Yes, you have to register (it's free), but you need a Chinese street address. I started applying, got my confirmation e-mail, but I cannot complete the registration because they ask for a mailing address (I guess to send merchandise should you buy it from them). So you cannot download the wallpapers or watch the videos (all the girls and the other H!P artists have recorded video messages for the chinese fans) unless you're registered.

I created a guide to registering for the chinese site over at the Some Boys! Blog (http://someboys.wordpress.com/schedule/chinesehpguide/)

@Reyfer: It was probably something else (the Chinese ID card number perhaps?) you were having problems with because I was able to register under the address "123 fake street."

The rest of the wallpapers:

yeah... the power of Chinese in Hello! Project begins.
But wait.... the site is from Taiwan... umm... I shouldn't go into further about this.

The fact that they make the site into simple navigation makes it better to surf around.
oh... and I also registered too XD

[translation]
[Junjun & Linlin message]

Junjun & Linlin: Hello everyone!
Junjun: I am Junjun. (pronounced ChunChun...)
Linlin: I am Linlin. The Good Morning Family's official Chinese website has come out!
Junjun: Please, everybody, you have to come see it.

[Morning Musume message]

Morning Musume: Hello everyone!
...
Linlin: We're very much anticipating going to Taiwan soon [lit: quickly go to Taiwan]
Junjun: and having a concert soon. [not sure if it translates as concert... it's something to do with singing.]

So the official Chinese name of Hello!Project more or less translates as "Good Morning Family", which I find entertaining. (Good morning as in the greeting, not a morning that's excellent...)

[edit: Morning Musume's new Chinese name is "Good Morning Young Girl Group". Biyuuden's new name has the same meaning, but sounds different and has a new third character. ("beauty" ("bi" in japanese) and "strength" ("yuu") have the same characters in Simplified Chinese and Kanji.)]

Also of interest: Probably, Junjun is of the opinion that Morning Musume will sing in Taiwan. Of course, she doesn't specify "in Taiwan", so she may be talking about her MoMusu debut, but Taiwan is implied.

YES a chinese site. Something I can understand for once. <3

I'll help translate stuff too, if anyone needs me to.

-goes to media area and starts looking through videos-

Most of the messages are mostly like "Hi I/we are so-and-so. Hello Project's official Taiwan site is finally open! Please check in regularly for news!". Yeah, more or less. XD

Quote
[Morning Musume message]

Yeah it translates as concert. :) Like how Junjun finishes Linlin's sentence. :D

Satoda Mai's message is long. o_o
Translation as follows:

Mai: Hi everyone! Greetings to all the fans in Taiwan, I am Satoda Mai of Country Musume! H!P's official Taiwan site is finally open! As this is an increasingly globalised world, I wish to become a global artiste too. Knowing Japanese is no longer enough, I wish to learn Mandarin and Taiwanese, and well as all sorts of other languages. Hopefully I will be able to go to Taiwan in the future, and it would be great to be able to communicate with all of you there. Even though there's a great distance between us (I think she's not referring to physical distance, probably more on personal connection), I hope we can work on closing that distance. There are many special media clips and computer wallpapers available, as well as interesting related activities on the site, so everyone please feel free to check them out. This has been Satoda Mai of Country Musume!

Gawd damn, that was long. They need to install a pause button for me to translate, darn it.

Ok, getting sleepy now. XD Will continue at another time.

great website, kool.  and the kool fact is that MoMusu and H!P is actually going on an international stage, (China/Taiwan at the moment). Just thinking about how they're expanding their activities into different countries and culture is kool. anticipating they're international debut in the West.  hope they'll become successful, wish them the best of luck.  Hope the Chinese will give them lots of support.

means almost nothing to me, cuz i live in USA. but with them debuting in China, there's might be a possibility of them debuting in USA as well. i wonder how they'll do over here if they decide to... but we'll see how they will do in Taiwan and china.
Also... would there be a possibility of them releasing chinese singles?  singing in mandarin or taiwanese?

