Tomoko seems to be aware of the whole thing before word got out, but as Commanding Officer, she refused to intervene by invoking Captain's Mast because being close to Sayuki, she fear she could not remain objective and impartial when advising/disciplining her subleader. Thus, to avoid further high level scrutiny before the chain of command vis a vis an Admiral's Mast disciplinary hearing, Sayuki decided to avoid humiliation by resigning from the service altogether...What a sad day for all of us...       Really a crying shame because she is truly one rare gem of a talent the Fleet has ever nurtured to its full potential.

I guess Akari Uemura could expect a promotion to Executive Officer soon.
