I'd put Fallout and Fallout 2 right up there with Deus Ex and Planescape: Torment as the greatest role playing games ever made. What do you folks think?

fallout and fallout 2 are definitely awesome games :D i remember playing the first one ages ago, and then recently found a pack with both in, and fallout:tactics. but i didnt really enjoy fallout:tactics too much.

before i played STALKER, reading about it made me think of a FPS version of Fallout :D and in its own way it kind of is. haha.

anyway. i totally agree with you.

Fallout 3 as it could have been (under blackisle):

oh man that looks frakking excellent.
it actually reminds me a little of Fallout Tactics. (anyone play that? it was a little different, but certainly had the fallout feel to it)

i hope bethesda doesn't screw it up majorly.

Fallouts are definitely on my games' all-time favorite list. And the only RPGs that I replay time to time.

I hope the third one doesn't suck too much... I want to think that waiting all these years bouncing the project from team to team is actually a good sign. They could have always publish some cheap shit with a trust that the name Fallout will sell enough.

The one thing I like most in the series is the 50's-post-apocalyptic world. Makes me always think how cool movie it would be. The ending of the Island is just like a scene where people would leave a vault :)

Yea, I played Tactics a bit. I actually enjoyed it, even though many of the hardcore fallout fans hated it since it wasn't much of an RPG. I ruined it for myself with extensive use of cheats though hehe. Got to Springfield and just couldn't advance without dying, so I stopped playing.

Bethesda Softworks Announces Award-Winning Actor Liam Neeson to Play Lead Role in Fallout 3

Imo voice acting in a computer game hardly makes it any better. I mean, any actor can do it for a computer game, you don't need a hollywood star for that. But I like Liam Neeson and Liam Neeson + Fallout can't fail.

It's also a sign that Bethesda is really doing something. But I hope it's not a sign of the actual game being that crappy that they need big names for voice acting to sell the game...

It looks they have a countdown for a trailer now! 11 days to go!

The pic looks good. But I was hoping more that cartoon-style. And this image doesn't actually have anything cool. But I hope they're saving stuff for the trailer.

...and a forum has opened. People are talking about 1st-person-view... I hope that's not the case with Fallout3

The teaser's out today.

http://www.fo3.net/

And the site is getting sodomized by all the fans wanting to watch it.

Edit: Maybe it's not actually out today after all.

Edit again: I just watched it. It doesn't reveal much, but Ron Perlman does say his famous line.

Fall 2008 ?!  :O

I seriously thought that thet would release it for christmas or something. Well I don't know if I had missed the date earlier, but all this fuss about game that is released not until year later. Well, at least this is some kind of proof that they're actually making it. Although knowing the problems with this project it wouldn't be surprising if they would get it half-ready, then cancel it and then sell the rights to another company, which would just keep them safe couple of years and then release a teaser... Yep, a year is more than enough for that.

So this is a disappoinment. I was really hoping to see some gameplay and stuff, because as I said, I thought the game would have been released earlier and they would have actually had something done.

But the teaser was good as a teaser. It was definitely Fallout-style, nice music, the coolest looking armor of the series and Ron Perlman's line.

New Fallout 3 gameplay footage from E3.

I hope this is not from a real game, just something made for the E3. This completely lacks the feeling and the mood of the previous Fallout games. Th other thing is that it's just looks too easy. I don't remember my fights in Fallouts being jump and shoot ripped from Doom. More like using stimpaks every other turn and praying that my mates wouldn't accidentally kill me. The VATS system looks pretty good though.

It sure is difficult when everything you read  or see of a game you already have decided to buy is somehow disappointing  :(

It might make an ok shootan game, but it won't make an ok Fallout game. VATS looks to be cool, but I was hoping for combat more in line with the original games. I'd really like to see some gameplay videos from a town or two, to give an idea of what that business is like.

Oh Black Isle, why did you have to die?

Well it looks pretty good. But that's only if you don't go into comparing old Fallout with this. For now, I consider this game a "fallout-like" or "in the fallout world" but it has almost nothing to do with the atmosphere of the previous games from the series.
Hopefully when they release it - it will be something worth playing.
