Drabbles
Raspberry
They were eating. It seemed like they always ate when they were together. But this was different somehow. Nono always ate with such vigor, only ever really caring about appearances on camera. Today, though, she ate slowly, teasingly, placing the berry at the entrance to her mouth and gently biting into it. The sweet juice collected on her lips, staining them a light red, and Makoto found her eyes drawn to those lips, to that juice.
Tsuji grinned inwardly at the girl in front of her, staring with such intensity that her mouth hung open. She savored another sweet berry, watching Mako-chan start to lean forward unconsciously.
Just as Makoto was staring to wonder exactly what those lips tasted like now, a voice broke into her thoughts, “Well? Are you just going to sit there catching flies, or are you going to do something?”
The spell broken, Makoto lunged forward, locking lips with Nono and muffling her giggles. Climbing over the bench and knocking them both to the floor, Makoto’s last coherent thought was, ‘Mmm, raspberry.’
Water
Sayumi wasn’t sure how she had ended up at the lake that night or why she was with Yui, whom she had only met a few times. They weren’t even really close, but the girl was like a whirlwind, her words sweeping up everything in their path and just setting them down wherever. She figured that must be why her clothes were missing too.
The older girl was fun, though, splashing and laughing, even shrieking when Sayu started winning. Eventually their water battles calmed and a truce was called, and they talked about everything and nothing. And when they tired of talking, a great feat for them both, they just swam around each other in the shallow water.
“You know, Sayumi-chan,” Yui suddenly called, “This was fun.”
“Yeah.” Sayu agreed nodding even though she knew the other girl couldn’t see it in the dark. This had been fun, no matter how they had gotten to this point or where their clothes were, it was all happy, innocent fun.
“You know what would be more fun?” Yui’s voice sounded by her ear and Sayumi spun around to face her submerged, moonlit form. It was silent for a moment.
Then Yui stood, water droplets running down her shoulders and between her magnificent breasts, and Sayu realized that innocent was a relative term.
Sparks
They had heard about the holiday from some of the other Haro Puro girls. The fourth of July, an American holiday, supposedly celebrating independence, but really just an excuse to shoot off fireworks and other loud exploding things, but of course, they had to try it once.
Rika raised an eyebrow, watching Erika chase some kids with sparklers in their hands. It was all in good fun, but Rika felt a little left out. Erika ran by with a shriek, kids on her tail, a single lit sparkler in one hand and an unopened box in the other. A smile tugged at the corner of her lips at seeing her lover unwind like this.
A few minutes passed where she lost sight of the older girl, but a slow trudging sound signaled her approach. Turning to greet her, Rika took one look and burst out laughing. Erika held her prizes aloft in one hand, on the other clung a small boy and two girls attached to her legs made walking difficult. Her hair was in disarray and her jeans were covered in grass stains with a new hole in the knee, but she was grinning like a mad woman.
Still laughing, Rika watched as the older girl gently coaxed the kids off their perches and sent them back to their parents with a couple of new sparklers. Sitting down heavily, Erika blew some bangs away from her eyes with a sigh and lit two sparklers, handing one to Rika.
“Those kids showed me something neat to do with these. Watch.” She held out the mini firework and quickly signed her name in the air, the light leaving a trail behind.
Rika laughed again, “I already knew that. Didn’t you?” When Erika shook her head, the charming one stared. “Didn’t you play with these when you were a kid?”
“My brothers tried to show me a few times, but I always got burned. When it happens four or five times, you give up.”
They spent a long time signing different things in the air, Rika reliving happy childhood memories, Erika being glad that her brothers weren’t around. Eventually, they reached the last one, but instead of signing anything, they just lit it and stuck it in the ground.
Sighing happily, Rika took the older girl’s hand and watched the sparkler burn slowly. Feeling her lover’s eyes on her, she looked up with a smile, “What?”
Silently, Erika reached over to pick up the sparkler and, staring deep into Rika’s eyes, drew the kanji for beauty in the air between them. Even in the dim light, she could tell the younger girl was blushing. Noticing that the sparkler was at the end of its life, she signed, in English, ‘I love you’ and leaned forward to kiss her lover gently, tossing the sparkler on the ground away from them.
And as the sparkler died out, the sparks were just igniting between them.
As always, feedback is appreciated.
