Holy.... :o :o :o

Ok so, here's the deal. Still on my first playthrough on Ecclessia, currently at Dracula's Castle, just chilling and trying to get as many items/glyphs as possible just for my own satisfaction. So was working my way through it when I left through another exit and opened up 2 new areas, the Training Hall and the Large Cave. Wonder if any of you guys have gotten past any of these areas? The Training Hall is a test of your platforming reflexes and you get some epic loot if you get past all the stages. But the Cave is all about combat. First room I enter, and I'm ambushed by about 7 Tin Men and 2 Cave Trolls all at once. Somehow I get past them, but then the next stage deals with 2 demons I'd never encountered before and take 150HP just by touching you, 300 if their attacks hit you  :shocked

Anyone got any suggestions on good glyph combos for this? I tend to opt for Melio Macir/Melio Confodere and Nitesco but am open to any suggestions, I desperately need them! XD Great game though, just as addicting as SOTN. Seems like the story takes a back burner in the 2nd half though. Ever since I entered Dracula's Castle the narrative hasn't been pushed along. Shame, cause they could have made the main antagonist a bit more menacing.

I was wondering how you were coming along with this. I beat both. The Large Cave is long. I don't remember if I used all of them, but I maxed my inventory of all health potions and items. I also used the regeneration Glyph after each room. I forget the name, but there's an item that makes recovery items stronger. I made sure to use that with each replenish. I normally wore armor and rings that made my attack and defense strong, but swapped in the ring when I needed it.

I think my whole way through (Or the majority) I used the Luminous Orb that follows the enemy. This is really strong against a lot of them. For the other glyph (When you press R), I used the one that makes magic attacks stronger. It made me get through the robots with little damage. The combine attack is good too.

I think with the robots I would just start firing orbs as soon as I landed. They would all be in their second state before they could get to me. Then keep firing orbs while crouching under their bullets. The Cave Trolls aren't too bad with the orbs tracking them. I just kept some distance.

The demons in the next room actually aren't hard. When you get to the first one, make sure you don't go too far into the room to summon the second one. When the demon swoops down, just double jump over him. When he does his magic attack, just absorb it.

That Cave is tough. I forget what level I was at when I finally beat it, but I was there for a long time.

Good luck! :D

Tuffty's post made me want to go back through the Large Cavern again so I could try to get some items some of the enemies drop. I got too cocky this time though. The first two times I did it I had the most difficulty in the middle, but the end was easy. I got caught sleepin' and got my ass whooped in the end. Sonofabitch!

I've been trying to get any other pick up items I haven't gotten yet. That means spending lots of time in one area killing the same enemy over and over again. I have gotten some good ones though, even completing some of the villager quests. I missed Albus's glyph. I got it in Boss Rush mode, but I didn't know about absorbing it when I fought him the first time.

James Wan Writing & Directing Castlevania for Paul W.S. Anderson

Some exciting news for fans of this game. James Wan, one of the two masterminds behind Saw and the director of Dead Silence and Death Sentence, will be co-writing and directing Castlevania for producer Paul W.S. Anderson (via Bloody-Disgusting). For a long while, Sylvain White had been attached to direct this, but now its landed in Wan's lap. Yes, we know that Paul W.S. Anderson is involved in this, so it might not be that amazing, but I do expect Wan to do a great job with it, at least. "I'm very fresh on this project, so its early stages and I'm still trying to work things out, but the producers love my vision for it," Wan said.

"I'll be working on the script with a writer to give it a new spin, different to the previous versions. This will have my stamp on it which Konami is very excited about," he says. In addition to the announcement, Wan gave Bloody-Disgusting a concept teaser poster, which we gave you a tease of above, and talked a bit more about why he loves the games. "The thing I love about what Konami did with Castlevania, was taking the iconic Dracula mythology and Eastern-European setting, and retelling it with a Japanese pop-cultural sensibility." Castlevania first debuted on the Famicom in 1986 and was later ported to the NES in 1987.

"I'm thrilled by the opportunity to make a highly stylized, fantasy, action film that focuses on the gothic storyline and the cool, anime-like characters. For once, the human hero is as sexy and dangerous as the vampire villain, and his weapon of choice was what attracted me to the project in the first place – The Vampire Killer Whip." Sounds like he at least has a grasp of the game and has an understanding of why it's so damn cool. I actually think Wan is a great, stylistic director, which is why this may be a perfect fit for him. We'll be looking forward to seeing what he comes up with!

As always, I'll try to remain optimistic about a game-to-movie adaptation but when a director works on a new script that only has vague ties to the game in someway, it usually results in a bad movie.

ARGH! I'm stuck on a boss fight against Eligor. If you can remember, Eligor is the giant centaur with red jewels on his knees and with weapons like a giant sword, a spear for a tail and bows on his body. I can knock the front jewels off no problem, for me it's the next stage of his attack, when you need to go inbetween his legs. You're given such a small space to work with, and it's moving back and forth which makes it very easy to lose a bit of HP. And those bows try to line up on you and take a shot as well! The only way I know to push those bows back is by using 2 Melio Arcus glyphs and try to alternate as much as I can between each one, but trying to do that, while navigating space, while waiting for the opportunity to go to his back legs is quite difficult! As well as that, do I have to take out the bows as well as the jewels on his knees before I can attack his eye? Whenever I get as far as climbing on his back and get within distance of his eye, I get damage somehow and comes pretty near to killing me if not killing me outright. Must need to attack from a greater distance?

