Who doesn't love cartoons? What's your all time favorites? What do you watch now? Etc.
Lotsa rehashed shit nowadays like "The New Scooby Doo" ... but everyone's got their old time favorites and new ones too.
Me. I still watch classics like Flintstones and Looney Toons. I catch the occasional Spongebob - when I still haven't finished catching up with all the episodes of Family Guy, Futurama, and The Simpsons first. It's on at the same time.
-
I'll watch cartoons if they're on. Some of the adult swim stuff is good for a laugh once in a while. But I don't watch it habitually.
I prefer the Disney Afternoon classics. Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, stuff like that. And Jem.
-
I DLed a torrent of all the oldschool Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles episodes back from suprnova last year. It was 10 freakin' gigs. Well worth the 4 days it took.
-
I like family guy.
We don't get much cartoons around here. But I kinda like the powerpuff girls too~
-
Everyone loves cartoons.
When I was liitle, like 3-4 years old, I watched those classic Disney's cartoons a lot, ya know those b/w ones (I find them really creepy now). And I watched Dr. Slump & Arale all the time. That's why I'm so fucked up now coz that cartoon was just wack.
Then when got a bit older; He-Man, Duck Tales, The Smurfs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Flintstones, Super Friends, Carebears, Thundercats (HO!!!), etc.
Now I only watch Dexter's Lab. I never watched Sponge Bob. And I prefer Futurama to The Simpsons.
-
it seems i watch more cartoons in university than i did as a kid...
EVERYONE watches the simpsons, reruns of futurama, family guy, southpark (occasionally), and if you're asian, you watch anime too.
lots of anime.
-
Justice League. Its all about Justice League for me and sometimes Teen Titans.
-
Classic TRANSFORMERS!!! Some friends of mine say I'm lame for it, but they are, after all, more than meets the eye.
-
I'm probably showing my age with this one... but does anyone remember Centurians?
Favorite old-school cartoons:
- Voltron (Lions version only, of course.)
- Robotech / Macross ('nough said!)
- Transformers (The movie was awesome too.)
- G.I. Joe (favorite episode... when Cobra formed the punk band to corrupt the youth, and the Joes countered by forming a hair-metal band. Also the "viiindow viiiiper" one. )
- M.A.S.K. (Motorcycle that turns into a helicopter? Sign me up.)
- Centurians (+gagiillian points if you had the action figures too)
- Thundercats (If you say you didn't think Cheetara was hot... you're lying.)
- Smurfs (Gargamel was the shit!)
New school faves:
- Simpsons
- Family Guy
- The Venture Brothers
- Sealab 2021
- Aqua Teen Hunger Force
- The Critic (had it's moments)
That's about all I can remember at the moment... shit... I wrote more than I thought.
-
I hadn't watched any cartoons for a couple of years, and then I started watching Cartoon Network again about a year ago.
I currently really dig:
Home Movies (probably my fave)
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
Sealab 2021
Futurama
Family Guy
Robot Chicken
Hi Hi Puffy Amiyumi (I'm sure I'm not the target audience, but it's nice to hear their music)
Teen Titans
Justice League
O'Grady
And the ones I could live without:
Oblongs
Super Milk Chan (though it is funny when you watch it with company)
Tom Goes to the Mayor (somehow it's almost funny because it isn't funny)
Harvey Birdman
-
The Simpsons, of course. Futurama when it was still on. I don't stay up late enough on Fridays to see it on TBS, sadly. Too tired on Fridays. I used to watch Yu Yu Hakusho when I had free cable. Family Guy = dumber Simpsons, but it's alright.
"Our own Asian reporter, Tricia Takanawa..." always kills me and that stuffed-nose voice of her's is amusing.
-
Thundercats (HO!!!)
You're right. There are lots of peeps (see delerium above) who watch it...except me!! I never heard of it!
Oddly enough, I don't watch any anime or that dubbed stuff. Maybe GTO. That was about it. My gramps sent me Dr. Slump stickers but that's all I know.
Who watches Inspector Gadget? Fuckin one of my favorites in the morning. Brain and Penny always saving the day and I loved how Dr. Claw's henchmen always got screwed by Gadget's bumbling.
Yeah, Old School Transformers >>>>>> All that Energon, Beast Wars shit. I loved how they always went "Can't move...too weak"
-
You're right. There are lots of peeps (see delerium above) who watch it...except me!! I never heard of it!
If you weren't an admin, I would ban you now.
And as for Japanese stuff. Manga version is always better than anime. Like GTO? They had to tone down the story for anime. Manga usually has better story, better drawing. that's why I don't watch anime all that much.
Hey, what about Captain Planet?
We're the Planeteers. You can be one too! Saving our planet is the thing to do!...
-
I'm a huge fan of animation, and I'll watch Teen Titans, Powerpuff Girls, and Aqua Teen when they're on; but there isn't anything currently running that I'm really into. Some of my favs are:
-Ren & Stimpy
-Batman: The Animated Series
-Simpsons (up to season 10)
-Robotech
-Invader Zim
I watch alot of Animie too, everything from Cowboy Bebop to His and Her Circumstances.
-
Hey, what about Captain Planet?
Fuck, I remember Captain Planet, that blue fag. I totally remember thinking different things about the kids that had the cool powers that made him up - except for that little South American kid that got shafted and got a ring full of "heart." What kind of lame ass power is that shit? I mean, to control earth, fire, wind, or water would be pretty cool, but to get fuckin' "heart?" What a rip. Its like being Aquaman and trying to be a regular hero in the Superfriends. Unless there's some shit happening underwater, he was fucking useless.
-

