@Yuki88: If you do, it is a combination of things reason why it is a curse too. Although Takamina doesn't help that cause quite freely
@cisda: It gets worst
Thirty-six“I knew it.”
“How long were you behind me?”
“Long enough to admit your past.”
“You didn’t ask about my past.”
“I knew about it because I distributed the pictures.”
“It ruined my whole life.” Sasshi grunted.
“How do you think I feel? Your boyfriend breaks up with you for someone who lacked physique. It hurts as a woman to suffer from jealousy.”
“I suffered because of the teasing by everyone and you allowed someone to beat him up.”
“He deserved it but I nursed him back to health.”
“That’s despicable of you.”
“I gave it up for him and he turned on me before accepting me back. I never told him I had taken his camera and loaded everything onto the internet.”
“Yet you employ me because?”
“The torture won’t end because of high school and now since Kuu has been laid twice, you don’t have to worry about losing it to him.”
“Wait! What?? You were trying to rid of his energy because you are afraid of me liking him.”
“Who said I was afraid? My cousin told me about him and now he can be mines forever.”
“Takamina, it doesn’t make any sense to me. You want Kuu badly because you want to break my heart.”
“Yes.” She said proudly.
“If that’s the case, you can have him. Torture me all you want but if you want to only bring back the past, you have me as your slave.”
“It is already done.” She said before leaving the area.
Sasshi wasn’t entirely sure what the last statement meant but all the admiration was drained out of her for Kuu.
Thirty-sevenKuu managed to finish three days straight of work and was on the verge of the fourth when his ringtone alarmed him from his slumber.
“Nee, Ani.”
“Miichan, why are you calling me at 2:00 in the afternoon?”
“Kuu-kun, I want to visit you since papa and mama are on a trip.”
“Where are you at?”
“Your apartment.”
“I’ll get you. I just moved out.”
Kuu jumped into a taxi to the old apartment complex fifteen minutes away. He noticed to the slight build up in traffic and requested for a quicker way. The driver pulled to the farthest left lane and blasted through the hold up to the complex.
“Ani, why didn’t you tell anyone you moved?”
“I just got a new job and moved into that place.” He explained.
“Sugoi, I want to check it out.”
Kuu smiled at her younger sister as she was escorted to the cab and returned back. Miichan was amazed by her brother’s progress in the world but knew her parents wouldn’t approve of her doing the same thing.
Pulling up to the building, Kuu paid out the fee and helped her take out the small bag.
“How long are you planning to stay?”
“One night. I need to get to Tokyo for my job interview.”
“Honto! Great job of finding an interview.”
“Ani was a great inspiration for job hunting.” She smiled as they headed up to the room.
With the hostesses on the ground floor, Kuu had a clear path to her room. She dropped her stuff onto the bed and let her lounge in the chair.
“I have an extra futon, so you can sleep on the bed tonight.”
“Really? Thank you so much. It is so nice to be outside of the busy streets.” She commented as she looked out.
“I have to work late so sleep when you can. I’ll get dinner from downstairs.”
“Okay.”
Kuu walked to the kitchen and got his meal from Rena, which usually consisted of a spicy stew and a melon pan but added an extra one when he mentioned his sister. Heading up the stairs, he began to think about Sasshi and the last time they had been together. With a sigh, he went towards the room and stared at her door.
“Ani, is something a matter?”
“Nothing, just pondering over something.”
“Oooh, curry and melon pan.”
His hunger diminished once he thought about her. The past three days they were on different shifts as Takamina had set it up to be. The two Tomomi’s were usually with him and they entertained a lot of people especially Kasai but not seeing Sasshi made him wonder what he had done.
“Kuu-kun, you don’t look too well.” Miichan fed him a spoon of the curry and felt the molten lava creep down his throat.
As he struggled against the heat, Miichan grabbed her bottled water from her bag and forced him to glug down the contents.
“Miichan!! Why did you feed me the curry?”
“I thought you were hungry, Ani.”
“Thanks, but I am just stumped on something.”
“Is it a girl?” Miichan asked.
“You would know about that.”
“She must be really cute.”
“Sort of.”
“You always get the attractive ones.” She ribbed him.
“Nothing ever gets by you, even if you saw me with my first girlfriend.” He stopped as her cheeks grew red.
“Ani, father and mother don’t know I’m really active.”
“Haha, as long as you protect yourself, you’ll be fine.”
“Mou~ Miichan knows her limits.”
“I don’t want to know the details but if I don’t get back, just lock the door and sleep.”
“Okay Ani.”
He looked at the clock and headed toward the kitchen for prep. Kuu only caught a glance of Sasshi before heading toward the bar.
Thirty-eightTakamina swiftly escaped from the bar and headed into the kitchen as usual. The Tomomis established themselves as a duo but Kasai knew her clientele compared to Tomochin and it left a lot of rift between them.
Kuu got to see the men who disliked the hostesses and they talked about their wives to him. In return he cautiously admitted his blessing of not having a girlfriend.
However an unusual sighting of a woman walking up to the bar, Kuu smiled at her as he leaned in for the order.
“I want whiskey on the rocks.”
Granting her order, Kuu slid the glass towards her and snatched it quickly from the bar.
“Such a young man must have a girlfriend.”
“No, ma’am.”
“Uso! Attractive men must have one or they’ll regret it later.”
“I guess I never looked at it that way.”
“But I can see it in your eyes. You have someone in mind but a person is blocking her from you.”
Kuu smiled at her as he got the next order.
“I’m not a soothsayer but I have seen that look in your eyes before. Do you think you don’t have a chance?”
“I think I won’t have happiness because of who I am.”
“Son, please listen to your heart. Tell her that you loved her.”
“I will ma’am.”
“I also have this ring to help you be convinced of my kind words.”
“Thank you.”
She left the bar with a cautious walk and a tip of 10,000 yen. Kuu slipped half the money into the tip jar and the other half into the register. His happiness couldn’t seem to go away as he was left to admire the ring in his pocket.
He ended his shift with the complementary shot of cheap whiskey and cleaned the area for the night. Takamina sat down at the table as she watched him head up the stairs.
“You know what you got to do.”
“Yes, Takamina.”
Thirty-nineKuu approached the knob of his door when the door behind him opened up.
“How was the late shift?”
“The usual.”
“Kuu… can we speak in private?”
“Sasshi…”
Kuu walked into her room and closed the door behind them.
“Do you feel that workplace romances fall apart easily?”
“I never really had one unless you experienced one yourself.”
“I was just wondering…”
“I guess they do but they work if both people understand each other.”
Sasshi locked the door behind her and leaned onto Kuu, pushing him onto the bed.
“Sasshi, we don’t have to do this.”
“I just want to kiss you.”
Her lips touched his for a moment. Kuu gently push her back.
“This is dangerous.”
“I know. But this is the truth I need to hear from you.”
“Let’s go out on the town.”
Kuu grasped her hand and headed toward the town.
