---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone! :) This is my first time here, so please take care of me. I've been a guest silent reader for quite a long time now and became a member just recently. I didn't have the confidence to write a story since I was afraid of being criticize, but after reader a good number of amazing fanfictions in this forum and became inspired by them. I tried to encourage myself to write something like the others.

This is obviously my first attempt, so I hope you would like it.

P.S: It's base on an anime I watched with my sister a really long time ago, but I plan to create it in my own way and make some major changes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prologue - My First Kiss

The nights were always so quiet in this city; however, tonight was an exception. Tonight was filled with loud sounds of police sirens, heading to a specific part of the city. In the evening news, many policemen and reporters were seen through the camera, surrounding the city’s famous museum.

Nothing was happening yet. This morning, one of my best friends told me something big was going to happen tonight at exactly 11 o’clock. She didn’t specify what exactly but whatever it was, it was the talk of the city since the morning news; the whole city knew about it, even my father was fussing about it when he received a call from his office and he had to bolt to prepare himself for the event.

Since every channel was broadcasting live reports about the mystery notice in the museum, I sat on the floor; my back resting at the side of my bed as I watched the local news channel. My eyes darted to the clock stating that it was only a couple of minutes before eleven. Being curious as I was, I waited for time to slowly approach the said hour as the event was nearing to begin.

“We are just moments away from the specified time for the reappearance of the legendary phantom thief; Dark Kai. Would he really fly in as the legend say?” The female reporter stated as I paid attentively to the screen of my television.

A couple of minutes later, the woman commanded her cameraman where her finger indicated the dark sky. The screen only showed the sky filled with shimmering stars. The camera kept moving until it finally stopped and showed a dark figure roaming above the building.

“It’s Dark Kai! After nearly twenty years of obscurity, the phantom thief has finally showed itself.” The reporter exclaimed.

One by one, lights flashed at the unknown figure’s direction, revealing its presence clearer to the camera. From what I could see was quite a short figure with angel wings, but there was something different about those wings; instead of being as white as snow, they were jet black like the darkness.

”The burglar circled above as its taunting the police.” The woman narrated as her cameraman zoomed his camera to the figure’s face. “Amazing! It appears the phantom thief is actually a boy! From here, it looks as though he can’t be more than eighteen years old.”  The woman commented.

Amazed by witnessing such unimaginable thing, the boy was actually flying. He was quite handsome with his golden hair and his cool black outfit. Continuing to watch with interest, the camera kept filming the winged boy, waiting for his first move.

“The mysterious bird from above had suddenly disappeared!” The woman gasped through her microphone as she deliberately narrated everything she saw around. “The police are making their move; they’re storming the building now!”

It was like watching a movie or something. So this was the big event my friend told me about. Not being able to know what was happening inside the museum, a question lingered in my mind since the beginning. Would my father and his team be able to capture this legendary thief?

After a good couple of minutes, the reporter stood before the camera once again after receiving confirmation for her final conclusion. It was over. Did they catch him or not?

“Taking advantages of weaknesses in the security, the mysterious thief made good on his promise to wield the Sacred Maiden statue as he disappeared into the night with his black wings.” The woman announced, concluding tonight’s story.

I sighed disappointingly, knowing that my father and his team has failed to capture the phantom thief and retrieve the statue back. My father told numerous stories about the legendary thief when I was a little girl, saying how he and our ancestors were trying so hard to catch that crook. At first, I thought it was just a myth; a myth which the elderly created to tell to their children so their children would tell to their children and so on and so forth. However, after witnessing it on live broadcast, it was far from a myth; far from a night’s children story. It was in fact a reality. The legend was real.

Turning the television off, I immediately went off to bed to get some sleep after wasting my time watching the news. Shutting the light from the lamp on my bedside table, I laid on my bed comfortably and readied to shut my eyes close. But before drifting off to sleep, strange noises was heard coming from the outside of my balcony. Due to the moonlight, I became aware of a really big shadow trying to get into my room.

Anxiety filled my nerves as I gulped nervously of what would happen. I silently gasped when I heard a tiny click from the door. The shadow successfully entered my room and quickly, gently closed the door back as he looked through the curtain.

Why was I afraid of something like this? For God sakes, I’m the Chief Commander’s daughter; I shouldn’t fear; besides, I could just report this to my father if anything bad happens.

Turning my lamp back on, I tried to get a better look of the intruder. I gasped loudly when I saw black angel’s wings. The intruder faced me with fear. The person before me was none other the famous phantom thief, Dark Kai. This was the boy my father was searching for for almost two decades straight.

All of a sudden, without thinking, I let out a shrieking scream, calling for help for whoever was in the mansion at this moment an intruder broke into our home. Suddenly, I felt a soft and warm hand abruptly shutting my mouth preventing me from screaming.

“Wait! I’m not going to hurt you! Please be quiet!” He whispered loudly, sounding panicky as he begged me to keep quiet.

Nonetheless, I had other plans, I struggled myself under his tight grip, removing his hands off my mouth and screamed twice as hard while trying to push him away from me, ready to run out of my room. Suddenly, I felt my wrist being grabbed and my body being pushed on my bed, pinning me from struggling and from going anywhere.

“What do you think you’re doing?! Stop—!” I yelled but was immediately interrupted when I felt something warm, soft and slightly wet pressed against my lips.

My eyes shot opened and widen, double in size after realizing that I was being kissed by the legendary thief himself.

To be continued

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's quite short :P yet I hope you enjoyed it.

Now the question is, should I continue the story?

Feel free to post you comments and PM me when have questions or suggestions. :on lol:

Ooooh! AtsuMina with a sort of Magic Kaito/Kaitou Kid or D.N.Angel or a mix of both backdrop storyline. Me likey!

I love Kai/Takamina's black wings! Very fitting because of her Bird performance. It's so much cooler compared to just giving her a cape. Takamina here is in her Kai persona, right? So that means she is a guy here in your fic. No matter. AtsuMina is still AtsuMina even if Takamina is a guy. He isn't wearing a mask, is he?

Ganbare! I'll be waiting for your updates!

I'd like Takamina to be a girl in this fic (well actually in all of the fics) since it'd be like Jane Doe.

My replies:

@Chichay12: Yay! my first comment! :w00t: You're my first commentator on my first fanfiction. XD Yes, it's an AtsuMina fanfic XD. You seem very excited for this :). Thank you for the warm welcome; and thank you for reading and leaving a comment, it means so much to me to be appreciated for my work XD.

@blackwhite: You really think so Thank you so much. If you say so, then I'll continue writing this story. Thank you for taking the time to read and to leave a comment. XD

@ezha: Thank you for welcoming me :). Of course, I'll definitely update and give more. Thank you for your time to read and commenting. XD

@Sydney W: I'll give more in this story, don't worry about it . Thank you for reading and commenting. XD

@hikari_043083: Yeah, it's actually based on DN Angel and a mix of a bunch of my ideas in it. Takamina's wings are very fitting for that song but instead of her wings being white, they're black. Just so you know, I hate capes. Honestly, I would never create a character wearing a capes; it's too old fashion for my taste. Who knows if Takamina is a guy in here; you'll just have to find out in the next chapter. And to my final add, in this story, Takamina is not wearing a mask. I'll do my very best, thank you for waiting, reading and taking the time to comment. XD

@Feat: Yeah, it is more or less like the anime DN Angel. Thank you for finding the time to read and to comment. XD

@Haruko: It's like the anime but not completely; I'll make a lot of changes to the original story and keep a couple of the big events from the anime itself. Thank you very much for reading and for commenting. XD

@blughise: As I've said in the beginning, yes, I've watch the whole anime with my younger sister when it first came out; it was a very long time ago. I thought I'd make my own story based on it. Always look forward to it and thank you for the welcoming, for reading and for commenting. XD

@Kochiki: Yep, you're right about the anime. I didn't feel reading the manga, it's too long in my opinion and just watching the anime is saving much more time than to read fourteen volumes of the series plus on hiatus. Yeah, there's already a kiss, just exactly like the anime. Your curiosity will be answered in the next chapter. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. XD

@Yuseichaaan48: It is an AtsuMina story. XD Thank you for welcoming me, reading my story and leaving a comment. XD

@Tanchan: Well in this fic, who knows if Takamina is actually a girl; even I, as an author, don't know her gender in this story. You'll just have to read the next chapter to find out. Thank you for reading and for commenting. XD

@cisda83: It is close to DN Angel but only to some events; I will recreate the story in my way. So it's not exactly an original but based on the anime itself with many major changes. Your welcome and thank you for reading and commenting. XD

(A/N): I am seriously sorry for the really long delay and thank you for being patient with me. I just finished my exams and took quite a while to write this chapter; once I finished writing, I didn't like how the chapter went after proof-reading it myself so I rewrote it for the second time and proof-read it again and it was nearly complete. Finally, I was able to finish it with all the comments I had received to motivate me. Thank you so much readers and silent readers for reading my first fic, it really means so much to me. I hope you will enjoy this chapter more than the prologue and I hope it's better than I expected to be. Please enjoy and don't be shy to leave a comment. XD :)

Chapter 1 – Complex Feelings

My body froze from any movement as I tried to grasp the situation I was in. I could feel his lips pressed against mine as his eyelashes tickled my cheek. The moment he pulled away, I could see his face much closer and maybe it was my imagination but an unexpected image appeared before my eyes.

What? No way. Takamina-san?

*~*~*~*~*~*

Washing my face with cold water a couple of times, I looked up to see my reflection in the mirror and noticed my cheeks were showing a bright shade of red and I knew I was blushing. I shut my eyes close momentarily and reopened them and close them again.

It was a dream…definitely a dream; it has to be. I repeated that mantra in my mind over and over again as I opened my eyes and stared down at the sink filled with cold water. My fingers unconsciously went up to my lips as I remembered the feeling of his soft lips pressed against mine. Realising what I was thinking, my face heated up twice as much as I once again splashed water on my face and grabbed the towel from its rack and wiped every drop of water trickling down my face.

This didn’t make any sense. At some point, why did he remind me of Takamina-san?

Suddenly, the door burst open revealing my older sister, panting as a worried look was evident across her face. She looked around my bathroom and walked out of the piece as I followed her and watched her looking under my bed; she did the same thing when she exited to the balcony and found nothing.

“Everything alright Yuko-nee?” I asked as she mumbled something I wasn’t able to comprehend.

“Yeah I’m okay, but more importantly, are you alright? I heard you screaming a while ago and instantly came running to your room.” She said, walking towards me and inspected my body for any injuries.

Obviously, I couldn’t tell her what exactly happened in my room. Whatever happens in my room stays in my room. Typical, I know; however, I don’t plan on telling anything neither to my sister nor to my father, especially when both were always so protective to me; the youngest member of the family. Maybe a little white lie would do the trick from worrying about me. I may be the youngest of this family but for crying out loud, I’m already eighteen years old. I want to deal with my own problems by myself.

“Yeah I’m alright; just a nightmare.”

“A nightmare that made you scream that loud? Not to mention, in that amount of time?” She asked as I nodded innocently in response. “I seriously choked on good mineral water when I heard your piercing scream.” She added and let out a deep sigh as I muttered a small apology. “You better get some sleep now; I’ll bring you to school tomorrow.”

---

Now lying on my bed comfortably, I tried to close my eyes and fall asleep; however, a thought in mind prevented me from doing so. Thoughts of Takamina-san have been plaguing my mind ever since. Takamina-san is so… Just why couldn’t I stop thinking about her? She was always clumsy and unreliable and did everything wrong; there was nothing graceful and amazing about her. And to make matters worse and confusing, she was a girl; a little bit of a tomboy but that was not the point, which still didn’t change the fact that she was a girl. Dark Kai was obviously a boy and Takamina-san was obviously a girl. So why?

We were not as close as friends; furthermore, we were never friends in the first place. She was just a classmate like everybody else I wasn’t close to. We’ve talked only once in freshmen year when I needed her help for cleaning duty. But that was it. Nothing else happened after that. That time, I kept calling her Takahashi-san; but she told me to just call her Takamina since everybody called her that. But so, why couldn’t I get rid of her in my mind.

Without knowing, I drifted off to sleep with thoughts that exhausted my brain.

*~*~*~*~*~*

The sound of an alarm was piercing through my ears. Awakening from my slumber, I turned off the annoying alarm, stretching my limbs from sleepiness. Reluctantly, I sat up rubbing my still tired eyes as I stood to open the curtains from the entrance of my balcony; my body absorbing the slight warmth of the sunlight. My eyes glanced at the snoozed alarm indicating it was still early.

Like any high school student, I did my usual routine in the morning; freshening myself with a good hot bath, changing into my school uniform and eating breakfast.

Once walking down the stairs reaching the kitchen, I was greeted by my sister and noticed our father wasn’t home anymore. Taking my usual spot on the dining table, I began to eat my breakfast as I watched my sister doing something on her laptop.

“Where’s dad?” I asked.

“Went off to work early. It seemed that the phantom thief will steal the Brass Relief tonight at the central church.” She answered without taking her eyes off the screen of her laptop.

“And what are you doing?” I asked curiously.

“Investigating the phantom thief’s past and background.” She replied; her voice filled with enthusiasm.

Honestly, I was left dumbfounded by her answer. I didn’t bother to ask any more questions since it will end up having a conversation about the famous phantom thief, and obviously I didn’t want to be reminded about last night’s secret event with the legendary thief himself.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Arriving at my school, my sister parked the car in the school’s parking lot; I got out of the car as my sister did the same. I wondered why she had to park the car when she was only dropping me off.

“Why are you coming with me to school? Don’t you have something to do…like I don’t know—college?” I asked as she just shrugged and followed me by my side.

“I was planning to continue my research about this Dark Kai guy in the city library but I thought I might visit my old high school for a while; besides, I have class in the afternoon.” She replied, bringing both her arms at the back of her head.

Just when we were about to enter the school building, I heard a voice behind us, probably calling for us. Turning around, I found Takamina-san walking at our direction showing a shy dimpled smile pasted on her childish looking face. Realizing that I was staring, I felt my face heat up a little as I shook my head slightly ridding the thoughts away from last night’s event.

“Excuse me? You dropped this.”

“At it must’ve fallen off my pocket.” Yuko-nee said as she took her white handkerchief from Takamina-san’s hand and thanked her, bowing slightly. “Thanks kid.” Takamina-san’s head tilted a little from the side.

“No problem; good morning Atsuko-san.” She turned to me and greeted me; however, I could’ve sworn she blushed when we made eye contact. I wondered; why would she be blushing unless it has something to do about that night.

“Good morning Takamina-san. Um…this is my older sister Maeda Yuko; and Yuko-nee, this is my classmate Takahashi Minami.” Greeting her back, I introduced my sister to her.

“Nice to meet you little guy.” Yuko-nee said as she patted Takamina-san head that seemed to feel a little uncomfortable after being called a boy by my sister.

“I’m not small, and you’re not so tall yourself; and just for the record, I’m a girl, not a boy.” She said, frowning a little.

“Oh my God! I just assumed you were one, and if you’re a girl, why are you wearing a boy’s uniform?” Now that she mentioned it, I just realized she was wearing one since I first met her.

“It’s a long story; to make the long story short, let’s just say that I'm obligated to do so.” She simply explained; it wasn’t really a suitable explanation why she was wearing a boy’s uniform when she’s actually a girl. Was it a family tradition for girls to wear boy’s uniform?

“I see.” Yuko-nee simply said, tilting her head slightly, completely confuse at the answer as I am.

“Well, sorry for disturbing you; I’ll see you in class Atsuko-san.” She smiled, walking away and suddenly turned around. “Oh, and it’s nice to meet you too, Yuko-san.” She said as she walked inside the school.

"She's quite an interesting lass, isn't she?" My sister waved at the short girl as she crossed her arms against her chest.

---

My sister did her little visit around my school which was also her school; she reminisced about everything in places she revisited, stating how much the school hasn’t change one bit ever since she graduated. She entered the principal’s office and greeted the man happily as they cheerily chatted about her days in high school. From what I heard from the man, Yuko-nee was one hell of a troublemaker; however, he was also very proud of how the troublemaker Maeda Yuko was still good in terms of her grades and successfully graduated from the school without a sweat. She also met all her old teachers who were still currently teaching in the school building and talked about how her studies were doing and asking what program she was currently in.

The bell rang and Yuko-nee walked me off to class which was really unnecessary but I was still happy she did. Walking to my seat, I saw my sister walking outside taking one last look at the school before leaving.

The teacher came inside the classroom and we greeted her as usual. When she started teaching her class, I couldn’t understand what she was saying; in my ears, it was all gibberish. Usually, I would listen attentively and take a bunch of notes, adding more precise information like the good student I usually was; however, I just couldn’t concentrate on the subject at all. Mentally beating myself to concentrate on the board, I suddenly dropped my eraser; Takamina-san leaned forward as she picked up the fallen eraser and placing it on the palm of my hand and smiled at me.

“Here you go.”

“Thank you.” Thanking her, I felt my heart race a little when our hands touched slightly.

---

The bell had ringed for the fourth time today and it was finally lunch time. My two closest friends approached my desk as they grabbed a chair nearby and sat down; we brought out our lunches and begun to eat while talking about nonsense. Suddenly, a thought came into mind which bothered me since this morning or even since last night, and I asked,

“What do you guys know about Takahashi Minami?”

“What about her?” Miichan asked; her brows frowning slightly.

“Just curious, that’s all.” I reasoned while shrugging. “You told me you were friends with her since preschool.” I added.

“She was more of Kuu’s friend to me. They’re much closer together compared to my friendship with Takamina.” She said as she drank her juice box.

“Did she wear a boy’s uniform back in middle school?” I asked curiously; obviously still trying to find out why she would wear them in the first place.

“Now that you mention it, she did wear one. One time, I asked her and even told Kuu to ask her, and we both got the same answer. She just said that it was a family tradition or something like that. She also said that every girl born in the Takahashi family will practically be raise like a boy; I think that’s what she said to me and Kuu.” She explained as she attempted to think and dig deeper into her memory about the person in question. “I guess that’s all I can give you…I think.”

“Well, back then, I used to find her cute and charming in a way.” Tomochin suddenly said as she stopped eating and looked away momentarily. Was it just me or was Tomochin sort of, kind of smiling sadly?

“Back then?” Both Miichan and I questioned as she just nodded and started to eat again. “What do you mean by that?” I asked; seriously curious. Just what was she hiding from us? What kind of relationship did she and Takamina-san had?

“Believe it or not, we used to be in a relationship.” She admitted as a small blush crept upon her cheeks.

Miichan and I were speechless; our mouths totally left agape. I couldn’t believe what I just heard a second ago. It was so shocking that none of us spoke as an uncomfortable and awkward silence filled the air. Did she just say that she and Takamina-san used to be in a committed relationship? This was unbelievable. Who knew the school’s girlish fashion queen Itano Tomomi fell for another girl and even dated one? Not that I’m against homosexuality or anything, just really and very shock, and stunned that one of my best friends used to date a girl. But for how long did it last, and since when? Clearly, Miichan and I didn’t notice it in the first place despite us being very close friends.

“What?! Since when?!” We exclaimed; eager to know the answer which earned a couple of stares from our classmates and other students as Tomochin flinched from our loud voices and shushed us while blushing at the same time.

“Well…um… W-we dated for two years since the last year of middle school till our freshmen year in high school.” She answered after a taking a deep breath and stuttered a little at the beginning of her sentence.

How come we didn’t notice it? They were going out for two years and we didn’t notice it? These thoughts were in my mind and somehow, I felt so stupid for not noticing Tomochin’s relationship with Takamina-san; however, I also felt betrayed that my best friend didn’t tell me and Miichan about it. Us three, we shared all kinds of our secrets together—we shared everything.

“Don’t take it the wrong way, it’s just that I couldn’t bring myself to say anything about it to you. Besides, Minami understood that and she didn’t tell anybody as well. I’m sorry for not telling you.” She looked down as if she was disappointed that she didn’t tell us about it or even talked about it. But her apologizing was not that was bothering me the most, it was why her? She could’ve dated some good looking boy in our grade like Kuu for example or even a little older; somewhere from college, like Sae-senpai.

“Why Takamina?” As if reading my thoughts, Miichan asked my mental question that has been lingering in my head.

“She’s actually what every girl wants as their ideal boyfriend.” Tomochin answered in a dreamy kind of way which was really weird in my opinion. She has lost it. “She’s almost the perfect boyfriend.”

“What do you mean perfect? Not that I don’t like her or anything; first of all, she’s a girl; second of all, she’s too short like a freaking dwarf; third, she’s clumsy and finally, she’s so weird in a way.” I said while listing some of the things that weren’t considered as the ‘Perfect Boyfriend’.

“That’s because you’re looking the outer look of Minami.” She said as looked at me and added, “If you knew her very well, I bet you will fall head over heels for her as well.”

“As if!” I replied as I looked away hearing Tomochin chuckled lightly. “What’s so good about her anyway?” I stared back at her as I asked her my curiosity.

“Why don’t you find out yourself?” Tomochin replied, grinning; showing that cute little fang of hers.

“If she’s perfect as you say she was, why did you two broke up?” Miichan asked. That was so true; if she was perfect, I wa sure Tomochin would spend the rest of her life with her. Yet, why would they break up if their relationship was what they wanted?

“The thing is…she’s too mysterious.” She answered, leaving us bewildered. “I love it when she was being mysterious and all; but she was being too secretive as if hiding something from me, from everyone and I didn’t like that.”

“Like another relationship?” Miichan asked in question.

“No. She was always honest and faithful; especially to me. She was hiding something bigger and deeper like she didn’t want anybody to know or find out. I found it really strange.” She answered; a sad smile shown on her lips.

Suddenly, the school bell rang warning us the end of lunch; we finished our food and putted away our lunch-boxes in our bags as my two friends walked back to their seats as another class would begin this afternoon.

---

After school, as usual, my driver picked me up and drove towards my home sweet home. Once arrived, I thanked my driver and entered the mansion; the family maid and butler welcomed me back home as I greeted them back; smiling. I walked towards my room and did my usual after school routine; changing to my casual clothes, doing my homework while eating some snacks our maid gave me. Just the same old same.

Once I finished all of my homework, I turned my computer on making a research of my curiosity. I typed in the school’s website and went to the senior year student list; finally finding the name I was looking for, I clicked on it and saw every bit of information about that student. You probably already know the student I was searching for; Takahashi Minami.

It was said here, she was the school’s student council president but I already knew that, she was also in the girls’ basketball team captain. I didn’t pay attention to the school’s sports team as I was never interested in those kinds of things; now that I read about it here, it was the first time I had heard about her playing in the school basketball team and not to mention team captain also. She was also in the top ten, well number five to be exact in the top grade list of the whole school; she was also smart. She too joined the art club and she was the current president in that club as well. After reading her profile, I couldn’t help but feel amaze; she was amazing. She had a good reputation in this school; the student council president, the team captain of the girls’ basketball team and the president of the art club.