Can't go anywhere in the site without getting a popup and then asking for more info.
No idea what any of it means.
Och well, it was good while it lasted!

Same happened to me, turns out all they were asking was my real international address, because they are monitoring IP addresses, so they know we are not in China. So, I entered my real name, my real address, and I still have access. Just can't buy anything from the store, and won't be able to upgrade for the Fan Club. But I can still download the free content, and have access to the diferent sections.

They had five americans in Coconuts Musume, and still never even tried to set an american site. Truth is, the moment they (UFA) decides to commercially promote the groups in USA and Europe, then maybe we will have the official site. But since the concept is so different from western show biz, and the way to do business is even more different, I don't see that happening soon. We can only hope that they decide to accept foreign fans into full Japan FC membership status.

yes, you can get into the international Fans Club @ the H!P Official Chinese Site (but YOU HAVE TO KNOW CHINESE, because if you mess up some info, NOBODY can help you .........)

Well, technically, you don't REALLY have to know Chinese to sign up, but if you can't understand what's posted, there is very little point.

that's true ...

but if you mess up the personal infos,  FC members can ask them to change ONLY via E-mail (regular members CANNOT change them) so be careful what you input.... (that's why I think knowing Chinese is really important)

Chokkan2 did you get the member packet?  I already received my previous order but did not get the welcome kit yet...

You can sign up at the H!P Chinese site. You need to know Chinese because you will need to read their rules, terms, fees (if apply), etc when you sign up.

There are two kinds of memberships (regular members and Fan Club members)

Regular memberships: FREE . You can buy stuff online with their regular listed price (their S&H may be higher). However, you will have very limited access to the website and unable to buy concert tickets.

FC members: have to pay membership fee, but you can get the FC price for all the stuff that are on sell @ the Site, get full access to the website (FC only videos, wallpapers, etc), and you'll be able to buy concert tickets online

if you sign up as FC members, you will get the same benefits even if you live outside of Taiwan. However, you wont be able to order DVDs and CDs, and you wont get the FC membership Cards and Newsletters ....

NOTE : if you mess up the personal infos when you sign up,  FC members can ask them to change ONLY via E-mail (regular members CANNOT change them) NO ONE CAN HELP YOU, so be careful what you input.... that's why I think knowing Chinese is really important (at least know what they are asking)

PM me if got any questions ^_^ I'll try my best to answer them XD

Well, technically, you don't REALLY have to know Chinese to sign up, but if you can't understand what's posted, there is very little point.

that's true also

EDIT :

For those who chose to become a FC member

Remember to re-new your membership every year !!   pay the membership fee at least 3 months before it expires ~

Instructions on how to become an overseas (not in Japan) fan club member (Requires Visa/ Mastercard, costs ~60USD) and passport number.
YES, you can join from most countries of the world, please look through the instructions before using them
I can't emphasize it enough, PLEASE use real data when registering for member! It's used for various member validation, especially product shipping. The info should be as secure as a normal online shopping site, so being truthful is for your benefit.  It is difficult to change (requires Chinese knowledge to write a e-mail) once you've entered the data

Is there anyone here who is a FC member of the Chinese site who would be willing to rip/capture the short Berryz videos on there? I can't find them anywhere else.

If I find a good screen capture program is someone willing to record it off their screen? That should work. I haven't gotten any of them to work properly on my computer yet but maybe that's because I am running Vista.

If you could take a screenshot of what the player looks like it might help to figure out how to record it.

Edit:

You could use Camtasia, there is a 30 day free trial
http://www.techsmith.com/download/camtasiatrialthx.asp

Once you dl that go to into tools>options switch from Save as CAMREC to Save as AVI

Go to the video tab and change the screen capture frame rate to 30 frames per second

For video compression Xvid is probably a good codec to go with, then go to configure and set the quality bar to a number less than 3.00

Make sure you set the audio to record your line in and not your microphone

Then just set it to record the region of the screen where the video is

btw it's my understanding these videos will disappear like within the next week ^^;

Oh that's awesome! I think it'll be much cheaper too than buying stuff from the auctions.

