^ Seriously, holy water just kicks ass.
Only played Symphony Of The Night, but it's a testament to the game that it's still so playable and compelling almost 10 years after it's release. Looking forward to Order Of Ecclessia and I'm seriously thinking of getting Dawn Of Sorrow or Portrait Of Ruin.
Playing Ecclessia and went through an awesome moment. I felt the same way. I like this one more than SotN. I haven't played them all either, but this one is my favorite. The glyphs are what does it for me. It's fun to mix 'em up. I need to go back and play SotN again, it's been a few years. I remember really enjoying it, but everyone else seems to love it so much more than me. Some songs I really dig (Minera Prison Island's is my favorite), others I don't even remember when I re-enter a level.
Anyone playing it got their glyphs of choice? I know you should change dependening on certain enemies but are there any in particular that you can't really part with? I tend to use Secare (sword) and Arcus (bow) for short and long range options.I like to use Pneuma in both slots for some Terry Bogard/Geese-type action. Throw one then the other and it makes the wave bigger. Another one is Vol Luminato (Light Orb) and Vol Confodere(Superior Rapier). Orb is nice to use and I just like the rapier and sword. I usually use some combo of a sword or rapier and the lightning, darkness, or light magic. I also like to double up on swords for some good fun. I can attack from afar with the magic if I don't want to be close, but I can throw the magic and then strike with the weapon right away. Sometimes I feel like cuttin' everyone up, so it's just weapons, sometimes I like to throw magic at them so I'll equip only that. Only when I've had a tough time with a boss will I pick the strongest setup. Any other situation is just shits and giggles.
As an aside, I'm hoping others who have made it past the lighthouse can help me with this (looking at you here arun!) Where can I find the Rue for Abram's second quest? Got camomile ok but should I have gotten Rue by now or will it be found later? And where can I find iron ore as well for the recently rescued weapon maker? I have 3 copper ore, but not iron.I'm pretty sure you find [Rue] later. Same with [Iron Ore]. I don't remember the exact order of the places that get opened up, but the only locations I can think of that have what you're looking for probably aren't open yet. I don't think they pop up too much later though.

James Wan Writing & Directing Castlevania for Paul W.S. Andersonhttp://www.firstshowing.net/2009/07/22/james-wan-writing-and-directing-castlevania-for-paul-ws-anderson/ (http://www.firstshowing.net/2009/07/22/james-wan-writing-and-directing-castlevania-for-paul-ws-anderson/)
Some exciting news for fans of this game. James Wan, one of the two masterminds behind Saw and the director of Dead Silence and Death Sentence, will be co-writing and directing Castlevania for producer Paul W.S. Anderson (via Bloody-Disgusting). For a long while, Sylvain White had been attached to direct this, but now its landed in Wan's lap. Yes, we know that Paul W.S. Anderson is involved in this, so it might not be that amazing, but I do expect Wan to do a great job with it, at least. "I'm very fresh on this project, so its early stages and I'm still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it," Wan said.
"I'll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it which Konami is very excited about," he says. In addition to the announcement, Wan gave Bloody-Disgusting a concept teaser poster, which we gave you a tease of above, and talked a bit more about why he loves the games. "The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania, was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility." Castlevania first debuted on the Famicom in 1986 and was later ported to the NES in 1987.
"I'm thrilled by the opportunity to make a highly stylized, fantasy, action film that focuses on the gothic storyline and the cool, anime-like characters. For once, the human hero is as sexy and dangerous as the vampire villain, and his weapon of choice was what attracted me to the project in the first place – The Vampire Killer Whip." Sounds like he at least has a grasp of the game and has an understanding of why it's so damn cool. I actually think Wan is a great, stylistic director, which is why this may be a perfect fit for him. We'll be looking forward to seeing what he comes up with!
A trusted source has told Joystiq that "Harmony of Despair," the title of a recent European trademark, is indeed a Castlevania game. Our source indicates that the game will be a 2D multiplayer Xbox Live Arcade title, featuring six-player co-op and a versus, fighter-style survival mode.
These details follow a recently-pulled post on never know tech, which purported to showcase screenshots of Harmony of Despair. The site described the game as a "Metroidvania" side-scroller, featuring characters from recent Castlevania games. The characters, however, appeared to be rendered as tiny GBA/DS-esque sprites, and the game camera is apparently capable of being zoomed out to reveal entire levels (presumably in place of a map screen; or to show multiple characters in different rooms).
So it looks like we might be getting the long-awaited 2D "high-definition" Castlevania, after all. Although, "just make the GBA sprites really small on the screen" isn't exactly the technique we were hoping for.
Definitely a lot harder on the standard difficulty than Bayonetta and God of War 3 were for me.
Konami has extended the life of superb action game Castlevania: Lords of Shadow with two new downloadable add-ons set for launch early next year.
They will feature all new areas, monsters, and brand new story lines. Reverie returns players to the Castle as Gabriel to help Laura, the former servant to the vampire Carmilla, in destroying the unruly evil that was previously kept in check by the recently slain Queen, Konami said this afternoon.
The second DLC, Resurrection, continues the story directly after the end of the game. It provides insight into the epilogue seen by players upon completion of the game, and Gabriel's "ultimate destiny". Konami said Resurrection will be "larger in scope" than Reverie because it features a final showdown with a "very notorious enemy". Who could it be?
Reverie will be available in February, while Resurrection will launch sometime in April. No pricing details were mentioned.
