Gakky’s pajama danceToday actress Aragaki "Gakky" Yui (21) presented the new commercial for the morning blend drink "Asahi 16cha".Gakky started working as the image character for the drink last year and the newest commercial features the cute actress dancing around in a pajama to Matsumoto Iyo’s song "Sentimental Journey." She does a nice job of parodying the song and the choreography of the song. The stage for the PR-Event was prepped with a bed and Gakky sitting on top of it with 16cha and wearing a striped pajama. "For Yui, it’s 16cha in the morning~," the slogan of the commercial. An interesting fact is that Gakky wasn’t even born ye when the theme song for the commercial became a huge hit in Japan. "I heard it in other commercial sometimes, so I didn’t completely feel out of place," she said with a smile. Matsumoto himself sent a video message and praised Gakky’s performance, "Her singing and dancing are perfect!"The new commercial will be on air starting today.
Gakky & Ikuta returning a favor to local fishermen Actress Aragaki ~Gakky~ Yui (21) and actor Ikuta Toma (25) finished all their domestic scenes for the upcoming movie "Hanamizuki".They had their last scenes in Kushiro, Hokkaido and had to film at temperatures 3 degrees below freezing. However, their effort resulted in beautiful scenes like them walking hand in hand together along the white scenery in the evening. "It was very cold, but we had a really warm atmosphere at the set and every day was a lot of fun," Ikuta looked back the filming. "I'm glad we were able to finish the filming with such beautiful and sparkling snow," Gakky said with a smile. The movie is based on a song by Hitoto You (33) that tells the story of a couple that has been in love with each other for more than 10 years. Back in September they started filming in Kushiro and also already filmed a couple of scenes in Tokyo. In return for the support of the local fisherman at the Shiranuka fishing harbor, the cast and staff spent the day after their last scenes giving them rice and other warm meals. Hanamizuki means "returning a favor" in the language of flowers, so it was a nice way to follow the theme of the movie. Gakky handed out miso soups with pacific cod while Ikuta served fried salmon and vegetables, another local favorite. The fishermen and their families were really happy about that surprise during such cold days.Ikuta himself received a few presents as well. The local fishermen gave him a "big catch" flag and Gakky surprised him with a carved bear. Hokkaido is famous for their woodcraft. "Amazing! I only played a role, but it became a life experience seeing how much pride those fisherman have in their work," he said. Ikuta actually has some advanced fishing skills himself, so he can really relate to their work. "I've mastered the fishing of salmon, that should be worth something," he joked around.Aragaki also commented on how it was to work together with Ikuta. "Ikuta-san's various facets reinforced the movie a lot. You always have fun with him at the set and he stays all natural when he gets into his acting. It truly was a wonderful time I've got to spent together with him."Next month they are going to film some scenes in New York and in Canada. "I haven't really worked that much overseas and I'm nervous, but I want to enjoy it as much as possible," Gakky commented with a lot of enthusiasm. Ikuta isn't going to be included in the scenes filmed overseas, but he gave her some encouraging words nonetheless. "I guess the English lines will be very difficult to remember, but you should try your best and take care of your health," he said. Also appearing in the movie are Renbutsu Misako (19), ARATA (35), Kimura Yuuichi (47), Matsushige Yutaka (47), Mukai Osamu (28) and Yakushimaru Hiroko (45)."Hanamizuki" is going to open in Japan on August 21.
Gakky in New YorkActress Aragaki Yui (21) is currently in New York to film for her new movie "Hanamizuki". In March she and costar Ikuta Toma (25) went to Hokkaido and finished all the domestic scenes for the movie. Now Gakky had to fly overseas by herself to film a couple more scenes in North America, but instead of feeling lonely she showed complete devotion. The movie is based on Hitoto You's famous song "Hanamizuki" and filming already started back in September. Hanamizuki tells the story of a couple that has been in love with each other for more than 10 years despite all their discrepancies. It's a love story made by the team that already made movies such as "Koizora" and "Nada Soso". Aragaki plays the protagonist Sae who starts out as an ordinary high school girl and ends up being a successful career woman working overseas. She is going to transform from a young girl to an adult woman. The scenes they are filming in New York right now show Sae, who just graduated from university, working as an editor and pursuing her dreams of become a successful woman overseas. It's an important step in her life as a person and as a woman in order to gain the experience money can't buy. Fortunately she has people around her that support her all the time. Aragaki has never been in New York before and was quite anxious about going overseas, but the atmosphere of Big Apple soon won her over. She already started taking English lessons back when they were still filming in Japan. The pronunciation and all its nuances was the biggest challenge and she had to study it a lot in order to be able to make ordinary conversations without much of a dialect. It sure must have been very difficult for her, but director Doi Nobuhiro praised her English skills. "She did great and almost sounded like a native speaker in all the scenes with English lines! Soon it was more just about saying her next lines rather than being like 'now I have to speak English'," he said. Some of the extras that got to appear in the public scenes actually thought that she is a native speaker. How much more of a compliment can one get?Once they've finished all the scenes in New York, they are going to move to Canada for the final scenes. Hanamizuki is planned to be finished filming by the end of June.
