Saotome Miki was directly demoted to a Research Student. After lackluster performances in Team B for 2 years, Saotome returned to the research team in January 2009. Many have speculated about the reason for this demotion. Since the research students did have their own stage shows at this point, Saotome returned to perform on stage. After a long unexplained absence, she graduated in April 2009.
When I first got into AKB48 I did hear 'Mikipomu' in Wasshoi B, but I never realized who she was or what her story is.