Looking a little further into her profile, it seemed that she had a past relative that used to attend this school eighteen years ago. Could it be her mother or her father? I clicked on the link below; however, nothing seemed to appear on the screen as if everything was erased—every little information. The only thing that appeared on the screen was an old picture of the person. From what I could see, it had to be her father. The person was wearing a boy’s uniform and had short hair; yet, now that I thought about it, Miichan told me that the girls born in that family would technically be raised as a boy. Honestly, I couldn’t tell if that person in the picture was actually a boy or a girl.

Sighing, I turned off my computer and walked towards my sofa, tired as I turned on my television to the evening news finding out what was new going on besides the phantom thief’s return.

“Tonight, the legendary phantom thief will reappear once again tonight at the central church at exactly midnight…”

Immediately, I turned off my TV; just exactly what I needed, another announcement of the great phantom thief. Big deal! I didn’t even think anybody could capture him easily; even after his first steal in years and the museum surrounded by cops and guards all over the place, they couldn’t catch him nor got the chance to. Dark Kai’s skills in theft didn’t seem to be rusty after almost twenty years.

Walking out of my room, I went to my sister’s room and as I entered her room, all I saw was my sister once again on her computer probably doing more research about the legendary thief. Was she doing only that all day non-stop? Don’t tell me she did. Anyway, I just walked in and told her I was going for a night walk to somehow clear my head from all these confusing thoughts and just relax and be free. I asked her if she wanted to join me but she just smiled at me apologetically as she wanted to continue her research of the great phantom thief. Her words not mine.

Walking out of the mansion, I began my refreshing night walk. Just walking aimlessly around, my feet dragging me anywhere they took me. Suddenly, something came down from above and landed right in front of me which scared the hell out of me.

“Oh sorry about that miss.”

That something said as that person turned to me and I was surprise to find the phantom before me once again; once his eyes caught mine, he looked surprise as I was. He seemed to realize something as a golden bird was flying straight at us as if it wanted to attack us. And just like I expected, the bird was charging at us at a full speed as the phantom thief grabbed my head and we ducked before the golden bird hit us both.

“Watch out!”

However, little did I know that the bird was coming back and charge at us again. Nevertheless, the phantom thief seemed to notice the bird coming back at us as he quickly grabbed me and carried me bridal style and jumped high in the air; his black wings carried us in the sky which made me scream. He brought me by his side, one arm holding me by the waist as a hand reached towards his chest and took out a silver winged-shape necklace while I held him unto him tightly not wanting to fall from his hold. He whispered something incoherent that I wasn't able to understand as a really bright light appeared before us. Once the light appeared in front of us, the bird went straight into it and transformed into a kind of golden sculpture.

When that was done, the short young man flew away with me still in his arms. Noticing that he wasn’t bringing me down any time soon, I began to panic as I struggled under his hold which also made him panic and held me tighter.

“Put me down you pervert! Just where are you planning on taking me you kidnapper?!” I yelled as I kept squirming around.

“Hey! I’m not a pervert and would you stop squirming ‘cause I might seriously drop you, unless you have some kind of death wish.” He said as I looked down and held him closer and quite tighter realizing we were really and I meant really high in the sky. “Just exactly what I thought; don’t worry, I’m just taking you home. If you don’t like it, you’ll just have to bear with it for the time being.”

Discreetly and carefully, I examined his face and realized how handsome and cool he looked up close; his cool blue eyes glittering as the moonlight shined upon them. Acknowledging that we were currently in the breezy sky, it actually felt really amazing and exhilarating at the same time up here; to fly, it gave a beautiful view of the entire city lights and it also gave an imaginable feeling of thrills.

Without even noticing it, I felt my heart skip a beat when feeling the boy’s warm body and the serious look he had on his face.

Suddenly, I felt him slowly stopping and gently landed on the ground; he gently placed my body down and said,

“A girl shouldn’t be walking at this hour, especially alone; be careful next time.”

“Thank you.” I thanked him shyly without looking at him.

With that said he gave me one last look and genuinely smiled at me as he flew away once again into the dark starry sky.

You said this fic was from the anime right??

I know that anime, I just can't remember the name...

If my hunch seems right, that Dark Kai portrays in anime as Dark, the black angel knows to steal important ancient relics right??

If that's right, the I know there is white angel, which is short her enemy...

Waiting for your next update :) :) :)

@cisda82: You say that Atsuko is attracted to both Minami and Kai, since it seems to be like that or something. :) Yeah, Minami and Kai are in the same body; now all that's left is to find out how they transform, that will be revealed in the future chapter. Yuko is pretty adamant of finding out who he really is and where did he usually come from  :P. Next chapter will take a while :nervous, I hope you can still be patient a little more and still look forward to it :). Thank you very much for reading and leaving a comment XD.

@Chichay12: I would never abandon something I just started; no matter what, I would always try my best to complete every chapter I had planned; it just needs some proper time that's all. :) I will always be back with an update, but in this case not much of an update at the very moment :nervous. Thank you so much for reading and commenting. XD

@Minamiyuki: Yes, this story is based on an anime name D.N.Angel. And yeah, Kai plays as dark; about the enemy, I have something in mind for it to appear in my story. Thank you for taking the time to read and leave a comment XD. Please still look forward to the next update :) XD.

@Yuseichaaan48: Is it interesting? I'm happy you found it interesting. The anime is called D.N.Angel; my story is only based on it, I'll make it different somehow. Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@chemicalstar: Thank you for finding this fanfic interesting and thank you for reading and leaving a comment. XD

@chiqinna: Yes~ It's a phantom thief fanfiction. I'll try my best to update as soon as I can; please still be patient. :) Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@Archer1992: I'm very glad to get your attention . You're welcome and thank you for reading and leaving a comment. XD

@noah minami: Thank you for taking interest, for reading and leaving a comment. XD

@Feat: Thank you for finding it interesting. Yes, Yuko is trying to find the phantom thief's real identity, and Atsuko is really finding out why was she thinking about Minami after the kiss between her and Kai.  Thank you for taking the time to read and leave a comment XD.

@Korizoro: Well, everyone suspects Takamina being the phantom thief so...I actually don't even know the answer  I'm just playing. I guess, it's pretty much obvious; don't you think? The story is about D.N.Angel, but as I've said in the beginning it's only on it; not completely or maybe . Thank you for reading and commenting. XD

@karenchan: Thank you for finding the plot interesting. I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I can't make an update regularly; especially if I had to update every two weeks :(. With you saying that, it just adds more pressure and stress to my already stressful life :(. Don't get me wrong, I would really love to make an update every two weeks but life and reality are two ginormous boulders in my way to actually make it happen :(. So thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@Keisthename: You're not the only one demanding an update at the moment , I'm just currently very busy right now; however, I can assure you, an update will soon come; I just don't know when yet. I hope you can still be patient until then. :nervous Yeah, it will be like D.N.Angel, but different in some ways. :) Please still look forward to the next chapter. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment XD.

(A/N): I apologize if I haven't updating anything lately :(  and I apologize for forgetting to make an announcement before; reality and life has been a huge ITCH with a capital B what with the midterm exams and bunches of school work I have yet to complete before my submissions :banghead: :banghead:. You can also blame me for being a lazy bum and preferred relaxing during my break rather than pressuring myself by writing some more short stories and currently ongoing fanfic. :P :nervous. I should really scold myself for that. But can you really blame me? I sincerely want to write to please my readers; yet, life is being unfair right now and I'm already pressured and stressed with all the work I had to do. Please understand and I promise to write once winter break starts and post them as soon I have completed them. Please be patient a little more before the time comes. Thank you very much for understanding.

Yours truly, your pal, Haru_Jei-kun. :)

Chapter 2 – Suspicion

After my little encounter with the phantom, I entered the mansion called home and was greeted once again by the family butler and maids. Greeting them back, I walked straight to my sister’s room; though once I did entered her room, it seemed to be a bit different comparatively to the last time I went in not really long ago. The only thing that didn’t seem different was the sight of my sister; staring intently at her computer screen, which I was also welcome with, as her fingers typed furiously on her keyboard. Her desk was filled with books, from big to small, and papers scattered all over it. I then took notice of the wall right next to her desk covered with papers taped to it; showing printed pictures and writings.

“Oh. You’re back.” She said; taking notice of my presence in her room. “Shouldn’t you be in bed? It’s already past midnight.” She playfully asked; spinning her chair towards me as she stretched her arms.

“Right back at’cha.” I replied; rolling my eyes at her. She should also be sleeping at this hour; examining her room, I could tell she was working whatever she was doing from this morning until now. I should probably be the one saying that to her. Walking towards her, I stared at her wall masked with a bunch of papers as I said, in a somewhat scolding matter; pointing my thumb at her wall. “I was only out for about half an hour or so, and all of a sudden, your room is a complete mess. You did all this while I was gone?”

She shook her head left and right as she opened her mouth to answer and explain. “Nah. I did these in the library; I was just arranging the stuff I found in order while you were gone.” I bet you she skipped school to do all this research. Not like the college care or anything.

Staring back at the wall, I went to it and leaned forward; taking a closer look at the writings and at the printed paintings and pictures; they were all just about Dark Kai.

“Are these just all about Kai-san?” I asked her the most obvious question; of course, they were all about him. However, just staring at her half covered wall and her desk filled with opened books and papers made me think otherwise a little. How could all of these information were just about Dark Kai? There were at least dozens even hundreds of different information on her wall. Literally!

“Well, these are all I found so far; there are much more I haven’t found yet.” She answered with a hand behind her head; staring at her desk while laughing sheepishly and added, “I’m just doing a background check.”

There are more?! Just what the hell is this guy? Since everybody knew little or not at all of whom he was, I thought they would have little information of him. I was pretty sure all these info were just events of every thievery and what kind of artifacts he stole back in those days until present days.

“Though, I did discover something interesting about the legendary phantom thief.” She announced as she looked at me; smiling widely.

Curious, I stood quietly on my spot, silently urging her to continue and explain every detail she had discovered; wanting to know more about the mysterious blond boy. Standing up from her rolling chair, she walked towards me with a book in her hand; flipping it to a certain page and gave it to me, only to find a picture of a painting, from what I can see was a body with black wings and the figure’s face purposely blurred. Was this unknown being supposed to be Kai-san?

“Did you know Dark Kai’s very first appearance was in the early years of the 15th century?” She asked; her arms crossed over her chest.

“How do you know that and how can you be so sure?” My head turning to face her, I asked as she grinned while pointing at the corner of the page and told me, “Check the date of the painting.”

Looking closely at the printed artwork in the book, there was a date of when the painting was made cited at the bottom right corner of the page; I read the small writing out loud and my eyes were like saucers as I spun towards my sister, who had a grin on her lips only to grow wider when our eyes made contact.

“This painting was called the Dark Angel where the artist himself has actually seen a young man with black angel wings in a distance, which we can all assume was Dark Kai; this piece of art was the very first painting about his discovery of the phantom thief. Back then, paintings took months even years to complete; which meant that earlier than that said year on that painting was the phantom thief’s very, very first appearance.” She explained concluded; adding, “But, that’s not all; what I’m about to tell you is much more shocking than this one.” She went to her desk; rummaging through the mess and upon finding what she was searching for, she passed me a full page photo of the blond thief, “As you already know, this is a clear picture of Dark Kai from last night's robbery, which is the current phantom thief.” I nodded; urging her to continue further in her explanation as she gave me another photo of the same mysterious blond boy, taken in a full body portrait into the night sky and the face was still clear to see, but the quality was a tad different than the other one.

“Why are you giving me two different pictures of Kai?” I pointed out confusingly; looking at my sister straight into her eyes.

“That’s the thing.” She pointed at the photo I’m holding in my left hand and obviously stated, “This is the current Dark Kai…” She then pointed at my right hand and finally indicated, “…and this is Dark Kai; two decades ago.”

“What!” I exclaimed; knowing very well my eyes looked like an owl’s.

“And that’s not all; I kinda made a photocopy of a picture in one of grandpa’s old case files without dad’s permission, and…” She showed me another photo; it was in black and white and a bit blurry, but there was no mistake, it was another Kai. “This is Dark Kai before the last one.” She added pointing the picture in my right hand.

Now, I was completely and utterly speechless. Looking at the pictures again and again and again; all three Dark Kai in the photos were definitely and exactly identical to one another. Just what did it mean? Were all three Dark Kai the same person or were they duplicates?

“The phantom thief could be either immortal or the current Kai-san could be one of the original Dark Kai’s descendants; but, I highly doubt on the first since it’s very impossible and the latter is a very small chance of being true.” She said as she sat back down on her chair again; looking up at me. “Despite the thought of the latter was most unlikely; however, every time I stare at those pictures, they reminded me of someone; someone I met, but I just couldn’t put my finger on it, so I asked a good friend of mine to make a facial scan for me and four came very positive.”

“Four out of millions of people in this country? How would you know where they are?” I questioned as I approached her; standing right in front of her while giving back the pictures.

“I already know who it is; which was really surprising since I’ve just met that person today and three out of the four are actually related. Fortunately, one was too old to be the current Dark Kai and two are currently overseas which leaves us one person left who is still currently living in the city.” She took out one last photo in her bag and slapped it on her desk. Staring at the picture, I was stunned once again; but that’s…

“Takahashi Minami.”

---

That couldn’t be. Sure, I did suspected her since the night before; but, it didn’t made sense at all. She’s a girl after all. However, saying that made me think otherwise after what Yuko-nee told me.

“Who knows, she could disguise herself as a boy to take the phantom thief, Dark Kai’s place during the night.”

Heaving a deep sigh, I spun my body in my bed; facing the windows as I looked at the curtains where the moonlight could be seen through it. My eyes drew towards the entrance of my balcony as a flashback of how I first saw Kai in person appeared before my eyes. Thinking about it too much made me tired as I unconsciously fell asleep.

*~*~*~*~*~*

I was now in my classroom, sitting at my desk as I lay my head in my crossed arms on my desk; trying to get a little more sleep before class would start. Maybe it was a terrible idea to stay up really late and chat with my sister for overly an hour about her research and discovery about the young blond man, rather than taking my full beauty sleep and rest my body. I had at least five hours or less of sleep which wasn’t enough, especially for me; at the moment, I was clearly exhausted and a bit cranky. While sleeping uncomfortably on my desk, I heard footsteps behind me; walking towards me.

“Are you okay Acchan? You seem more tired than yesterday.” I heard Tomochin asking; worry evident in her voice.

“Yeah, did something happen?” Miichan added; taking a seat at Takamina-san’s desk, facing me.

“Well, I was just chatting with Yuko-nee and lost track of time and ended up sleeping quite late.” I answered; looking up from my crossed arms.

After that little chat with my friends, I resumed sleeping; make that, trying to resume sleeping as Tomochin and Miichan talked to each other near my desk; leaving me be. Seconds later, I heard the door of the classroom slid open and for some reason, my head shot up to look at its direction like it wanted me to look over the door and there, passing by that door was Takamina-san appearing in class as she approached her desk; formally greeting us.

Shaking my sleep and exhaustion away, I looked at her curiously. Honestly, I think she couldn’t be the phantom thief; she just couldn’t. Kai-san and Takamina-san are two different people; I couldn’t imagine Takamina-san to act like Kai-san at all.

“What the…!” Takamina-san suddenly said; staring inside her bag as if she saw the most scariest thing in her life.

“What’s the matter Minami?” Tomochin asked as she approached the small girl who quickly closed her bag and holding it protectively in her arms; taking a step back, cautiously.

“Oh. It’s nothing.” She nervously laughed which looked really suspicious.

“You must love your bag so much to be holding it like that.” I commented; standing up from my seat and taking a few steps closer to her as well as she fidgeted on her spot; grinning sheepishly

“Oh this? I-it’s nothing, really.”

Suddenly, without even thinking, I grabbed a hold of her arm; surprising her as I dragged her out of the class, earning a couple of curious glances from the other students as I walked down the hallway while holding Takamina-san’s arm.

“Eh? A-Atsuko-san?” I heard her calling my name confusingly and asked, “Where are you taking me?”

“I just need to make sure of something.”

Arriving at the girl’s restroom, we entered in a cubicle as I slightly pushed her to the wall; shocking her from my sudden action. I quickly locked the door and spun towards her; leaning over to stare at her closely, our faces a few inches apart. Truthfully, I could thoroughly see the resemblance of Kai-san’s face in Takamina-san’s; the only difference was their hair colour and the colour of their eyes. Despite the resemblance, they were also somehow very different at the same time; the feel of their personality were very off.

Looking deeply into the girl’s dark brown eyes, they definitely have a different feel to Kai-san’s sharp blue ones; hers looked very innocent and childish while Dark Kai’s looked so mysterious and mature, their auras were opposite to the other. My eyes soon glanced down to land on her lips and all of a sudden, after staring for a few seconds, I had a quick flashback of my first kiss with the young blond boy as I remembered the feel of his soft lips on mine; a sudden heat went rushing to my head and I squeaked at the memory making Takamina-san flinched slightly.

“Atsuko-san, are you alright? You’re all red. Are you coming down with a fever?” She asked worriedly, her head slightly tilted to the side looking all cute; like a cute little boy asking if his friend’s was hurt.

Internally shaking the images off my head , I averted my gaze away from the girl’s worried one and quickly unlocked the cubicle and walked out without answering her question and without looking back while ignoring her calls.

---

Class started after that somewhat embarrassing scene in front of Takamina-san, and during class, I was more concentrated to the girl seated in front of me, who kept staring at her bag strangely, than the lecture the teacher was teaching. Somehow, every five to ten seconds, she kept glancing at her bag which seemed to be really weird and very suspicious.

Two whole class periods has been like that; me intently staring at Takamina-san’s back as she glanced worriedly at her bag every now and then.

The bell rang; signalling the end of class and the beginning of lunch and as usual, Tomochin and Miichan grabbed a chair nearby and sat by my desk as they opened their lunchboxes and began eating the goods in it. We talked about numerous things until I saw Takamina-san shyly heading towards our way with her bag in hand. Weird much.

“Um…Tomochin, do you have a bit of money for me; so I can buy lunch in the cafeteria?” Takamina-san asked shyly; facing my best friend on my right.

“Why? Doesn’t you’re mom always prepare you lunch or did you forget to bring it? That’s unlikely of you, you know.” Tomochin asked as she went through her bag; handing her ex-girlfriend a thousand yen bill.

“Thanks; I’ll pay you back tomorrow. Yes, my mom still prepares me lunch and no, I didn’t forget it.” She replied; thanking Tomochin for the small amount of cash and added while presenting her bag in front of us; heaving a depressing sigh, “She ate my lunch.”

“Your bag ate your lunch?” My brows creased to a frown at her odd excuse.

“No.” She answered me as she opened her bag and something came out of it; a small furry head peaked out of bag and cutely meowed. “Nyaachan did; she probably snuck into my bag while I was eating breakfast this morning and ate my katsudon during our classes.”

Tomochin squealed as quietly as possible as she discreetly took the kitten in her arms and the kitty happily purred in my best friend’s embrace. Takamina-san politely asked the three of us to watch over the cute little kitty as she went down the cafeteria to buy her lunch. When she came back, she came back with a couple of wrapped breads and a small carton of milk in her arms; she gave the rest of the change back to Tomochin as she took her chair and turned it around to face me. Takamina-san began eating her food as her little kitty noticed its master with more food in hand and jumped off of Tomochin’s arms to join the shorter girl; positioning itself on her lap as her little paws and head rested on my desk, eyeing at Takamina-san’s lunch.

“Damn you little glutton.” Takamina-san playfully growled under her breath as she ripped a piece of her bread and fed it to her cat that ate the piece very happily.

“You know, the last time I saw Nyaachan, she still has the same size as now. Doesn’t she grow?” Tomochin asked; resuming eating her lunch as Takamina-san nodded while drinking her carton of milk.

“Was that the reason why you’ve been staring at your bag every damn time in class?” I questioned which caused her to widen her eyes.

“H-how did you know?” She asked; stuttering and stunned.

“You’re sitting in front of me; of course I would notice that.” I simply answered. It was sort of obvious with the way she kept staring at her bag anxiously every damn time.

"It was that obvious huh. I was just afraid that Nyaachan might jump out of my bag and would just cause trouble for me and it would be hard to explain the teacher why I had my pet in my bag." Takamina-san glanced at the small cat; smiling affectionately at it.

After half an hour, lunch ended and a new period of class started.

---

When class finally ended for the day, it was mine and Takamina-san’s turn to clean the classroom; she was sweeping the floor as I cleaned the blackboard and wrote afterwards the necessary things for next class while the little kitty was lying comfortably on Takamina-san’s desk; sleeping soundly.

“Your cat is very cute Takamina-san.” Awkwardly opening a conversation with the other girl, I turned to her; watching her picking up the dirt on the floor with the dustpan and threw it in the trashcan.

“There is no need for formalities; we’re classmates aren’t we? Takamina or Minami is fine.” She said; smiling and answered, "She is, isn't she?" I nodded in response.

“Then, you can also call me Atsuko or Acchan.” I told her as she nodded happily. “Um…Takamina, is it true that you use to go out with Tomochin since the end of middle school till freshmen year of high school?” I asked curiously. I know the question was kind of stupid especially when I already knew the answer; I just wanted to make sure for that fact.

“Tomochin told you guys, didn’t she?” I nodded at her question as she placed the broom and the dustpan away in the storage closet; turning to face me. “To answer your question, yes we did; but that’s long history now. We’re just friends; nothing more, nothing less.”

Nodding at her answer, I soon changed the topic after a few seconds of silence.

“Say, do you know the legendary phantom thief; Dark Kai?” Asking her curiously, I examined every movement and every reaction she made; so far, not a single reaction or any weird movement appeared when I asked a simple question.

“Not really; all I know was what the people talked about in media.” She answered easily without any suspicion.

“If you were him, hypothetically, why would he steal famous artworks?” I asked; wanting to know that if she really was the phantom thief, why she would steal pieces of art. Was it to just take part of her collection or sell it somewhere at a huge price.

“Hmm…That’s a tough question; honestly, I have no clue why he would do that but I’m pretty sure he has his reasons to.”

*~*~*~*~*~*

My sister came to pick me up instead of my driver after my cleaning duties; she told me we would stop by the library just to return the books she borrowed the day before. When we arrived at the library, she asked for my help to carry the books and when I saw the pile in her trunk, I swore I felt a sweat drop dripping on my temple; they were at least many dozens of books in the trunk of her car.

After at least forty-five minutes of carrying books back and forth to the library, my sister and I went at a café nearby; treating me to tasty sweets for helping. Can’t let those treats go to waste. And how can I say no and resist them especially when I’m not the one paying for them.

“So…” I suddenly heard my sister said as I looked up from my piece of cake. “…did you check upon Takahashi?” She asked.

“I did investigate a little; but I seriously think you’ve got the wrong person.” I answered; drinking my cup of tea to clear my throat.

“What makes you say that?” She frowned as she leaned forward; urging me to continue further into details.

