Her latest film, "Like Someone in Love" / ライク・サムワン・イン・ラブ, directed by Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami, was entered into the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Still to be released in Japan, here is another clip from "Like Someone in Love"

The film was origally to be called "The End", and Aoi Miyazaki was cast in the lead, but later was replaced by Rin Takanashi.

"Like Someone in Love" — the title comes from an Ella Fitzgerald song — involves a listless young student who moonlights as a call girl, her mechanic boyfriend and an elderly professor who becomes involved in her life. It unfolds in the bustle and neon of Tokyo, but retains Kiarostami's usual languid pace and naturalistic performances.

"We didn't receive a script. That's the first time that's happened," said Tadashi Okuno, who plays the professor. Rin Takanashi is the student and Ryo Kase — who appeared in Gus Van Sant's "Restless" and Clint Eastwood's "Letters From Iwo Jima" — plays her working-class boyfriend.

Rin was in this film from Nomadic Cinema- as part of TIFF.....do not know much about it, but may have been an 'experimental' film from students at Keio University. Film is called アカリのさんぽ / Akari no Sanpo (Walk of Akari). By the way the young girl is played by 椎名るか (Ruka Shiina):

Rin san in a pretty dramatic Winter series on Fuji Television:

カラマーゾフの兄弟 / Karamazofu no Kyoudai (The Brothers Karamazov) Based on the novel
by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The drama runs on Saturdays, started on January 12, and concludes on March 23.

The show stars Hayato Ichihara, Takumi Saito, and Kento Hayashi, with Rin next in the credits. Good job!!

Takanashi Rin to play a ‘yankee’ dance teacher in new drama

On February 24th, it was announced that actress Takanashi Rin is going to star in an upcoming TBS late-night drama titled ‘Houkago Groove‘.

Takanashi is known for her good looks and her vibrant on screen performances. She already gained global recognition as the heroine in Abbas Kiarostami’s Japanese-language film ‘Like Someone in Love‘ which screened at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. It’s her first time to star in a TV drama.

‘Arakawa Under the Bridge‘ director Iizuka Ken is set to direct the drama which was born from the fact that since April 2012, “dance” has become a part of the junior high school curriculum in Japan.

Takanashi is playing a physical education teacher with no dancing skills. Moreover, she used to be a delinquent (‘yankee’) during her student days and left school during senior high school, but thanks to her persistence and fighting spirit she somehow managed to become a teacher. She believes that you should always see something through once you got a taste of it.

Takanashi commented about her role, “When I heard about the story, I immediately wanted to get this role. A sports-minded former delinquent is a fresh character and a nice challenge. I’m already all excited about this.”

Director Iizuka is bound to give this drama a peculiar charm similar to his previous works and Takanashi is looking forward to work with him. She said, “I’ll work hard so that the viewers can enjoy all those surreal interactions between the characters.”

TBS is going to air ‘Houkago Groove’ every Monday shortly after midnight starting on April 22nd.

Rin san starred in an episode of the long running 'True Ghost Story' series on Fuji Television.

「ほん怖」'Honkawa' is the title of the series.
 Honto ni atta kowai hanashi (“scary stories that totally actually happened”) – or Honkowa for short (per a story in 'Rocket News')

Rin's segment was『黒い日常』Kuroi Nichijou / (Black Day)

It was difficult for me to follow, but watched it again, and became clearer....
Apparently Rin's character is already messing up at her new job, and then a delivery errand to another
company that should only take 10 minutes goes all trippy in the fact that it takes her five hours, and
THAR BE GHOSTS!!!!