Haven't tried the Large Cavern again, just focusing on getting some rare items/glyphs. After defeating a lot of Spectral Swords, I finally got Melio Secare. Quite effective, though at the moment, nothing beats my Melio Macir/Acerbatus combo.

An extended trailer of Castlevania : Lords Of Shadow including a few more plot points, some in game footage and the mention of a familiar family name.

Eligor was disposed of, finally. And I made my way past Death. So badass that you have to fight him and yet you would think he would be the final boss. So with all 3 cerberus glyphs, I guess I don't have much further to go before I fight Count Vlad himself? Also can't help but notice that there's an area of the castle that is literally impossible to get to. If it helps, it's near the Library - Bloody Tomes teleport room and there appears to be an area of the map that looks like it leads to a room higher up, but it is impossible to reach. There's no platforms or enemies to bounce off. Is there some hidden switch I'm missing?

Can't remember correctly the game... I guess maybe you haven't got one ability or one glyph missing ?

Don't forget to read GameFaqs (carefully in order to not being spoiled) : http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/ds/game/945837.html

I'm sooo waiting for "Lords of Shadow". I think we'll finally have a good 3D Castle' game. The trailer reminds me in which mood I was while waitin' Rondo of Blood in 1993...  XD

D'oh, if only I had been a bit more patient! Turns out further exploration in the final area will lead you to Volaticus, the glyph that gives you wings. And exploration of the area I had mentioned led to.....a door to the final area. Great.

So now Shanoa can fly! :o Haven't tried this strategy yet, but I wonder if this could be a benefit when tackling the Large Cave dungeon I had mentioned earlier?

I think and I think most of you would agree (or not who knows) that the 2d games are generally better than the 3d ones. But Castlevania 64 is pretty damn good.

As I'm typing this, the end credits are rolling for Order of Ecclesia! :w00t: Man, Dracula is a tough son of a bitch, it took me a while to find the right strategies to avoid his attacks. But it was suitably epic, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. Particularly pleased that I explored 100% of all areas including Dracula's Castle, without any help from walkthroughs. Although there's still items and glyphs that I hadn't got.

I tried the Large Cave once again before Dracula though and realised that the flight glyph comes in real handy, especially in the first room where you're out of reach of the Tin Men. Got as far as the monsters weilding the giant hammers before I died.

OMGASS! Boss Rush mode! Hard mode! Albus mode! There's still some life in it yet! :w00t:

^ Yeaaaaahhhhh booyyeeeeeeeee!

lol I forget how many times I went through the Large Cave before I thought to use the flight glyph. I keep trying to play Hard Mode, but get pissed whevener I die. I don't think I've ever really liked the extra character modes in the previous games, but Albus's game is really fun. I guess it's because his attacks, like the fire hurricane kick. XD

Thought this was pretty interesting. A Castlevania slot machine game, looking more like an arcade game with immediate fanservice (just to be on the safe side, it's probably NSFW):

Castlevania: The Slot Machine

Not that I would ever play a game that's solely dependent upon chance.

A trusted source has told Joystiq that "Harmony of Despair," the title of a recent European trademark, is indeed a Castlevania game. Our source indicates that the game will be a 2D multiplayer Xbox Live Arcade title, featuring six-player co-op and a versus, fighter-style survival mode.

These details follow a recently-pulled post on never know tech, which purported to showcase screenshots of Harmony of Despair. The site described the game as a "Metroidvania" side-scroller, featuring characters from recent Castlevania games. The characters, however, appeared to be rendered as tiny GBA/DS-esque sprites, and the game camera is apparently capable of being zoomed out to reveal entire levels (presumably in place of a map screen; or to show multiple characters in different rooms).

So it looks like we might be getting the long-awaited 2D "high-definition" Castlevania, after all. Although, "just make the GBA sprites really small on the screen" isn't exactly the technique we were hoping for.

2D HD version of Castlevania? Say it ain't so!

Right so this be one of me favorite series. I was attracted to castlevaina by the artwork of the fucking amazing Ayami Kojima. Too bad, I did not play castlevania until after she stopped... (first game I played was aria of sorrow, which was the last game she did that I played I believe)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayami_Kojima
http://castlevania.armster.org/

Then fucking Michiru Yamane... i hear her music... it almost brings me to climax...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michiru_Yamane

(both of these people are ladies by the way, which makes my love for the game grow even more)

Then... its a game similar to metroid... metroid one of the most fucking awesomist games ever... I was enchanted to say the least.

Hi I'm jigenbakuda, and I'm addicted to hand-held castlevania games...

I've played every hand-held castlevania game (advanced + DS), but I did not beat circle of the moon tho... (didn't own it), i beat all the other ones tho.

Oh I could fanboy on castlevaina all day long... I have a custom made castlevania t-shirt... and I'll be pre-ordering the next one whenever that comes out.

Favorite thing in a castlevania game, the piano you walk on in the top of the tower in dawn of sorrow, and the records in ecclesia that changes the bgm... best weapon... undead whip (or whatever the black one with the red aura was, it dealt dark damage...), just cause it looks so bad ass, favorite summon is the spider (ecclesia), favorite form is the succubus (ecclesia), favorite post game new character, alucad from dawn of sorrow, his melty blood shadow thing was too cool!

lol, after writing this it seems my favorite game was dawn of sorrow, I remember the most from that game, plus the characters, bonuses, and etc were the most awesome. ecclesia is next, the forms in ecclisia (cat form and succubus form ftmfw!) were so great, and the story and locals... the old school flat line stages... that was a good one too, lol.