“They have different personalities and the vibe of their auras is completely unlike to one another like they’re two different people; maybe their resemblance was just a coincidence.” I finished my cake as the waitress took our empty plates and cups; placing the bill on the table.

“You sound like you’ve already met the phantom thief.” She commented; paying for our food and left the café; slowly heading towards her parked car.

“What are you talking about? Obviously, I never met the guy; I just assumed it was by looking at his eyes in the picture you showed me last night.” I lied; reasoning.

“Plus, how can it be a coincidence? Three people of the same family have the same face of the legendary phantom thief; the current one could be Takahashi Minami; the last Dark Kai could be a man that could possibly by her father, and the Dark Kai before the last one could be the older man which could also possibly be her grandfather.” She reasoned which still made me doubt that Takamina was the mysterious thief. The way she talked about the phantom thief in our conversation during our cleaning duties, was most definitely not a lie.

Stopping by my sister’s car, she was about to fish out her keys and unlock the door, when suddenly, something or someone trapped us in a very tight hold as they covered our noses and mouths with a handkerchief. I struggled under the tight grip but, I smelled something funny on the thin clothe and then all of a sudden, everything turned very dark and went blank.

*~*~*~*~*~*

On the cold tiled floor, my eyes slowly opened and blinked; adjusting to the darkness. Sitting up, my head felt quite heavy as I realized my hands and feet were tied up by a thick rope; I looked around, trying to find my sister. I sighed in relief when I saw she was just lying on the floor also tied up by her hands and feet, still unconscious.

Examining my surroundings, we were inside a large empty room; the floor was dirty and the walls were painted with numerous of graffiti. We were probably in a warehouse or in an abandon building. Hearing grunts by my side, I dragged myself; approaching my sister as she also woke up. Groaning slightly in pain, my sister slowly sat up as I helped her up.

“What happen?” She grunted as she looked around. “And where are we?”

“I don’t know.” I replied as I stuck myself to her, afraid.

Suddenly, sounds of footsteps were heard; step by step, approaching at our direction. The door opened and four men appeared with a smirk on each of their faces. I went behind my sister like she told me to; starting to feel more afraid than when I woke up a few minutes ago. What do you want from us; why did they kidnap us?

Two men came at my direction while the two other men went to my sister's; separating us as they untied the rope from our feet, pulling us up to stand and went out of the room. Walking down the stairs, I found another man standing there alone seeming to be expecting and waiting for us. The man was probably the boss and I feared of what would happen to me and my sister.

“Well, well; looks like you girls are finally awake.” The man said; turning to us as an evil grin was plastered on his face.

“What do you want?” My sister growled; trying to push away the men holding her as the mastermind of our kidnapping laughed.

“Ooh, feisty; I like that. Don’t have to be hasty; we just want to play…” He walked up to my sister; cupping her chin in his hand. “…with your bodies.” My sister tried to remove his grip on her chin but the man had a tight grip on it as he ordered his followers, “Boys, you can take the tall one; I’ll take care of this one.”

The man took hold of my sister’s body as the two men who were holding my sister walked up to me; joining their two other friends as they harshly pushed me to a dirty mattress.

“Don’t you dare touch her; ‘cause I swear to God, I will fucking kill you!” My sister exclaimed; struggling under the man grip, seeing the four men hovering above me as they ripped my uniform open and touched my body in inappropriate places which made me cry and squirm, trying to get away from their filthy hands.

Two men were touching my breast; kissing my neck as the two others were licking my legs, hands going up my skirt, groping on my thighs. I cried louder; tears falling from my eyes, trickling down my cheeks as I tried as best as I could to fight them off and move away from these perverted men. However, with my hands and legs tied up tightly, there was no chance I could escape from them; there was nothing I could do.

“Oh. Don’t be like that; I promised she would feel good and enjoy the pleasure afterwards, just watch and enjoy the show.” I heard the boss laughing maniacally as I suddenly heard a light thud and someone running towards my way; seeing my sister pushing the men away from me.

“Why you little bitch!” One of the men yelled as one of them held her from behind while the other took out a knife and stabbed the side of my sister’s stomach.

“YUKO-NEE!!!” I screamed; witnessing my sister being stabbed before my eyes as I immediately went to her side, pushing the men away from her while putting pressure on her wound, trying to stop the bleeding but it didn’t seem to be stopping any time soon which caused me to panic.

The boss punched the man who stabbed my sister and yelled at him while kicking him continuously until the man stopped moving. “Now how am I supposed to have my fun with an injured girl?!”

The leader of the group walked angrily towards our way as he separated me from my sister which made me scream for her. The boss looked at me mischievously and began to undo my undergarments; I struggled under his hold, making it hard for him to remove them as the last three men joined him to help.

“I’ll just have my fun with you instead.”

DON’T TOUCH HER!!!” My sister screamed from the top of her lungs.

Suddenly, the men including the leader were pushed away from me; opening my eyes, I looked at my surroundings and saw the men were a couple feet away as they struggled to stand up. Looking up, I found the phantom thief standing behind me seeming very angry. He removed his jacket and placed it over my shoulders as he also removed the rope from my wrist. When seeing the red rings around my wrist, I began to rubbed them; massaging the slight pain away.

“Who are you?!” The leader asked angrily; earning nothing but silence as an answer, he growled as her commanded his last three men, “What are you guys doing? Attack him!”

Kai-san told me to stay put as all three men grabbed metal bars and pipes from the floor and begun to charge at the blond boy. The boy dodged every attack the men swung with their weapons as one of them attacked from the side and Kai-san caught the pipes in his hand without any effort as he elbowed the man on his chest and twisted his body; delivering a kick on the head, making the man fall and fainted from the hit. The two left charged at the same time as the boy ran to them; jumping into the air and kicked both their heads, falling down with a loud thud. They groaned in pain as Kai-san punched their faces hard making them unconscious.

The boss laughed and clapped his hands in amusement as he commented, “You brought my men down so easily without sweating a single drop of sweat; I’m very impress.”

Kai-san just stood silent which angered the man even more.

“I’m complimenting you and you just…” And just like the speed of light, the man was already down with Kai-san’s hand on the man’s face like he just pushed the man’s head; hitting it on the hard cement.

“I do not talk to the likes of you.” I heard the blond boy said; averting his eyes away to find mine as he walked up to my sister; removing the rope from her wrist as he held her in his arms.

Remembering my sister’s injuries, I quickly ran toward them as I watched worriedly at my sister gritting her teeth in pain. Noticing Kai-san was leaning towards her face, I stopped him and exclaimed; trying to take my sister away from his hold as I cried, fearing for her life.

“What do you think you’re doing?!”

“Don’t worry; I’m just going to heal her. Trust me okay?” He said sincerely; his eyes staring into my mine, trying to sooth them.

Stopping my attempts to take my sister from the blond boy’s arms, I nodded my head in response; knowing that I could trust him completely. With that, the boy came face to face with my sister again; watching him leaning down. My eyes were like saucers as I watched Kai-san pressed his lips upon my sister. A really bright light appeared on my sister’s still bleeding wound; the light slowly getting smaller and smaller until it disappeared.

I let out a sigh of relief as my sister’s eyes opened, though she flinched when she came face to face with the phantom thief and a blush appeared on her face; she moved away from Kai-san’s embrace as it was his turn to wince in pain, holding the side of his stomach. It was then we realized he was beginning to  bleed.

“You’re bleeding! Did you get stabbed by one of those guys too?!” I asked worriedly; going by his side.

“No; I transferred your sister’s wound to my body which was how she was healed in the first place.” He said as he tore a part of his shirt and tying it around the newly made wound on his side. “Come on; I’ll take you girls home.”

“You sure haven’t change at all.” Suddenly, a voice was heard from above as we all looked up at a large window and a figure was seen who seemed to be a bit familiar. “Why don’t you just finish them off?”

“You! You planned this didn’t you?!” Kai-san replied angrily; his eyes wide in shocked as the unknown person chuckled at his accusation. I assume this unknown person and Kai-san know each other.

“Now why would I do that?” The figure said as they giggled which seemed to piss the blond boy more. “We’ll meet again, Dark Kai.”

The mysterious figure fell from the window; surprising me, but suddenly, we saw something flying and disappeared. Was that another angel look-alike like Kai?

Kai-san calmed himself down as he told us to follow him outside. Outside, a black panther cub with big angel wings seemed to be waiting for us; Kai-san gently grabbed a hold of our waist as he commanded us to hold on tight while the little panther disappeared into the air and landed on the boy’s back, sinking in and became his black wings.

The blond boy flew off into the already dark sky with us in his arms; my sister kept staring at him in amazement. Arriving at home, Dark Kai landed smoothly on the ground and gently set us down.

“Thanks for saving our lives; we will be in your debt.” Yuko-nee thanked the blond boy as he shook his head; replying, “No need to repay me.”

All of a sudden, we all heard an angry voice behind us as we turned towards the source of the angry voice and found my father; shooting daggers, obviously at the blond boy beside me and my sister.

“What are you doing here Kai? And why are you with my daughters?!” He growled protectively; grabbing both my arm and my sister’s, bringing us behind him.

“Dad it’s not like that!” My sister and I stepped up removing our father’s grip on our arms as our father spoke back, “I’m talking to him not you!”

“I just save their lives from being raped by kidnappers.” Kai suddenly said; shocking my father as he stared at us and noticed my ripped uniform while I covered myself with Kai-san’s jacket. That got him speechless. “Instead of focusing on just capturing me, why don’t you do your job as the protector of this city? If it weren’t for me, who knows what would happen to both of your daughters.”

The phantom thief quickly flew away after saying that to my father.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Another day at school, and I was tired again as I chatted with my two best friends. Thank God I had an extra set of my uniform and I was very thankful I was still alive today. Last night’s experience was very frightening and terrifying; obviously, I don’t want anything like that would happen to me again.

My sister was also alright as she left home early; going to her car were she left it by the café.

Hearing the door slid open, I saw Takamina entering the classroom; looking very tired as well. All of a sudden, like yesterday, I grabbed her arm and dragged her to the girl’s restroom as my two best friends called for me. Locking the cubicle, I stared at Takamina who got really nervous and confuse; unlike yesterday, I slightly lifted her shirt to see if she had the wound Dark Kai had last night, however, there was no injury on her stomach, not even a single scar.

“Acchan, what are you doing?” She asked; removing my hold on her shirt as she brought her shirt back down.

“It’s nothing.” I replied; internally sighing in relief and walked away.

To be continued

Hey Kid! Looks like I didn't comment on this one yet.

Interesting story man! XD I didn't get to watch the anime, since it's really not my type; but I will try to watch it just to get the idea of it since everyone in here seems to know what you're talking about. :P

Anyway, this chapter is quite longer than the last two; however, it was really good, made me want to know what's going to happen next.

I sure also want to know about TakaTomo as well, I'm really curious about their past relationship. :P And do I sense a love triangle as well? What with Kai saving Atsuko and Yuko's lives and healing Yuko from her possible death of blood loss; I get the feeling that Yuko will fall in love the Kai.

School's almost finish and winter break is nearing, so I'm looking forward to the next one pretty soon. XD

Peace out lil' bro. :P
Title: Re: [AtsuMina] How You Stole My Heart [WILL UPDATE VERY SOON!!!]

@TakaminaBG: I'm glad you find it really interesting, I really appreciate it XD. About Takamina being Kai, you will know more about it in the process of the story; and the healing kiss, I think you can figure that out yourself; if you can't figure it out, just use your imagination. The past of TakaTomo will be reveal bit by bit in future chapter and last but not least, about Yuko and Atsuko falling in love with Kai, I think it is best if you read future chapters. I'm sorry if I sound sort of mean that way, but it is always better to read than to ask . Thank you for reading and commenting XD

@mikaellitsa: Thank you for finding it interesting :). Takamina is mysterious isn't she? Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@Kirozoro: The mysterious person will be revealed in a couple of chapter. I gave a few hints in the next chapter, so I will give a guess. Thank you so much for reading and taking the time to comment. XD

@cisda83: Yuko is smart just like in real life. The other mysterious figure will be revealed in the next couple of chapters, maybe a little earlier; you knows, we'll find out in the process of the story. You think Yuko might have a crush on Kai? We'll see about that :P. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment. XD

@Sydney W: You're very welcome and thank you XD. About the other mysterious angel, you'll have to find out like everybody else. Just keep guessing until the name of that person is revealed. Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@Feat: Thank you, I'm glad to hear that and you're very welcome as well :) XD. Yeah, thankfully Kai saved the sisters right? Keep guessing the mysterious person in your mind or whatever until it will be said in one of the chapters. Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@karenchan: Is it that mysterious? I'm happy to hear you love it! XD Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@RJay: Come on! Seriously?! Thanks man :). Never thought I'd hear that from you; I feel like I'm being praise by my aniki . It is getting longer right? I feel like every time I write a chapter of something, it keeps getting longer and longer. I think I will have to cut the chapters in parts :(. No one is forcing you to watch it, but just to get a little of an idea, it is better to watch it. It's not my kind of anime either, but I found it really interesting...so yeah... :P. Love triangle? We'll see about that. Who knows what will happen right? Thanks again bro! XD

(A/N): I'M SO SORRY FOR BEING LATE!!!   School has been taking most of my time that I didn't get a chance to write and post something for my readers and silent readers out there. My homeworks kept pilling up one after the other that I didn't have time for myself to relax a little , and I just finished my mid-term exams. Anyway, I'm in my spring break now and I finally got to rest and to relax, and I started writing again! YAY!. Well, I feel that this chapter was getting really long(almost reaching 10k words--at least) that I had to cut it into parts(I hope you don't mind). So enjoy the next chapter XD.

Chapter 3 – Long Lost Lover pt.1

Many weeks has passed since that horrifying night and since then, after Kai-san brought me and my sister home, telling my father that we were kidnapped; my father—the Chief Commander—had hired two professional bodyguards for our protection. I didn't mind my bodyguard guarding and protecting me all the time, but I had to say, constantly being watched really bothered me a lot. I didn't like them following me all the time, and my friends had been wondering what the deal with the bodyguard was. As a matter of fact, my personal bodyguard followed me everywhere I went; to school, going shopping and hanging out with my friends, staying outside my room; this just bugged me a whole lot and it felt like I needed more personal space and privacy.

Anyway, since then, Kai-san's popularity have reached sky high. My father had been bringing more and more men into every event of the robbery to guard better the targeted objects. Unfortunately for him, Kai-san would always find a way to slip right under his nose, escaping without showing much or any effort at all. However, these past couple of days, he hadn't made an appearance; not even once. And during those past few days, the media had gone restless, and all wondered what would his next target may be; they even tried to find out where was his whereabouts. Even the twins—Miichan and Kuu—had been quite frustrated since they got nothing new to write about in the school's newspaper club, and since articles of Dark Kai seemed to be the hottest topic in school—especially for the girls—the school's newspaper were sold out every time something new came out to obviously check out the news about the phantom thief.

Maybe, just maybe, he was just in a break or something; even supernatural beings, or whatever he was, would need his rest. It was either that, or there was nothing new nor anything special to steal in the city and he was just waiting for new artworks to find and arrive in different museums or in other places. Somehow, I was betting on the latter.

Though, I really had been wondering, that night, who was the other person that suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Remembering the sound of their voices, I could possibly tell that unknown figure was a boy, and somehow, it sounded suspiciously like Kai-san's voice. There was no doubt they knew each other, with the way they interacted together, they obviously knew each other. I did ask myself what kind of connection those two had. Were they friends or were they enemies? I bet on the latter. But who knew, they must've been friends in the beginning and something must've happen between them to become enemies.

---

Homeroom started once the school bell rang for the beginning of class. My homeroom teacher entered the classroom and passed a stack of papers on every row in the class for every student to have a sheet of paper. In the sheet of paper, it was written that the art teacher in our year had planned us all third years in the school a small field trip to an art exhibition in a popular art museum on Monday. It also said that it would help us get a little inspiration for the upcoming project the teacher prepared for us this semester; to finalize our marks for this term.

My homeroom teacher explained all the basic steps we had to do to go to the trip like show the paper to our parents and get it signed, and bringing it back to her before the specified date of the field trip.

Not long after the teacher's explanations of the important details of the small trip, she announced the end of homeroom and told us to do some self-study until next class would start before leaving the classroom. Like most of the time, some actually took the time to study while others didn't and gathered around their own group to chat. Miichan and Tomochin joined as well as Takamina and Kuu. If you were wondering, Takamina became a part of our group after we befriended each other couple of weeks ago, and just like Yuko-nee said, she was quite interesting despite the lame jokes she gave and clumsy actions she did, she was still interesting in her own adorable and dorky way. We became really close as well.

"Ah~ Where the hell would the phantom thief be? It's been overly a week since he hadn't shown himself, even more. Not even a single clue of his whereabouts nor a single notice of him." Miichan complained as she lightly banged her head on my desk as I patted her head.

"Tell me about it; it's been really boring too. Usually, he appears twice or thrice a week, sometimes even more. What are we supposed to write for the next school's newspaper? The phantom thief became the most popular and hottest topic since he appeared in the first place." Kuu also whined as he mimicked his younger twin beside him while Takamina did the same action as me, patting her best friend's head softly.

"I'm mostly certain he would come around by next week for another appearance." Tomochin said as the twins lift their heads at the same time, both frowning at her.

"What makes you so sure about that?" They both said in unison which mentally made me giggled at them. Most of the time, these things normally happened in animes and dramas, but seeing it live was quite funny; twins in synch.

"Weren't you listening in homeroom? This upcoming Monday, we're going on a field trip to an art museum for an art exposition, and you do realize that that means new artworks in the museum of art. Which concludes, if he finds something to his liking or anything interesting in particular, he would most likely to steal it without any doubt with an audience." Tomochin answered, explaining her argument.

"When you say it like that, it actually makes sense. Now I'm seriously looking forward for next week, and I can't wait to finally have my story." Miichan said excitedly, feeling all fired up as he eyes lit up with expectation.

"And I really can't wait to ready my camera and get amazing pictures, maybe even better, videos." Kuu added, also feeling the same as his sister.

"You guys won't get any of that until next week. So what do you think about the trip though?" I asked, wanting to know their opinions, thought my expectations to the twins’ opinions were quite low since I already knew they were not really interested in those kinds of things, but I was more curious about what Takamina and Tomochin would think about this.

"Not really excited about it, but at least, we won't have to do any school work during that day." Kuu answered honestly as he leaned back on his chair with his hands connected together behind his head.

"Yeah, looking at paintings and sculptures are really boring, and visiting a museum is not really our thing." Miichan added as her brother nodded in agreement. I told you, I was right about them twins.

"I'm okay with it, but I'm pretty sure Minami here is more excited than anyone in this class, heck, perhaps more than anyone in our year." Tomochin smiled as I turned to her.

"Of course I would be very excited, why wouldn't I be? My family had had this love for arts for many generations." Takamina explained quite enthusiastically as she grinned proudly; I could've sworn she was glowing after saying that.

"You know, somehow, I keep forgetting you're the president of the art club." Kuu wrapped his arms over his best friend's shoulder, pulling her towards him while pointing accusingly at the girl sitting on my right. "And how did you know that this little pipsqueak would love these kinds of things? If I recall, only I know about her more than anyone in this school."

"Hey! Who you calling a pipsqueak?!" Takamina yelled as she tried to break away from Kuu's hold around her neck, but to her dismay, she failed. "I may be small but I'm not that small!" She added, only to be ignored by the four of us; well, except for me perhaps.

"I think that makes you second, since I know her more than you do." Tomochin replied, emphasizing the 'I' as she placed both her elbows on my desk and rested her chin on her entwined hands, smirking slightly.

"What do you mean? I don't ever see you hanging out with her at all." Kuu retorted, obviously not liking how someone knew his childhood friend more than he did, sort of how like how kids argued about whose father was the strongest. With how Kuu looking too oblivious about the relationship between his best friend and the girl in front of him made me think that no one told him about it and was kept in the dark while the rest of us knew.

"You didn't tell him Miichan?" I asked as she blinked, thinking about it and suddenly, she placed a hand behind her neck, rubbing it while smiling sheepishly.

"Ehehehe...I forgot."

"What didn't you tell me" Asking his sister curiously, he turned to her, frowning; ignoring the cries of his best friend in his tight hold. Seeing Takamina like that made me feel sorry for her and also made me giggle. She was so adorable.

"Don't ignore me!" Takamina shouted as she successfully broke Kuu's hold on her and sat back on her seat only to be grabbed once again by none of other than Tomochin.

My fanged friend grabbed my smaller friend's arm and pulled her towards her, clinging onto her. Without giving a small girl a second to react, she placed a chaste kiss upon her cheek. The innocent kiss on the cheek left the only boy in our group wide eye and mouth slightly agape, seemingly to look shock and bewildered at the same time. Takamina didn't seem to mind as she just placed her hand on the cheek where her past lover landed a kiss on and quietly sat back on her chair, mumbling incoherent words.

"We were lovers." Tomochin confessed for the two of them as Kuu's jaw dropped to the floor and his eyes bulging out of his sockets.

"Lovers?! You guys are dating?!" He exclaimed after recovering from his disturbing shocking state, earning curious glances from our classmates.

"Were. Past tense. We were dating. I don't see the big deal about this." Takamina answered calmly; however, I could see very well her cheeks were slightly pink. How cute; she was embarrassed at the admission. This may not be a big deal to her and Tomochin, but it was a huge deal for us when Tomochin told us about her past relationship with Takamina.

"It is a big deal! Why didn't you tell me?!" Kuu grabbed a hold on the girl's shirt with both his hands and began to shake her violently. With all the yelling and the scene in front of me, it earned everybody's attention in our classroom and all looked very confuse. Honestly, I couldn't blame them.

"We kind of agreed not to tell anyone." She replied, forcefully pulling herself away from her best friend's grip.

"But we're friends since we were children; you're my childhood friend—my best friend! How could you?! I thought we're pals for life man! You're supposed to tell everything to your best friends; that's what friends are for!" And Kuu lost it; he was totally losing his cool now."

---

Once school was finished for the day, I found my father outside the school gate, waiting for me. Ever since Kai-san hadn't shown for the past couple of days, my father had some free-time to arrest some other crooks, and picking me and my sister up from our schools. Since he hadn't been around a lot, days like these could give him the chance to interact with his daughters, and I also missed him around the mansion. Maybe the legendary thief should take more breaks more often.

"Hey sweetheart. How's your day?" My father smiled at me as we hugged tightly while he kissed my forehead.

"Just the usual." I instantly reached into my bag and took the paper for the field trip and gave it to him.

"Oh! You're having a trip next week. That sounds exciting. I'll sign it once we get home." He folded the paper into four and placed it in his suit pocket as he opened the passenger seats door for me to enter the car. I saw my father nodding at my personal bodyguard, most likely telling him he did a good job and excused him to go to his own home. When my father was home like these past couple of days, our bodyguards would just stay at their own homes and rest, but when he would stay overtime at his office or when another case of the thief, our bodyguards would temporarily live at the mansion with the rest of us; which I didn't like at all.