Can anyone tell me the price for shipping (to the Philippines, if possible)? I don't know how to read Chinese at all, and I'm afraid a translator isn't all that reliable..

Also, just how to shop there, basically. I have no clue!

EDIT: I also registered with the guide someone set up, but does anyone know how I can edit my profile so I can put my actual address? And what's with the ID number we're asked to fill in, does it have to be legit for me to buy stuff from the site?

It's a shame that you put in bad info,; as Chokkan2 and my guide pointed out, Changing info once you submitted is difficult and requires knowledge of Chinese

Your question preceded my post by a bit.  I've been putting together a shopping guide.  It'll be ready in a bit.  I still have to UL the images

Shopping Guide:
Generally, you can buy stuff as long as you're a member of the HP Taiwan site (doesn't have to be a paying FC member). Paying FC members get a ~5% discount. There is no formula for overseas shipping, basically, it's calculated as a part of the checkout process

If you haven't registered, register with my registration guide (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=11383.msg395062#msg395062).  It should look like:
(http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/8576/hpmainke4.th.png) (http://img521.imageshack.us/my.php?image=hpmainke4.png)
If not, log in:

Select the products you like
Please keep in mind that almost all DVDs will NOT ship outside TW, HK and Macau, in fact, it will not allow you to add it to the basket.  The only ones that will are DVD magazines and things that are not sold in retail. With CDs, they only ship to TW, HK, China and Macau.
Pretty much everything else (photos, t-shirts, towels, keychains, etc) will ship pretty much anywhere they let you register from.

If you selected your proper country, as indicated in step 5, then it will not have that section.
That section is for Taiwan only.  If you chose a non-Taiwan country, you get a page like step 6 of  my registration guide (http://forum.jphip.com/index.php?topic=11383.msg395062#msg395062)

Thanks so much for that guide, auroragb!!

I know I registered already, but I guess I'll just re-register again with my real data this time. The only real info I gave was my first and last name.

EDIT: With the passport/ID number they ask for? Does it have to be real? Because I don't plan to buy concert tickets from them.
Title: Re: Hello! Project OFFICIAL CHINESE SITE

AFAIK, the passport ID will only be used for validation of ticketholder.  So, it's not necessary for it to be real.

AFAIK, the passport ID will only be used for validation of ticketholder.  So, it's not necessary for it to be real.

However, I recommend you to give them your REAL PASSPORT ID ........

IF you're 100% sure that you WILL NOT going to any of their concerts or FC events in the future, I think it's ok to give them random numbers

The only things I'd consider buying now from the site would be the DVDs, since they're apparently half the price of the Japanese ones.

I compared prices with the rest of the official merchandise, and they're pretty much the same in Japan, I think. I can always get them for a lower price on the auctions too, eventually.

Same thing with CDs.  I think it's that their contract does not allow them to sell outside TW, HK, and Macau

hmmm... I thought the age info was entered after getting the validation e-mail? did it reject you just based on the e-mail address?

I guess it's because many 15 yr olds don't have credit cards...

I think you can bypass it by lying ....

HOWEVER, I don't recommend lying about your info .... because if they found out, THEY'LL BAN YOU ......... I'm not sure if that's only applies to FC members or to all members ....

