it's been more good than not. It's still more consistently funny than South Park or Family Guy.

Where to start...

Season 2 through season 8 are the golden years imo!

Favorite episodes include:
- Homer VS New York
- The Japan episode
- The last exit to Springfield: this is the one where Homer joined to union to get the dental plan back.. love the music during Lisa's laughing gas trip.

Favorite characters: Homer (duh), Mr Burns, Krusty

So many awesome quotes originated from this series.. I couldn't imagine my life without the Simpsons.

Man I watched The Simpsons so much when I was younger. So much so that the epsidoe of Homer not going to church was shown here on TV recently and found I could still quote every line. Goes without saying that it's one of my favourite episdoes, but the greatest episode is where Homer goes to college.

Marge Simpson has done something that Homer might not like but will make Bart the proudest kid in his school: She's posed for Playboy magazine.

After more than a half century featuring women like Marilyn Monroe, Cindy Crawford and the Girls of Hooters on its cover, Playboy has for the first time given the spot to a cartoon character.

And the magazine is giving the star of "The Simpsons" the star treatment, complete with a data sheet, an interview and a 2-page centerfold.

dang, just heard about the Simpsons intro that Banksy (world renowned street artist) directed for Oct 10.2010

Simpsons (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX1iplQQJTo#ws)

Darkest depressing intro of the simpsons ever. Apparently Simpsons is actually animated in Korea. But they are really not treated like that =)

Banksy was the first ever to be called in and help direct probably the most famous animated TV series today. He definitely made it something to remember.

The latest is season 21 and yeah, they're absolutely worth to watch. It's the funniest non crappy cartoon I've ever watched.

They only air old episodes around here, so I decided to download season 21.

It's been massively disappointing so far. Nowhere near the quality of the first 10 seasons.  :( I did noticed they re-vamped the intro. Looks really tight.

The Simpsons will always have a special place in my life, but the quality of the episodes has been going downhill for years now.

holy shit. saw this on http://tstotopix.me/2014/01/18/premium-real-life-guide-simpsons-lego-house/ (http://tstotopix.me/2014/01/18/premium-real-life-guide-simpsons-lego-house/) Simpsons Lego WOULD YOU COP?!

Quote
For only $199 this February you can own your very own 2523 piece Lego Simpsons set. At 12 pieces per dollar you can bring the simpsons house to your home with Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and Flanders.

$199 is a steep price for a set of legos but lets look at the cost of this set in tapped out:

Home – Free

Bart – $25000 (With Bart’s Tree House)

Lisa – $135 (With Simpsons House)

Marge – $32000 (With Moe’s Tavern)

Ned Flanders – $540 (With Flanders House)

Thats $57,675 in Tapped Out, so for a measly 0.3% of the cost you can have your own in 3D! Now I know what your thinking, ‘but thats not real money’ and to that I say stop talking to your computer/phone! Think about this though, you can have the simpsons house or 2 boatloads of doughnuts equalling 4800 doughnuts.

 DAMN! gotta stop buying donuts ....if they make a talking Sideshow Bob tho...

I dunno. with lego tie-in the typical figure/face is moulded to look like the real deal, just the body is typical Lego.