Once entering the car, I saw my sister already inside, reading a book. She was so fixated on her book that she didn't notice me; only did I called her did she took realization of my presence inside the car.

"Hey! I didn't see you there." She said as she went back to her book.

During the whole trip to our home, the car was filled with comfortable silence, where no one talked to each other as I watched the scenery outside the window of the car, waiting to get home.

*~*~*~*~*~*

The week had passed rather quickly, and finally, the day of the field trip arrived. All students gathered together as we entered the museum. The museum tour guide gave us each a pamphlet and a map of the building. For a couple of minutes, the tour guide guided us to every room and introducing the artworks all over, and when they were done with their tour and their explanation of each pieces of art, the art teacher and our homeroom teacher gave us the permission to roam around a little longer to find more inspiration among the most interesting masterpiece in our eyes.

While I wandered around the museum by myself, I admired the artworks in every room in this building; some were very beautiful and some were odd looking as well. Entering in a different room that was quite spacious, I found Takamina, standing in front of a stand right in the center of the room. For some reason, she looked shock upon seeing a certain masterpiece in that stand, and soon that look turned into a slight frown. Approaching her discreetly, I scared her by slapping both my hands on her shoulders which made her flinch and gasped in slight fear.

"Geez'uz! Acchan, you nearly got me a heart attack." She took deep breathes as her hand rested on chest, calming her probably speeding heart.

Instead of replying back, I glanced at what she was staring a while ago and found a jewelry inside the glass box; it was really beautiful, yet kind of a little big. The necklace had two white wings of an angel or a dove maybe; its body was oddly shaped like a sword as two blue agate stones in perfectly formed ovals were seen outside its body.

"The Agate Links?" I said the name of the large jewel out loud, getting the small girl's attention back to the masterpiece.

"Yeah; it's beautiful isn't it?" I nodded, agreeing with her as she turned to look at me and said, "Did you know the Agate Links isn't an artwork created by an artist but in fact, just an ordinary pendant from way back at least a century ago? Nobody knows where this pendant came from nor who the creator of this necklace was; from what I heard, the creator is really mysterious and they always hide into the shadows."

"If it is just a normal necklace like you say it is, why is it class as a historic masterpiece?"

She smiled at me like she already knew that I would ask that question. She looked at me and turned back towards the object and answered, "The reason why it is here is because there is a story behind it. This pendant is a really unique jewelry; the creator made this necklace for someone very special to him."

Silence stood upon us as I urged her to tell me the story. She opened her mouth once again and finally did decide to tell me.

"Back in at least a hundred years ago, there was a princess named Takigawa Hanako, also known as Ray. Ray symbolized the rays of the sun shining upon a small town where her father ruled in, giving the people the warmth and light in their souls. She was very tall, elegant and beautiful; her long raven hair was reaching her lower back, making her look like a goddess. Everyone in town loved her, even the children loved her; the way she spoke and sang to them grabbed their hearts, especially the heart of a certain young man. She was the perfect woman to any man in the world; she would be the perfect heiress after her father. Princess Hanako had many suitors to choose from, but she was never interested in them at all; she wanted someone who would love her for who she was and not for what she was—to love her as a person and not as just a princess.

One night, a young man with jet black wings and golden hair travelled back to his home after a tedious night of burglary, he would pass by a window still shining while the rest of the world slept. Inside, a young lady would stare at the town from her window as she sighed, searching for something. No one knew what, but that light was like a peak that cut through the darkness, calling out the young man, drawing him towards it; to find out what sort of person was trapped inside that mansion. The young woman noticed someone outside her window as she opened it cautiously, asking who was there. The young man didn't know how to answer her and replied with a signature charming smile saying he was just a friend, wanting to keep her company for the night.

Night after night, the young man would come by her window after his job as theft; the young man would talk to the princess naturally and casually, so she wouldn't feel lonely. Every time the young man came by, the young woman never asked who he really was nor did she questioned his work; she enjoyed spending time with this stranger who had become a dear friend to her. The young man noticed that the girl before him was strong but she was nonetheless frail, and the way she smiled at him, fulfilled him in ways stealing never could, making her laugh gave him his life a meaning he was searching for.

In the end, she was the one who saved him from loneliness; the young man with black wings had never had someone to love nor did he have someone to love him back, and for that, he wanted to give something in return—something that would show her what her smile meant to him; an object to which could represent his sincere feelings towards the young woman.

One evening, he found the princess in her room, sleeping soundly in her bed and placed the pendant outside her window, wishing she would find it in the morning. As fate would have it, she died the next day. She had an incurable illness that no one in town knew about it, not even the young man. The winged young man was devastated when found out about the news; the whole town mourned her death including him. All he wanted was to spend one last night with her and see that smile one last time before she passed away. Since then, the young man never found love ever again and became ever so lonely once again with only his partner by his side, supporting him."

Before I knew it, the story was already over; she smiled sadly at the end of her story as she nodded at the displayed pendant and added, "That pendant was the young man's creation; the creation of his true feelings towards the princess who had become someone so dear and precious in his heart. The wings represents his own wings and the white color of those wings accentuates his true love, and the two agate stones symbolizes the two of them; and when both people come together, the stones will shine a bright light which reveal their affections to one another."

"That's a really sad story." I commented, knowing how the young man felt; I could probably tell the young man was Dark Kai, what with his physical description described in Takamina's story. I didn't know Kai-san had such a dark past, losing a lover must've been really hard on him. When I was still a little girl and at such a really young age, I lost my mother who also had incurable sickness which was now curable. Up until now, I still missed having the warmth of my mother wrapped around me, protecting me in her tight embrace. I couldn't imagine myself losing another person really close and very dear to me again. Remembering how much I cried the day at my mother's death and funeral, I didn't think I would be able to live again if I lost my father or my sister.

"At first, I was so shock to actually find the pendant here, and seen it right before my eyes for the first time; this necklace is a really rare and a one of a kind jewel." She said and resumed, "The story had actually in fact, turned into a novel as well, and was sold really well; most people would think this as a fantasy genre kind of story. I'm not really sure if I told the story correctly, but I think you can guess who the author is."

"I presume Dark Kai-san, right?" Turning towards her, she grinned at my answer which I couldn't tell if I was right or wrong. The descriptions of the young man was blatantly obvious.

"Wrong!" What? That couldn't be right; I was absolutely sure my answer was correct. How could I be wrong? "The story itself talks mostly about Dark Kai's way of life and his secret love life, but the narrator told the story in the third person's point of view, which meant there was a third party; the narrator—who I suspected them to be the author of the book—witnessed every scene of the two main characters since the very beginning, and had described it in perfect detail. The author was like Dark Kai; mysterious. In the book, he only wrote his initials in it and nothing else—T.M. was the only thing that was written in there."

"Just how do you know all of these things?" I asked, seeming to look at her suspiciously.

"You can actually find the book in the public library. Of course, it is written in a different version compare to the original; you can't find the original story anywhere. If I remember correctly, my dad kept the original book somewhere; my ancestor lived during that time and had gotten a copy for himself and we have kept it for a very long time." She crossed her arms over her chest as she looked up unto the high ceiling.

"Do you think you can lend me that book? I would like to read it."

"I don't know; my dad kept it somewhere in the basement and it's very old, I'm not sure if that's a good idea to lend it to you without my dad's permission." She had a look of uncertainty while thinking if it was a good idea for me to borrow that, but it also depended on her father's approval. Since she said it was a very old book of at least a hundred years old, it was understandable that she or her father wouldn't let anyone touch that book. I was seriously interested in the story and I wanted to know more about it, since it showed more mysteries of the thief and I was most certainly sure that Yuko-nee would love to have this kind of information.

"Please~ I promise I won't break it or crumple the pages." I begged as my lower lip jutted in a pout and my eyes giving her my cutest puppy look which seemed to make her blush a little.

"I-I'll think about it." I smiled at her response and found it really cute that she stuttered a little. She let out a small sigh of relieve as she placed her hands inside her pockets, turning towards the pendant with a hint of pink on her cheeks. Suddenly, I saw her blink a couple of time as she tilted her head slightly and pointed towards the glass box. "What's that over there?"

Looking towards the glass box too, I noticed something on the right side of the box; it was a small card. We both called the teacher and they called a museum staff, telling there was something placed near the historical jewel. One of the staffs reached for the pink card and retrieved it as they saw the content inside the card. All of a sudden, the color of their faces drained and a look of panic was seen as we looked over his shoulders to see as well. What was written on that little pink card you say? It was a notice from the phantom thief. How could Kai-san place that notice when there was a bunch of people visiting the exhibit? I meant, from what I heard, all the artworks in the expedition were made public just this morning before we arrived. Kai-san was probably one of us in this museum right now, but I haven't seen him anywhere. The staff bolted away probably warning the owner of the building about the card from the legendary thief.

All too quickly, at least a dozen guards appeared out of nowhere, surrounding the Agate Links. Immediately, I grabbed my camera and snapped a picture of the pendant before we were swept away from the area. I glanced another look at the screen of my camera, making sure I got the shot, and my eyes widen like saucers at what I was seeing; I looked back towards the direction of where all the guards were circled around the stand. It couldn't be. My eyes were probably playing tricks on me or maybe it was just my imagination.

To be continued

@Feat: You must've waited for so long. Yeah I'm back, but just for this time :(. By next week I'll be back at school with a bunch more homework and projects . So I really don't know when I will complete the next chapter :(; however, I hope you will like Part 2 of chapter 3 :). Thank you for reading and commenting. XD

@mikaellitsa:  Everybody seems to get the feeling that Kai and Takamina are the same person :), but you knows; they could be right or wrong :P. But don't worry I'll you know soon in a couple of chapters of so :P. Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. XD

@cisda83: About the picture, you will read it in the next part that is coming in a few scroll down . Thank you so much for reading and leaving a comment. XD

@noah minami: Well, obviously I can't tell you here; just read the next update and you will know soon enough :P. Thank you for reading and commenting. XD

@River1721: You're welcome. What Atsuko saw in her camera will be revealed in this update. And about Takamina's hidden truth, you will find out in the process of the story. Thank you reading and commenting. XD

@Justqle: Oh hey! Welcome to JPH!P :welcome. Always happy to find newcomers here :) XD. Everybody's been curious about the possible relationship between Kai and Takamina, but like I said to the other, you will have to keep reading to find :P sorry about that; I don't want to spoil the story for everyone. Don't worry, this update is a bit of rush and all, but I can't promise about the next chapter. Other than writing fanfics in here (which I really enjoy doing) I still have school and I want to work really hard in school no matter how hard it will. Just be patient; 'cause before you know it, I'll update the next chapter in no time (or not) XD . Thank you for reading and leaving a comment XD.

@kahem: Thank you very much XD! No Kai is not a tengu; I don't actually remember mentioning that in one of my chapters. Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

(A/N): It looks I've actually finish this chapter and I've met my quota . Anyway, I was right; when you put the two parts together, it gives a total of 10 365 words. I wonder if it was a good thing to separate them in parts. Well, Part two of chapter three is done. Thank you for being patient and just like I promise, I updated it nearly by the end of this week. About chapter 4, I haven't started it yet, nonetheless, I will begin writing by tomorrow; I just don't know exactly when will I finish or when will I post it. Don't want for you to wait too long, so here's chapter 3 part 2:

Chapter 3 – Long Lost Lover pt.2

When school was over for the day, my sister came to pick me up with her bodyguard as my bodyguard just followed behind me. She told me that our father had to stay for work about a certain call from the museum of arts. I already knew he wouldn't pick us up after what happened this morning. Telling her I wanted to go somewhere instead of going home, and since she got nothing to do, she accompanied me to the public library with our two bodyguards.

Once entering the library, I asked the librarian what I was searching for; she looked into her computer for a few seconds and told us to follow her. She easily found the book from my description of the story and I was quite happy about it, but sadly, it was a recent version and not the original one. I did hope that Takamina would lend me that book one day.

"What's with the book?" My sister asked as we left the library, ready to head back towards home.

"Takamina told me an interesting story at the museum about the Agate Links when we were looking at it before we were told to leave." I answered as we entered the car to the passenger seats while one of our bodyguards were up front, driving us home.

"And? What's the story about?" Looks like I got her attention already, after all, Kai-san was going to steal the Agate Links from the museum tomorrow night.

"I knew you would ask and I'm also pretty sure that this would intrigue you more." I said, smiling as she urged me to continue. "Anyway, it's about this guy who falls in love with a princess and made the Agate Links for her which shows his inner feelings towards the princess, but the day after she receives the necklace, she dies of illness."

"Sounds like a fairy-tale or something, except the heroine dies at the end." She said disappointingly as she sat back, her arms crossed over her chest.

"But that's not all." I retorted as she looked at me expectantly.

"Go on."

"Did you know the main character and the creator of the Agate Links is none other than Dark Kai?" Now this time, I knew I got her attention really good. "But nobody knows that and none knows about the story behind it too."

"Is that why he will steal tomorrow?"

"Well yeah, it was his creation and probably he just wants it back or something." I shrugged, looking at the book in my hand.

---

Once we got home, I went immediately in my room, placing the book on my desk as I took out my camera from my bag and stared at the latest picture I took at the museum. Since there was no homework to do for class tomorrow, there was nothing much to do in the house besides probably watching television and going to the computer. Throwing the camera on my bed, I grabbed all of my toiletries and went to the bathroom to freshen up.

After my warm shower, I realized my sister was in my room probably telling me that dinner was almost ready and came to chat for a while. Changing into my house clothes and drying my hair, Yuko-nee sat on my bed with an innocent grin, her cheeks showing those deep dimples of hers and said, "I forgot to ask how was the art expedition today."

Shaking my head from side to side, I sighed deeply and just answered her question—a question where she could've ask me from the very beginning. "It was fine until something happen."

"Yeah I heard about that from dad on the phone." She flopped on my bed. "Anyway, dinner is probably ready by now; let's go eat."

Walking down the stairs, we got to the kitchen to find our dinner ready on the dining table. Thanking the maids for the meal, we sat on our usual seats and begun to eat. Without noticing, the dining room television was already on, on the news channel.

"Here at the Art Museum, the home of the phantom Kai's next target; the antique necklace known as the Agate Links. Little is known about the creator of this rare artifact donated to the museum just three days ago and was displayed early this morning where two high school students discovered the notice of the legendary phantom. The arrival of Dark Kai's latest warning letter generated a huge amount of interest from both the public and the media."

The same warning letter I've seen earlier today was immediately shown on the screen with the exact time of event on it. We ignored the rest of what were the newscasters were saying and continued eating our supper. While we were eating silently, I noticed my sister was staring at me with real curious eyes. I asked her what was up and why was she looking at me, and she answered as she took a bite of her rice.

"I just noticed this, but what's with the camera? I mean, you've been staring at it for quite a while and you suddenly brought it here in the dining room."

"I didn’t notice I brought it with me. Okay, before Takamina and I were force to leave the area, I got the chance to take a picture of the necklace, but something wasn't right and didn't seem to belong in the picture." I grabbed my camera on the corner of the dining table, turning it on and showed the latest picture in the little technology in my hand, my sister leaned sideways to get a better look at the photo.

In the picture, it appeared a young beautiful woman somewhere in her early twenties, wearing a white kimono with sakura patterns on it. She looked very tall and had very long silky hair which could actually reach her lower back; she looked like she was from royalty as if she was a princess or something more. She was excessively very beautiful, I couldn't believe such beauty in my life. Asides from my mother, she was the most beautiful woman I've seen so far.

"When I took that picture, that woman appeared out of nowhere, and I'm pretty certain I didn't took her photo by accident. It's odd that she would be in a high secured area at that very time." I said to my sister, hoping she could see the woman in the picture.

"Well, she's really damn pretty if that's what you're asking."

"Wait? You can see her?" I asked as she looked at me peculiarly.

"Well yeah; why?"

"I showed it to Takamina after the trip and she seemed to see the woman perfectly, so I thought the woman was probably there without me knowing it; but when I showed it to Tomochin, she couldn't see her at all and she was looking at me weirdly. She must've think that I was some kind of weirdo at that time." Explaining why I was shock that Yuko-nee could see the woman, I was happy that someone else asides from me and Takamina could see her, which basically meant that I wasn't crazy from the beginning. Though, I wondered, if Tomochin couldn't see the woman, why was Takamina able to see her; this didn't make sense at all.

"Is that so?" She looked up as if she was thinking of something, yet she didn't say anything and just shrugged her arms to just forget about. "Anywhay, I actually found this particular picture very strange. Nobody wears a traditional kimono out on the open nowadays; not even beautiful young woman like her. Usually, we would only wear those on very special occasions." She remarked, until she made up a theory in her head which made me face palm internally. "Maybe she's some kind of ghost or a spirit, lurking around the neighbourhood, trying to find out why they're still on earth and not on the other side, and what kind of unfinished business they have."

"I think you've been reading a lot of ghost stories when you were younger." I deadpanned as I turned back to my food, eating again.

"Oh come one! Think a little; if she just pops out of nowhere in your camera then it could only mean one thing. She's a ghost or a soul ready to be taken by some shinigami." And now, she kept rambling and rambling about her genius theory and it was getting ridiculous. "Don't forget that Dark Kai is a kind of supernatural being too; being called the 'Dark Angel' back in his past. And if I remember correctly, his little pet, the Black Panther cub or whatever it was, it doesn't just sink into a man's back to give him wings to fly and obviously, we've witnessed that Kai possesses and produces magic that magicians can't possibly do."

"So what exactly is your point here?"

"What we're living in and witness right now is so far beyond than just a fiction novel; it's like living in a book narrated by God himself and only He knows what's happening and what will happen next in ours and others futures." We were basically living in a book where God told billions of stories at the same time. But still, I kept my posture and stayed nonchalant, not bothering to listen what else she had to say next; this was plain crazy and stupid. I knew Kai-san was a unique being, compared to us humans. He had superpowers that I had actually seen with my own two eyes, but still, I found ghost stories very childish and very unrealistic. Never in my life have I seen a real ghost right in front of me before, and I would only admit I was wrong when I actually seen one. Even if they were real, I had serious doubts about my sister's theory. "Why don't we check it now, tonight?"

"Where to?"

"The museum!" She exclaimed excitedly. Okay, this was going way to far now.

"Are you insane?!"I yelled at her as she winced at my loud voice, covering her ears. Not wanting anyone else, especially our bodyguards, listening to this conversation, I began to hiss in a loud whisper. "You want to break into a museum?! Clearly you've lost your mind! What if we get caught by the authorities?!"

"Geez; you don't have to freaking yell. I'm just right next to you." She said as she was probably trying to get rid of the ringing in her ears, rubbing the insides of her ears with her fingers. "And no, I am not crazy nor am I losing my mind; I'm being dead serious about this." With the way she was looking at me right now, I knew she was nothing but serious. But she suddenly smirked, showing a mischievous glint in her dark brown eyes which I knew next what she was thinking. With my sister, if she wanted something really bad, she would get without a second thought; we were very much alike, since not only we were sisters, but I would do exactly the same when I wanted something really badly. "Let me remind you that we are the daughters of the Chief Commander; we can get away with anything as long as dad's people know us. We can get in the museum without having a ruckus."

"Okay genius. What about our bodyguards; what are we going to do with them? They will follow us anywhere we go; well not anywhere, but you get the point." Pointing out the obvious obviousness, she only grinned which kind of freaked me out a little.

"We can just give them the slip." She simply responded, making it sound as if it was easy to escape their falcon-like sight.

"And how do you plan on doing that?"

"Don't worry. Leave all the thinking to your onee-chan; I have an amazing plan." She rubbed her hands together as her eyes displayed an evil look, making her look like a super villain like in those typical cartoon shows or something.

---

I seriously couldn't believe we actually escaped from our bodyguards so easily without breaking a single drop of sweat. I really didn't knew it was just that easy; how could I not think of that? Who would ever thought doing something so small and stupid would actually help us slip under the noses of our bodyguards. Apparently, my sister decided to play a little trick to the bodyguards by offering them a break with drinks and snacks, saying how hard they had been working and how much they needed a break. Taking the bait without a second, they accepted the goods and began eating their snacks. But they soon regretted it as they both ran to the guests’ rooms’ washrooms and...Uh...you know... Anyway, my sister added something in their drinks and gave them the instant diarrhea which got them running like the speed of light towards the bathrooms.

We were now currently inside the museum. It wasn't difficult to get in what with the guards recognizing us as the daughters of the Chief Commander, and without much hesitation, they let us in, thinking that we were there to help our father with his mission of the capture of Dark Kai and lock him up behind bars by giving him some pointers and a military plan to finally do so. However, during all of these days he has been here, I knew it was very impossible to just hold him captive unless we got some special powers like the phantom; yet, it was very most unlikely to happen.

Climbing the stairs one step at the time, we finally reached the large room where the Agate Links was located. The spacious room was so dark that our only source of light were the flashlights the guards leant us and the moonlight shinning upon the large windows on each side of the room.

"Who's there?"

All of a sudden, a soft voice called out as we screamed in sheer fear while Yuko-nee and I held onto each other for dear life, dropping our sources of light on the floor as they rolled away from us, flashing their brightness around the room until it stopped to an unknown figure which got us to scream twice as loud. We heard running footsteps heading in our way as five guards came to us, looking alarmed and worried; their hands holding onto their personal flashlights and security guard sticks.

"What the hell is going on?! Is everything alright?!" One of the guards asked as they looked around the room, confused as if they couldn't see the source of our fear. "There's nothing here. I think you girls are seeing things and I believe it is better if you head back home; it's getting really late and it is not safe for girls at your age to be walking alone in the streets." My thoughts were correct. With the way they were looking around without seeing the woman where she was located just right next to the Agate Links and with the moon shinning right above it, it was very clear that they couldn't see the woman at all—a woman who was not supposed to be in the museum in the first place.

"Oh it's nothing." We both smiled sheepishly as we stared at each other. "We thought we saw something and we ended up screaming involuntarily. I apologize for making a misunderstanding ruckus; it's our fault." Yuko-nee apologized as we bowed at the guards. "However, we would like to stay a little longer and before you know it, we will leave." With that excuse said, the guards left, shrugging their shoulders as they told us to make sure we would call them if anything happened to us.

Watching the men leave one at a time, we turned back to look at the woman who was staring back at us as she walked out of her hiding spot, revealing her tall figure and her white and pink kimono as she asked, "You can see me?"

My sister and I stared back at each other as we gulped fearfully and replied in unison with shaking voice, "Y-yes."

"Are you a ghost or something?" I immediately smacked my sister's head from behind as she cried in pain, glaring at me while I glared back at her. Why the hell would you ask a question like that so rudely? I meant, what if she really was a ghost? She would probably haunt us to the ends of the earth and curse us. Okay, maybe I was really exaggerating about this, but it was plainly rude to even ask someone if they were a ghost or some of the sort.

"I wouldn't call myself that." The woman softly answered. "You can say I am just a lonely soul with unfinished business or something."

"What kind of unfinished business?" I asked.

