Been playing Okami for the last couple weeks, and damn is it good. Yes, there are some occasional control issues with brush stroke recognition and the timing of the motion-controls, but I've never been really frustrated with them. Aside from that, the only minor niggle I had was that the opening exposition cinematics take a good while before you're actually running around and fighting. I guess this is why this version has a "skip movie" button, which I heard was missing in the original.
The real treat to me has been all the freedom you're given to move around, and the colorful little details sprinkled throughout the game world. Seeing all the amazing character designs and art style combined with some stylish twists on familiar Japanese mythology and folk tales is a real treat.
Yes, there are some real similarities to the Zelda games, and the designers have said they were inspired and influenced by them. But I'd say that Okami is less puzzle-oriented than the Zelda games, and more exploration-oriented.
Btw, there's a somewhat apologetic
promotion from Capcom to have them send you one of three new box art inserts to replace the IGN watermarked one the game shipped with. I haven't decided which one I want yet.
