One more thing about Kim Chaewon being a robot, check out this clip:

The way she goes "Waahh!" feels so fake, it's hilarious.

Just a touch of Miu's love~

Backstage fluff best fluff. The performances were fun - especially the dance perfs, because 99% of ballads put me to sleep - though the audience was just completely random again, getting some stuff right, some stuff wrong, some stuff, eh.

Han Chowon winning overall vocal vote: well deserved (tho you could argue for Haeyoon), she looked amazing and sang her ass off. Her vocals were very surprising. Beautiful stuff.
Sae Murase winning overall dance vote: well, this is more subjective than the vocals again, I guess. I think the audience was very horny, or Sae's "Would you like to be mine" really seduced people.

That actually makes me think, I wonder if the audience would vote differently if the girls didn't get their "final pitch" after the performance. Because then stuff like a Japanese girl cutely saying something in Korean wouldn't affect, you know, your actual vocal/dance prowess that you were supposed to be judged upon. Eh, who knows. #JustIdolThings anyway.

Roster Updates after ep 7

1
=
Choi Yena (Yuehua, 1999) #9

Nothing new this week. Is absolutely safe, but could slip out of the top 12 in the elimination rankings.
2
=
Ahn Yujin (Starship, 2003) #2

Nothing new this week. Should be top five.
3
=
Heo Yunjin (Pledis, 2001) #22

Bit of a shitty edit but pulled through. I thought she was clearly the best out of her group but... can't trust mnet, vocal filtering, or the audience. Scored highly in any case. Should be top 12.
4
=
Miu Shitao (AKB48, 2001) #36

Absolutely the best of her group, but eh, the audience is just like a random number generator. Her star has been on the rise though (she's a naver favorite), so she should be safe.
5
=
Nako Yabuki (HKT48, 2001) #7

Nako got the angel edit and played the game perfectly. Her vocals were passable, but cuteness and personality win idol contests. Should be top five.
6
=
Park Haeyoon (FNC, 1996) #43

Probably deserved to win the overall vocal vote but again, there's too many moving parts and the audience is highly unreliable. Should be safe.
7
+2
Aoi Motomura (HKT48, 1997) #44

First I thought she had the best outfit and performance but observed as a whole that outfit might have blended into the background and screwed her... a real shame. Probably a goner.
8
+4
Han Chowon (Cube, 2002) #47

Overall win was a real boon for her and ensured her safety through the next elimination. She could even enter top 12.
9
-1
Miyu Takeuchi (AKB48, 1996) #11

Sang well, although audience reports weren't good, so could be angel filtering. Koreans love her, so she should be top 12.
10
-3
Miru Shiroma (NMB48, 1997) #16

Almost won the overall dance (horndog) vote. Should be safe, although no idea where she'll rank.
11
-1
Lee Chaeyeon (WM, 2000) #10

Nothing new this week. Could slip out of the top 12.
12
-1
Jang Wonyoung (Starship, 2004) #3

Nothing new this week. Should be top five.

Watchlist:

Lee Haeun - Did great, but didn't stand out enough and placed last. Sad to see her go, but it seems inevitable.
Kim Chaewon - Cute robot got her first proper screentime, and did well. Should be safe.
Hitomi Honda - Did well, I read that she was sick or something during the perf though. Should be safe, perhaps top 12.
Kwon Eunbi - Should be top 12.
Jo Yuri - Should be safe.

Ep08 was a rollercoaster!

First of all, a quick look at the girls we lost this round.

- We lost pretty much all the cute Japanese girls. Bibian, Aoi, Misaki, Erii, Minami, Noe, Nanami...
- We also lost several 48G veterans like Saho, Mako and Tomu.
- Out of my top 12, I think I only lost Kim Hyunah, which was expected.
- The worst thing for me this episode, was probably losing Ko Yu-jin. I was really looking forwards to her upcoming performance, which now will never happen.