"I really don't know; I can't remember. I feel like I'm supposed to look and wait for someone special." My eyes instantly widened as I remembered the story Takamina told me when I asked her about the pendant.

"I feel that this necklace was given to me by someone really special and close to my heart, but I just can't remember who exactly." The ancient necklace was out of the glass box as the young woman held it to her chest—to her heart. "I felt that this person has spent many times with me. I don't think I got the chance to ask for his name or maybe I just can't remember it. For many long years, I have waited for his return; not knowing who exactly was I waiting for or why I was waiting for him for nearly a century." She paused as she let out a sigh of sadness. "This necklace has been transported from one place to another, and it seems like it was going to be taken away again. How am I supposed to wait for this person if this pendant and I included keep moving around?"

"If it's that important to you then you should keep it and protect it at all cost; even thought this thief saved our lives that one time and I'm very grateful, but that doesn't give him the right to take something that didn't belong to him." My sister argued as she stepped up a little closer to the tall woman while she smiled, thankful for our thoughtfulness.

"You're Ray; Princess Takigawa Hanako." Saying that out of nowhere, she turned to look at me, nodding her head as she smiled brightly.

"Wait! You're a princess?" Yuko-nee exclaimed as she also turned to me and said, "Is this the princess you told me about." To answer her question, I only nodded in affirmative.

"Yes, I am. I remember seeing you earlier this morning here at this very spot with another girl. I knew you couldn't see me until now. However, I was most certainly sure your friend could." She stated which caught my full attention to her. Takamina could see her? It didn't seem like she could see her at all when she told me the story about this woman. Well, I did notice that she was shocked before I scared her; could it be that she was pretending to not notice her when I was talking to her? "I was not really sure, but I felt like she was staring at me instead of the necklace. And for some really miscellaneous reasons, that girl looked suspiciously familiar."

"Hold on a second. My friend reminded you of someone?" I asked as she nodded.

"Well, yes. Her face seems so awfully familiar that she sort of resembles someone I just couldn't put my finger on." She responded.

---

Not long after that, we both exited the building without causing any trouble to the guards as my sister and I walked closely to each other till we heard a smooth alto voice, coming from above. Looking up on a tree, there was the blond boy, standing on a branch in a whole different black outfit which I always found it cool on him, but that was not really the point right now. He jumped down, landing perfectly on the ground, flatly on his feet as he gazed longingly towards the museums.

"You know, I don't know how many times I have to say this, but girls shouldn't be walking around at this hour; it's really dangerous." He sighed as he looked at us quite disappointingly.

"What are you doing here thief?!" My sister said, hiding behind me with a slight blush on her cheeks as she frowned. "Are you planning an advance infiltration for tomorrow?"

"I don't need an advance infiltration plan when it's more exciting to not have a plan on the day of the event. Whatever your father and his men are planning, I only take it as a challenge to find out who can outsmart the other. And no offense to your father, despite all the technologies in this generation, he and his men are very—and I mean very—easy to bypass." He smirked as that look slowly disappeared; deprived of emotions while he took a step closer to us that has got us more cautious. "Though, I have to say, I find it really hard to believe that you girls can see the soul locked in the Agate Links. I thought only my partner and I could see her. You two must be something else. I must've underestimated you humans." His glowing blue eyes suddenly turned into a darker shade of brown totally unlike the blue color I've always seen. For some odd reasons, I could somehow get a feeling that those eyes I was staring at right now were not the eyes of Dark Kai I seemed to know. Those eyes gave me a different feel like it was featuring a different personality—a different character.

"Partner? You have a partner? Who is it?" The boy pursed his lips as he snapped his fingers together and his wings appeared out of the blue and began to flap those wings.

"It seems that my other half have said too much; that's only for me and him to know and you to never find out." With that, he flew away.

---

"How can that be even possible? From all the records I've read, Dark Kai always works alone; there was no way he could have a partner, unless, he's bluffing." My sister began to be irritated as she messed her hair up.

Once we got home, we went straight to her room as she checked all of her data she had found so far about the thief and there was no evidence that Dark Kai-san had ever had a partner. But then again, there was this other guy from the night Kai-san saved us. Could he possibly be his partner?

"What about the mysterious guy we saw when we were kidnapped?"

"Not a chance. Those two didn't seem to be friendly with each other at all." She said as she placed both her hands on her face, sighing in frustration. "And it really looked like that Kai wanted to rip the other guy's head off and tear his body apart."

"Hmm...Then I don't have any idea who this partner of his really is." Honestly, my assumptions were that Dark Kai-san and his partner were probably one person. They were one person but with very different personality; however, I still had my doubts about that. Yet, when I saw those eyes, turning from blue to dark brown was obviously not natural. Besides, he did say that he had an 'other half' which could probably mean his second personality or something. But something was seriously bothering me, Takamina told me that the author of the original story witnessed the whole thing between Princess Hanako and Dark Kai like he was actually there. If it were possible, maybe the author was his partner and maybe one of his descendants of this generation became Dark Kai's partner today.

"I can hear you thinking but you're not saying anything." My sister cut me off from my musings as she looked at me, obviously wanting to know what I was thinking, but I didn't say anything.

"It's nothing. I'm tired; I'm going to sleep. I have school tomorrow." I excused myself as I walked towards the, greeting my sister goodnight as she did the same.

"Goodnight."

*~*~*~*~*~*

The next day went by as usual. My sister and I went to school as my father went to work, planning for the arriving event. And now, the night has finally come as the time of Dark Kai's arrival was soon coming closer and closer. My sister insisted we go back to the museum to see what was going to happen and also to prevent Kai-san from stealing the Agate Links; my sister's plan not mine. Honestly, I didn't see why we should stop him and why we were supposed to go back without a reason. We've again snuck out and slipped away from our bodyguards with the same trick my sister did the other night, except we sort of spiked their dinner before the maids served them. I felt really bad for them for being part of my sister's schemes. Though, I wouldn't blame them if they thought of quitting their jobs as bodyguards after tonight. That was two night in a row that they would get sick in their stomachs.

Instead of entering from the front like last time, we had to find a way to sneak in without being seen by my father and his men. It was actually easy to bypass them without actually being seen by these guards. All we did was sneak by the back of the building and we saw a window that was already wide open, and we just got ourselves in. If this was what my father called high security then he should find a new definition for that; 'cause if we could in get without a ruckus, imagine how easy it would be for Kai-san to break into the museum despite the numerous guards in the inside and out. It was like child's play.

Just like the other night, we climb up the stairs very silently, tiptoeing to the room where the Agate Links rested. However, by the time we arrived, all of the guards inside the room were already down; unconscious even. This probably meant that Kai-san was already here before we did. The only person standing was the phantom boy; we hid behind the walls to see what was going to happen next. Kai-san turned around to find himself face to face with the woman. The young woman looked shock as she saw the face of the boy, I saw tears trickling down her cheeks as she ran into the young man's arms, embracing him very tightly. I guessed she finally remembered who he was. Kai-san reciprocated the action as he brought his face into the crook of the woman's neck, probably not wanting her to see his crying face. It seemed that he must've really missed her so much.

"Why are you crying?" Once they pulled away from the embrace, the princess asked as she looked at the boy’s teary eyes.

"I'm not crying." Kai-san replied, smiling; stubbornly wiping the tears away. "I'm just really happy to see you again. You have no idea how much I miss you."

"I've been waiting for you for so long."

"I know; I just didn't notice until recently."

All of a sudden, while we were looking from the walls, Yuko-nee kept leaning forward to get a better look at the both of them, but we ended up falling to the floor, earning the attention of the two lovebirds. We both got up immediately as we looked around nervously.

"What are you girls doing here?" Kai-san frowned as he eyed at us suspiciously. "Did your father sent you here?"

"There is no way, dad wouldn't sent us here even if we begged him to." Answering his question, the princess smiled at us as she placed her hands on the phantom's shoulders.

"I remember really well now; this is the person who stole my heart many years ago." Kai-san looked stun as a blush crept upon his cheeks; this was the first time I ever saw him blush. It was really adorable if you asked me. From the first time I met him, he was all in serious mode; only once he smiled at me, but I never saw him blush. "You know, I never got to ask for your name, my mysterious angel."

Kai-san turned around towards the woman and answered, "Kai, my name is Kai."

"Kai." She softly repeated; the sound of his name rolling well around her tongue. She soon removed the necklace around her neck and gave it to the boy who looked bewildered. "I think you are looking for this."

The lad took it as he looked back at her, approaching her while placing the palm of his hand on the woman's cheek; gently caressing it as he leaned forward for a passionate kiss. Yuko-nee and I stared wide eyed; shocked by the young man's action. As weird as this sounded, I found it really touching and beautiful. Once separated from the kiss, the phantom boy stared at the pendant and all of a sudden, he broke a piece of the jewelry wing which shocked me and my sister. What the hell was he doing?

"You were cursed by the spell of the Agate Links which cause you to stay on earth for way too long. Breaking it was my original purpose after stealing it that is. If I didn't, you would've remain bound to it. You have waited for my return since I first gave it to you; almost a hundred years." Kai-san gave the pendant back to the woman who smiled fondly at him. "Here. You can keep it; it is fully yours now."

"Thank you; after so long, I finally got to say it to you."

With that, they gave each other one last embrace and another passionate kiss as light surrounded her body— her soul and finally disappeared with a genuine smile on her face. The boy sighed sadly as he looked down.

"Somehow I get the feeling that she wasn't cursed in the first place, but she waited for me to come back for the jewel just wanting to thank me." A tear fell from his blue eyes as he smiled, looking up unto the ceiling. "I've created the Agate Links for her to know how I felt for her and how much she meant to me. She was the only woman I ever loved; I missed her till this very day and I finally got to see her again for one last time." He smiled sadly as more tears fell from his blue eyes.

Yuko-nee and I didn't say a word. It was not because we didn't know what to say, it was because we couldn't say anything. What he has been through was way worse from what we felt we lost our mother. From what I presumed, he had lived longer and had bear that burden on his shoulders for nearly a century, he still thought about her and missed her every day till this day and still more to come. I wanted to cry, but somehow, I couldn't; my tears wouldn't want to leave my eyes. I have held this feeling for a long time, and I promised myself I wouldn't cry to this kind of feeling.

All three of us sneakily walked out of the museum, making sure no one saw us going out. From the looks of it, my father and his men were still waiting outside and they looked very frustrated that all of them went inside to check what was going on. When the coast was clear, Kai-san offered us a ride home and we flew back home. We thanked him again and kept calling him Kai-san which he preferred for us to just call him Kai. That night was quite unforgettable, I finally realized that even Kai was some kind of crook, he had a heart; he had feelings like us humans felt. He may be some sort of 'Dark Angel' to some people, but in the inside, he was like any human being.

*~*~*~*~*~*

The very next day, as usual, I went to school like any other day. However, somehow, this day was a little bit different than usual. Last night, I couldn't sleep at all; not even a single blink. I didn't know why. Once I got into my classroom, I saw Takamina sitting in her desk; looking quite tired as well, and it seemed she was holding something in her hands.

I approached my desk and she took notice of my presence. She grinned as she showed me what was in her hand; it was a book, but not just a simple book, it was a really old book like the books you see in history movies and in documentary channels. 'The Dark Angel's Little Secret' was what was written on the cover page of the book. This must be the original story that Takamina told me about.

"I took the time to find the book you wanted to borrow. My mom helped me find it; it was in my dad's library in the basement. Since my dad is not here right now, I asked my mom for her permission to lend it to you; she seems okay with it, but just don't tear it apart alright. It's really, really old." She displayed the book before me, silently telling me to take it. I took the book as I pressed it close to me as if it was the most precious thing in the world. Takamina seemed to notice my demeanor and asked me if I was okay.

Instead of answering, I didn't know why, but I kept staring at the shorter girl's face, mostly her dark brown eyes. Kai and Takamina sure did look alike a lot, yet they were very different in terms of personality. Without thinking, I lunged into Takamina arms and silently burst into tears that I knew I held since last night. I didn't want to cause a scene in front of our classmates, so I didn't dare cry out loud.

"Acchan, what's the matter?"

"C-can w-we j-just s-s-stay l-like f-for a-a w-while?" I stuttered and choked as I hid my face into her neck, feeling her nod hesitantly. "Thank you." I felt an arm wrapping around my waist as I felt another going up to my back, rubbing it comfortably and soothingly.

Hearing my other friends’ voices, asking what was going on with me. Takamina shrugged not knowing the answer of my sudden burst of tears, and even though I couldn’t see them, I could tell they were just watching me, hugging Takamina tightly with worry evident on their faces.

To be continued

@AtsuminaForever: YEAH! AtsuMina for LIFE! XD I agree with you :). Thanks for reading and leaving a comment XD

@Chichay12:  Thank you very much XD. Really, I mean it. You just made my day, saying that you became my fan; I'm really happy to hear it. Since in most fics here, Ray always portrays a bad guy :(; so I thought I'd give her at least a small, but good role. At least give her a happy ending :). Don't worry, throughout the story, I'll be adding more and more AtsuMina moments. I hope you'll still look forward for the next update. Thank you for reading and commenting, and have a nice day as well XD.

@chiqinna: So many emoticons, I seriously don't know how to answer to that  XD, and you're welcome. Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

@River1721: You think so? I'm glad you like it :). Atsuko is getting suspicious about something, but she'll be able to find out something very soon, or not. Well, eventually, Dark Kai will have to appear in most of the chapters, but who knows really. Don't worry, I'll hopefully update very soon :nervous. Thank you very much for reading and leaving a comment XD.

@kahem: You think so? We'll see about that :P. You were thinking that? I think it's understandable. Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@Feat: But good thing you didn't wait too long for part 2, right? That's really good to know that you would wait, even up until now . I don't mean to disappoint you or anything, but there is no part 3, instead, it's going to be chapter 4. Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

(A/N): I'm really sorry for the really long delay   . Something happened to my laptop and I had to bring it for a repair. Unfortunately for me, all my documents were in the laptop and I couldn't continue writing the story until I got my laptop back, and it had been quite a while since the technicians had been trying to fix it. The chapter was 10-15% complete and I really can't do anything until I get my laptop back. :(  For the time being, I had been using the my school's computers and my phone just to see and read new updates, and trust me, it's much more frustrating that I don't have my laptop :(. I know most of you are seriously looking forward for the next chapter and I'm really feeling bad for this, and I am on my knees to apologize. Really, I'm very sorry for the really long lateness.   And what makes it worse, I had my finals during early May and all of my notes were in my laptop which makes it really hard for me to study. Since I'm in vacation now, I'm still waiting patiently for the repair of my laptop which seems to be like forever. I could've post a new update, but I don't have my documents that's in my laptop. Please understand and be patient a little more. ~Haru~

@cisda83: Maybe a little bit of story behind Kai's background would be a little interesting instead of keeping him too mysterious all the time. Well, you're in luck now, the next chapter is coming up right about now! Just scroll down a little lower and you're there. :P

(A/N):    I know I did promise to update during the summer, but I didn't and I apologize sincerely   . When I got my laptop back from the shop, I totally forgot what I was suppose to write and my ideas were a complete blur :nervous; I'm kind of stupid and I regretted for not taking notes of my ideas at all . Anyway, since it was summer vacation, you can really and I mean really blame me for being a lazy bum and delaying my writings, so I'm in complete fault here. Well, since school started last Thursday for me, I don't think I can advance in my fics for quite a while :(, I'll be very busy with homework(which I already have many), so I believe you guys won't have the next up till December or January  :(. Okay! Enough of me ranting excuses and whatevers. Here's the next chapter.

P.S.: This chapter is a lot shorter than the last one so...yeah :nervous enjoy! XD By the way, if some of you prefer reading it in Tumblr, here it is: How You Stole My Heart - Chapter 4 - Coincidence or Not? (http://rjayharu.tumblr.com/post/96089004438/atsumina-how-you-stole-my-heart-chapter-4)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chapter 4 – Coincidence or Not?

Today was one hell of a lousy Saturday. Why you asked? My sister suddenly ditched me in the middle of the city when she was the one who requested we hang out on Saturday. But no! By the time we got into the heart of the city, she received a call from Sayaka-sempai and Sae-sempai, and they notified her that they had a project to finish which my sister seemed to have forgotten about it. She apologized continuously almost begging for forgiveness when she saw my arms crossed over my chest and an angry pout shown on my face, and promised me she would make it up to me next weekend before leaving with the car.

Anyway, sighing defeatedly, I gave Tomochin and Miichan a call, asking them if they wanted to hang out for today.  Fortunately for me, they agreed as we met up at the mall; Kuu decided to join in as well since his best friend, namely Takamina, had something else to do.

Tomochin and I shopped for clothes and accessories while Kuu bought some video games and Miichan browsed in some mangas. We then watched a comedy movie together in the movie theatre nearby as we laughed our arses off. After the movie, we ended up at a café, eating our ordered snacks at a table outside of the small shop. While we were eating, something or rather someone caught my eye.

“Hey guys, is that who I think it is?” I asked, pointing at the entrance of the supermarket on the other side of the street while the others glanced at the direction of my finger. “Is that Takamina?” I questioned, seeing the girl walking out of the automatic doors with heavy grocery bags. Nonetheless, another woman walked out with her as she smiled lovingly at the struggling little girl.

“Who’s that with her?” I heard Tomochin asking as I tilted my head to the side, wondering who that was also; the woman was quite tall and really pretty, and she looked too young to be Takamina’s mother. Could it be her older sister? Tomochin added, “Somehow, she looks really familiar.”

“That’s her older sister.” Kuu answered as he added, “Miichan and I always saw her, bringing Takamina to the daycare and picking her up every day.” Kuu yelled the girl’s name which caught her attention really quick, and he waved at her. Takamina immediately waved back at us as the woman told something to Takamina and went inside a cosmetic shop after the girl nodded. With the heavy grocery bags, Takamina came running at our table and greeted us with a wide grin.

“Hey guys! Didn’t expect to see you here.” She said happily as she slowly and gently dropped the bags and grabbed a seat beside her best friend.

“Same here. We’re just hanging out. What about you; going out groceries with your sister?” Kuu asked as he wrapped his arm around the girl’s shoulder who tilted her head, looking puzzled.

“Sister? Kuu, I’m an only child. I thought you already knew that.” Takamina replied as a matter of fact which caused Kuu's smile to fall, leaving him dumbfounded.

“Eh? If she’s not your sister then who was that woman with you?” Kuu questioned, probably feeling really stupid right now.

“We’ve been friends for how long now, and you still didn’t know that that woman was my mother?” She asked; her eyebrow raised, looking at him strangely and shock.

“Eh?! She’s your mother?!” Miichan exclaimed loudly, attracting the other patrons around us as the rest of us had our eyes like saucers. “But she looks so young; she can really pass out as your sister really easily.” I had to agree with Miichan here as everyone else nodded their heads too, agreeing. Her mother must've have age really well or had Takamina at a quite young age.

“I think it’s only normal that people may think that my mother is my sister since she got me at a really young age.” Takamina explained as the woman we were talking about approached us, greeting us politely in a friendly smile.

“You must be my Minami’s friends. Hi, I’m Takahashi Haruna; nice to meet you.” The woman introduced herself, bowing slightly. We introduced ourselves as well—namely Tomochin and me—returning the bow.

After we introduced ourselves, Tomochin suddenly shouted, attracting the attention from patrons again. Apparently, Takamina’s mother was a very popular model in Japan and still was; she also used to be an idol when she was in her teenage years before disappearing from the public eye and became a model a year after. Tomochin retrieved a pen and a magazine that she recently bought earlier today from her bag, and asked for an autograph. The woman was happily signing the photo book and smiled before turning at Kuu and Miichan.

“It’s been a long time Kuu-kun, Miichan; you’ve grown a lot since the last time I saw you.” She stated as she rubbed their heads messily. She glanced at all of us and thanked us for watching over her ‘baby’ when she was not around, making the little girl blush for calling her ‘baby’. I found it really cute actually; they must be really close. “Minami, we have to go home now; Nyaachan is probably waiting for us, and I want to try out that game we just bought. It’s really nice to meet all of you.”

“But that’s my game~” Takamina complained, pouting as her mother affectionately pinched her nose before the girl turned back to us. “Well, I have to go now. I’ll see you guys at school.” She got up from her seat as she grabbed all of the grocery bags while her mother unlocked the doors of their car. We all bid them goodbye and the car drove away.

---

Once the sun was about to set, Tomochin, Miichan and Kuu decided to call it a day and left after saying their goodbyes, saying they would see me back at school on Monday; I called my driver to pick me up and drive me back home.

By the time I got home, I walked to my sister’s room only to find Sayaka-sempai and Sae-sempai in her room engrossed on working on their group project with my sister who was starting to look frustrated. A couple of seconds later, Yuko-nee looked up to find me at her door; she got up, grinning as she grabbed my wrist and pulled me inside her room. Looks like she wanted to take a little break; she must've been working since she got back home.

"Hey, little sis'! How's your day today?"

"Nothing much; hung out with Tomochin and the Minegishi twins." Replying, I took a look at their work and they didn't seem like they were close to finishing. Looks like they would spend an all-nighter tonight.

"Really? That's good. And?" She urged me to continue as she worked at the same time.

"We saw Takamina coming out of the supermarket with her mother." Adding, I heard her hum as I pointed out. "Her mother is Takahashi Haruna."

All of a sudden, Yuko-nee jumped in shock as she settled beside me in a flash, forgetting her work completely which her teammates glared at her for being easily distracted.

"Seriously?! Like the idol who was Kojima Haruna, but became Takahashi Haruna the model?!" Shouting, she shook me hard, probably feeling jealous about me meeting the supermodel as I answered with a nod. "No way!"

Covering my ears from her loud voice, she stopped screaming like a crazy fan and calmed down, taking a couple of deep breaths.

"I can't believe you met her; I idolize her. Her body is amazing, and her boobs! Ah, her boobs! I just want to touch them and squeeze them; just feeling them would make me happy."

Honestly, I never pegged my sister to be a pervert...like an old man. But now that I mentioned it, I remembered her staring at me—like how she looked like right now—when we were at the beach last year, and out of nowhere, she jumped on me and grabbed my chest. I didn't react much at her antics since she was my sibling and I didn't really care much because of her playful character.

"You're weird." I deadpanned as I reminded her, "Just so you know, you're talking about my friend's mother here, and it's really disturbing."

Leaving the room, I walked to my own room and just did whatever.

*~*~*~*~*~*

The weekend went by so fast and I was now back at school. Morning classes were going smoothly and normally as usual, and time passed by rather quickly. It was already lunch hour and before my friends gathered around—like we usually did—I took Takamina by the arm as I excused myself to the bathroom and pulled her outside the classroom with a book in my hand.

We walked along the hallways as I handed her back the book she lent me a few days ago. The book was much more interesting and more detailed than the versions I’ve read when I was a child. It was so interesting that it only took me a couple of days to read the whole thing without much of a distraction and a break. The story was deep and emotional, and sounded very much real despite the supernatural theme behind it. However, after reading the whole book, I realized that everything was real after that incident at the museum when Kai apprehended the Agate Links. Takamina was right; the narrator spoke like they were really there. Kind of like they were seeing through Dark Kai’s eyes; kind of like the narrator was calling themselves in the third person as if they were the same person.

