There's been confirmation on a lot of these people being in Guam, but now the speculation is more that it's another Shukan AKB / Nemousu TV type thing.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they did not go to Guam this year just because Aki-P likes to lull us into a false sense of security before doing random ass shit.

This song releases on 05-23 and the Senbatsu Election is on 06-06, meaning that the voting tickets will be included in this single? Yeah, it has to be since Kachuusha was released around the same date last year.
If this is indeed Acchan's last AKB48 single then I expect them to milk it to death :lol: I'm thinking a 5th version with Acchan cover, Acchan solo coupling song, Acchan bonus content on the DVD, etc. This is all still possible since they haven't announced much information yet about the release.
The song doesn't really grab me, but with a cute PV I can see it become yet another success. At least it's not Ponytail part III.

Covers are alright. White bikinis are a bit bland compared to Shushu or Kachuusha, but they still look great. PV looks like a mindfuck but interesting. Song sounds cool.

What do you do when you’re AKB48 and have done just about everything possible to do in a music video? You hire a famed movie director and special effects master and top everything else you have done before. Or at least that is the plan.
For AKB48`s upcoming 26th single “Manatsu no Sounds good!” they have hired famed film director Higuchi Shinji [Google him, his resume is impressive, lol] and loaded up the truck and headed to Guam for a combat and swimsuit PV spectacular.
I have included a non-YouTube version of the preview because it has footage that is missing in some other preview versions.

PV looks interesting with probably some underlying messages. I dig the all white outfits for the 'heaven' scenes too + a little drama to spice it up is always great.
Dig the covers too, aside from the font. Digging Team Acchan's covers. Theater version looks good too, even though I don't recognize like 3-4 of them :nervous Mayu's team looks good too, albeit a little bit dangerous :lol:

This. Somehow the full PV didn't live up to the hype. As usual, all the good bits were in the preview already. And two minutes of credits? Pff..
Aw well, still good. Nice incorporation of the current changes in AKB48 as well as some nice bikini shots. Can't complain much :lol:
One small thing, they switch shots too often/quickly during the dancing scenes on the beach. Just when I try to figure out who I'm watching, the shot changes to three other girls. Can't keep up. Gotta watch the PV in slow motion too, lol.

I couldn't find Takamina during the battle scenes :(

PV answers nothing and probably raises more questions, wtf? I'm sad there are no snipers taking pot shots from the top of the hill :lol:. Looked like they just randomly died. The digital stuff on their hands and what looked like some holographic dome thing was kind of cool.
I am convinced there will be another ridiculously long drama version to be released or coupled with the single DVD, otherwise this is a huge disappointment. Maybe there's some cool war type stuff they're saving for the long PV, lol. At this point though, it seems like their PVs are just another medium for famous directors to show off with random stuff.
Also disappointed they ruined the Kachuusha outfits. Come on, man, those outfits are cute as hell.
As far as the song goes, it's better than I initially thought, but still meh. It'll probably grow on me by the time it actually comes out.
And I am totally 100% fine with Mayuyu center. I personally welcome our new cyborg overlord.

The director seems to have studied with the Evangelion guy. So yeah, we can blame Gainax for this. :bleed eyes:
Actually, I'm not so sure there'll be an extended version. We've already had a long PV this year with GMF, and the other long one will probably be reserved for the Election results single like with Furage. Plus, Kataomoi Finally and Dareka no Sei de Wa Shinai were never extended ,and they've got loose ends and plot confusion all over the place, too.

Some of the singles captured me the first time that I heard/watched, some took time and grew on me.
Am interested to see a longer version..........................to explain a little bit more about the war/ attacks.
However, symbolism of new girls helping out the old guard worked well.

At first when I watched them and I saw the signs on Atsuko and Tomochin's hand appear, I thought that they came from other space or what, but heck, its confusing how everyone started coughing out blood or dying... :shocked
Are they promoting helping people in need - theme? I'm seriously confused. :?
Although the bikini shot scenes were okay, why was it there? Even though in the past scenes, there were blood and dying. :?

