first place I thought to to post, im on my uncles computer. we evacuated and our home is powerless and a bit messed up and will be without power for 1-2 weeks is what theyre saying. were all alright, my best to the others who had their homes/areas messed up or lost. hope all is well in H!Pland! i wont be around for awhile as you mightve guessed by now.

Update:

Lines at the public library for 15 minutes of computer time are now sane enough to post. Day 14 without power is looming. It's not the lack of electricity that bothers me so much, it's the cold. We had a Nor'easter smack us a few days ago which brought down more trees/tree limbs which resulted in more down power lines. I realize now that the storm(s) themselves weren't even that powerful but that our infrastructure was built to barely withstand a sneeze. It's been pretty surreal seeing what people are made of... what they're really like when backed up against the wall. Lots of heartwarming stories of community and people helping people helps when I'm under two blankets, 2 pairs of pants, etc. in a 41 degree house.

Got this deliciousness in the mail today, FINALLY, after a couple weather related delays:

My initial intention was to tear it up and scan it, but...there's no way I can manage that. It's way bigger and sturdier than I had anticipated, and it's just too nice to destroy

I probably should have bought a second one if that's what I wanted to do, but at this point I'd have to wait a whole month, and it's not exactly cheap ;_;