When I opened Twitter by accident, I saw everybody tweeting about Takeuchi Miyu.
Based on the tone of the messages, I figured she didn't make the cut. I was surprised to see she actually did make it, albeit at the very last spot.
Personally I'm not particularly fond of Miyu on any level, so to see Ko Yu-jin leave instead of her was a tough pill to swallow.
Or, if Murae Sae hadn't robbed Shiroma Miru, then it also would've been fine. lol

Who do we have left?

- Kang Hye Won pwing like a boss, haha. After they announced Kim Min-ju, I actually thought she wasn't gonna make it. Sato Minami sob story was pretty sad.
- Good to see many of my favorites ranking up. Jo Yuri, Kim Chaewon, etc. all did well.

Yeah, not much to say otherwise. Everything is progressing pretty smoothly I'd say!

Mnet posted midweek rankings - each voter only has 2 picks now instead of 12 - and the results are pretty wild!

01. Miyawaki Sakura +6
02. Kang Hyewon +1
03. Miyazaki Miho +24
04. Takeuchi Miyu +26
05. Lee Gaeun +3
06. Shitao Miu +16
07. Yabuki Nako -5
08. Jang Wonyoung -7
09. Honda Hitomi +3
10. Lee Chaeyeon +7
11. Kwon Eunbi -6
12. Kim Chaewon +3
13. Han Chowon -4
14. Shiroma Miru -1
15. Takahashi Juri +5
16. Jo Yuri -6
17. Ahn Yujin -13
18. Choi Yena -2
19. Park Haeyoon -1
20. Kim Nayoung +1
21. Kim Doa +2
22. Kim Minju -16
23. Jang Gyuri +3
24. Murase Sae +1
25. Goto Moe +3
26. Heo Yunjin -15
27. Na Goeun +2
28. Wang Yiren -14
29. Lee Sian -10
30. Kim Sihyun -6

I always thought Miu might do better with 2 and 1 pick rankings because she's gone kinda viral and the guys (obviously) like her a lot. But yeah, it's more and more about fanbases now. It's just a few days worth of votes and 1-pick could change this whole thing again. I like or really like about 20 of the girls and I'm cool with the rest so any outcome is at least "fine" I suppose.

For the eliminations though, I got all the predictions right... except for Miyu, of course. My team comments (mostly) ignore these midweek votes.

Roster Updates after ep 8

1
=
Choi Yena (Yuehua, 1999, age 18) #16

My prediction was correct, as she slipped out of top 12. Hopefully she gets more moments and hopefully knetz will stop only voting for visuals.
2
+2
Miu Shitao (AKB48, 2001, age 17) #22

Safe as predicted, although I expected her to be even higher. Things are looking up, tho... I really hope Miu goes all the way, she's really thriving in a kpop environment.
3
-1
Ahn Yujin (Starship, 2003, age 14-15) #4

Top five as I predicted, pretty good for the precious few moments she had. Still potentially the overall best "idol" of the bunch, just needs to learn how to play the game.
4
-1
Heo Yunjin (Pledis, 2001, age 16-17) #11

Top 12 as predicted. Mnet's greed edit might come back to haunt her, though.
5
=
Nako Yabuki (HKT48, 2001, age 17) #2

Nako is doing as well as expected.
6
=
Park Haeyoon (FNC, 1996, age 21-22) #18

Well deserved 25 spot leap for angel leader and main vocal Haeyoon. Since the beginning I thought I saw something special in this girl, I'm happy I was right.
7
+1
Han Chowon (Cube, 2002, age 15) #9

The darkest of horses. From #88 to #9 is one hell of a feat.
8
+1
Miyu Takeuchi (AKB48, 1996, age 22) #30

No words for this rank. To be honest, Miyu has yet to blow me away on this show but being buried with no screentime and "alleged" #30 spot just reeks of mnet rigging.
9
+1
Miru Shiroma (NMB48, 1997, age 20) #13

Miru the Chair.
10
Hitomi Honda (AKB48, 2001, age 16) #12

She's consistently cute and a great dancer. Her voice is very chipmunk, but then again, so are her cheeks.
11
=
Lee Chaeyeon (WM, 2000, age 17) #17

Predictable fall from top 12, she just didn't have many moments.
12
=
Jang Wonyoung (Starship, 2004, age 13-14) #1

Jang Wonyoung being #1 was predictable but still, kinda silly. Her sympathy edit should help even more, I mean, worked for me. Also, can she even attend a late live finale, being so young? Stay tuned...

