[2013.01.30] SKE48 - 11th Single "Choco no Dorei"

The single leaked so I had a quick listen:

- Choco and Darkness: Not my cup of tea on any level.
- Bike to Sidecar: Quite like this, but I comfess I mistook the clapping in the beginning for static 
- Fuyu no Kamome: Best song on the single. This is the style of J-pop I like best.
- Sore o Seishun to yobu hi: KUUMIN   
- Oikake Shadow: Weird mix of styles... Pretty cool. Needs more listens.

In sum, the coupling songs save the single for me. Fuyu for my rock needs and Seishun for the emotional touch.

Already one of my fav SKE singles.

Choco no Dorei: I loved this song since I heard the preview of it and I love the full version even more; PV is fun but Rena jumping over cars was weird but it's hilarious and I enjoyed it so I'll let it slide.
Darkness: I really love the song but PV-wise, it's leaves a lot to be desired. .____.
Bike & Sidecar: I love the song and the PV, it's all really cute but not over the top and idk it's just so nice and calming.
Fuyu no Kamome: Mmm not too sure what to say about this song, it's nice and I really dig it lol
Oikake Shadow: SERIOUSLY SO GOOD I really love songs that make me jump out of my seat and dance.
Sore wo Seishun to Yobu Hi: Such a beautiful song, sound and lyric-wise; both the song and pv just kill me. ; n ;

I was confused by the 7 Dancers and 14 Carat groups since I thought they got rid of Shiro/Aka, but I like that they're using this to include more girls. Though it sucks that now Shiro and Aka don't get PVs, kinda miss when they were both huge groups like in Cosmos and Seishun wa Hazukashii.

tl:dr I really love this single man.

SKE48’s latest single sells 539,000 copies, tops Oricon weekly chart

Popular idol group SKE48’s 11th single “Choco no Dorei” (released on January 30th) sold 539,000 copies in the first week, topping Oricon’s weekly single ranking. This is the best first week sales for the group, and is the 7th consecutive single to top the chart.

With this single, they have surpassed Onyanko Club for a female group’s record for the number of consecutive chart topping singles, and have become No.3 overall after AKB48 (16 consecutive singles) and Pink Lady (9 consecutive singles).

SKE48 also become the 4th female artist to sell over 500,000 copies in the first week for 2 consecutive singles which has only been accomplished by Utada Hikaru, Hamasaki Ayumi, and AKB48.

Matsui Jurina commented, “I am very happy to have the highest sales number for the first week since our debut. Because of everyone’s support, we were able to do this. Thank you very much.” She also said, “The other artists who have achieved the consecutive chart topping record, are all well-known, so it’s such an honor. I want everyone to know the charms of SKE48 more and more, so we will continue to put our best foot forward.”

Soundscan seems only to list the sales for the Limited Edition (not the Regular Edition) versions for some reason. They list:

Type A Limited Edition - 64,365
Type B Limited Edition - 60,751
Type C Limited Edition - 55,583

Which totals 180,699 copies from the three Limited Editions.