“Ah, thanks. Did you like it?” She said, taking the book from me.

“Yeah I did. It so much better than the ones I usually hear when I was a kid, but it had a sad ending.” I commented as I smiled sadly at her. “By the way, thank you for lending the book to me.”

“No problem.” She replied as her face turned somewhat serious. “I don’t mean to pry in your business or anything, but do you mind telling me why were you crying that day? I mean, something must’ve happen that made you cry.” She asked hesitantly as she glanced down at her feet, staying silent while waiting for my reply. “You know, you don’t have to tell me if you’re uncomfortable about it; it’s alright—”

“The night before that day, I remembered a feeling I had felt many years ago.”

“A feeling?”

I let out a sigh as I turned to face her, grabbing her back inside the classroom. I ordered her to take her lunch with her as I took mine. I excused myself and Takamina to eat somewhere else to talk privately; our friends asked us why we had to leave them and I just decided not to tell them and apologized sincerely.

I guided my little friend to the rooftop as we sat down and began to eat silently. Takamina stood silent, eating while waiting for me to tell her my story. I heaved a deep sigh as I let my lunchbox rest on my lap.

“My mother passed away when I was just I child. Before she died, I promised her that I would never cry and always smile, and at her funeral, I kept my promise and I didn’t shed a single tear.” I told her before inhaling a deep breath as I opened my mouth to carry on on my tale. “The night before you lent me that book, something happened that made me remember that feeling. When you showed me the book, it triggered that feeling inside me which got me to burst in tears. I kept it bottled up for many years and I had to just release it to be free of it.” I ended, sighing as I wiped the unshed tear from my eye; the silence surrounding us for quite a while.

“I sort of get what you mean?” The pregnant silence broke when she suddenly spoke.

“You do?”

“Well, yeah. I mean, I can actually relate to your story, but it’s not as painful as yours.” She stated as she extracted a photograph from her wallet, displaying a laughing baby Takamina being held in a loveable and protective embrace by a really young adult in which I assumed was her father who had the most feminine and good-looking face I’ve ever seen in my entire life—almost thought that he was a woman for a second. “I was only three years old when my father left the house to work abroad; he never came back to this day.” She confessed, breathing deeply as I listened to her story attentively. “I wasn’t lying when I told you that my mother got pregnant with me at a young age; both my parents were high school sweethearts. “She added, smiling slightly as she resumed dejectedly. “When I started attending preschool, I realized that all the kids had their fathers with them; everyone except for me. I was beginning to become depress and jealous towards the other children, and some of the boys in my class were starting to bully me, saying that the reason why I didn’t have a father around was because he didn’t love me and my mother anymore and decided to abandon us.” Those little bastards. I could totally understand her; I used to be bullied too as a child when I lost my mother. Being bullied and picked on were not an amusing feeling at all. “With that alone, I snapped and went as far to bring violence onto my classmates—mostly to the boys—and nearly choked one of them to death. The preschool called my mother and she was not too happy about it; she scolded and asked me why I did something like that. I told her and explained how those kids bullied me and told me all those horrible things to me. She cried right in front of me and held me really close.”

When she was done, none of us spoken till the end of lunch break as we didn't have any topics to talk about after that tense conversation we had.

---

“Okay, this project is the biggest project you'll have this semester and the topic is about love; I want you to show me your meaning of love and express them through your skills. This is not an easy task, so you have till the end of the semester to work on it and to hand it in.” Afternoon classes began with art class as the teacher explained the biggest project of the year that we were going to have while adding, “There are many artifacts in the museum we visited last week that showed examples of love, so I want you to do the same thing."

While I was sorting out my art equipment on the desk, I noticed that I was running out of charcoal pencil and so was the papers on my sketchbook. With the remaining of my art materials, I thought of the best picture of my definition of love. Picking up my charcoal pencil, I brought my hand up to my sketchbook and I was ready to draw, but my hand stopped half-way to the paper; I didn’t know what to draw at all. What was my definition of love? I’ve never been in love in my whole life. There were many forms of love; the love between parents and their children, the love in friendship, the love between lovers, and many more. Love was a complicated emotion and a powerful word that was difficult to understand. It was also really hard to describe with just words.

Putting my pencil down, I gazed around to my other peers to see how far they have gone, but many of them didn’t seem to begin drawing either; it looked like everybody was having a hard time to picture their definition of love. I glanced at Takamina and it appeared that she had already started drawing her draft, shaping the forms, shapes and lines. As expected from the president of the art club, and not to mention that she had been in love with Tomochin and been in a relationship with her before, so it was only natural that she knew what love was. I was never good at arts and some were the same, but the teacher told us before it was alright as long as we tried our best.

“I’m not expecting you to finish your draft today, I’m only demanding you to brainstorm your ideas and if it is possible, you can start drawing your drafts. Just take your time and don’t rush things, because the more you rush, the more you panic and mess things up.” The art teacher pronounced as he walked around the classroom to see how many have begun drawing their drafts and how many have not started yet as he helped others with ideas and get them started.

When art class was over, my classmates and I walked back to our originated classroom for the next class. Tomochin and Miichan were walking in each of my sides as we were talking about our previous class.

“Have you thought of what to do about the art project?” Tomochin asked as Miichan rolled her eyes, shaking her head disapprovingly. “I mean, it’s a really good theme, but I’m having a hard time expressing it on a piece of paper or canvas.

“The topic is too complicated. Even though I love reading shoujo mangas and knowing everything about romance through them, but I don’t know a thing a love; heck, I’ve never been in love.” Miichan responded, complaining a bit.

“You do realize that love doesn’t have to just be about romance; it could be also be about family and friendship too.” Pointing that out, I saw Miichan smacking her forehead as Tomochin made an ‘O’ shape with her lips.

“Why didn’t I see or think about it earlier? I can’t believe I feel so stupid.” Miichan said while Tomochin probably thought the same thing.

Sighing, I was nowhere near to even start my draft. The teacher did help me with ideas, but none of them seemed to be as extraordinary as he thought it was. Maybe the ideas would appear once I got inspiration from my personal life or from others.

*~*~*~*~*~*

When the day was over, I told my driver to bring me to the art store first before he brought me back home. I was now currently inside the art store, finding my supplies. Finding what I needed and some extra equipment, I found someone in the store as well; I found Takamina also browsing around the store. Feeling like she was being watched, she turned towards me only to catch my gaze in surprise.

“Hey Acchan, it’s very unlikely to find you hanging around here, and unexpected.” She approached me, smiling while balancing all the items in her arms.

“I just ran out on some stuffs and came here to buy them for the art project.” Replying, I showed the blank sketchbook and the small pack of charcoal pencils in my hands, emphasizing as she stared at the items, frowning slightly. “What?”

“Oh…um…it’s nothing. It’s just these are not exactly the best qualities items to buy; the charcoal pencils are too thin that they can break easily and the papers on that sketchbook are so low quality and cheap like the ones they have in coloring books for children.” Takamina judged at my choice of art products as I lifted my eyebrow, feeling somewhat insulted which she felt it.

“Well sorry for not being a professional artist here.” I said, trying to cross my arms on my chest as she chuckled slightly.

“As a matter of fact, I didn’t say that to insult you; I said that just so you can see and buy better quality items than those cheap ones you’re holding.” She reassured me as she grabbed my wrist and lead me to the pencil section, taking a look at the varieties of charcoal pencils at the end the aisle. Finding what she was looking for, she picked them up and brought me a mechanical pencil with a slightly thicker charcoal leads. “This is the best mechanical pencil in the store and since the leads are a little bit thicker than those, you don’t have to worry about them breaking too soon.” She explained, giving the pencil and the pack of leads to me as I checked the price, making my eyes go wide which I turned to her unhappy.

“This is too expensive for just one mechanical pencil.” I protested, comparing the prices on both charcoal pencils and the mechanical pencil.

“Well, you don’t have to complain about your pencil to go shorter and break every time, and despite this one being more expensive than those, you save a bunch on money just to buy leads instead of pencils.” She reasoned as I also compared the leads with the pencils, and she was right; the leads were a couple of dozens yens cheaper than the thin lead pencils.

Putting the pencils back to its rightful place, I grabbed a second pack of leads for extras as Takamina and I went to the papers, sketchbooks and canvas section. Just like a while ago, Takamina stared at the varieties of sketchbooks as she grabbed a big booklet. Grabbing the big booklet, the papers were quite thick and it was a little bit pricier than the sketchbook I was currently holding.

“This sketchbook has more pages than those and since they’re thicker, you can erase without any problems and without crumbling the papers.” She explained as she took the cheap sketchbook, placing it back where I last took it. As expected from the president of the art club.

“Thanks.” Thanking her, she only nodded as I glanced at what items she was holding; she had several different colored painting tubes, many types of paint brushes and a large canvas. “Are those for the art project?”

“Ah! Yeah, they are. I just have to finish my draft first and test some of the colors for my painting.” She said as we went to the counter to pay for our items.

“Wait, you’re almost done?” I asked stunned as we walked out of the store with my driver waiting by the sidewalk. Putting my purchases in the car, I told my driver to wait there as Takamina nodded in response as she placed her purchased items on the ground and reached for her schoolbag, grabbing her sketchbook. She opened the book which she showed an incomplete draft of her drawing; there were so many lines that I couldn’t identify what was on the drawing.

“I’m nearly close to finish my draft, but I’m planning to make my final draft just so I can do it the same thing on the canvas and just paint over it.” She explained, putting the sketchbook back into the schoolbag. “But in terms of time, I’m not even half way done; it would take a lot of time to paint a large painting.”

Nodding in understanding, I noticed that the sun was about to set soon as I looked at my watch and realized it was quite late. “Can I offer you a ride home?”

Takamina also stared at her watch and her eyes widened like saucers as she refused my offer before grabbing her stuff from the ground and ran away. Bewildered at her actions, I chased after her, calling for her to stop as she entered into an alley. Following her to the alley, she suddenly disappeared and I ceased on my steps as a shadow emerged from that dark alley.

Coming out of that alley was none than the blond phantom; however, there was something different about him, he looked different. The odd thing about his appearance was that he was wearing the uniform of my school. Since when did he go to my school? I never noticed him or seen him in the building, like ever. So, how was it that he was wearing the uniform right now?

Standing frozen from shocked, Kai approached me with a small smirk past on his lips, saying, “We should stop meeting unexpectedly like this, unless you’re following me.”

“Don’t flatter yourself; I was just chasing after a friend who suddenly took off in a hurry after refusing my offer to drive her home, and besides, it’s not like I chose to see you almost everywhere I go.” Crossing my arms over my chest as I heard him chuckle softly.

“Don’t be like that; I was just joking. It’s only a coincidence that met you here.” He said, looking like he was thinking of something. “Ah! I think that friend of yours ran past me before I met you. Is he your boyfriend?” His question sounded like a tease, but with his face looking so serious, I doubted that he was teasing me. “I don’t think you can catch up to him anymore; I’m pretty sure he’s long gone.”

“First of all, that friend of mine is a girl. And second, why are you wearing my school’s uniform?” Pointing out the clothes he was wearing, he stared down at himself as he answered nonchalantly.

“Oh, I’m attending Akihabara High since the beginning; I’m a senior student just like you.” Okay, that left me dumbfounded as my jaw dropped for a couple of seconds before I regained my thoughts, thinking a little. Then it clicked; it kind of made sense. The event of the discovery of his notice on the Agate Links. Our school were the first people to visit the museum on the first day of the opening, it made so much more sense when Takamina found the little piece of paper. Only the phantom thief would know how to blend in with the crowd and plant the notice on the stand without being seen. They were maybe some other ways to plant a notice on the artifacts, but many he didn’t to be caught or recognized and make things complicated.

“I didn’t know that at all, but why don’t I see you around campus?”

“Maybe you didn’t realize I was there, because I’m actually closer than you think.” Kai hinted, smiling mysteriously. “Anyway, I got to go and you should too; it’s getting dark soon.” He patted my shoulder and winked before jumping on top of a building and retreated. “I’ll see you around.”

*~*~*~*~*~*

By the time I got home, I entered my room tired as my sister came to pick me up for supper. Changing into my casuals, I left my room to meet my sister in the dining room only to find her, waiting for me as she watched this evening’s news. Dinner was served as we both thanked for the food and started eating.

“So, Yuko-nee, anything interesting happened today?” I questioned, eating a mouthful of rice while sticking in a piece of meat, realizing that I was starving.

“Nothing really.” She answered, eating another mouthful. “Nothing new has been happening since the Agate Links event. We’re back to where we waited for weeks till the phantom thief shows up again, and homework’s been piling up since then too; I really can’t catch a break.”

“You had plenty of time to do it instead to researching about the phantom thief, Dark Kai.” I scolded, rolling my eyes. “Which reminds me, something interesting and unexpected I discovered today.” My sister stopped eating for a little while, telling me to go on. “I met Kai today.”

“What?! No way!” Yuko-nee jumped excitedly which nearly scared the hell out of me. “Do tell! Tell me the whole story!” Exclaiming, she put down her chopsticks as she rubbed her hands together agitatedly.

“After school, I went to the art store to buy some things for my art project, but then, I surprisingly met Takamina who was doing the same thing; I mean, it’s not really a surprise since she’s the president of the art club.” Pausing, I took a gulp of my juice, biting onto my meal as I moved on my little adventure. “Anyway, once we paid for our items, I noticed it was getting late and I offered Takamina a ride home, but she turned me down and ran off all of a sudden.”

“Well, that’s just odd. If she was really that in a hurry, she would accepted that offer immediately.” Yuko-nee commented as she tilted her head to the side, deep in thought.

“That’s what I thought, so I chased after her, however she had to run into a dark alley and disappeared. Nevertheless, out of the blue, Kai came out of that same alleyway; wearing my school’s uniform!” I finished, exclaiming.

“No freaking way! Akihabara High?”

“Yes way. He’s been attending my school ever since I entered there; he’s in the same year as I am! And the weird is is that I seriously don’t see him around there at all and he said that he’s closer than I think!” Exclaiming, I finished the rest of my meal as Yuko-nee swiftly looked confuse.

“But that doesn’t make sense at all; don’t you find it odd that Takamina would quickly vanish out of nowhere, and that Kai would coincidentally appear in front of you from the same place?” She questioned before she finished her dinner. “I think I’m starting to have more suspicion towards your little friend.”

“We’re back to that subject again? It’s not her I tell you; I even investigated and checked on her ever since we suspected her of being the phantom thief.” I stated, sighing tiredly.

“C’mon, think about it clearly. Takamina left in a hurry and Kai came out just right after Takamina escaped…doesn’t it already sound suspicious?”

“But it could be a just a coincidence that he was there. He just happened to be there, plus he said that he saw Takamina running past by him. And when I told you I checked, I checked.” Reminding her, she looked at me skeptically. “Remember when we were kidnapped?”

“Yeah, of course I do. I was stabbed and you nearly got raped by those guys.” Seriously, I didn’t like to be reminded about that night; nearly got a nightmare that same night.

“Anyway, he healed you and transferred your wound to his body, also when I looked for the same injury on Takamina’s body the next morning, there was no stitches, no band-aid and no scars; there was nothing.” I enlightened her as she nodded in acknowledgement.

“Just for the record, Kai is like a witch without a magic wand; he can practically heal himself that same night. Have you ever thought about that?" She inquired as moved on without giving the chance to answer her question." He was using some kind of magic to transfer injuries to his own body, to heal wounds, and he has wings. What kind of human has wings? And he's kind of like a vampire or an immortal; he's been living for many generations and would still look the same—or it could be just his soul that is immortal— Takamina can just be a disguise to cover up Kai’s identity in school. It’s just a theory, but it’s highly possible that Takamina and Kai are the same person; we just don’t know who the real person is. I remember you reading the book she lent you; ‘The Dark Angel’s little secret’. How come she knows about the real story behind the Agate Links and no one else, probably asides her family? The only reason she knows about it is because she and the rest of her family are somehow related to the phantom thief. Which can make more sense since it’s genetic; it is passed on to the next generation and so on." She paused as she drank her juice. "As a matter of fact, it’s been exactly eighteen years since the last Kai’s disappearance not twenty; Takamina is only eighteen just like you. From my research and calculations, she was born exactly a week after Kai disappeared. Coincidence? I think not.” That was her final argument, going back to her room as the maids took our dishes. Thinking about what she said, it was really plausible, but there was a huge possibility that it was impossible.

Was Takamina’s disappearance and Kai’s appearance just a pure coincidence or was it not? Which is it? Ugh…I foresaw a headache right now and I was right, I felt pain in my head as I began to massage my temples. Maybe I should head back to my room and just rest. I really got to stop thinking about this.

Who and what the hell are you Kai; Takamina?

To be continued

@Feat:  When I mean by short I meant in terms of words; 5-6 paragraphs in a chapter is way too short for me. Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

@cisda83: They definitely will be in a dangerous situation…or something like that :P. Atsuko doesn’t really give a damn, but she’s just curious. Yuko really want to get to the bottom of this. Of course, Haruna knows; she did get married to one. Minami and Kai’s background will be throughout the story. Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

@ryu201: Hello new reader! Hai yoroshiku ne! I’m really happy to hear that XD; that means a lot to me. Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@noah minami: I really have no idea . Yes seriously, I think Haruna suits well as Minami’s mother in here; I really thought about it really hard who would be Minami’s mother. You think so? I think many readers seem to realize that :). I’m not telling :P! Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

@crosteks: Who knows :P ? I’m glad you like it. Thank you for reading and commenting XD.

@kahem: Yes, Haruna is Minami’s mother ! Thanks for reading and commenting XD.

(A/N): Hey guys! Sorry there won’t be any updates today :(. Apparently, something happen to my computer…again. I tried to fix it and it looks like I have to replace the motherboard; I have to wait for the order before fixing it. I’m currently using my phone, and let me tell you, it’s not easy to reply every comments in this thread like in a computer. I will have to delay my updates a little longer since all of my files are in my computer and it’s not working at the moment. I apologize for this inconvenience and please rest assure that updates will come soon. Thank you for your understanding XD. (Just copy/paste from the last post :P)

D.N.Angel is one of my favorite animes, so seeing you incorporate it into your story makes me really happy. I'm wondering though, if Yuko knows so much about Kai, why doesn't she tell her father about any of the info she's found. Is she just really curious about Kai, does she want to catch him, or is she developing a crush?
I love your story, and I'm looking forward to your updates. I hope your computer can be fixed soon!

@TeenyTae: I'm really glad to hear that my story makes you happy. Yuko is just very curious of Kai and she prefer for her dad to catch the phantom thief in his own power. And with the pride of a police officer, officers likes to solve their cases on their own. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment XD :).

(A/N): Hey guys! I'm back again with another chapter of HYSMH . Honestly, I'm not really proud of this chapter :(, I think I'm losing my touch as a writer a bit. Sorry it took so long to finish this  , after I fixed my computer, I've become really busy with homework and projects. I'm also getting into my finals next week, so I plan to post this chapter before my exams starts. So wish me luck on my exams and please enjoy this chapter XD :).

Chapter 5 – Traveling Back in Time

“Why are we at a funeral again?” I asked my father as I played with the hems of my black dress, waiting in a long line with my father and my sister to give our condolences to the family members. “And what’s with this long line?”

“The decease is my best friend way back in middle school.” My father claimed as he continued with his story. “After graduating in high school, he became a really famous pop star back in our days. And he now holds the legacy of the king of Jpop. That’s why there are a lot of people here to mourn his death.” My father answered as I sighed boringly.

“It’s Saturday! I rather spend my weekends with my friends than at a funeral.” Yuko-nee exclaimed as I nodded my head in agreement.

“Ditto.”

It has been days since my last encounter with Kai, and during those past couple of days, what my sister had told to me was stuck in my mind. Thanks to that, I couldn’t concentrate in class which worried my friends, including Takamina. I tried not to think about it too much, but those thoughts just kept haunting my mind. I meant that Takamina was back to being a possible suspect of being the phantom thief Kai, and it was frying my brain.

With my own knowledge and also with the help of Yuko-nee’s information, I attempted to connect the puzzle of Takamina and Kai’s real identity. However, it was rather really hard to connect everything without any proof.

In terms of facial resemblance, it was hard to say that it was a coincidence or not. Takamina and Kai look exactly the same; they could pass out completely as twins. Heck, I even considered that Kai was Takamina’s long lost twin brother or something. When my sister also told me about the other people having the same facial geometry as the phantom thief a couple of weeks ago, I asked her to give me the photos of those people. She didn’t question my demands and just gave me the pictures as she made me promise her not to tell our father. Surely, one out of the four was obviously Takamina and two out of the three others were related to Takamina. However, the two didn’t look like Takamina or Kai at all, but the last one did look like Takamina and they weren’t even related. I wondered why was that?

During that time in the museum, was it a coincidence that Takamina found the notice or did she put it there and found it on purpose? No one knew. I asked my sister if we could meet her friend to show us a video feed of the security camera from the very beginning. We saw the whole feed from the opening till the time we discovered the notice. Nothing unusual happened. Takamina was never near the Agate Links until a few minutes before I met up with her.

After what seemed like forever, we finally reached the coffin and the family of the decease, and Yuko-nee and I were surprise. Why? Because we saw someone very familiar among the family members. Who was it you ask? It was Takahashi Minami in a black suit; who was as surprise as we were.

We slowly made our way towards the coffin, standing right in front of it as we brought our hands together at the same time and closed our eyes to give our prayers to the decease. Looking at the dead man’s face, he looked still young; since he was my father’s best friend, I would assume that he has the same age as him. It was a shame to die quite young.

“It’s been a long time Haruna-chan, hasn’t it?” My father said, approaching Takamina’s mother as we followed him behind.

“It’s good to see you too, Mizuki-san.” The woman responded as Takamina walked towards us.

“I’m so sorry for your lost.” He said sympathetically.

“Yeah, me too.” Haruna-san responded just as sorrowful. “He was like your brother to you too.”

“You must be Minami-chan.” My father said, smiling slightly; approaching the girl as he patted Takamina’s head. “The very first time I saw you, you were just a tiny little baby and my wife was pregnant with my youngest daughter. Now look at you now; all grown up.” He stated, placing both his hands in front of him; showing how small Takamina was when she was a baby as he chuckled. “Your uncle Riku was so happy when you were born and would always pick you up in his arms from both your parents.” Takamina just stood there silently, probably not knowing what to say or comment on that as she nodded understandingly.

Takamina, my sister and I just stared at each other silently while the guest were giving their prayers and their condolences as my father and Haruna-san spoke to each other. Yuko-nee then decided to break the ice as she addressed to Takamina.

“You uncle looks rather young; how old was he?”

“I’m guessing the same age as your dad.” Takamina replied. “He and my mom had a good twelve year gap.”

“Was he married?” I inquired curiously.