Watchlist

Kim Chaewon - Princess of Woollim, on the rise.
Kwon Eunbi - Dance Mama Irene Clone. Steady top 5 spot (at least before 2 and 1 picks)
Jo Yuri - Top 12 spot in the eliminations, good going for vocal powerhouse Yuri.
Kim Nayoung - Waow she made it, I never expected her to make it this far. She's a fluffy ball of feelgood, here's hoping she makes it to the final.

Produce 48 Ep09 random thoughts:

- The stuff they said about Lee Chaeyeon was really accurate. She can sing and dance well, but I don't find her that interesting otherwise. She needs to find her own charm.
- I'm surprised Wang Yiren did so poorly. From what I remember she always moved gracefully, but this episode she seemed like a wooden stick. Nerves, I guess.
- Kwon Eunbi is so tiny. I had no idea.

- There was a glimps of Kim Chaewon rapping, which was just mad cute. At 58:07.
- Na Gaeun doesn't seem to know the difference between singing and screaming. I massively disliked her performance.
- Jo Yuri just pwns as soon as she opens her mouth. Every single time.

- Lee Seung-gi x Lee Hong-gi random banter was hilarious.
- Kim Minju was good this episode. Very likable.
- Choi Yena nailed that rap part Eunbi was practicing, haha.
- Miyazaki Miho looks so old nowadays. With all due respect. Lol
- First time noticing Kim Sihyun.

Ep10 already!

Team 1000%
- On the whole a rather forgettable performance.
- The only one who caught my eye was Kim Minju.

Team I Wish:
- This was interesting, because it has three op my top favorites and one of my most disliked trainees.
- Jo Yuri didn't really stand out in terms of visuals, but she more than made up for it with her voice.
- Kim Chaewon is absoloutely perfect for this. Such a princess. I wish her rap part were longer tho, haha.

Team I Am:
- I feel the producers really dropped the ball on this one. The song didn't feel cute at all, and considering the other songs this episode, a more sexy approach would've been better.
- Ahn Yujin and Choi Rena both did really well showing their own charms.
- The way the performance was edited made it feels Huh Yunjin was center.

Interlude: Chiba Erii pumped up the jam again!! XD

Team Rollin' Rollin'
- Jang Won Young always makes me smile when she's on stage. I think that's what makes her a great idol. To be this good at her age, she's a legend in the making.
- Fun song, fun performance. Good stuff.

Team Rumor
- This song isn't really my preferred style so that doesn't help.
- The stockings make their outfits overly slutty. I don't like it.
- This goes for more of the performances this ep, but the audio felt really off.

Team Let's Meet Again
- This song is really generic, haha.
- Wang Yiren did alright.
- I felt Kang Hyewon was on autopilot, or rather, it was like she was focusing on her part and forgot about the rest of the performance before it.

As far as the team ranking goes, I feel it was pretty spot on this time!

As far as my Top 12 picks, it's more or less the same.  :nervous

It's almost over, damn. Now with 2-pick becoming 1-pick, the final line-up is really hard to predict again, all bets are off (only Sakura I'm 100% sure of, and a few I'm pretty sure of), but here's my final team AND some thoughts on the rest of the top 20 as well:

Final team roster

1
=
Choi Yena (Yuehua, 1999, age 18) #16

Yena continues to be the best. Fingers crossed, she's fun and unique, so could feasibly make top 12.
2
=
Miu Shitao (AKB48, 2001, age 17) #10

Beautiful countryside girl had little screentime, few moments, but could have a firm hold on a good portion of the male viewers to get her through.
3
=
Ahn Yujin (Starship, 2003, age 14-15) #14

The full package. In danger because of not completely adhering to the good little idol ideals, but might have the fanbase to put her through in 1-pick.
4
+1
Nako Yabuki (HKT48, 2001, age 17) #9