-
I was raised by cartoons. The new cartoons don't compare to the old ones such as Heman, Thundercats and the original TMNT. I miss being a kid and waking up to saturday morning cartoons.
-
Anyone remember the Smurfs? Considering the fact that Smurfette was the only chick there, you know she had to be a major HO!
*Oh, don't stop!!! Smurf me, SMURF ME HARD!!!" *
-
(http://us.ent4.yimg.com/movies.yahoo.com/images/hv/photo/movie_pix/ifc_films/donnie_darko/jake_gyllenhaal/darkopre.jpg)
"First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village, but the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have reproductive organs under those little white pants. That's what's so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. What's the point of living if you don't have a dick?"
-
The new cartoons don't compare to the old ones such as Heman, Thundercats and the original TMNT..
I have to disagree with you on this one. IMO the new He-Man is pretty superior compared to old school He-Man which is really corny nowadays. I like it how cartoons are more mature nowadays in general (not quite as mature as the comics tho) and the storylines are more interesting too.
That's the whole point you flaming pile of shit!! The new ones are like TOO serious. Sure, they insert the typical one liners but man - LIGHTEN UP! The whole point of He-Man bouncing around in his ridiculous girly hairdo was that it was so fuckin funny. The Transformers - HELL, I just finished watching the movie - was corny as hell. The 80's Rock Anthems. Everytime they get the shit kicked out of them, they always go "Can't move...too weak" and then one time Prime goes "Well fuck, at least you can still talk" And man, who can't love the old TMNT? Like the episode when Bebop or Rocksteady were holding Mikey hostage, and Leo was communicating with them on their whereabouts, said Leo "Yeah yeah, I know where you guys are" and Rocksteady goes "He must've seen this episode already!"
It's all about camp. The cheesy humor just makes the old cartoons better.
-
Now boys, no fighting, or I'll.... um, can't really do much.
I like the old cartoons for the nostalgia, and the memories associated with growing up while watching those very cartoons. Like how we thought certain jokes were funny at the time, and now all we can do is shake our heads and remember what they meant to us when we first saw them. If I were to see something stupidly cheesy for the first time right now, I'd turn that shit off faster than "Fuck the Police" while driving by Tim Horton's parking lot.
Now I also like the new cartoons because of the better animation, random pop culture references (like Disney does now), and edgier storylines. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but we all should agree on this: Captain Planet is a big blue fag. :D
-
Does anyone remember Dr Katz?
Yes. (http://rapidshare.de/files/935031/Dr_Katz_-_Dave_Chapelle_-_Aquaman.mpg.html)
-
Anyone remember the Smurfs? Considering the fact that Smurfette was the only chick there, you know she had to be a major HO!
Dude, but they're all gay!
-
Does anyone remember Dr Katz?
I saw Dr. Katz a few months ago and the two paitents in that episode were Ray Romano and Dave Chapelle. I thought it was cool that two of today's biggest TV stars were on the same Dr. Katz episode.
-