“He was, but they divorced and never had children.” She responded sadly as she continued on and added, “He was too focus in his work to actually concentrate on those things. Maybe that was why his wife divorced him.”

“Do you know how he died? Probably overexerting himself in his work or something?” Yuko-nee inquired.

“He was perfectly healthy; nothing was out of the ordinary. The cause of death was unknown.” Takamina said.

“That’s too bad; he’s really good-looking.” My sister smiled sadly as she crossed her arms over her chest, staring at the body in the coffin.

“Were you really close to him?” I asked as I walked towards the small girl and took her hand comfortingly.

“Of course I was. He may have been busy in most times, but he always had the time to spend with the family, especially with me.” She said as a matter of fact and added, “He taught me how to sing, how to play the guitar and the piano. He was a good man, and he had always been.”

With that, our conversation ended as my father walked towards us and announced that we would be having lunch with Takamina’s family after the funeral. Haruna-san also approached us as she told us that we could wait inside instead of standing there without doing anything.

We decided to listen to them since we probably would be here for a while before we would leave for lunch. We entered inside the pop star’s mansion and made our way inside the parlor as we took a seat on the couch to get comfortable. We just sat in silence until my sister noticed something and pointed it out at us.

“Why are you guys holding hands?”

Takamina and I stared at our entwined hands as we looked up at each other and swiftly let go while blushing furiously. I knew that my face was as red as a tomato, feeling the heat rushing all over my face. I had no idea that I was holding her hand the whole time. Maybe it felt natural to even noticed.

I looked back at Takamina who was still looking away with her forefinger scratching her rosy cheeks while smiling sheepishly. Turning to my sister, she was staring at us quite amusingly. Noticing my stare, she smiled a smile that I didn’t seem to understand.

“Aw. Look at you two blushing; that’s so cute.” She giggled, approaching me and Takamina and started pinching our cheeks while baby talking us. “It’s good to be young and in love.”

“Yuko-nee, we’re not in love and we’re not in a relationship!” I exclaimed, pushing my sister’s hand away from my face.

“Aw, c’mon. Why not?” My sister asked amusingly as she sat between Takamina and I while wrapping her arm around Takamina’s shoulders and suddenly gave her a headlock, slightly choking the poor girl.

“First of all, we’re both girls and if I were into girls, my type would be someone taller and better looking.” I informed my sister as I turned to Takamina. “No offense Takamina.”

“None taken.” She replied as she struggled to remove my sister’s hold on her.

“Seriously? I think the both of you would look cute together.” My sister commented as she let go of Takamina while looking at her quite proudly, elbowing her sides. “I heard that you had a history with Itano Tomomi; you dog. How did you get a gal like her between your paws?”

“How did you even know about that? I don’t remember telling you about them.” I told her as she just shrugged and smiled widely.

“Miichan told me about it.” Yuko-nee answered as she looked at Takamina with a wide amusing grin. “So tell me about it; how did you get into a relationship with a girl that fine that any men would die having?”

“It’s not really a big deal.” Takamina murmured as she crossed her arms over her chest and a blushed covering her cheeks.

“What do you mean ‘it’s not a big deal’? Tomochin is currently one of the hottest and most popular girl in your school, right?” My sister wrapped her arm once again around Takamina’s shoulders and pulled her closer. “And if I remember correctly, Tomochin’s type are tall and handsome rocker or biker boys.”

“Not necessarily. She did tell me and Miichan that she found Takamina and I quote ‘cute and charming’.” I informed them as Takamina’s cheeks redden three time folds while looking away from me when we made eye contact.

“Excuse me, I need to use the washroom.” Takamina suddenly pulled away from Yuko-nee’s hold and stood up as she excuse herself.

“Aw, come on; don’t run away from us!” My sister shouted as Takamina’s body was power walking away from us. “There’s nothing to be embarrassed about sharing your love life with us!”

“Look at what you did. You scared the poor girl away.” I accused as she just chuckled amusingly. “What’s so funny?”

“I wouldn’t worry too much. Eventually, she will have to come back and I can nag as much as I want just to listen to her story.” She reasoned and I decided to let it go since Yuko-nee loved this kinds of things and wants to hear every juicy detail, but I highly doubt there was anything really juicy in Takamina and Tomochin’s story; after all, they were dating when they were like what…14 to 16 years old.

It hadn’t been a minute yet and my sister was already bored as she got up from the couch and began to look around the room. She suddenly stopped in front of the fireplace as her eyes were fixed upon something. She reached her hand out and grabbed a small red box. Opening it, the little box contained a black ring and a red stone attached to it. It looked really beautiful and extravagant, and it seemed to be shining a bright light that kept our eyes hooked upon it.

Not long later, we heard shouting by the door as our view was slowly drifted away from the glistening object to the person's loud voice who was running towards our way and all of a sudden, the tiny case was immediately taken away from my sister's grasp.

"No! Don't touch that and don't look at it either!"

Takamina quickly closed the lid of the box as she breathed quite heavily. She looked up at us with worry evident on her face as her usually calm dark brown eyes were transforming to sharp blue. Why was her eyes turning blue?

"Too late; she's gone." She announced as her blue eyes showed fear. What did she mean? Who exactly was gone?

Suddenly, I was starting to feel dizzy and the next thing I knew was Yuko-nee falling as Takamina caught her in her arms and next was me falling on the floor; everything turned dark, and the last thing I heard was,

"I'll get you all out of there. I promise."

And then, nothing.

*~*~*~*~*~*
[/b]

Groaning slightly, I slowly opened my eyes; my sight blurry as I gradually sat up and all of a sudden, my head was starting to hurt. As my eyes finally adjusted to my surroundings, I found Takamina and my sister near me still unconscious. Approaching them, I gently shook them awake until they were conscious.

"Ow! What the hell happen?" Yuko-nee moaned as she held her head in pain. "This feels like I had a bad hangover."

"First of all, where are we?" I asked the most obvious question as we all looked around the background. It seemed to me that we were just outside of a concert dome or something. I could hear cheering and screaming from the inside; they must be having a concert right at this moment.

I watched Takamina frown as she made her way to the doors and gulped, her hands gripping the handles as she pulled the doors wide open. Lights flashed before our eyes and seconds later, we saw a crowd of tens thousands of people in the dome. I’d never seen this much people in my entire life; I’d seen this amount of people on television, but this was a whole different feeling. I could feel the energy the fans emitted and their loud calls expressed so much love to their favorite idol. This was what it felt to be in a concert. But, just whose concert was this, and why were we here?

“Why don’t we ask those guards right there?” My sister said loudly through the booming music and screams as she jogged up to one of the guards near the doors. “Guards! Do you mind telling us where we are and whose concert this is?”

“Obviously, we’re in a concert dome.” I said flatly.

“I already know we’re in a dome, but I’m wondering which one; there are five domes in Japan and there are seventeen stadiums too.” She said as turned back to the guard. “So, can you tell us where we are?”

The man didn’t seem to hear us nor noticed us at all. Yuko-nee began to wave her hand in front of his face, but he didn’t react. He was either completely ignoring us or he was just blind, but I doubted on the latter.

“Don’t even bother; you’re just wasting your time. He can’t see us nor hear us.” Takamina intervened as she pulled us away from the standing guard.

“What do you mean? If we can see him, it’s only obvious that he can see us.” Yuko-nee argued as she attempted to go back to the guard, but only to be pulled by Takamina again. “Hey! What the big idea?!”

“I said it’s useless!” Takamina said loudly in a more serious tone; she looked really serious too. “These people can’t see us.”

“Why can’t they see us?” I asked nervously. I was starting to have a real bad feeling about this.

“We are not from here. Thanks to you, Yuko-san, we are now stuck inside the memories of my uncle Riku’s; we’re now back into the past. If you hadn’t open the ring box we wouldn’t be in this place right now.” The smaller girl answered, looking a bit frustrated. “But what’s done is done; there’s nothing we can do about it anymore.”

“Hey! That wasn’t my fault. I was just curious about the box and the content of it; it looked really expensive and I was just…argh! That doesn’t matter anymore.” My sister defended as she ruffled her hair in frustration.

“Yeah. Curiosity killed the cat.” I commented, crossing my arms over my chest; feeling displeased.

“Shut up! Anyway, how do you know exactly that we’re in the past?” My sister looked over at my little friend as Takamina motioned to the crowd behind her with her thumb and said,

“Why don’t you just listen to the crowd?”

“Riku! Riku Riku!”

Listening to the cheers, it was already evident enough that we were somewhere where we were not supposed to be, but I still couldn’t it believe; I couldn’t be sure if I was only dreaming or what not. This better be a dream ‘cause I was seriously freaking out right now.

“And if you need more proof, check out the posters of my uncle right there; he looks to be right about in his late twenties to his early thirties.” She added as she pointed behind us.

Yuko-nee and I twisted our head to look at the posters on the doors and she was right; Riku-san was definitely young, well and alive. Pinching my sister’s arm, I heard her groan and hissing in pain and telling me ‘what the hell?!’, and this proved that we were in the past now. How the hell did we get here anyway? Takamina did say that ring brought us here; brought us to Kojima Riku’s memories.

“Since we’re back in the past for who knows how, how the hell are we going to go back in our time?” Yuko-nee said as she rubbed her arm while glaring at me, pouting.

“We can’t get out of here.” The smaller girl pronounced, and added, “The only way we can get out of here is through my dad, my uncle Riku and someone else that you might know, and those people aren’t with us right now. So basically, we’re stuck here for who knows how long.”

After the encore, the concert ended and as everyone was walking out of the dome, Takamina didn’t plan to wait for the people leaving the dome and walked pass through them. We made our way through backstage and tried to find the pop star’s dressing room.

Finding the room, Takamina didn’t hesitate and walked through the door. Yuko-nee and I stared at each other for a second before we hesitantly followed my little friend through the door. This was probably how it felt like to be a ghost; not that I believed in ghost and such.

After passing through the door, we saw the singer sitting on the couch with a younger looking and a pregnant Haruna-san who seemed to be around her mid to late teenage years, and standing beside her was a taller and good-looking person whom I didn’t seem to recognize, but quite familiar. Staring at Takamina, I noticed a look of longing towards the person standing. I wondered why, but then it hit me, that person might be Takamina’s father.

“Another successful concert! Let’s celebrate!” The pregnant young woman cheered as her older brother and her spouse laughed, grinning as they agreed.“Come on! Little Minami and its mama’s is getting hungry.”

“Oh? You’ve already decided on the name?” The man was surprised, placing his hand on his little sister’s already formed bump. “Is it a boy or a girl?”

“No, we want the baby’s sex to be a surprise, but we didn’t decide on the name; Minami’s ojii-chan decided for us and I like it.” Haruna-san answered, rubbing her belly.

“I see. Oh! I could feel it kicking!” Riku-san exclaimed excitedly. “My little niece or nephew is a really active and healthy baby.”

“Before we leave, we would like to give this to you.” The unknown person said as they extended their hand to present a ring box to the older man.

“You didn’t have to you know. Is this one of your magical masterpiece xxx-chan?” The pop star inquired as he opened the small box and his eyes went wide. “This is really beautiful.”

“You’re right onii-san, this is my biggest masterpiece so far. The ring I made can record your most memorable memories and you can reminisce anytime you want and show them to our future generation how you were as you pop singer and such. And you and I are the only ones who can activate the ring.” Takamina’s father informed as the star immediately wore the ring with excitement.

“Thank you so much, Haruna-chan, xxx-chan. Now, come on, let’s go and eat!”

Just like in the movies, the scene before us changed quickly and we’re now somewhere what seemed like a delivery room. Laying on the delivery bed was Takamina’s mother and on both her sides were, I assumed, Takamina’s father and Haruna-san’s older brother as Haruna-san was tightly gripping the arms of both people on her sides, turning their arms white as both persons groaned in immense pain.

Loud screams of the young mother was filling the room as her surroundings kept telling her to push. After the final push, a baby’s cry was heard. The doctor congratulated the mother and exclaimed,

“Congratulation! You have a healthy and beautiful baby girl. It’s a blessing for me to help my daughter to deliver my granddaughter.”

“Can I hold her?” Takamina’s father asked his mother-in-law excitedly as the doctor just walked pass by the feminine-looking person, wrapping the baby in a warm blanket.

“No way! The mother holds the baby first and then the father.” The middle-aged doctor said as a matter of fact as the young father pouted, watching the baby in her mother’s arms finally calm down. Both parents cried tears of joy in their eyes as the mother gazed lovingly at her daughter, looking back at her partner and handed the tiny little being to the father.

”Welcome to the world Minami.” The young father whispered, cradling softly and welcoming the little baby to the family as the baby whimpered.

The young person stood up from the bed and headed towards Haruna-san’s big brother, giving the man his turn to hold the baby. “Minami, say hello to your uncle Riku.”

The man took the baby in his arms and smiled, his eyes glistening a bit. I turned to look at Takamina and she was just staring in awe at the scene while still staring at her father. I could tell through her eyes that she must’ve missed her father very much. That look of longing proved it a lot.

“Honestly, I didn’t think you would be the daughter of The Kojima Haruna; it’s rather quite surprising that she would have you at a really young age.” My sister suddenly said as Takamina and I faced her. “In my opinion, your father looks more like a woman than a man you know, but he also looks really familiar; I just can’t put my finger on it.”

In my mind, I couldn’t agree more with my sister. Looking at Takamina’s father a little more closely, he did resemble more of a female than a male. Maybe he just looked like his mother very much.

“Say, did your parents get married really young or after you were born?” My sister inquired.

That was quite of an insensitive question to ask, though I was also curious about that. Takamina didn’t say anything yet as she turned back to the scene in front of us and answered,

“My parents got married after I was conceived. It’s actually been like that in my whole family line. And besides, my parents love each other very much despite how far they are from each other now.”

With that, everything started to fast-forward again and stopped. We were now inside a mansion. The inside seemed familiar; did this mean we were back?

“Hey, this is oji-san’s mansion.” Takamina announced as Yuko-nee and I sighed in relief.

“Looks like we’re back in the present.” Yuko-nee said as she walked towards the room we used to be before going back in time.

“If I were you, I wouldn’t celebrate just yet.” My little friend said as she frowned slightly.

“Why is that?” I asked until we heard a doorbell ringing once, twice, and thrice and kept going repeatedly and a still young looking Riku-san was jogging towards the doors. This couldn’t be; we were still in the past. How the hell were we going to get out of here?

Once the man opened the door, an infant Takamina in t-shirt and shorts jumped into his arms, surprising the man.

“Riku oji-san!”

“Minami-chan! Good to see you again.” The man lifted the little girl up in the air and hugged her quite tightly. “And happy third birthday little one.” He congratulated as he put his niece down and noticed something about her. “Did you grow?” I giggled softly, finding his question a little funny since it was quite normal for infant Takamina to be growing after all she was still in her growing stage, but the Takamina I knew was still short and had probably stopped growing.

“Uh-huh.” The little girl nodded as she flashed her brightest smile which was the cutest thing ever. “Can we play?”

“After we eat lunch okay?”

“Okay.”

“Who is that I hear? Minami-chan is that you?” A woman in her late fifties whom I assumed was the doctor who help Haruna-san deliver baby Takamina.

“Obaa-chan!” The infant again ran but this time in her grandmother’s arms and hugged her tightly. Takamina’s grandmother picked her up and carried her towards the dining room as everyone else followed behind.

And then once again, everything was fast-forwarding and stopped in a different area. This time, we were in front of a temple, but something felt strange and it looked strange too. Riku-san was laying on the ground unconscious as two young man with wings were fighting in a battle. One of the two was unsurprisingly Dark Kai and the other was surprisingly a Kai look-alike with white wings. What the hell was going on? Why were there two Kais here? To me, it seemed to me that Dark Kai was protecting Riku-san what with him standing in front of his unconscious body.

“Come on Dark! Join me and let us rule the world.” The white winged man said, grinning as he flew in the air, watching the black winged man glaring right back at him. “We can even rule the whole universe together. The reason why the humans want to seal us away is because we’re a threat to them.”

“I’ll never join you! We’re only artifacts created by these humans; these humans brought me into this world and I’ll do anything to serve and protect them. We only exist to protect our other half and their next generation; nothing more, nothing less.” Dark Kai reasoned, growling as he flew and threw a punch across the other person’s face.

The latter was thrown further in the air as his wings spread wider, stopping himself. The young man with white wings glared down as he wiped the blood on the side of his mouth and slowly flew down and landed on the ground. Takamina, Yuko-nee and I just continued to observe what was going on, watching the scene unfold.

“You have become weak Dark Kai. You and I both know that in terms of strength and power, we are far more superior to the humans. Degrading yourself inferior to these humans makes you weak. Power makes us stronger.”

“You’re wrong! Protecting the ones you love and the unity of friendship makes us stronger.” Dark Kai disputed as he also landed on the ground and explained, “I was once like you too; I was always thirsty for power that I wanted to rule the world too. When it was time to come out, I would do many despicable things without my other half’s consent and the family would always try to control me. But then, I finally met her and she has changed me so much.”

“Humph. So that’s how you fell; you feel in love with a human. How pathetic!” The white winged young man threw himself at Dark Kai as they broke into another violent battle.

The fight seemed to go out of control as they started casting some sort of magic against each other, blasting each other with fireballs, thunderbolts and such. The battle ended quite quickly as both winged young man delivered their final blow and ended up hitting each other, crashing into the ground; falling unconscious. Takamina was about run towards them when another Dark Kai intervened, coming out of nowhere.

“Kai?” Takamina called with familiarity which I found it kind of weird. “But how?”

“I came to save you and your friends.” Kai affirmed as he glanced at Yuko-nee and I and looked back at Takamina. Could it be that Dark Kai is the third person that could help us escape from here?

“Looks like I was right, Kai and Takamina aren’t the same person.” I whispered to my sister as I continued to stare at the duo in front of us.

“Seems so, but they seem to know each other too.” My sister lifted an eyebrow as she watched the both suspiciously.

“C’mon, we have to go.” Kai said as he took Takamina’s arm and pulled her towards us.

“What about oji-san?” Takamina tried to pull away as she attempted to run towards the unconscious men. “And what about papa?!”

Papa? I looked around and I didn’t see her father around or anywhere where we were.

“They’ll be fine.” The young man assured as he pulled back the little girl, reaching us.

“Bu-but.”

“Look. This is just a memory of Riku and this includes your father’s too since he made the ring; this happened in the past and it cannot change. I vowed to your family that I would fight and protect you with my life.” The man grabbed my little friend’s face as he connected his forehead to hers; his blue eyes staring back at Takamina’s dark brown ones. “I promise you they’ll be alright.”

“Papa didn’t suffer or get injured during the fight, right?”

“I assure you, your father didn’t feel a thing; I took every damage that has been delivered.” Kai pulled away as he continued to tug Takamina over to us while she looked back still a bit worried. "We have to leave now."

Just as Yuko-nee said, they knew each other and they seemed close too; rather too close. Felt like they had known each other for years. But then again, Dark Kai did say that he promised Takamina's family that he'd protect no matter what. Which must've mean that he knew the family well too.

The black-winged man stood behind us and brought us three closer to him as he pulled out a black feather, raising it to the sky and cried out, "All the angels and holy spirits that rule magic return the souls who are lost in time send them back to the time in body to which they were born!"

All of a sudden, a bright light blinded our eyes as I used my arms to shield my eyes from the light. The next thing I knew was that we were not back yet. We were in a studio, but not just any studio; Kojima Riku, the pop star’s, studio. He was rehearsing for perhaps another concert or he was composing a song and stopped as he turned to us, smiling; approaching us, rather he was approaching Takamina. The man gently grabbed the girl’s hand and put something in the palm of her hand and close it. He smiled at her as he patted her head affectionately, saying something that I couldn’t hear.

After that, everything vanished. I opened my eyes and we were back in the parlor. My father and Haruna-san was here too as Haruna-san was on the couch with Takamina’s head resting on her lap while playing with the girl’s hair. My sister seemed to have awoken at the same time as I have as she rubbed her eyes. Few seconds later, Takamina woke up as well as she sat up, rubbing her eyes as well. She turned to her mother and suddenly hugged her tightly as Haruna eyes widened, hugging her back just as tightly. It looked like Takamina whispered something to her that would make Haruna-san slightly surprise.

“Now that all of you are awake; why don’t we eat lunch?” My father said as we all stood up and walked out of the doors like nothing had happen and that everything was just a dream.

*~*~*~*~*~*
[/b]

After our lunch with Takamina and her mother. My father insisted we dropped them off, but Haruna-san convinced him that they preferred to walk home. And by the time we got home, I changed into a more comfortable attire.

As usual, my sister just walked into my room without knocking and laid on my bed without saying anything.

"So did everything happen in the past couple of hours was real or was it just a dream?" She suddenly asked, sitting up from the bed; looking at me with questioning eyes.

"I'm not sure. I can't tell if that was a dream either, but it felt real to me." I answered, adding, "But then, it's also impossible to travel back in time, so I'll have to say it's a dream, but I'm still not convinced."

"I'm not convinced either." She agreed as she laid back down only to sit back up. “By the way, who was that duplicate Kai with white wing anyway? Despite his white wings, he didn’t seem to feel like the good guy.”

“I have no idea, but I do get the feeling we’ve encountered him before.”

“I think you’re right. It was the time when Kai first saved us from those bastards.” She recalled as I remembered that terrible moment. “They seem to have been enemies since the time when Kai met Ray. That’s a really really long time.”

After that, my sister decided to just leave my room, but then came back inside, looking like she had forgotten something as I lifted my eyebrow.

"You forgot something?"

"Yeah! I forgot to ask Takamina about her love life with Tomochin!"

With that, I couldn't hold myself anymore as I facepalmed myself, deciding to just ignore her.

To be continued

Hey there, lil' bro XD.

Thought I'd leave a comment before I return to studying for the exams too .
Anyway, I honestly think you did a good job with this chapter, but I do wonder how did Roku die. :?
I also believe that you should start putting romance into this story  XD. I really wanna know how Atsuko and Minami will grow to love each other.

I know we've been really busy lately, but please update soon XD.
Good luck with your exams and wish me luck with mine :).

You updated!  :inlove:
Actually, I rewatched D.N.Angel right after I had read your previous chapters to refresh my memory on how things go, so now the story is still fresh in my head.

I'd definitely like to read Minami's/Kai's POV, since it would solve some questions (I hope). I'm especially curious as to if Minami transforms into Kai because of the same reason as in the show.

Thank you for the long chapter, it was a very pleasant surprise!  :)

@nguyen23: Please do :). And thank you for reading and leave a comment :) XD.

@Dianalrs: Just hopefully you won't wait long for the next chapter. Thanks for reading and commenting :) XD.

@black_maa: Honestly, I'm not the type of person to drop something I've started. I just got really busy with school and such :(, and since school if finish for me, I can take the time to start writing again  XD. Therefore, please don't think I'll leave this behind :). Sorry, I really can't say much about the other Kai, but I'll definitely mention him a lot more in future chapter. Thank you for wishing me luck for my exams; I just hope I pass them though XD. Thank you for reading and leaving a comment :) XD.