Nako is smol and ALWAYS stands out even if she's not doing anything, so 1-pick should put her through.
5
+6
Lee Chaeyeon (WM, 2000, age 17) #3

Chaeyeon has a nice fanbase and her screentime has been nothing but positive, so she should make the top 12.
6
+1
Han Chowon (Cube, 2002, age 15) #13

Dark horse Chowon got some nice moments with her non-existent vocal lines and is a serious candidate for the final group.
7
-1
Park Haeyoon (FNC, 1996, age 21-22) #20

Angel leader is in real danger here, she has to battle with Yuri for the main vocal vote scraps, I doubt she'll make it.
8
+2
Hitomi Honda (AKB48, 2001, age 16) #11

Chubby Bunny could absolutely make it, although it wouldn't surprise me if she was like #13.
9
=
Miru Shiroma (NMB48, 1997, age 20) #8

Always a live audience favorite, Miru making it to the final group is feasible, but also might be unlikely. It's kinda hard to tell.
10
-2
Miyu Takeuchi (AKB48, 1996, age 22) #6

Miyu has been interesting but she never really wowed me with anything. In jeopardy again because of the kinda negative screentime she got struggling with the absurd high notes.
11
+1
Jang Wonyoung (Starship, 2004, age 13-14) #7

Wonyoung is such an idol even as a baby that I'd be surprised if she didn't make it.
12
Kwon Eunbi (Woollim, 1995, age 22) #12

Dance dynamo Eunbi gets the spot Giraffe vacated (fuck you knetz, btw). Always steady position within the top 12, surprisingly might now be in danger of not making it.

13-20

13
Jo Yuri (Stone Music, 2001, age 16) #18

Will probably fight with Haeyoon for the vocal voters... she needs to do something magical in the final to make it to the top 12.
14
Sakura Miyawaki (HKT48, 1998, age 20) #1

The queen of looking good and being mediocre at everything else. Will absolutely make it, could feasibly win center just with her fanbase alone.
15
Kim Chaewon (Woollim, 2000, age 17-18) #19

Princess of Woollim. Has been slipping again, probably won't make it, her moments have been few and far between.
16
Juri Takahashi (AKB48, 1997, age 20) #17

Never really that bad or that good at anything, Juri has been flying under the radar... but at this point... I doubt she'll make it.
17
Lee Kaeun (Pledis, 1994, age 24) #5

Kaeun is... likeable. And will probably make the final group.
18
Kang Hyewon (8D, 1999, age 19) #4

She's great at looking bewildered and nothing else. Might make it with storyline power.
19
Kim Minju (Urban Works, 2001, age 16-17) #15

Looks great and that's about it. Might make it on that alone.
20
Miho Miyazaki (AKB48, 1993, age 25) #2

She's a foreigner who's great at Korean, loves Korea and is not the worst singer. And that might just be enough.

--

Good luck to everyone, their teams and their favorites. Remember it's not the end for the "losers"... for example during season 1, Jeon Soyeon didn't make the final team but went on to appear on Unpretty Rapstar and is currently leading Kpop's most popular rookie group (G)I-DLE.

Can't wait.

 :panic: SPOILERS  :panic:

FINAL TOP 12

01 - 338,366 - Jang Wonyoung (Starship) +6
02 - 316,105 - Sakura Miyawaki (HKT48) -1
03 - 294,734 - Jo Yuri (Stone Music) +15
04 - 285,385 - Choi Yena (Yuehua) +12
05 - 280,487 - Ahn Yujin (Starship) +9
06 - 261,788 - Nako Yabuki (HKT48) +3
07 - 250,212 - Kwon Eunbi (Woollim) +5
08 - 248,432 - Kang Hyewon (8D) -4
09 - 240,418 - Hitomi Honda (AKB48) +2
10 - 238,192 - Kim Chaewon (Woollim) +9
11 - 227,061 - Kim Minju (Urban Works) +4
12 - 221,273 - Lee Chaeyeon (WM) -9

Final group name: IZONE

What an absolutely crazy finale. When Yena got #4 I thought I heard wrong, the top 12 was so crazy. 1-pick changed EVERYTHING. And YURI at #3? wow. Only the top 2 was predictable.