Old-school TMNT kicks the SHIT outta the new one!!! I mean, in the new one, the turtles never eat any new, fucked-up pizza topping combos (at least I haven't seen them do that during the few times I've watched it). Sure it's nice that there's a little more action, but in the old-school eps there was sleuthing, puzzle-solving, and HUMOUR!!! I mean, the whole "dinosaurs from space" thing the new one does was dumb, IMO. Sure the old-school eps had dumb shit too (remember 100-ft Irma? ), but at least there, IT WAS FUNNY!!!
daigong's right, too much seriousness isn't good for a show, especially if it's a cartoon. Cartoons are aimed to ENTERTAIN little kids, not JUST show fight after fight after fight.
I have to admit though, I DID like the new-school ep they showed this past Saturday, where Donatello is transported to the future, and the other turtles are old and not what they used to be, but they still have the ability to bring it to the table and beat the Shredder!!! Lots of drama and action, which is good, once in a while. But not ALL THE TIME.
SPOILERS - IF ANYONE DOESN'T WANT TO KNOW DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING:
Leo STILL kicks ass even when he's blind; and Michaelangelo with the one arm? Fuckin' shit. Splinter and Casey Jones dead? That sucks.
-
YEAHH...that's the way shit should go. Deliver the best smack.
How I can't get tired of The Flinstones, I dunno. Like the one where Fred is called to head the jury and the con theatens to kill him if he's convicted.
"I object to the ground that the witness isn't speaking loud enough!!" but poor Fred, no matter how hard he tries - he's forced to go along and convicting the con. "FLINTSTONE! I'LL GET YOU FOR THIS!!"
-
I guess you don't watch anime. Check out Berserk and tell me with a straight face that it's aimed to kids.
Up to this point, this thread was NOT about Anime, but just cartoons in general. Most of the posts here in particular talk about old school NORTH AMERICAN cartoons (notice the references to TMNT, Captain Planet, Smurfs, Centurions, all of which are/were North American made). So your comment about anime, while valid, does not really apply here. Now if you want to start up a new thread for just Anime...*hint hint*, that'd be sweet.
-
It's all about camp. The cheesy humor just makes the old cartoons better.
It's not 1985 anymore. Also, people today, both old and young, would disagree. Comic books always had amazing storylines and sometimes serious undertones. It's about damn time cartoons followed suit.
Example:
JUSTICE LEAGUE >>>>>>>>>>> SUPER FRIENDS.
-
Man, I totally miss 1985. Actually, I miss being as young as I was back in 1985. Just running around in kindergarden without giving two flying fucks - except for when it came to watching oldschool Transformers, amongst other shows.
The cartoons today certainly outshine the old ones in production value, storyline, all that shit - but NOTHING replaces memories and sentimental value. Man, I could go for a screening right now.
-
WTF?
Super Friends >>>>>> Justice League.
Coz they have Wonder Twins.
-
There was an episode of Justice League where a few of them were in some warehouse with mannequins, and two of the mannequins were of the Wonder Twins!!!   They even had their goofy smiles and everything!
-
It's the sister who can change into water, right? What if she changed into a glass of water and somebody accidentally drank her? What would happen?
-
The brother turned into water. The sister turned into animals.
-
Oh really? That's not very manly...
Wonder Twins are so gay anyway. That's why I like them. :D
-
The brother turned into water. The sister turned into animals.
It would've been funny to see him get pissed out of someone.
-

