So TV-Nihon is doing a reboot of sorts on Kamen Rider 555, which was the first KR series they subbed. From what I can tell, they're basically keeping the same translations (though they might tweak some spots where they realized they made mistakes the first time around), updating the typesettings (i.e. font/text effects), and using rips from the DVDs instead of the TV rips they used the first time around. More power to them if they want to do this, but personally, I'm probably not going to bother with getting it for now, as I already have all the Faiz stuff they did from the first time around. Maybe sometime down the line, if/when they do batch torrents I'll get them and burn them to disc just for the sake of having them.
Finished up watching Ryuki earlier today... another KR series watched in full.
I found it very different in having the main character, Shinji/Ryuki, die in the second to last ep, but actually all the Riders in the series died.
A good series, though, IMO, one I liked.
Agreed. In terms of story/plot, I'd have to say Ryuki was one of, if not the best Heisei Rider series that has been done. They kept the concept of the Rider War constant throughout the whole series, and they didn't have many side stories to distract you. The side stories that they did have, they kept simple and they made sure to wrap them up so that they didn't have many (if any) loose strings at the end that made you think "wait, what about _____?"
I watched the Den-O Saraba movie, which is a good movie and a definite nice way to finally end Den-O.
Momo and Co. are always a blast to watch, especially Momo and his usual mannerisms.
Real good end battle to the movie, plenty to go around.
Thing about this movie that I loved was that Ryoutarou was actually NOT the main focus of the movie (at least, IMO he wasn't). IMO the movie was as much about the Taros as it was about the Ryoutarou & Kotarou arcs. Hell, even in the cast credits Satoh Takeru (who played Ryoutarou) wasn't given top billing in this flick. Instead it went to the kid who played Kotarou. Regardless of who got what billiing in the credits, for sure it was better written and executed than Climax Deka, IMO.
Here's something that I've thought of fairly recently concerning Shikenger and what will be the obvious bastardization of it when it gets brought over to the U.S.
With the theme of the series, just gotta wonder how its gonna get so fucked up just to get it "Americanized" for the U.S. audience.

Assuming that the rumours aren't true that after RPM, the PR franchise is going to stop using Sentai footage and instead turn it into an animated/cartoon series; if they
do stick with the current formula and use Shinkenger footage in the PR version, I shudder to think of what they're going to come up with for the morpher. I really cannot see them keeping the Shodophone and the Mojikara motif, as the whole thing about writing in kanji is something that's so unique to Japanese culture, if you're not already at least somewhat knowledgeable/interested in it, just doesn't sound like it would appeal/work/make sense for your typical western viewer (especially since they're going to have mostly western/non-Japanese actors playing the roles). The whole sword/samurai thing can probably be covered if they did a dojo/samurai school thing like what they did for Ninja Storm, but yeah, unless they turn the PR characters into "Japanifiles" or something similar, the whole Mojikara/kanji thing seems like it would be difficult at best.

- To be honest, I'm not pleased with the final result that I got for the last 2 GIFs. The CGI flames, the overabundance of red from ShinkenRed's suit & Rekka Daizantou and the usual bain of having a lot of grey in the background lead to a shitload of extra pixelation (aka "grainy-ness") that just irks the shit out of me.