You might think this is just the Overture, but watch the PV again. Where do Maeda & Co come from? The stars, of course. It's a play on the usual alien invasion trop, with a little twist. The aliens this time are really fucking pretty, and they come with a message.
"Just leave me, we decided that earlier, didn't we?"
Is what Acchan says, imploring Mayuyu to leave her, presumably to die.
"But I can't, there's things you have to tell us, right? That's why you're here!"
"No. We came here for our own sakes, to change ourselves."
Everyone who touches the girls contracts some sort of weird shit that gives them super TB and pretty much kills them. This could be an allegory to the AKB48 policy of never touching anyone you don't have close contact with. Aliens in this case probably referring to how AKB48 can't have boyfriends and whatnot. Two girls are not affected by this Super TB, namely Mayuyu and Karen; We can see this when Karen stands alone in a sea of bodies, apparently the only survivor. There's two ways to see Mayuyu's immunity: It's an in-joke about her cyborg self, or it's an allusion to what Acchan said to her earlier about it already being decided. Mayuyu is not of this earth, in the way that the rest of the frontgirls are not of this earth. She came here earlier, as a scout.
The dance sequence is not so much a random thing, but rather Mayuyu being brought back to her alien self, by the hands that cover her eyes. She's essentially a sleeper Cylon, with no memory of anything that happened before until she is brought back to the fold with those hands that cover her eyes. The dance sequence represents the awakening of Mayuyu's self as an alien. The dance world and real world exist concurrently, but only a few have the ability to transition between both worlds with no harm being brought to them.
Then Mayuyu leads Acchan in a Psalm type sequence. She leads Acchan to the path of righteousness, for AKB's name's sake. Well except the water is not very still. And it's Guam. Mayuyu doesn't have any sort of weird reaction to the group of people waiting for both her and Acchan. That's because she has been awakened and she is finally returning back to the fold. The dead AKB48 girls are now part of the dance world, due to their succumbing to the TB-like disease. But look at where everyone stands. Who's behind Takamina, and between Sashihara and Oshima?
That's right. Karen.
Karen is the true savior. She lives, but also gains the ability to move between the real world and the alien world. Mayuyu is a connection. In the real world, Mayuyu is the 3rd gen member that can still carry on after the pioneers have left. And she will be the bridge that facilitates the transition and transfer of power. The credit roll at the end is to encourage nostalgia (from the silly piano lines) and to ease the shock of just seeing the future of AKB48 in the span of six minutes.
That's right, all Anno Hideaki up in this sumbitch. Oh, I forgot to mention. Acchan uses 私たちが変わる. But 代わる can also mean succession.

Ah well, at least there is a segment to the PV where they are dancing and looking happy... that's what I enjoy in a PV, so I can then see them in my mind's eye whenever I listen to the song. Blood, death and destruction are not things I like to ponder when relaxing :-/

I went to CDJurina with the idea to spend some birthday money... but just as I was about to place the order, I had second thoughts.
I don't really like this song very much... why would I buy it? For a bonus photo, of a girl that is most likely not one of my top favorites (36 types, what are the odds)? For an election ticket? When did one vote ever made a difference :V... To support the group? I buy plenty of of their other releases that I do like...
I decided I will not be tricked into buying a release I don't like that much, just for some bonus gimmicks. I enjoy collecting pics and I enjoy the excitement surrounding the Senbatsu Election, but there is a limit. It's a financial crisis and I can only buy so many merch :lol:
I think Kuumin SKE48 will get my money during this release spree :yep:

To be honest I'm not digging either the song or the PV. What's up with listening to an energetic idol song while seeing your favorite girls suffer from some sort of super tuberculosis? :?
Also, I'm not really the kind who likes interpreting stuff like the first half of the PV. I'm pretty sure there's some deep meanings and stuff from what's going and what they're saying, but it doesn't exactly show an entertainment level of "idol". :nervous
Coming from me, NMB's Nagiichi gives the most summer vibes, followed by Aishiteraburu. This one is just weird, with the sudden transition from hell -> heaven :lol:

I decided to give this song another chance and as I was watching the PV I came across some very sloppy dancing.
First of all, this girl, whoever it is, does the entire routine in a mirrored way. I thought it might have been on purpose since she's near the back and sometimes they have different parts, but she's the only one doing the dance completely the opposite of the other girls. I think she practiced it off a video or something and forgot to mirror the moves. Actually, the legs are correct but the arms aren't. Some caps:

She's not even the only one, there is a massive difference between timing and height of the lift throughout the line-up.
I don't expect or want K-pop levels of tight dancing. It's part of the charm that they're not completely in sync because it gives off an open and playful vibe. However, I think this dance has some major screw-ups that should have been avoided.

The NINKI ratings are the results of a POLL conducted by Oricon indicating degree of interest/degree of purchase intention in an upcoming release. Although the ratings are never a true reflection of sales, it does give a strong prediction about where the single/album will place in terms of popularity amongst the Japanese public. However, they are NOT an indication of how it will perform in terms of chart positioning and total sales for the week.
Note 2:
According to Oricon's note under the NINKI page, Oricon researches about 870,000 of its members by random sampling of 400 members in their 10s until 40s. 50 men and 50 women are chosen randomly to participate in each age group. (However, some popular artists have had NINKI exceeding 500, so we can only assume that Oricon has extended the polling to around 600/700 people now.)

When it comes to singles, The largest shipping number for the first day in the history before this single of Japanese music scene was Kaze ha Fuiteiru, which shipped about 1.6 million.
This single contains voting tickets for coming AKB48's 27th single Senbatsu Sousenkyo. Early result of this election will be announced on 20:30 (JST) today, 23th May at AKB theatre and uploaded on AKB48's official blog and AKB48 mobile.

It's no surprise that the largest pop group of the world, AKB 48, (with more than 60 members, according to the Guinness book of records) lands another huge no.1 smash on the global track chart. All their former eight singles climbed to the top spot, so 'Manatsu No Sounds Good!' is the ninth no.1 for AKB 48. In the history of the global chart only four acts had more no.1's: the Beatles with 10, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson with each 14 and Madonna with 20 hits (especially the Beatles and Elvis Presley had more no.1's, but some years on the Media Traffic archive are still missing). 'Manatsu No Sound Good!' set also a new record: with nearly 1,7 million singles / downloads sold in its initial week, it's the fastest selling track since Elton John's hommage to Diana, 'Candle In The Wind' in October 1997. On this week's tally 'Manatsu' bows far away from the competition with 832.000 points.

On December 30th, the annual music awards show, ”The 54th Kagayaku! Japan Record Awards” was held, and announced that AKB48’s “Manatsu no Sounds good!” (written by Akimoto Yasushi, composed and arranged by Inoue Yoshimasa) has received the grand prize “Japan Record Award.” This is the second consecutive year for AKB48 to receive the award since they won the award with “Flying Get” last year.
Winning the “Japan Record Award” successively has been achieved by Hosokawa Takashi (1982 ~ 1983), Nakamori Akina (1985 ~ 1986), Amuro Namie (1996 ~ 1997), Hamasaki Ayumi (2001 ~ 2003), and EXILE (2008 ~ 2010), thus AKB48 is the first female group to accomplish it.
The general manager of AKB48 groups, Takahashi Minami shed tears, and said, “I am truly happy. Last year, we were desperate to grab the award, but his year, we felt like we must win it as the second chapter for AKB48 has begun. I am proud that we were able to get this award when there are so many great artists here.”
Watanabe Mayu also commented, “As Maeda-san graduated, we, the ones who are left, need to make AKB….”, she then had to stop right there, as she could not hold herself, but cry. She continued tearfully, “I am very happy. While being proud of this, I would like to continue trying our best. Though we felt some pressure, receiving the award will make us gain confidence, and I hope it will bring another good accomplishment.”

Manatsu no Sounds Good... was a good song. The last single that Maeda Atsuko sang because of her declaration to graduate.