@korin48: Well, at least you didn't miss much . Glad to hear that you like it :). Yeah, my plan was to keep the whole story to Atsuko's POV since Minami's POV would almost be like in the anime. You probably seen the poll already, so I wanted everyone's opinion if they wanted that too :) (I hope you don't mind ). Luckily for you XD, the majority wants a Minami/Kai POV XD. I'll write Minami/Kai's POV once HYSMH is complete :). Thank you for reading and commenting :) XD.

@cisda83: It's not that they can't connect the dots, it's more like they needed proof before they conclude. You'll have to wait for your answers in the next chapters :P. Thank you for reading and commenting :) XD.

@pheonix0i: I'm really happy to hear that XD. Tomochin and Minami's story will be told soon, don't worry about it :P. Thank you for reading and commenting :) XD.

@deguchi: He's death will be a mystery until further notice :P. Thank you for reading and commenting :) XD.

@RJay: Aniki XD! I thought I told you before that you could've just told me that at home than here . Like I said all questions will be answered in future chapters :P. About the romance, I'll get into that very soon :P don't rush me into the good part. I'll definitely wish you luck, you're not done yet are you? Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment :) XD.

@TeenyTae: Yes I have updated . You did? I did say that it's going to be similar, but not everything will be the same; I can promise you that :). Minami's transformation will remain a mystery until the next few chapter; I can't admit or deny your curiosity :P. Thank you for reading and commenting :) XD.

(A/N): Hey everyone XD! Sorry today is not an update but more of an announcement. I have finally finished all my finals and I can resume into writing again, just hopefully my part-time job won't get in the way like how school does . Anyway, I want to announce that the poll is over and results are in as you all can see . Since votes shows that everyone wants to read Minami/Kai's POV, then when HYSMH is finish, I'll start writing it as soon as I can. I've already started writing the outline for the story, but it will have a different title and will be posted in this very thread. I hope you all are satisfied with the results :). I've already started writing chapter 6 of HYSMH and I'm still working on The Immortal Demon; many things have happen and I'll do the best I can to update. Well, thanks all of you for stopping by and read this announcement. And please do look forward for the next chapter. I thank my readers and silent readers for reading my fanfics and comment on them, and to motivate me till today, and I hope you all will still read my work.

Hello my fellow readers!

It's been... 5-6 months :?? Since I last updated. Sorry for taking so long  .
I've been in a writer's block , and since many of you wanted to know more about the TakaTomo relationship in the past, I decided to write a whole chapter about them. However, it got too long, so I cut the chapter in half :(. Hope you enjoy this chapter :) XD.

Chapter 6 - Nothing bu Memories pt.1

Heading towards my school, my driver drove me there just as usual. Minutes later, the car stopped right in front of the school gates as my driver opened the door for me; I sat in there for a couple of seconds before exiting the car. Thanking the middle aged man, he tipped his hat a little, bowing slightly and wishing me a good day at school with a smile, and drove away.

I walked towards my shoe locker as wore my inside shoes and placed my outside shoes inside the locker, heading to my classroom as I was greeted by my friends who were already huddled up, speaking to each other while waiting for me to take my seat at my desk.

“Hey Acchan!” Miichan called out as she waved at me. “Have you heard the news?”

“Yes I have; this morning, during breakfast.” I answered and cited her what I remembered from morning news and the newspaper. “The phantom thief, Dark Kai, will steal the Horn of Neptune tonight in an underwater cave called the Temple of Neptune. Again, it’s all over the news and newspapers.”

“Things are getting interesting don’t you think?” Kuu grinned amusingly as he explained. “I mean, the newspaper club is getting more readers from students thanks to this guy.”

“Good morning.” A familiar voice greeted us as I turned my head to find my small friend, greeting us with a smile.

“Good morning Takamina.”

“Good morning Acchan.” She turned to me, keeping her smile as her dimples were showing. I didn’t know why, but I was starting to feel something weird inside me. I couldn’t stop staring at her smile and I couldn’t shake the feeling inside me, until I heard someone calling my name did I divert my attention from the girl to Miichan.

“What is your dad’s strategy to capture the thief this time?”

“What are you guys talking about?” The small girl pulled up her chair as she sat between Tomochin and me.

“You know, about Dark Kai’s recent notice.” Kuu answered, showing the front page of the city’s newspaper as Takamina nodded, starting to read the newspaper with interest. “You haven’t heard?”

“I did. I just want to hear and read more on the details. It looks like Acchan’s father is really determine to catch him this time.”

“Are you saying that my dad cannot catch this guy?” I asked as I raised my eyebrow, defending my father’s reputation as the Chief Commander of the Metropolitan police force.

“I'm pretty sure I didn’t say that. However, you should know that Dark Kai cannot be caught, no matter how many times the police tries, even after many generations.”

Heaving a deep sigh, I felt defeated. She was right; I really couldn’t argue against that. I mean, I have witness some things from the young man and I would have to say he was incredible and amazing. To actually capture Dark Kai, we would probably need someone who could do things like what the guy could do. I could only think of the other Kai with white wings who would do those kinds of things, but that guy seemed like bad news. Takamina, my sister and I only saw him once, but it was the time where we traveled back in time in spirit or something, therefore I wondered if the white winged Kai was still around like Dark Kai. I really hoped not because I seriously had a really bad feeling about that person.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to wound your father’s reputation, but I’m only stating the facts.” My little friend apologized as I wondered if she said that because she knew Kai and his abilities. "I mean, after many weeks or rather months he has been trying to catch the phantom thief, all of his attempts have been unsuccessful."

“Don’t worry about that. I sort of knew also.” I replied as her necklace around her neck seemed to catch my attention. “Hey, isn’t that your uncle’s ring?”

“Oh you noticed that? Well yeah. It stated in his will that I should have his ring since my father gave to him in the first place.” She explained as she showed her new ring hanging on her pendant which looked rather familiar; it kind of looked like Dark Kai’s magic necklace when I met him for the second time.

“What about this one?” I gently grabbed the pendant slightly touching her hand as I inspected the silver winged-shape pendant which was exactly like Kai’s pendant when I first saw it. “It’s a pretty one.”

“Ah~ This one; it’s a one of a kind? This pendant is an heirloom made by the Takahashi family. My father gave this to me on my first birthday.” She grinned and added, “This is also made in pairs; one in golden and one in silver.”

“Where’s the other pair?” I inquired, letting go of the pendant as Takamina put the necklace back inside her shirt.

“Oh. My mother has the golden one.” Takamina answered and added, “My grandmother, in my father’s side, gave the golden pendant to my mother before my parents were married and my grandfather gave this silver pendant to my father on his first birthday, and then, as I said, it was passed on to me.”

“These pendants must be really important to your family.” I said as I stared at her intrigued.

“Of course it is. It’s been handmade by my ancestors and it’s a custom for the silver pendant to be given to the first born of a Takahashi on their first birthday, and the golden pendant to be given to the future spouse of a Takahashi.” Takamina explained one of her family’s traditions and added, “A Takahashi by blood holding this silver pendant is also a vow for their responsibilities as a Takahashi member.”

“So if I stayed in a relationship with you longer, I would have gotten that pendant right?” Tomochin said in a teasing tone as she nudged Takamina’s arm.

“Perhaps.” Takamina teased back as Tomochin’s cheeks redden a bit.

“Do you mind telling us what kind of responsibilities are you talking about as a Takahashi?” I curiously questioned as she stared back at me with an eyebrow raised.

“That’s a family secret. I can’t tell you anything.” She responded as I stared at her skeptically while she looked back at me, looking quite serious.

Seconds later, the teacher walked into the classroom, greeting everyone as everybody went back to their seats for class to start.

I looked fixedly at Takamina’s back and I had this feeling that I knew she was hiding something, something that only her family knows. I couldn’t focus in class as I thought hard instead about what Takamina might be hiding. Could it be that her secret might involve her connection with Dark Kai, the phantom thief? If it was, then there was probably more into it than her family and Dark Kai just knowing each other.

Takamina did say that that pendant she was wearing was one of a kind. If she was the only person wearing that pendant, then why was Kai wearing it the other time? Was it another coincidence or were they the same person?

Argh! I should really stop thinking about this. I mean, why did I even care? I was starting to believe that I was thinking like my sister a little. However, I just couldn’t help it. Curiosity really got to me and I really had to know. Takamina didn’t look like it since she was student council president and she was socially open with other students, and it seemed like everybody knew her like an open book, but just like Tomochin had said before, she was really mysterious in her own kind of way and you had to know what kind of person she was and what kind of secrets she was hiding.

I shook my thoughts away as I tried to get my head back into my teacher’s teaching, but that really didn’t work very much either as I stared at Takamina’s back. As if sensing my gaze, I looked down at my notebook, pretending to write on it as she slowly turned to see if I was staring at her.

I noticed that what I was doing was very stupid, and with that, I decided to just let it be for now and just focus to the lesson and write down my notes.

---

After our morning classes, instead of eating our lunches in the classroom, my friends and I decided to eat outside in the school yard for once what with the really nice and warm weather. And guess who decided to join us? My sister. One of her afternoon classes was cancelled for unknown reason, therefore at the moment she has a whole four hour break, and she chose to hang out with us for lunch before she would go back to school for her last class.

“So…Takamidget. Don’t think you’re off the hook just because I forgot to ask again during our lunch yesterday.” My sister wriggled her brows very perversely with a mischievous glint in her eye as she asked while glancing and pointing at Tomochin for a second—who flinched at the eye contact—then glanced back at the shorter girl. “How did you get your tiny little paws on this fine young gal?”

Tomochin began to blush furiously as I saw her grabbing Takamina’s right arm and hid her face on her shoulder, shying herself away from our eyes. Takamina, on the other hand, smiled nervously by our looks as she too had a slight blush on her cheeks, rubbing the back of her neck with her free hand.

“How many times do I have to say that it’s not a big deal anymore?” Takamina asked annoyingly, her voice filled with irritation as she scowled.

“And how many times do I have to say that it is a big deal?” My sister retorted as her grin grew wider. “And besides, you guys hid your two year relationship since the very beginning and we just found about it just recently.”

“Oh come on! We’ve already broken up two years ago. Why do you still want to know about my past relationship with Tomochin?” Takamina said exasperatedly as Tomochin, still holding onto her ex’s arm, looked up, watching her ex’s face.

“We’re just curious, is all. Right guys?” Yuko-nee looked at the Minegishi twins as they nodded in agreement and then she turned to me as I just sat there, motionless. Honestly, I was also curious about those two, but if they didn’t want to talk about it, then I wasn’t going to force them to tell me. “Right. Now get to it.”

Takamina sighed deeply, opening her mouth to tell her story only to close it back when Tomochin decided to cut in as she interrupted, “Since I was the one that told Minami to keep our relationship a secret in the past, so it’s only fair for me to tell the whole story instead.”

After a minute of silence, Tomochin inhaled a deep breath, her cheeks still a bit rosy as we all sat in front of the former couple. Thus, her story began:

It all started two years ago during the last year of middle school. My homeroom teacher called me to meet him in the teachers’ office after school. So I went to the teachers’ office, feeling quite nervous and worried about why my homeroom teacher was calling me for. And I was right about being worried.

“Itano-san, I want to talk to you about your mid-terms.” My teacher announced as he brought out a copy of my term report card. “You’re doing really great in most of your subjects, however you’re failing in math and in science.”

I gulped, knowing that that wasn’t good news and my parents were not going to be so happy about this if they heard the news.

“Since this is your last year here, I want you to pass and go on to high school next year. Therefore, I asked someone to tutor you in those particular subjects without having the trouble to pay for their services.”

Seconds later as in good timing, there was a knock at the door. My teacher told whoever that was at the door to come in, and coming in was one of the other classes’ third-year student; a girl, wearing a gakuran which I recognized as the popular and smartest girl in school. The girl was shorter than I was and her hair was tied in a high ponytail with a black ribbon on it. The girl excused herself in as she slid the door close and approached us.

“Is there something you need from me, sensei?” The girl called out to the teacher as she stood beside me, waiting for the teacher’s request.

“Yes Takahashi-san. I need your help in tutoring my fellow student, Itano-san, and help her improve in her subjects before the next exam and the finals.” The teacher said, motioning to me as the girl glanced at me for a second and turned back to the teacher.

“Of course sensei.”

“Good. Now, run along now and talk among yourselves for your after school meetings.”

With that done, we bowed to my homeroom teacher as we both walked out of the office, heading back to each of our classrooms to get our belongings. I grabbed my bag from my desk as I saw the girl already waiting by the doorway of my classroom.

She entered my classroom, walking right in front of me as she cleared her throat, saying, “Um...why don’t we introduce ourselves first?” The girl straightened herself as she introduced herself and bowed slightly. “I’m Takahashi Minami from class 3A, you can just call me Takamina. Yoroshiku.”

“I’m Itano Tomomi from class 3B. Please call me Tomochin.” I also introduced myself and bowed a small bow. “Yoroshiku onegaishimasu.”

“So To-Tomochin, since I’ll be tutoring you for the next couple of weeks, why don’t you tell me first the subjects you’re having trouble with, so I can be prepared for our first tutoring session.” She said, smiling as she brought the straps of her bag over her shoulder.

“According to sensei, I’m having a little trouble with math and science.” I replied as I shyly looked away, feeling a little embarrassed which she seemed to notice very quickly.

“There’s nothing to be ashamed of. There are many students who also have difficulties with those subjects.” She reassured me as she took a step forward, making me to turn back to her. “But no need to worry, I’ll make sure to help you improve and become better in those subjects.” She ended as she patted my shoulder before leaving me alone in the classroom, but then came back inside to ask me something. “Oh yeah, I need your after school schedule, so we could work out our tutoring meetings.”

“Yeah, sure. I’m pretty much free every day after school.” I informed her, adding, “We can go at my place together after school.”

The girl nodded, smiling happily as she announced, “Okay then, we have to start as soon as possible, so…we can start tomorrow after my basketball practice and we will spend an hour or two on tutoring; one hour for math and one hour for science.”

“That sounds good to me.”

“Great! I’ll see you tomorrow then Tomochin.” The small girl beamed a smile as she waved and ran away to her club activity.

Since my friends finished their class duties, I decided to look around and check if my friends were still here and I was right. Acchan and Miichan were still here, waiting by the school gates. Both of them noticed me once I was out of the building.

“What took you so long?” Miichan whined as she ran towards me while Acchan just walked. “Did something happen?”

“Sorry guys.” I apologized as I explained my meeting with my homeroom teacher. “Apparently, I’m failing math and science, so he assigned me with a tutor till the next term.”

“That sucks.” Acchan commented as she asked, “So who will be tutoring you?”

“Takahashi Minami.” I answered.

“The prodigy?!” Acchan exclaimed as she looked at me wide-eyed. “You could’ve just asked me to tutor you instead.”

“I didn’t think I would need a tutor.” I replied as we began to walk away from the school. “But isn’t she in your class?”

Atsuko sighed and nodded, “She may be in my class, but we’re not even close.”

“I don’t see anything wrong with having Takamina as a tutor.” Miichan interrupted and added, “Takamina has been tutoring me and Kuu since we were in grade school, and it’s all thanks to her that we didn’t fail a single subject so far.”

“She’s that good huh?” I said, sort of not knowing how to feel about this. Should I feel lucky?

“Well, she is number one after all.” Acchan replied the obvious.

After that talk, we headed straight to a nearby café to forget our problems and just discuss about anything before going home.

---

The next day went by so fast that the school day was already over. I started to pack my school bag with all of my stuff and made my way to the gym to wait for the school’s most respected student as Acchan, Miichan and Kuu-kun decided to join me as well to help pass the time. When we arrived at the gym, we took our seats at the bench as the players warmed-up by jogging a couple of laps around the gym.

After the warm-ups, Takamina jogged up to us, looking like she didn’t break a single sweat.

“Man, after all that jogging for who knows how many laps you sure don’t look tired at all.” Kuu-kun commented as he patted his best friend’s back.

“I run to school every day Kuu. I don’t take the buses nor do I take the trains.” Takamina responded, brushing the boy’s arm away as she turned to look at me. “You know, instead of waiting for me in here till practice is done, why don’t you work on your homework in the library? So that when I’m done with practice we can work more on the ones you have already solve.”

I hesitantly nodded, confiding to her demands. Even though I didn’t want to do that at all, I knew it was good for me; for my future. The girls’ basketball team coach called Takamina back to the court as they would begin their practice game. She went off as she assured me that she would pick me up in the library after her practice.

Not long later, I was already in the school’s library. My friends had gone home, leaving me here to do my homework.

---

After a whole hour, I have tried to solve some math problems, but only to get stuck in all of them not knowing exactly how to get the final answers. Therefore, I ended up doing some science homework which was really easy since all of the answers were already in the textbook.

Suddenly, I felt someone poking my right shoulder. Turning around, I found Takamina smiling and waving her hand slightly at me, looking fresh out of the shower.

“Ready to go?” She asked as I nodded.

I packed my things as we both walked out of the library, heading towards my place. On our way to my house, neither of us said a single word what with us not knowing what to say at all.

When we arrived, we entered my home as my mother welcomed me, asking me why I was late to get back home. She noticed that I brought someone home and greeted her.

“Who’s your friend Tomomi?”

“Kaa-chan, this is Takahashi Minami; the person who will be tutoring me. She’s the one I’ve been talking about last night.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you!” She exclaimed as she scurried towards us. “I’ve heard so much about you! I heard you’re one of the smartest students in the school. I want to thank you for helping my daughter in her studies.”

“It’s no problem at all Mrs. Itano.”

“Okay that’s enough. C’mon Takamina. Let’s get started.” I grabbed Takamina hand as we went up the stairs to my room. My mother told us that she would bring some tea and snacks to my room during our tutoring session as she also told me that supper would be almost ready.

---

Tutoring session went by so fast that I didn’t realize it was already late. Takamina would show me step by step on how to solve math problems, and with her teaching and explaining every step made it so easy and simple compared to how the teacher would teach us. As for science, she would help me memorize the names of every parts of the human body which includes bones too.

Takamina began to pack her things as we both headed downstairs as I sent her off, but my mom stopped us.

“Minami-chan, why don’t you stay and eat supper with us?” She asked as Takamina shook her head apologetically.

“No, thank you. I don’t want to intrude in your family dinner.”

“You’re not intruding child.” My father reassured as he added, “You’re helping our daughter; we want to give our gratitude by at least feed you supper before you head on home. It’s getting late, and I don’t mind sending you home too.”

“Please give me your home number so I can speak to your mother.”

With much convincing, my little tutor gave her home phone number to my mother as she began to dial the number on the phone and spoke when the line was through.

As we waited, Takamina just stood there by the dining room while I took a seat in the dining table. Minutes later, my mother came back and informed us,

“Your mother says it’s alright for you to eat supper with us. My husband is going to bring you home right after.”

“Great! Please have a seat Minami-chan.” My father said as he stood up and pulled a chair right beside me for Takamina to sit.

“Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Itano.”

“Itadakimasu!” We all said in unison as we began to eat in delight.

Right after supper, Takamina and my father went to the front door, putting on their shoes as they got ready to head towards her place.

“Thank you for the food Mrs. Itano; it was really delicious.” Takamina said as my mother thanked her before she turned to me. “I’ll see you tomorrow Tomochin.” I waved at her goodbye as both Takamina and my father left the door before she walked back inside. “Sorry. I forgot to give you my number. You can call me or text me anytime.” She gave me a piece of paper and left through that door again.

*~*~*~*~*~*

It’s been a whole month already, Takamina has been tutoring me every day during the school days. And during those tutoring sessions with Takamina, I was starting to feel something grow in me; I didn’t know what it was, but it felt good and at the same time it terrified me.

Day by day we got to know each other and we got closer and closer. Most of the time when we got to finish tutoring early, we ended up just talking and hanging out in my room until she left. It made me sad to see her leave before sunset, but I ended up being happy just by seeing her the next day.

---

After classes, instead of waiting at home for my tutoring session, I decided to wait for Takamina at the gym till she finished her basketball practice.

As I entered the school gym, the players were already beginning their warm-ups as I took a seat at the benches. Again, Acchan and Miichan decided to join me too, which I have no idea why but whatever.

“You know, you guys didn’t have to come here with me.”

“We know that, I just don’t know why you should be waiting for Takamina here rather than at your place.” Miichan commented, “And besides, even though I’m not as close to Takamina as my brother is, I thought I might need a little tutoring session with you and Takamina for our practice test next week.”

“I have no idea why I’m here, but I think I’ll just leave now.” Acchan announced as she said her goodbyes and exited the gym while Miichan shrugged, watching the practice with very small interest as she grabbed her phone from her bag and began playing a game on it.

I sighed, shaking my head as I turned to look back to the gym court, watching Takamina and the other players starting their practice game. From what I’ve heard, they would be having a game with the rival school in a month.

*~*~*~*~*~*

After an hour or so, Takamina's basketball practice was over for the day and we went straight to my house right after she showered and changed back into her uniform. It also didn't take long before tutoring session was over; Miichan left right after it was done. And just like every day, my mother invited Takamina for dinner as she agreed and called her parents, letting them know that she was staying a little longer.

"You seem to like staying longer for dinner after tutoring." I commented when she ended her call.

"Well, your mother is always inviting me to dinner. I didn't want to seem rude, so I accepted her offer." She replied, putting her phone in her pocket as she packed her notebooks and textbooks.

"Yeah. My parents like you very much. They're just very happy that you're helping me with my studies and such." I replied as we headed out of my room and walked downstairs straight to the dining room.

"It's no problem. Really. I'm really glad to help; you can ask me for help anytime."

Reaching the dining room, we took our seats, thanked for the food and began digging in.

---

Once dinner was finish, Takamina grabbed her bag from my room and said her goodbyes and left. And by the time she was gone, both of my parents were helping each other clearing the table and washing the dishes while I went to the living room and turned on the television to watch late night dramas.

"Minami-chan is a really nice girl." My mother commented as my father went on, following my mother, "She's an honor student, the student council president, artistic and athletic."

“She’s perfect for you Tomomi.”

“Kaa-chan~!” I exclaimed from the living room as I turned to glare at my parents, feeling my cheeks heat up with embarrassment.

“Is Minami-chan single right now?”

“Tou-chan!”

To be continued

:twothumbs :twothumbs :twothumbs You finally updated!!!
I don't blame you for updating your stories late what with you having a hectic schedule and all, and also you being in that program too. But keep up the good work, but also don't overdo it; you've been really tired lately :smhid. You should take care of yourself.  :thumbsup

So that's how Takamina and Tomochin met each other, every though they're in the same school. It also seems like Tomochin is starting to take a liking to Takamina. Tomochin's parents are funny, telling their daughter that she should date her tutor .
I wonder how they got together in the first place and I also want to know how and why they broke up.

Take your time to update part 2 of chapter 6.
I'll be waiting patiently XD.

Ganbate ne ototo-kun! Fight-o!
