Yah some nice stuff, TY.
If I pick up an image or series of a girl that I like, I want to print it in either 11"x17"size or maybe 13"x19" or larger (yay, Epson!). But one thing I hate is when there is an image I want to print but the photographer went for a dark & shadowy mood.
On a (backlit) computer monitor, one can see some detail in shadow areas. But there is not enough digital data in darker shadows for the computer to translate into pixels that the printer can print. Photo printing paper doesn't have the same exposure latitude range as a backlit computer screen. The range of of a photo paper's latitude
can vary depending on the expen$e and quality of the paper emulsion used. But short of professioal offset printing rigs, the missing shadow data/detail in jpeg images is just translated into a grey/black blob! The blob is called "noise". Yuk ... limitations of the digital age.