ARRGH!! You know I never watched Super Friends until last nite. It DOES suck. Actually, Justice League Unlimited looks a bit more promising. Minus those new wonder twins Hawk and Dove...Supergirl is mighty hot:
Venutre Brothers debuted like a few weeks ago and I actually caught an episode. AND I LOVE IT!! Fuckin hilarious. And when the guy who does Joe Swanson from Family guy is part of the cast, it can't be too bad??
Watching the episode where Dr. Venture wants to get his mojo back so ends up at the strip club. While Brock loses his Secret Agent license. I loved that Dr. Girlfriend with the deep voice. :thumbsup
LMFAO !!! When Dr. Girlfriend was seducing Dr. Venture, the arch villain watching them was like rubbing himself then ended up :jerk:
-
I remember the Centurions. THey show it on boomerang I think. The one with the guys with the armor that could get spare parts added to it. The plane guy, sub guy and some armor land guy.
I remember these toys/cartoons do you? Visionaries & Inhumanoids
I stick to watch anime more. Plus-
Teen Titans, Xiao Lin Show Down, Mucha Lucha, JLU, Old school Batman Animated series.
I'm too old. :(
-

C'mon superfriends are from 30 yrs ago. When animation standards were VERY different. So it can hardly compare with the animation from today :)
-

Yo...johnbobman, KT, somebody. What's that reality show cartoon that was on teletoon called again? The one about the hugging.
Shit, I totally haven't gone in this thread since like, ever. So yeah, sorry I didn't get to answer, but yeah, its Drawn Together.
Anyway, does Avatar: The Last Airbender show in the US? That's an awesome series! Season 1 is out on DVD in Canada I think, I have to buy it!
-
Drawn Together is pretty damn funny
I've seen a few episodes of Avatar. Not bad for something out of nick, most complex show they've ever shown, and one of the better american anime.
-
I still watch cartoons. I have just bought the first season of Drawn Together. I was kind of hoping for more episodes on there though.
-
I've been hooked on Avatar: The Last Airbender for a long while now
I tend to miss a number of episodes, because it shows on Saturdays here and I'm out of the house most of the day. but, I'm glued to the screen whenever I manage to catch it. it's definitely one of the best American animes done....ever.
I want the DVD! PENGUIN!!
-
Yeah, I'm almost always working on Saturdays too. I was supposed to be working today, but I worked another day I was supposed to have off this week. Anyway, I'll look around for that Avatar dvd, and I'll probably use it to test out ebc's tutorial to ripping VOBs. Korean animators rule!!
-

Lately I've wanting to re-watch Beast Wars (Beasties, in Canada)...I loved that show...the soundtrack is amazing!

last season's was like WTF! but duh. we know what happens to the Bros. :P
-
oh man, i kinda dont even watch tv now that i've stumbled upon irc *feels pathetic*
but i'll turn on the simpsons and the news from time to time, rarely adult swim anymore... from that i'd watch the basics, Family Guy, Futurama, and of course Venture Bros!
but when i was little, i used to looove watching the SWAT KATS, G-Force, Speed Racer, Captain Planet, Exo Squad, Robotech, Volton, Johnny Quest, Godzilla (old school 70s), Angry Beavers, Kablam! Don Coyote y Sancho Panda, Snorks, Pup Named Scooby Doo, Smurfs, Arthur...and alot of other ones to sit here and think of.... and there was this show about 3 guys i think that had these suits that were like transformer type deals, if i can remember correctly, there was an air guy, land guy, and water guy, it was pretty rad, if you can remember please tell me :D...but sadly, i couldn't remember most of the goings on even if i tried -_-
i kinda burnt myself out on cartoons last summer when all i did all day was play Call of Duty and watch The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, and Spongebob.
-
I still watch cartoons. I am pretty much into the old school cartoons like voltron, and transformers. (I have the entire generation 1 and 2 on DVD.) I also like anime, been catching up on Full Metal Alchemist and Naruto since I just recently got addicted to it. Pretty much I will watch any cartoon. I'm still a big kid at heart.
-
wew...
rhyno still wathin it...? r u not bored with pict like that...?
i still wathin cartoon too... lol
-
Ren and Stimpy! I've been watching it all week, it's so freakin' addictive. Untalkative Bunny is hilarious too.
-
I will never stop watching cartoons. Why? Simply because alot of them are of much higher quality than live action TV shows. Furthermore, the animation aspect of it allows for things you simply wouldn't be able to do as seemlessly (with or without CGI). As it stands, The Boondocks is the smartest show on American TV at the moment.
-
My absolute favourite of all times is Biker Mice from Mars. I even had a crush on Throttle when I was about 5 years old. I also watched Alfred J. Kwak, Around the world with Willy Fogg, Candy Candy, Animaniacs and many many more.
When I was a kid I used to watch a lot of cartoons, but nowadays they don't show any good cartoons on TV anymore... Sigh. The nostalgia.
-
Cartoons I watched and liked a long time ago: TMNT and Spiderman
The cartoon that I like now is spongebob squarepants :)
-

