Luciano Pavarotti, the Italian singer whose ringing, pristine sound set a standard for operatic tenors of the postwar era, has died. He was 71.

I saw him twelve years ago on his "Concert for Bosnia" in 1995, and although by that time his voice had started to fade, he was still amazing. Opera has lost his greatest spokesman.
Rest in peace, Luciano.

Oh my god, this is so sad. I used to have a poster of him on my wall.
Simply put, he was the best.
RIP Luciano

That's a shame. Regardless of whether you like opera or not, you just knew Pavarotti was an icon in that genre by name alone.
My condolences go to Pavarotti and those closest to him at this time

I've heard and seen his works but didn't actually know his name per se, sad news though. May he RIP.

Wow. There is so much death in the world I don't even know. This guy was amazing & I loved his work. I hope he rests in peace & is singing for angels now. When Andrea Bocelli dies( lord help me) I am gonna flip the hell out.

World renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti has died at his home in the northern Italian city of Modena.
The singer, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, was 71.
His charismatic performances - particularly alongside fellow tenors Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras - helped bring a new audience to opera.

His voice was unique and powerful, with the ability to touch practically anyone even if they weren't a fan of Opera. "Nessun Dorma" is still and will continue to be one of my favourite songs to listen to.