From the videos on the site
What foods do you like to have in summer?
Umeda Erika
Speaking of summer foods,
you got to have edamame.
that's what I always say
Other than that,
it has to be shaved ice
you got to have shaved ice
honeydew flavored, of course
I eat it a lot over summer vacation
I would eat it until I get a headache
I love eating edamame and shaved ice

Yajima Maimi
Speaking of summer foods,
The best, and my favorite, is cherries
And,
I also really like watermelons
Whether Cherries or watermelons
because they're so sweet
so I really like them

Okai Chisato
In summer, the thing I like to eat is
tantanmen
tantanmen and juice soda
The reason is
because tantanmen is spicy
so you can keep slurping
So it tastes great
And juice
but it's juice soda
you add ice
and gugugu drink up
I think it's great

Nakajima Saki,
I'm C-ute's Nakajima Saki
Speaking of summer foods
It should be watermelons
Other than oranges, my favorite is watermelons
Before heading to school
When I'm not fully awake
I would be refreshed after eating some watermelons
Then I'd feel ready for school
How many have I eaten so far?
Every time... how should I put it
with older sis, kid sis, mom, grandma, pop
There are six in my family
then we'd all share
so I don't think I'd eat that much
If there's a chance I'd want to try a challenge

Hagiwara Mai,
This is C-ute's Hagiwara Mai
Me when it's summer
because it's so hot
so I want to eat ice
I think that when you eat ice in the heat
I feel great to the MAX
I love eating ice

Arihara Kanna,
This C-ute's Arihara Kanna
Something I'd want to eat when it's summer
though I like to eat it in all seasons
it's honeydew
last year I had two
this year, I hope to have three

Suzuki Airi,
When it's summer
Something I drink a lot
recently mom often use the juicer to make drinks for me
she mixes a lot of vegetables and fruits
like putting in milk and banana
to make banana milk
and strawberry milk
and use grapefruit, oranges and other fruits
all mixed together to make fresh juice
I really love drinking it

hey

Not only us, Taiwanese FC members also didn't get their ID and the newsletter yet  ......

sheen @ the H!P Chinese Site forum said the FC is fixing this problem ....
Quote
會員證有大大詢問過~ 豐華方面說是還在製作當中,
有關於會報.. 近期日方也有延發,所以豐華方面應該也有受到影響;

I think we (overseas member) may get our ID & newsletters after all XD  Link to that thread (http://www.helloproject.com.tw/forum_posts.asp?TID=474)  (and yeah, that's me asking for money back XD)

They are on a roll
MM Concert Goods (http://helloproject.com.tw/product.asp?AID=1&SID=11)
Viyuden Concert Goods (http://helloproject.com.tw/product.asp?AID=20&SID=11)
Matsuura Aya Concert Goods (http://helloproject.com.tw/product.asp?AID=17&SID=11)
Abe Natsumi Concert Goods (http://helloproject.com.tw/product.asp?AID=5&SID=11)
There is a run on the MM goods, so some are on back order.  Most of the Abe goods are on backorder
Basically, any item that has lots of blue text has stock and an item that has 2 rows of blue text is on back order
To streamline, they've disallowed mixing of in-stock and back ordered goods.
It's past my bedtime and I've been shopping for the past hour.  I'll try to update tomorrow, but it might be in the weekend

Well, still no winter goods on the TW site.

Also got my FC card and FC mag issue 38 a couple of weeks ago. They were shipped on Jan 18. Only members that joined before Oct 1 2007 got issue 38.  The delay was due to slow  translation.  I suspect they had staffing issues on translators and lag in getting approval from HP HQ in Japan.

Issue 39 will be shipped mid Feb. This issue should cover Oct-Dec 2007.  I think that the numbering is in synch with JP versions and with this issue, TW FC will be up to date (according to the JP FC site: http://www.helloproject.com/fanclub/01/02/list.html)

To be fair.  Shipping speed has greatly improved since the last batch of goods, where they differentiated between the ready to ship / in stock goods vs items that need to be back ordered. The ready to ship items arrived only ~10 days after order for me and I'm in NY

Unfortunately, the chances of us getting a shot at the Winter goods are pretty dim :( IMHO, this is a mistake on HP's part. Chinese New Year just passed and many people are flush with red envelope money.  If they listed any items last week, it would be snapped up straight away. If they wait any longer, the other temptations for the red envelope money will be too strong and will get much weaker response