I'm pretty happy with the top 12, only sad about Miu not making it. From my team, I got 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, 12 into the final group, so 4 of top 5 and stuff like that. Pretty content.

And the final group is really solid and well-rounded! It has great vocals, dancers, variety peeps, visuals. Only three Japanese girls which is a tiny bit surprising but yeah.

I feel like Miu really got shafted screentime-wise so she was fighting an uphill battle. And all the Korean males must have been doing something else today...

Finale performances (sans the ballad)

--

Interesting thing I realized after the finale regarding Jo Yuri and Choi Yena placing so high...

In the previous eliminations, both Stone Music and Yuehua lost 2 candidates with a total of ~200,000 (2-pick) votes. That has to have helped both Yuri and Yena a lot, even if I think they still would've made it. No other candidate really had a similar situation (well, maybe Kaeun to small extent with Giraffe going home with less than 100k votes, but I suspect everyone was pairing them to begin with).

Also, since only 2 Japanese girls went home in the previous elimination, it got even harder for the remaining 8, as it's very likely that many voters picked similar girls or girls from the same company for their 2-picks and now suddenly only had one vote to cast. That probably explains (to an extent) why only 3 Japanese girls made it to the final group.

--

Let's look at the top 12:

Jang Wonyoung - all-around decent, good dancer, great visual
Sakura Miyawaki - visuals, stage presence, decent enough performer
Jo Yuri - main vocal, main vocal, main vocal, yuri's pretty great
Choi Yena - where to begin? Hilarious and stellar all-around performer. Fun and unique.
Ahn Yujin - all-rounder, good or great at pretty much everything, dorky, actual model
Nako Yabuki - smol, cute, competent performer
Kwon Eunbi - leader, great dancer
Kang Hyewon - probably good for some humorous (intentional or not) moments, hope she can keep up with the rest and make an actual effort
Hitomi Honda - super cute, cheeks full of love, great dancer
Kim Chaewon - princess, competent performer
Kim Minju - visual power, not completely hopeless otherwise
Lee Chaeyeon - amazing dancer, good vocalist, dorky personality

All-in-all pretty much covers everything, only a (serious) rapper is missing (no, Hyewon doesn't count lmao) but it seems Yena & Eunbi can at least make an effort at it, if not, no big loss really. Rappers in idol groups are not that necessary really.

So I'm pretty happy! I'd make some changes but I've learned it's really difficult to get everything exactly how you like it haha. Anyway, bring on some releases. :yep:

Now a bit about the peeps who didn't make it:

Han Chowon - I wanted Chowon in (at #6) so I'm a bit sad for her... she's still young though, she'll be back for sure.
Lee Kaeun - I don't think anyone disliked Kaeun, but I also don't think she was the #1 favorite of that many people either. She was kind, caring, capable... and somewhat invisible.
Miho Miyazaki - Well, hope she got something out of the experience, she's into Korean things but I never thought she'd fit in this group or offer that much to it.
Juri Takahashi - As I expected, she didn't quite make it. I think she would have been fine in this group, however.
Miyu Takeuchi - Miyu was always a wildcard, too different... which kinda drew me to her in the first place. She never truly shined on the show either, not that mnet gave her that many chances to do so.
Miu Shitao - This one hurts, of course, being my #2 pick. Mnet shafted her screentime-wise pretty hard, almost all of her success was viral and outside the actual episodes. Hope she can do some modeling and maybe get some kinda dance-unit in Japan or something.
Park Haeyoon - Well, she was no match for Yuri, who even got all those Stone Music votes and really made a gap. Haeyoon should be fine though, I can see her singing ballads on OST's and anything of the like, the show was a great showcase for her talents.
Miru Shiroma - Live audience favorite, but quite invisible on the show. Not quite sure how much she wanted to be there either, sad we won't be getting Miru+Wonyoung interactions.

Yup, ain't the end of the road, I hope at least. Good luck to them all.  :thumbup

The Chinese version of this show ended up with Rocket Girls 101, so with that in mind I feel IZ*ONE is a great name.
