Música en Español
« on: May 02, 2007, 05:45:26 AM »
I don't speak it, but I just adore music in spanish!

This is a thread where you can just discuss all sorts of music, as long as it's in spanish. Feel free to upload music as examples for people new to it all (like me!) :D

Here's some Spanish ska - a fairly popular group called Ska-P. They're an ultra liberal group, but I don't mind much because I can hardly understand what they're saying. They're known for really catchy refrains. You'll see what I mean as you listen.

This album is their 2nd to last album, and it's my favorite from them. It has a good mix of rock (El Nino Soldado, Mis Colegas), ska (Welcome to Hell, McDollar), and ... what sounds to me like Irish-style punk ala Flogging Molly (Consumo Gusto, Esquirol).

I've got their discography, so I can start a torrent/upload the rest if people want. Here's the link to Que Corra La Voz:

To the Spanish posters, sorry for not using the tilde thing above the n, I don't remember how to do it :/

I'm Mexican!!! o/ hehe

Actually I don't like spanish music ... ahm I think that the music has changed... T___T really I don't like now... but some groups or artists are good! but... only some in this days... some years ago in America were many bands or artists with good music, good lyrics, good voice, now I think (not only spanish music) that many groups are focused in styles like punk, emo, and that ways, or... the famous... Reggaeton! T__T I don't like that music because they don't leave me anything to my life! to my mind... there are a few groups that defend themselves but... only a few...

If you want to sing in Spanish (and other languages) you can do it but you have to know what are you singing XD here exists good music... yeap!

For example...

I like... ahm... ahm... haha XDD (Now I have to remember who were my favorites artists before Jmusic! XDD haha)

I like Shakira (at the beginning, in this days... maybe), Thalía, In groups... rock: Maná (not like Mana of Malice Mizer XDDDDDDD), Volován (like Plastic Tree in Japan =D rock indie), Jaguares, Pop: Onda Vaselina (or OV7 when they grow up), Kabah, Juanes!!! really exist many artists but now I don't remember haha because my mind is full with H!P and other Japanese artists and groups! In this moment I'm listening Jmusic XD so... XDDD

But really how in many countries, there are good and bad things, good and bad people, good and bad music XDDD but I think that: The music has changed very much in the world... T___T

Note: Sorry for my English XDDD I hope that you can understand me XDDD  if not... I have to cry! 'cause I was writting with all my heart XDDDDDD hahaha GREETINGS!!!!!! XOXO ^*^

I strongly dislike reggaeton! I prefer spanish rock more than anything, but reggaeton just gets on my nerves in the same way that most popular rap in english does. It seems more like a form of exploitation than art

And your english is very good :D Welcome to the forum!

the Trova!!! =''')

Fernando Delgadillo (Mexican) is an example:

Fernando Delgadillo - Balada del reflejo -->

Fernando Delgadillo - Hoy ten miedo de mí -->

Fernando Delgadillo - No me pidas ser tu amigo -->

Silvio Rodriguez (from Cuba)

Silvio Rodriguez -Ojalá -->

If I think in other artists I will be here! XDDD

SERENAMIL WINS!!!!! Reggaeton SUCKS!!!!!

Anyway, I'm from Venezuela, and I like some rock and pop in spanish, like Maná, Amigos Invisibles, Shakira in her early days (Pies Descalzos anyone?), Yordano, Ricardo Montaner, some of RBD songs are good too, Juanes, Ricardo Arjona, but what I really really enjoy are the old great ones, like Miguel Bosé and  Mecano (there's more). As a matter of fact, I find that Miguel Bosé's voice and lyric style is really similar to GACKT's. Check it out, here's Miguel Bosé and Shakira making a duet from the new "Papito" album celebrating Miguel's 30 years career. This is one of his best songs (yes, he writes his own songs) called "Si tú no vuelves" (If you don't come back). If you like it, I can upload the whole thing (Papito comes as a 2 CD special album, as almost everybody that's anybody is the spanish pop and rock scene wanted a duet with Miguel, including the legendary Armando Manzanero).

My first upload for the thread is the most recent album from Los Tres, a great Chilean rock band!

Hágalo Usted Mismo - http://www.sendspace.com/file/oxg8jt

The album is really nice, it mixes traditional sounds with modern rock. And I suck at explaining things, but it's really nice, so just download it XD

Next, I think I'll start uploading music from my favorite Mexican artists :D

Plastilina Mosh
Wikipedia says..."Plastilina Mosh is a Mexican alternative rock group from Monterrey, Mexico formed by Alejandro Rosso and Juan José González (best known as Jonás). The group often mixes several music styles like rap, dance and rock while often switching between English, Spanish and several other languages in the same song."

Sample songs:

Millionaire http://www.sendspace.com/file/mlyd2y

It is entirely possible that I'm going to ruin my credibility as a purveyor of indie hispanic music with this album, but here it is anyway!

Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights - http://www.sendspace.com/file/4qu1bx

I know you all are thinking, "Sabrina, why this album?!" And here's why! It's a really fun album, the mixing of english and spanish is great because it's just for fun. You can tell the album wasn't put together to be taken seriously, it was just to get you to dance. You may also recognize Dance Like This as an earlier version of Hips Don't Lie. Personally, I prefer the earlier version (probably because it hasn't been played on the radio until I'm ready to cut off my ears). Nothing against Shakira or Wyclef Jean, though

Recommended tracks: El Estuche, Guajira (I love U 2 Much), and Represent, Cuba

Mmm, Diego Luna

Yes, Daddy Yankee is considered as a hispanic artist (I haven't heard music from him in a while, but isn't Rompe mostly in spanish?). Personally, it's not the sort of music I listen to. However, I strongly encourage diversity within this thread so uploads from artists such as Daddy Yankee or Don Omar are always welcome!

I was never really interested in spanish music. the only band i sort of like is La Ley because Beto Cuevas is my favorite male singer, and because they are from Chile. I do listen to a lot of Chilean hard rock/metal because Chile has a lot of great guitar players, but most of those bands sing in english.

I love La Mala Rodriguez, she's an hip-hop singer, and most of her songs are great !
I recommend Nananai, La Loca, and La Niña.

I wouldn't say I listen to reggaeton, but I have heard some I like.

BRUJERIA
This death metal/grindcore/whatever other crazy shit people use to classify metal band used to be masked members from Fear Factory, Napalm Death, Faith No More, Testament, and Dimmu Borgir. Two members left to form ASESINO. A lot of the themes in their songs are about drugs, politics, sex, and Satanism.

Brujeria - La Migra

Brujeria - La Ley de Plumo

I found a video of Asesino, but it wasn't that good, so here's a live cover of 'Angel of Death'
