Fan Bingbing considered for role in "My Way"

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing is being considered for a role in South Korean director Kang Je-gyu's Hollywood debut movie, according to the film's producer on Wednesday.

"Fan Bingbing is one of the many actresses that we are discussing to cast for a role in the war blockbuster "My Way," an official from the production company explained, adding that nothing has been finalized.

"My Way," starring top Korean actor Jang Dong-gun and Japanese star Odagiri Joe, is about an Asian solider who was captured by the Japanese army and later turned over to the German Nazis during World War II.

Fan and several other famous actress including Wei Tang and Zhang Ziyi, if cast, will play the role of the Chinese woman who helps Jang’s character in the movie.

Fan, 28, is also a Mandopop singer who rose to stardom for her role as Jin Suo in the TV sitcom "Princess Pearl" in 1998.

She has also starred in Chinese films "Contract Love" (2007), "Fuse, Flash Point" (2007), "Bodyguards and Assassins" (2009) and "Just Another Pandora's Box" (2010).

Fan Bingbing to Star in Korean War Epic
2010-09-23 13:28:40     CRIENGLISH.com       Web Editor: Duanlei

Chinese actress Fan Bingbing has signed on to play the female lead in the World War II epic "My Way", starring alongside South Korean actor Jang Dong-Gun and Japanese actor Odagiri Joe.

Directed by South Korean director Kang Je-Gyu, the film is expected to emulate the success of Kang's 2004 film "Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War", the 3rd highest grossing film in South Korean box office history.

The film will tell a story of a Korean solider who was recruited by the Japanese army to fight for the Germans during World War II. Fan stars as a Chinese woman who falls in love with the Korean solider after meeting him in China.

The film will be shot in South Korea, China, Russia and France. Filming is slated to begin in October.

Louis Vuitton has invited Chinese actress Fan Bingbing to observe the brand's latest creations during the Paris Fashion Week.

Ms. Fan graced the fashion mecca by showing off her own fashion taste. She appeared at Louis Vuitton's various shows with eye-catching outfits, with style reminiscent of retro or punk fashion, embellished with bright red lips.

During her stay in Paris, Fan also visited the Louvre, and met U2's lead singer Bono.

Fan's international appearances have attracted photographers. She wowed the media back in May when she wore a dragon-emblazoned dress at the opening red carpet show of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival.
