Considering how many songs from H!P's beloved W are actually covers of songs by the Peanuts, or even covers of songs once covered by the Peanuts, I thought I'd share some of their songs with everyone!

Facts about the Peanuts
Real Names: Emi & Yumi Ito (Birthnames: Hideyo & Tsukiko Ito)
Born: April 1, 1941
Emi & Yumi, real-life twins, began performing as the Ito Sisters, until they were discovered in a Nagoya night club in 1958 by Watanabe Pro founder Sho Watanabe. He brought them to Tokyo and named them The Peanuts, and quickly they became the most legendary girl group of the 50's & 60's. They have become cult figures in the US as well, after starring in several Mothra and Godzilla movies.
The sisters' popularity in America grew so much that they performed live on the prestigious Ed Sullivan show and also the Danny Kaye show. They are the first Japanese girl duo to perform on American television. Years later, Pink Lady became the first Japanese entertainment act to host their own America television show in 1980.

The covers W did of them were good, but the originals sound awesome!

My favorites are Koi no Ophelia and Yubiwa no Atoni. The Peanuts are just too good to like only one or two songs though!

The Peanuts are superb, really - there's nothing and no one else like them.
I have about 60 of their songs as mp3s and hope someday to get some of
their CDs.

I downloaded some albums (RAR format) off Rapidsearch a while ago,
but I don't mess with those sites too much anymore. I got most of my
collection off of blogs and various mp3 sites (well worth the hunt if you
have time; just stay AWAY from the russian sites!)

Yeah I love The Peanuts but apart from that astroboy page which has been there for years (you don't have to pay by the way) and 2 or 3 best-of compilations their stuff is pretty hard to find which is a shame as they released a load of albums.

Y'know, I've only just realized that bit about not paying at some of these sites. I think
there were afew times I tried the slow download and it seemed it was taking forever
so I'd pony up between $4 and $6 for a 3-day subscription. Really all it takes is some
patience (and a highspeed connection of course) and voila, 'free!'
But yeah, considering their output its ridiculously hard to find the bulk of their music.
I have found sites & torrents that offer a lot of stuff, but I if it looks shady
I stay away. Let us pray that the twin fairys get a fuller and affordable
release of their music in the future. Dan, have the sisters been photographed recently
to your knowledge???

If you find any sites or torrents that contain their stuff send me a pm with the info and I'll check it out, I'm not afraid to go and have a look (I've only had around 3 viruses in nearly 10 years and 2 of those were from a Japanese p2p prog. :lol:)
Photographs? That's something I've wondered myself, if they've been photographed or even interviewed since their retirement but I've seen nothing. I bet their have been paparazzi-type photos, it's just a matter of finding them.

For anyone who might've seen different tracklists for that - I've seen other tracklists that are a translation of the song titles with some of the song titles substituted for the titles of the originals they're covered. I felt that having the proper titles was more useful so I went and found the Japanese titles and romaji'd them.
That's Vol.2, I've since done more searching and found Vol's 1 & 3, both are 2-disc sets. I'll post them within the next day or 2. Found another album too, and a few other tracks. Hit the jackpot!

This is the first Peanuts CD I heard. A few years ago this seemed the only thing available. Then it was 160kbps, now here's a 320kbps version.
Also, the previously available version had huge glitches in Una Sera di Tokyo which was a shame as this version is different to all the other versions. This version contains no glitches.

Someone has posted The Peanuts' retirement TV Special on youtube (well, it's half of it, since the full version is twice as long). The comment on the video says it's from a laserdisc called "Last Date". It's in ONE 36 min part! :shocked

I was listening to W's Peanuts cover recently and I just decided to look upt he peanuts on wikipedia only to end up being the bearer of bad news...
Emi Ito of the Peanuts passed away on June 15 at the (relatively young) age of 71. :cry:
Now "The Peanuts" are no more.
Now there is only one.
But they shall live in their great music, appearances, and the hearts and minds and ipods/radios/music players of all of us fans forever. :otomerika:

This is cute clip! 3rd Shinshun Kakushigei Taikai, New Year 1966.
At 0:57 you've got an all-girl band, on guitars you have Ishida Ayumi, The Peanuts, Azusa Michiyo, Okumura Chiyo, on drums Nakao Mie and they don't caption the keyboard player so I don't know who she is.
I wish they showed more than just that short clip.