I think that show was The Centurions ("Power Extreme!")
In my case I watch any cartoon or anime that is aired on TV. Whether its reruns of Simpsons, Futurama, Lonney Tunes, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Slam Dunk, DBZ, YuYu Hakusho, Yugi-oh, etc. The newer shows that I enjoy watching are Spongebob, Invader Zim, Masters of the Universe, The Batman, Teen Titans and Justice League(Which also rekindled my interest in comics).
I can still recall a lot of cartoon show I used to watch in the past like Thundercats, Tigersharks,Silverhawks,Bionic Six,C.O.P.S.,Toxic Crusaders, Visionaries, Inhumanoids,Denver the last dinosaur and Voltron(btw, someone uploaded the voltron movie in yotube where the vehicle and lion team joined forces against the Gruul/Grule empre and Zarkon.)
-
Mostly watch anime shows nowadays.
-
When there's nothing on tv i turn on nickelodeon for spongebob squarepants and fairly odd parents , they crack me up everytime.
I also watch anime, but only the more adult-oriented and occasionaly some ecchi :D
-
of course! i love anime!
it's inspire my imagination!
although i'm the onlyone who watch it in my family
-
i luv cartoons...
-
The only shows I really watch now are King of the Hill and Simpsons. I watch others like Futurama, Family Guy, X-Men, and some others occaisionally. I used to watch anime a lot, but I just haven't kept up with it for quite some time.
-
The Simpsons used to be my favorite show during the first 8 or 9 seasons but now I only watch it occasionally. South park still Rocks and I watch it whenever I get the chance. I used to watch Dragonball and Outlaw Star almoast everyday when they were first running on cartoon network but I havn't followed anime much since then.
-
I forgot about South Park. I stopped watching it for a long time, but I just found out that one of my local TV stations plays a 3 hour block of it on Sat night, and I usually watch since I'm up then anyway. I really liked The Critic, but I haven't seen it in a long ass time, and I've only seen the DVDs for sale at one store that's really far from my house.
-
I only watch Spongebob Squarepants.
Futurama, Simpsons and Family Guy dont count as cartoons
-
My all times favorite cartoon is Doraemon (Japanese manga) and others Fujiko F. Fujio manga. Now I read Death Note, Akumetsu, Berserk and a lot of manga:D :P
-
Cartoons are really the only thing I find myself watching on TV these days. But it's the entire Adult Swim lineup (Futurama/Family Guy/Aqua Teen/Harvey Birdman/Robot Chicken).. the best block of television there is ^_~
-
I like funny cartoon, but rare to watch them. The most i like is Slamdunk, i think you guys now about this cartoon ^^
-
Sponge Bob Square Pants, I swear... I will honestly stop whatever I'm doing if it comes on my TV. ( I've literally said to a lady friend of mine, "Uhh... yeah, I've gotta go. bye~" when she was talking about interesting things. )
I'm such a sad individual.
-
If SouthPArk is considered as Cartoon, it is my fav!!!
-
I dont watch ols style cartoons anymore. Only anime and moastly in japanese with eng sub. Baad sicronization can make an anime mutch worse, that's why i stay at the original. I watched Goldenboy in Japanese English and GErman subbs, and Japanese was the funnyest.
-
sometimes i watch The fairly oddparent, make me laught xD and Ranma 1/2
aahh! and "the Simpson" ^_^
-
I pretty much still watch cartoons, from anime to 80's cartoons, to The Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park (if this one counts). Whenever there is nothing else is on, I will watch a cartoon that will peak my interest.
-
i still love cartoons! especially the stuff from Genndy Tartakovsky and Craig McCraken. i'm totally hooked on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends! that's one of my favs of all time~
-
Yeah I still watch them! Simpson... Family Guy... Futurama... Man the list goes on and on... I think I have to go watch some cartoons now... Got me thinking about them!
-
WHOA. I watched this recent episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force "The Dickesode" it was hilarious.
If doesn't take a genius to figure out what this episode was about. Just look at the title. No joke, the word "dick" had to have been used over a hundred times in the eleven minutes. Of course, now you're asking yourself what would prompt Carl, Meatwad, Shake, and Frylock to say dick over and over again? Quite simple really. The foursome got lunch at their local Wong Burger (great slogan by the way, "At Wong Burger, when it's right, it's Wong!") and while everyone else got food discounts from their "Rip N' Win" game, Carl received an ominous fortune: you will get your dick ripped off tonight.

