AKB48 group to hold their 2nd 'Draft Kaigi' in May
January 23, 2015

It was announced that AKB48 group would be holding "the 2nd Draft Kaigi" on May 10 at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo.

The announcement was made during the third day of their annual event, "AKB48 Request Hour Set List Best 1035 2015" which was held at TOKYO DOME CITY HALL on January 23.

This is the second time for the event to be held as it was last held in November 2013. The first 'Draft Kaigi' was held just like the drafts in professional baseball as it was at the same venue and similar format, but this time, it will be held at Ariake.

According to the group's official site, the candidates that are picked will be joining as Kenkyuusei of each team.

The applications will be accepted until February 12 at noon.

Sashihara Rino opposes Draft Meeting
April 30, 2015

On TBS TV show "HKT48 No Odekake" (dated 29 April 2015), HKT48 Theater Manager Sashihara Rino (指原莉乃) claimed she opposes AKB48 group Draft Meeting.

Sashihara Rino explained why she opposes AKB48 group Draft Meeting, first it is very harsh for an age 13 to 14 child moving home, she had the experience when she moved to Tokyo to be the member of AKB48.

In last AKB48 group Draft Meeting, Sashihara Rino chose Yamamoto Mao (山本茉央) because she is from (Fukuoka of) Kyushu.

Moreover Sashihara Rino said she is not a staff, she will graduate from the group one day, she can not be responsible for the draft member she picks.

NGT48 will participate DRAFT meeting
May 03, 2015

AKB48's new sister group NGT48 will participate the 2nd AKB48 Group Draft Meeting, NGT48 theater manager Imamura Etsuro (今村悦朗), NGT48 captain Kitahara Rie (北原里英) and concurrent member Kashiwagi Yuki (柏木由紀) will represent NGT48 at the event.

Imamura Etsuro, Kitahara Rie and Kashiwagi Yuki will be representatives of NGT48, they may pick the candidates for the group at Draft Meeting, this year candidates being picked would become research student, the 2nd AKB48 group Draft Meeting will be held on 10 May 2015.

AKB48 group hold their 2nd 'Draft Kaigi', 24 girls are drafted
May 11, 2015

On May 10, "The 2nd AKB48 Group Draft Kaigi" was held at Ariake Coliseum. A total of 13 teams from AKB48 (except team 8 ), SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, and new group NGT48 (to be launched in October) participated in the event.


At the end of the event,  24 girls among 47 candidates were drafted into the AKB48 groups. The 24 girls whose negotiations are settled, will join the team as Kenkyuusei, and will aim to get promoted as its members.

SKE48 drafted members to become kenkyuusei
June 15, 2015

The 5 members who were drafted into SKE48 during "The 2nd AKB48 Group Draft Kaigi" in May will formally become kenkyuusei members.

On June 12, SKE48's 2nd generation drafted members Kamimura Ayuka, Isshiki Rena, Mizuno Airi, Shirai Kotono, and Sugawara May appeared in the opening performance of the group's "Te wo Tsunaginagara" concert at SKE48 Theater. During the performance, they announced their joining the group. Kamimura and Isshiki are kenkyuusei for Team S, Mizuno and Shirai for Team KII, and Sugawara for Team E. From now on, the girls will aim to become official members.
