Anyone got Wood for Sheep? - The Board Game Thread
« on: March 24, 2008, 04:53:10 AM »
I've been wasting too much time lately playing Settlers of Catan, Caylus, Puerto Rico, Carcassone and other 'euro' board games. Anyone else share this hobby? Favorite games? Strategies? Discuss them here.

Lately my game of choice has been Race for the Galaxy. It's a Puerto Rico-like card game with role selection and a number of different victory strategies. I've also been digging Railroad Tycoon for it's gorgeous map and the opportunity to move cubes around.

My friends have been into Here I Stand as of late. It's a Protestant Reformation board game. I've only played it once myself. It's pretty fun, but it's so very long.

Detailed description here!

Actually, board game geek is an excellent website if you share the board gaming hobby. :D

Good move.

I'll be playing Railroad Tycoon this Saturday. It's a good railway game, but it has next to nothing to do with the computer game aside from the box art.

Me and my friends play a lot of board games: Settlers of Catan, Carcasonne, Risk, Monopoly, Machiavelli, Who is the ass, Stratego etc etc.

I prefer videogames though  :)

Monopoly for sure.
Just buying the property in that game is so fun.  I really get lost in the game XD.  I was at my neighbors house once we we played that game for hours, going past 1am.

Key to the kingdom! Totally the best board game out there and you knows it! Double sided board and everything! I spent many (about 5 lol) an afternoon and evening playing that with my big bro and sis, it was so much fun!!!

Also...the garfield party game...where you get a plate each, and a food stuff, and have to collect as many of that as you can...ie. if you're food is lasagne, you have to try and get rid of all the crap food and take all the lasagne...its actually harder than it sounds XD

Not quite 'board' games, but I'm getting my bro a copy of Citadels and Wizard for his birthday next week.

Both are card games. Wizard is a pretty simple trick taking game, Citadels is a bit more complex (but still easy). Players build cities with district cards while selecting secret hidden roles each round.

citadel is a good choice

as of date, i have on hand

1) citadel

2) bang

3) munchkins - original

4) saboteur

all are card based games mainly, but they are fun to play with.

Those are all great games. I like the original Munchkin, but I'm not a fan of all the re-themes of it.

I picked Descent: Journeys in the Dark a couple days ago. I'm still wrapping my head around that monster.