* After Frylock performed the sex change on Carl, Shake ate Carl's dick. When he found it? Priceless. (A perfectly good hotdog in the trash! And it's sitting right on top of two soggy walnuts!)
* Anyone else see the TV? After the Wong Burger commercial, Space Ghost came on.
* The end credits were funny too. Everyone's first name was, you guessed it. Dick.
:halo:

Adult swim ftw. Metalocolypse, Harvey Birdman, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama, oldschool SeaLab.. just doesn't get any better.
Also, I've got a Aqua Teen Hunger Force DVD that has a great "Behind the Scenes" of the recording for one of their episodes. If anyone's interested, I'll rip and encoded it. Always interesting to see the faces behind the voices. ;)
-

I get made fun of sometimes for watching cartoons being an adult....what baffles me is the guys who say it all work at like mcdonalds or waffle house.... i guess they are the superior adult and know how i should live my life so i can have a great job and future like they do.
-
yupp...........cartoon can make me release my tension especially cartoon like school rumble.......
-
If it comes to Bug Bunny, Disney cartoon then I don't watch them anymore since I'm too old for that. But when it's Simpsons, South Park, Futurama kind of cartoons I'm in to that.
-
@tempethegreat: Isn't that considered as anime? Or is this thread talking about all sorts of animated stuff?
I don't watch cartoons much anymore, but Spongebob rocks! My mom loves it too :D I went around going "Did you know they're gonna have new episodes of Spongebob!?" the other day too ^^;.
I don't really watch the cartoons on Adult Swim though since I don't have the channel, just mainly YTV (in Canada).
-

-
I feel bad for the new generation of kids that have to watch some of the new cartoons. Well i guess they might like it...but i don't find them as appealing as the older stuff..just my opinion
-
The new kind of cartoons are less nice to watch. But sometimes the broadcast older cartoons which I watched when I was younger, I sometimes tend to watch those. They are fun.

-
I love Futurama, first 8 seasons the Simpsons and Ren & Stimpy. I got all the Futurama DVD Boxes XD

The Simpsons is still of my favourite. It keeps releasing new episodes in the past years.
It is not just funny, it contain many philosophy lessons and morals. You find that out from The Simpsons Philosophy Book.
The author said he will end the serie with a movie. But guess what, the movie will come out this year (finally!) and the new episodes will keep releasing. Can't wait for the movie come out.

-
Wolverine and the x-men have been good. Xmen: Evolution was good. Don't care a lot for the "kids" cartoons, badly drawn and mostly crappy storytelling.
-
Wolverine and the X-men is seriously the best cartoon Nickelodeon's had in a long, long time.
I think it hit some kind of record for them, too... like most watched pilot or something.
-
I still watch cartoons. The only new one I really like is Flapjack. For some reason it cracks me the fuck up.
-
Spongebob ... it make me laugh all the time ...

The cartoon I watch recently only Spongebob and The Simpsons.
Spongebob veru funny, always make me laugh. XD
-
For the classics, I like old Warner Bros cartoons (Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies). As for current cartoons, I get a laugh out of Spongebob Squarepants.
